Crimson for the MSX Developed by Xtal Soft and published by Scap Trust Released in 1987 FAQ/Walkthrough by KingMikeX 7/23/17 ------------ INTRODUCTION ------------ This is a guide to Crimson, an RPG for the MSX2 released in 1987 by Scap Trust. The game was developed by Xtal Soft. It was only released in Japanese. This is a fairly standard console RPG although it is fairly non-linear, so you can do stuff in mostly an order. Though, of course, some tasks need to be done before others. This guide is written based on the cartridge version. It was released on floppy disk as well, but I don't know if that version is different in any way. -------- CONTROLS -------- Extremely simple. The arrow keys move and the Spacebar is the input button you will use for most of the game. For the few menus that permit exiting, use the Escape key. --------------- STARTING A GAME --------------- When you begin, you will see the title screen. As it it says, push Space to advance to the startup menu. From there you have an option to continue a saved game or begin a new game. When starting a new game, you must choose to name yourself with Hiragana or Katakana characters. To save a game, you will need a "PAC" cartridge inserted in the second slot to write a save file to. ----- MENUS ----- To open the menu, just press Space while standing around anywhere. There are five options: -Return to Game -Items -Equipment -Status -System The items command is used to use items or magic held by a party member. Usable items, magic and equipment together are limited to 10 for each. The Status screen will show your character stats as well as held story items. The System menu can be used to Save the Game or change the text speed. Saving can only be done in towns and, as mentioned above, you will need a PAC cartridge inserted in the second slot to be able to save. ------ COMBAT ------ I'm not really going to go into combat strategy since it has pretty limited options. You only really get a few spells. Just the essential healing spells and a couple attack spells. The one thing that's REALLY annoying about this game is that RNG can VERY heavily dictate battles. I'm not even really sure how stats work in this game. I'm going on the assumption that STR raises the possible damage you do to enemies and DEF will lower the possible damage taking from enemies. Maybe DEX affects the hit rate. But it seems unless you significantly overlevel the enemy, you can expect to miss pretty often and do VERY random damage. Late game especially, it's not uncommon to do 60 damage to an enemy one turn, then miss the enemy the next two turns and then do 2 damage the turn after that. ----------- WALKTHROUGH ----------- Tast Village ------------ As you start, your grandfather (I guess) is dying and he tells your father has gone out to defeat the lord Crimson and has been presumed dead. He leaves you 200 Gold in a box. Use it to buy stuff. Exploring the town, you will find a couple shops. You learn the valley to the south is the Valley of Departed Souls. There is also another valley to the east, a Ruins Valley. In the weapon shop, you can buy: Dagger 20 Copper sword 120 Steel whip 240 Iron axe 400 Leather breastplate 500 Leather shield 100 At the item shop, you can buy: Medicine 20 Antidote 10 Medical 2000 Poisonkiller 800 Terrorkiller 750 As you may guess, Medicine heals HP. It heals abour 40, I think. Antidote cures poison, but I think it will be quite a while before anything actually poisons you. The other three are magic spells. They take up space in your inventory, which is limited to 10 items (although in this game, key items are kept separate and don't count towards you item limit). Much later in the game, you will want to buy spells to conserve item space but for now items will do. Medical heals full HP at a cost of 8 MP. The other two heal status conditions for 3 MP each. Poison does nothing in battle but drops 1 HP for each step outside of battle. Terror makes your characters afraid and useless in battle. Stepping out to the overworld, you will find you do not get attacked on the overworld. But you have two choices, the Valley of Departed Souls to the south or the Ruins Valley to the east. You should probably go to the Ruins Valley first. Ruins Valley #1 --------------- Enemies Oruga Maximum Party:2 HP: 15 STR: 6 DEF: 7 DEX: 2 GOLD: 7 Myuuroru Maximum Party:2 HP: 9 STR: 4 DEF: 6 DEX: 5 GOLD: 6 Inside you will learn there are four Ruins Valleys in this world, and they are linked together. By stepping on blue warp tiles, you will warp to another Ruins. But for now, you probably want to stay in this one. You begin outside, and from the outside, there are three towers you can enter and explore. Right now, you want to make your way to the northern tower. On the first floor, go down along the southern path to find the stairs to the second floor. On the second floor, there is an old man. Talk to him and you will find he is dying put passes