Neo Geo CD to AES/MVS differences by ReyVGM from the http://www.vgmuseum.com Game Pics, Game Endings, Sprite Rips, Game Scans and more. Not EVERY single thing will be detailed. But if there's new artwork, endings or extras, I will list them. Most fighting games (especially the later ones that have lots of characters) are missing frames of animation and even objects in the levels. By the way, AES means Advanced Entertainment System (A.K.A the home console) and MVS means Multi Video System (A.K.A. the arcade version). _/_/_/_/_/ Library _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ List of all the games released for the Neo-Geo CD. No No _/_/_/_/_/ Differences _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ The differences between the CD game releases from the Arcade/Home Console (MVS/AES) releases will be noted here. Alpha Mission 2 --------------- No notable differences. Art of Fighting --------------- No notable differences other than that from the title screen you can select between starting the game, the title demo, how to play or exit the game. Art of Fighting 3 The Path of The Warrior ----------------------------------------- Sprites are smaller. Has endings for Sinclair and Wyler. Wang's ending doesn't show the 8 random portraits. After he breaks off the page, it just goes to the credits. The ending for Wang doesn't feature the 8 random drawings found on the AES/MVS versions. Has a different character select screen, but you can use the original one by changing the options. After you beat the game you get a lot of bonus options such as changing the color of your characters, increasing/decreasing their powers, incrementing or decreasing their speeds, watch all the story sequences and endings. Endings can be seen here: http://www.vgmuseum.com/end/ngcd/a/aof3ryo.htm Crossed Swords -------------- No notable differences. Cyber Lip --------- No notable differences. Fatal Fury ---------- No notable differences. Last Blade ---------- There are missing frames of animation. Some effects (like flame or electricity) are simplified. Last Blade 2 ------------ There are missing frames of animation. Some winposes have been removed. Some effects (like fire or electricity) are simplified. Metal Slug ---------- It has a new title screen. You can select levels from a nice map after you beat the game. Has a "combat school" (led by a cute and blonde woman named Sofia) where you can beat levels fulfilling certain conditions. Has an extensive art gallery. This is the same version that was released on the PS/Saturn. However, the PS version has a mode called "another story". I don't know if it's found on the NGCD version too. Metal Slug 2 ------------ It has a new title screen. You can select levels from a nice screen after you beat the game. Also has the Combat School. Has an extensive art gallery. After the credits, where on the MVS/AES versions would say "presented by SNK", instead has the name of T. Nishiyama. NAM-1975 -------- Some sound effects in the intro and the game are different. Neo Turf Masters ---------------- The game has an extra stage where you can get the gold cup. (unconfirmed) Thanks The Legendary LoneWolf. Ninja Master's -------------- Arena battles are smaller and some elements of decoration have been removed. Rally Chase ----------- Known as Trash Rally on AES/MVS. It has a different control method for going through the gears. Real Bout Fatal Fury -------------------- The CD version doesn't feature all the Super Deformed characters strolling around in the options menu like in the cartridge version. After the ending credits, you get a screen asking you if you want to save your game and it will show the portrait of the character you used. There is a guy singing in Japanese during the credits. Real Bout Fatal Fury Special ---------------------------- When you beat the game you are treated to a music video starring Blue Mary and called "Blue Mary Blues". There's new options on the options screen. You can select the stage you want to fight in the VS mode and you can select the mode of play which can be Arcade, Vs or Original. After you beat the game, you get a screen asking if you want to save your game. In that screen there will a portrait of whichever was your last boss, either Geese or Krauser. Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 The Newcomers ------------------------------------ After you beat the game, you get a screen asking if you want to save your game. In that screen there will a portrait of whichever was your last boss, either Geese, Krauser or Alfred. It has a Vs and Practice mode. Samurai Shodown --------------- No notable differences. Samurai Shodown 3 Blades of Blood --------------------------------- If you listen to one of the tracks in the sound screen, you can hear Rimururu (or Nakoruru) saying something about Samurai Shodown RPG. Samurai Shodown 4 Amakusa's Revenge ----------------------------------- From the title screen you can select between starting the game, the title demo, how to play or exit the game. If you start the game you go to the game's actual title screen and you can select from various new modes such as: Game Start 1 (play with story sequences and time limit), Game Start 2 (play without the story sequences and no time limit), Vs mode and Practice. You can play as Zankuro in 2 players mode if you press and hold the D button and then select any character. _/_/_/_/_/ Conclusion _/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ I hope this was of some help to you.
