Super Smash Brothers Yoshi Character FAQ Nintendo 64 Version 1.1 1/7/00 Written By: Outkast outkast325@hotmail.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Super Smash Brothers - Yoshi ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------ table of contents ------------------ 1) Intro 2) Update History 3) Yoshi Profile 4) Yoshi's Move List 5) Strengths/Weaknesses 6) Yoshi FAQ 7) Credits 8) Legal Info ------------------ table of contents ------------------ ++++++++++++++++++ 1) Intro ++++++++++++++++++ Welcome to this Yoshi character guide for this awesome fighting game that we call Super Smash Brothers! Not only is it a good fighting game with cool objects, and cool places to play at, but it's you versus other various Nintendo characters! Very cool. Yes, I know there are lots of FAQs and Move Lists at GameFAQs already for this game, and I am aware of all the character FAQs. Well, guess what? There's no Yoshi character FAQs and this game has been out for over a month already! So, I felt bad for this famed Nintendo character and whipped up this little FAQ. Aren't I so generous? The only thing that could improve this game is Wario being a character in the game. Wario - I can't get enough of the guy. Note: This is very much like my Mario character FAQ, so please don't get confused. I used the same layout, and some of the same content except modified into Yoshi material. Yoshi's move list has also been completely changed. This should eliminate all confusion you have if you just read the Mario character guide. ++++++++++++++++++ 2) Update History ++++++++++++++++++ 1/7/00 Version 1.7 No actual update or changes to the FAQ... I just changed my alias and e-mail address and replaced it everywhere in this FAQ. Please note that cripplerx@hotmail.com is no longer my e-mail address! Outkast outkast325@hotmail.com P.S. - If you want the reason for the name change, mail me and let me know and I'll tell you (this isn't the place to explain). Version 1.0 (7/28/99) - FAQ Release. - All sections added. - This FAQ will probably not be updated in the future (maybe once). ++++++++++++++++++ 3) Yoshi Profile ++++++++++++++++++ - He's Yoshi; the big green dinosaur. Sounds like Barney's cousin, right? - Nintendo games he appears in: NES Yoshi, Yoshi's Cookie. Super NES Yoshi's Cookie, Yoshi's Safari, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Nintendo 64 Yoshi's Story, Mario Kart 64, Super Mario 64, Mario Party, Mario Golf. Gameboy / Gameboy Color Yoshi, Yoshi' Cookie. - Not bad, for a guy that's not the most famed. - Yoshi doesn't have any girlfriends in any of his Nintendo games... Maybe Barney can hook him up. - No relation to any characters; friends with Mario. +++++++++++++++++++++ 4) Yoshi's Move List +++++++++++++++++++++ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Moves With The B Button ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- B Egg Down + B Bomb Up + B Egg Throw ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Moves With The A Button ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Punch Down + A Tail Spin Up + A Super Head Butt Walking + A Kick A + A+ A Punching/Kicking Combo ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Special Moves ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- R Jumping Kick Running + R Spinning Head Butt Jump + Down + R Super Kicks Jump + Up + R Jumping Spin ++++++++++++++++++++++++ 5) Strengths/Weaknesses ++++++++++++++++++++++++ Strengths - His basic egg move is pretty good and is effective most of the time that you use it. - The bomb throw, though not unique to Yoshi's character, is also a good move and when used with strategy, can be used to the fullest. - Like Mario, Pikachu, Luigi, etc., Yoshi is small and is a tougher target for your opponent's to get to. While you've got Link and DK, these bug guys hanging around, they're easy to hit, but it's the complete opposite with Yoshi. - Some of Yoshi's moves (particularly the bomb throw) can be used to fend off opponent's, meaning if someone is charging after you with a hammer, you can keep your distance with the bomb. Weaknesses - Yoshi is certainly not the strongest/most powerful fighter in the game. - Again, some of his moves are dissapointments, and you'll have to rely on weapons like swords, baseball bats, and hammers of you want to be successful. +++++++++++++ 6) Yoshi FAQ +++++++++++++ ===== Q: What are the different outfits Yoshi can have in the game? A: Oops, I guess I should have stuck this in the profile, right? #1 The normal Yoshi colors. #2 Blue Yoshi with purple shoes. #3 Yellow Yoshi with green shoes. #4 Red Yoshi with Purple Shoes. ===== ===== Q: How do I access Yoshi in the game? A: He's not a secret character, you can be him immediately without having to beat anything. ===== ===== Q: Do you recommend me being Yoshi in the game? A: Personally, I like Link and Pikachu, but be sure to give everyone a try, including Yoshi. ===== ===== Q: Are you going to list the damage caused to opponent's after Yoshi's moves? A: No. This is just a simple, quick FAQ that was made to allow you to use Yoshi's moves and hopeufully be good with Yoshi. ++++++++++++++++++ 7) Credits ++++++++++++++++++ It took me awhile to get the games in my hands (I rented it when it first came out, then it was off the shelves at Blockbuster for months). Then, I had to sit down and write down Yoshi's moves which wasn't too enjoyable (and it hurt my hand), but all in all, this FAQ isn't that big; it's just to help you out if you decide to be Yoshi.