on his Gold Medal for you to give to his son, should you ever meet his son. This is the only thing you need in this dungeon. It isn't clear but you will find a use for it soon enough. Valley of Departed Souls ------------------------ Enemies Ranpaka Maximum Party:3 HP: 13 STR: 8 DEF: 9 DEX: 7 GOLD: 9 Dokurogumo Maximum Party:3 HP: 12 STR: 9 DEF: 10 DEX: 11 GOLD: 10 Hitokuibaba Maximum Party:3 HP: 11 STR: 6 DEF: 8 DEX: 5 GOLD: 8 Yoroimogura Maximum Party:3 HP: 13 STR: 8 DEF: 12 DEX: 6 GOLD: 12 This is a valley which you must pass through to reach the next section of the overworld. But you also have something to do here. Walking around, you will find three staircases as well as a mysterious statue in the middle with three different-colored heads. Each head is asking for a matching stone. You will find the three stones in the three different side paths. In the cave to the southwest, you should walk all the way down, then left. Take the second path up to find a treasure chest with the Red Stone. In the cave to the southeast, you should take the path all the way to the right. At the end, you will the son of the dying man you met in the Ruins Valley. He will trade the Gold Medal for the Blue Stone. In the northern cave, take the path up and to the right, then the first path down to lead to the treasure chest with the Red Stone. With all three stones, head back to the statue in the middle of the valley and put them in. The statue will crumble to reveal a staircase. Go down it to find a treasure chest with the Red Key. Once you have a colored Key, you can open all locked doors you will find of the same color. Now leave the valley through the east exit to continue on in the overworld. Soon you will reach a village that is locked with a Blue Key. Since you don't have the Blue Key yet, continue on to the west to find the city of Kandose. Kandose City ------------ Speaking to the people in town, you learn several things: -Ruins Valley #2 is to the west of the village. -There's a terrible demon at an inn in the mountains, so stay away. -There's a strong prince in Kodahl Castle. -The Mirror of Truth can see a person's true character. -An old man has a daughter Linda, who lives in the locked village of Ibuha, and she probably has the Shimmering Ball. -The queen of Eroia probably has the Ice Ball. In the weapon shop you can buy Iron Axe 400 Iron Spear 800 Steel Sword 1650 Leather Breastplate 500 Chain Garment 1530 Oak Shield 550 You can explore the Ruins Valley to the west but there's nothing of interest right now. So let's head back to the east, and past the locked village. We'll find the castle or Eroia. Eroia Castle ------------ Eroia is a castle of only women. To protect the castle, it is built in a confusing shape. We need to find the queen. To find her, head east to the first roundabout hallway. Then head up three or four roundabouts and head west, then up all the way to find the queen's chamber. Speaking to her, she doesn't have the Ice Ball. It seems someone hid it in Mognes Cave (which we learn from another NPC is directly to the east of the castle) and that her best soldier Isabella has gone out there. So head directly east (between the lake and the mountains) to find Mognes Cave in the mountains to the east. Mognes Cave ----------- Enemies Guruguru Maximum Party:5 HP: 24 STR: 19 DEF: 18 DEX: 13 GOLD: 20 Zuuru Maximum Party:4 HP: 17 STR: 18 DEF: 15 DEX: 20 GOLD: 19 Wairudaa Maximum Party:5 HP: 21 STR: 20 DEF: 17 DEX: 18 GOLD: 22- 23 Moora Maximum Party:5 HP: 23 STR: 19 DEF: 21 DEX: 15 We want to head east and north, past the first intersection, at the second one we will find the path blocked by a Blue Key door. Keep going east, pass by the stairs and keep going east as far as possible. When reaching the end, head north and take the left intersection. Walk past the stairs and then head up. At the end, you will meet Isabella. If you have spoken to the queen of Eroia first, Isabella will join you as your second party member. Isabella also has the Blue Key, which is now yours to use. Beware though, as Isabella starts at level 1. And while she holds some okay items you can equip, for some reason her HP is initalized to 0. So unless you heal her, she will die upon any hit from an enemy. Isabella comes with a spell known as the Signas Warp. It allows you to create a warp point anywhere in the world (use the spell from the Items menu, then it will give you an option to WARP to a previously created point, or to SET the current location as a warp point). By default the warp point is set to the location where she joins you. Now with the Blue Key, head back to the Blue door I mentioned before and you can find a treasure chest with the Ice Ball. It is the first of five Balls you will find in the game. You can tell because one of the dragon's mouths in the HUD will open to show the ball. You could continue on towards the back of the cave to meet Mognes, but he will tell you to go to the