INTRODUCTION G0100 =============================================================================== Welcome to 'Yamamura Misa Suspense: Kyouto Ryuu no Tera Satsujin Jiken' for the, released by Taito in 1987. Yamamura Misa Suspense is a series of adventure games for the NES. This is the first of three mysteries. The guide uses Shift-JIS to display Japanese characters in .txt form. If you cannot see them automatically and just see some garbled font, set your browser encoding or file viewer manually. This game is a text adventure. To play you need to have extensive knowledge of the Japanese language. Thus this walkthrough is intended for players who are able to read and understand the text. If you do not understand the storyline then there is little point in playing the game. Suggestions, comments or errors - tell me about it. BASICS & CONTROLS G0200 =============================================================================== Controls: ````````` Use the A button to confirm actions, it also speeds up the text displayed on the screen if you don't want to read it. The B button backs out of the menu and returns all the way to the icon selection. Start a new game with the START option. The game uses a password system to save your progress. Input it at the main menu after you select CONTINUE. When you start a new game, input your name to use during the story. Display: ```````` The top of the screen contains the current location as well as character. Once you select an icon, a menu appears with more options to choose from. The middle bit of the screen is used for these icons. The bottom displays the text of the story. Commands: ````````` There are icons to make selection easy. From left to right: MOVE LISTEN LOOK PHONE TAKE SHOW POINT SLEEP CATHERINE THINK Move: Changes location. You often have to move to one place to get more options. Listen: This is more like talking to people, but as you do not talk back and the icon is an ear I went with this instead. Look: Look at something in the area, or use the specific icon to search for more information. Phone: Make a phone call. The number pad is used for selecting the number. Take: Pick up an item. Usually you need to discover or find out about this object before being able to select it. Show: Show an item to another person for them to tell you something about it. Point: Point out a person, used for arresting the culprit which isn't until the end of the game. In other words, a rather useless icon to have in the game. Sleep: You could save your game while in your room. Use the password to continue from this point later. Write it down. Catherine: When she is around, you can interact with her for some helpful hints. Think: Hints. When you're in your room you can consider things and if you are done for the day automatically go to sleep.
