Introduction -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Pachinko Daisakusen is a pachinko-themed game for the Famicom, but with a fun twist of sorts. The premise is that you are Agent #008 and must destroy the enemy bases by buying weapons, which you buy using points earned by playing pachinko (go figure)! Despite the neat theme, it is a very short game, with only three stages to complete. It really isn't that short of a game, since you have to play a lot of pachinko to meet this goal. Either way, if you are a pachinko fan, this game is fun enough to warrant a try at the least! ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 3. Controls -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Control Pad: Move character, move lever (in pachinko game) A: Talk, shoot balls (in pachinko game) Select: Access options (in pachinko game) Start: Access menu (in parlor) ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 4. Overview -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= =================== General Information =================== Before you reach the title screen, you will be asked if you want to use the special Pachinko Controller (パチンコ コントローラー) to play, or use the regular Controller (コントローラー). This only affects how you control the pachinko machines when you play. After you make your selection, you will go to the title screen. When you start off, you can either start a New Game, or Continue a previous game by entering a 10-character password. When you start a new game, you will be asked if you want there to be a timer, so select Yes/No. If you use the timer, it means you will have a 10-minute time limit to clear a given machine. When you go to a machine initially, you will have 100 balls (even if your total tally is more than that). If you run out of balls at the machine, you will lose a life and go back to the shop counter in an injured state. Lose three times and the game is over. Somewhere in the parlor, you will find a woman behind a counter; she runs the shop where you buy the weapons. In later stages, there is a second, more hidden shop, where special game-altering items can be bought. The main premise of the game is to gain enough points so you can buy the best weapons at the shop. After you buy a weapon and you are done at the shop, you will go to a screen where you can use your weapons against the enemy base. To do so, you select the weapon from a list and it will be used against the base. The objective is to get the base's break rate ("BREAK LATE") to 100%, thus destroying the base and clearing the stage. If you don't destroy the base and you run out of weapons, you go back to the parlor and must buy more weapons to continue the attack. There are only three stages in the game, so once you complete them all, you are done. Congratulations! ========== Game Menus ========== Pachinko Machine ---------------- Balls Remaining in Machine (打止在) Your Balls Remaining (もち玉) Pause Menu (in parlor) ---------------------- Score (スコア) Your Balls Remaining (モチダム) Machines Cleared (ウチドメスウ) Items (アイテム) ===== Items ===== In this game, the main objective is to score points by clearing the pachinko machines, so you can buy weapons at the main shop. After you buy a weapon, you will automatically go to the screen where you can select/use them to attack the enemy base. If you don't destroy the base, you go back to the parlor room so you can buy more weapons or win more points first. Below is a listing of how much each weapon costs, as well as their power levels in each stage. Stage 1 ------- Name Price Power ---- ----- ----- Hand Grenade 3500 ~20% (しゅりゅうだん) Rocket Launcher 6500 ~40% (ロケット ランチャー) Missile 15000 100% (ミサウル) Stage 2 ------- Name Price Power ---- ----- ----- Hand Grenade 3500 ~7% (しゅりゅうだん) Rocket Launcher 10000 ~25% (ロケット ランチャー) Missile 30000 ~85% (ミサウル) Stage 3 ------- Name Price Power ---- ----- ----- Hand Grenade 3500 ~4% (しゅりゅうだん) Rocket Launcher 6500 ~20% (ロケット ランチャー) Missile 15000 ~80% (ミサウル) In the later stages, there is a second shop you can find by using the elevators found in the parlor. That shop sells special items that can be used to aid you in your pachinko playing. Below is that information: Special Items ------------- Name Price ---- ----- Fixed Batting 10000 (コテイダホウ) Reach 10000 (リーチメ) Spring Regulator 10000 (バネチョウセイ) ==================== How to Play Pachinko ==================== Pachinko is basically a vertical pinball machine which players use tiny metal balls to play. It is also a heavily popular form of gambling in Japan, which explains why there are so many of these games on this and other systems! Anyway, the game board has a layout with nails sticking out, which the metal balls bounce off of or fall in between, in order to traverse the board. Also on the board are certain compartments where if a metal ball falls into it, you will receive points. If a ball makes it to the bottom of the board without landing in anything, you lose that ball (and a point). Initially, you start off with 100 balls (points). In this game, on the bottom-right area is a ring-shaped button with a smaller circle inside of it. This is the pressure control for launching the pachinko balls into the game board above. Use the Left/Right buttons to turn the knob, increasing or decreasing the pressure, allowing the metal balls to go shorter/farther with each shot. It is a good idea to continually fire balls while adjusting the pressure so you can have the best idea of what settings you like the most. Personally, I find that the best approach is to subtly move the pressure knob in the bottom-right corner until you start winning, then move it back and forth a couple of notches in that same area to keep the streak going. If you lose the streak, just keep moving the knob around until you hit it again. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 5.