Speechless Forest to defeat a monster there. Head back to Eroia and then head north to find the city of Dorsa. (you may remember the Blue Key can be used to enter Ibuha, but it will turn into a quest which requires an item we don't have yet.) Dorsa City ---------- Here you will learn that to the southeast is the Speechless Forest, a dreadful place. Also that a man called Moran in Yonban village has the Light Ball. So now you have one Ball and know where two more are. The Shimmering Ball with Linda of Ibuha and the Light Ball with Moran. In the weapon shop Steel Whip 240 Iron Spear 800 Chain Garment 1530 Steel Shield 2100 Leather Cap 880 and in the Item shop Medicine 20 Antidote 10 Medical 2000 Poisonkiller 800 Spark 1320 Spark is an attack spell that attacks one enemy. Speechless Forest ----------------- Enemies Buuuduuzonbi Uses Terror Maximum Party:5 HP: 25 STR: 22 DEF: 21 DEX: 20 GOLD: 23 Zuuru Maximum Party:4 HP: 17 STR: 18 DEF: 15 DEX: 20 GOLD: 19 Reoparudo Maximum Party:5 HP: 30 STR: 24 DEF: 24 DEX: 25 GOLD: 24 From an NPC at the beginning, you will learn of a monster that curses people that it tries to eat with its tounge. Those affected will not be able to speak. But to fight it, we want to start by heading south and then all the way east and all the way north to find a cave entrance. From the next room, we have a choice of four paths. The southeast one is what we want. Following it will take us right to the boss, the Taneater. Taneater Maximum Party:1 HP:60 STR:36 DEF:40 DEX:30 Beating the Taneater will inflict a curse upon us which will make us unable to speak to most NPCs in the game. We must go find Mognes in Mognes Mountain, as we would learn if we had let him tell us to fight Taneater first. Mognes Mountain --------------- Again, head back to the eastmost side as we did when looking for Isabella. Generally we want to head north as much as possible, talking the stairs whenever we see them. Eventually it will lead us to Mognes on the northwest corner of the upper floor. He will cure our curse as well as give us the Green Key. Now we have the Red, Blue and Green Keys. Stuff is opening up for us. Dorsa City ---------- In the Inn, there is an NPC which tells us about a thief that stole a Microboat. He is in the Ruins Valley #2 (west of Kandose). With the Green Key, we can find him. Ruins Valley #2 --------------- Enemies Sekkajin Maximum Party:3 HP: 30 STR: 12 DEF: 12 DEX: 10 Uses Medusa Gaaron Maximum Party:3 HP: 15 STR: 12 DEF: 10 DEX: 12 Myuuroru Maximum Party:2 HP: 9 STR: 4 DEF: 6 DEX: 5 Oruga Maximum Party:2 HP: 15 STR: 6 DEF: 7 DEX: 2 GOLD: 7 The ruins we are intersted in is the eastern one. From the start, head up to find a stairway to the second floor. Now head all the way down then all the way right to find a stairway down to B1. Walk around to the stairway you immediately see to go to B2. On B2, you will see a choice of two paths up. Take the right one up, and you will find a green door. Walk through it and, if you spoke to the guy in the Dorsa Inn, he will fight you. Bison Maximum Party:5 HP:24 STR:15 DEF:11 DEX:16 Defeat them to get the Microboat. With the Microboat, you can now cross waters on the overworld. We can now reach two nearby areas we couldn't before. Yonban, to the east of Eroia, across the lake. We can also take on the quest in Ibuha. Attempting the mission in Yonban will prove beyond our level at this point. We should check out Ibuha. Ibuha Village ------------- Entering, we find the village was locked in order to protect them from Crimson's troops. If we try to find Linda, it turns out she has gone to a campsite. The campsite is to the east in the lake to the south. But the boat rental shop is out of boats. That's why we needed the Microboat. Weapons Battle Hammer 2800 Steel Armor 3850 Steel Shield 2100 Leather Cap 3580 Items Medical 2000 Poisonkiller 750 Medusa 1200 Fire 3200 Campsite -------- Enemies Supurattaa Maximum Party:7 HP: 35 STR: 24 DEF: 24 DEX: 24 GOLD: 24 Jakuson Maximum Party:7 HP: 30 STR: 20 DEF: 22 DEX: 22 GOLD: 21 Baisun Maximum Party:5 HP: 24 STR: 15 DEF: 11 DEX: 16 GOLD: 18 Entering the campsite, we find lots of tents. It seems a number of people have been killed and those that haven't aren't Linda. You can check all the tents, but if you want to go straight to here, head east from the start until it forks up, then head up until you find tents. Then take it west all the way you can. Then at the end, the northern tent is Linda's. Speak to her to obtain the Shimmering Ball, your second. Although Yonban has been mentioned as another place with a Ball, it will be much tougher at this point, so it's probably better to skip it for now. If you want to try another dungeon, head north from Dorsa then head east to find the Demon's Bridge. Otherwise you can ride the Microboat north of the bridge from Mognes' Cave. There will be a one-tile spot you can go to avoid the bridge and head east then south to Sheex City if you want to upgrade your equipment. It's the most expensive in the game, though. Demon's Bridge -------------- Enemies Okutoman Maximum Party:4 HP: 42 STR: 27 DEF: 27 DEX: 15 GOLD: 27 Beaado Maximum Party:4 HP: 25 STR: 13 DEF: 9 DEX: 13 GOLD: 16 Doromajin Maximum Party:5 HP: 41 STR: 24 DEF: 27 DEX: 20 GOLD: 25 To cross bridge, you can just head directly south then east to the exit. There is a boss fight to the north, but you may want to pass it up for now. Iezum Maximum Party:1 HP:100 STR: 80 DEF: 80 DEX: 60 Heading south from the bridge is a swamp in the middle of a mountain. If you want to rest up, head south to find Sheex City. Otherwise, you should pass up the swamp anyways and go in the lake to the east to find Kodahl Castle. Kodahl Castle ------------- The Blue Key will be needed to finish this dungeon. Enemies Ikkakuki Maximum Party:5 HP: 50 STR: 30 DEF: 50 DEX: 35 GOLD: 66 Neomyuuroru Maximum Party:7 HP: 55 STR: 33 DEF: 55 DEX: 38 GOLD: 70 Supurattaa Maximum Party:7 HP: 35 STR: 24 DEF: 24 DEX: 24 GOLD: 24 Jakuson Maximum Party:7 HP: 30 STR: 20 DEF: 22 DEX: 22 GOLD: 21 Right in the entrance is a boss fight against 5 Ikkakuki. The simple way through the castle is to take the outermost edge until you reach the large chamber on the east side. There you will encounter your second boss fight, 1 Neomyuuroru. Moving ahead, you will encounter the king of the castle. But he's been killed by the invaders. He wants you to take his son Arnold in the basement. Going into the basement, you will find a Blue Key door. Inside is Arnold, but he wants to test you first. He will open a path to the next room. Inside you will fight the last mini-boss, 2 Midoroman. Midoroman HP: 44 STR: 28 DEF: 36 DEX: 35 Afterwards, Arnold will join you. As with Isabella, he starts at level 1 and with his HP at 0 for some reason. Be prepared to heal him. In Arnold's room is a treasure chest with 5000 Gold. Arnold has a spell known as the Pegasus Warp. It is the same as Isabella's magic, but it allows you to set a SECOND warp point, effectively. Now is a good time to heal and do some grinding and upgrading equipment, now that the full team is together. The next strongest dungeon is the Poison Swamp we past by earlier. It's optional. Poison Swamp ------------ Enemies Midoroman Maximum Party:5 HP: 44 STR: 28 DEF: 36 DEX: 35 GOLD: 58 Furaingupoizun Maximum Party:7 HP: 43 STR: 27 DEF: 33 DEX: 40 Deruderon Maximum Party:5 HP: 45 STR: 30 DEF: 39 DEX: 32 GOLD: 64 Guratofu Uses Poison Maximum Party:4 HP: 48 STR: 33 DEF: 36 DEX: 38 GOLD: 72 This dungeon is a maze of dead ends. But if you want to go directly to the end, just head west from the start and take the first branch up after that. It will lead to a house in the middle. Enter and go downstairs to an underground cave. Then head east at the first chance and then all the way north to find an NPC at the end. He will only recognize Arnold, and if Arnold is in the party he will give you the Gratov Poison. Demon Bridge ------------ Now to take down the boss. It might be a tough one. From the west entrance, take the north bridge and then head directly east to find an old man and the boss. I think the old man might be suggesting Gratov's Poison, but I did this game out of order so I beat this boss first. You will fight three of them (even though I think the ROM states you should only fight one of them at a time, but unlike other bosses, they never appear in the wild). Iezumu Maximum Party:1 HP:100 STR: 80 DEF: 80 DEX: 60 Defeating it will grant you access to the Mirror of Truth in the treasure box beyond. Now that we can see one's true character, let's check out the haunted inn in the mountains we may have heard of before. That is to the west of the Demon's Bridge. Mountain Inn ------------ With the Mirror of Truth, talk to the Innkeeper to reveal itself as a monster, Morza. Morza HP:94 STR: 48 DEF: 62 DEX: 40 Now you can enter the stairs to the basement. In the basement, you will an employee of the Inn who is upset you killed his master. It's another Morza. After that, you can open the box beyond and you will find you have released the souls of previous travelers killed at the Inn. Their spirits can go to heaven now. And you can get the Dark Ball, the third of the balls you need. Only a few places left to go. Next up would be Yonban, but it's a steep climb in difficulty. You may want to grind and upgrade equipment now if you haven't. To find Yonban, use the Microboat to ride in the lake to the northeast of Ibuha. Yonban Village -------------- We already know that a man named Moran in Yonban has the Light Ball, the fourth that we need. Well, speaking to him we learn that his daughter has been kidnapped in the Incubus' Castle to the south. But we may want to check out the volcano to the west. Weapon Shop Steel Sword 1650 Battle Hammer 2800 Hero's Blade 7800 Steel Armor 3850 Steel Shield 2100 Iron Helmet 3580 Item Shop Medicine 20 Antidote 10 Medical 2000 Poisonkiller 800 Crossfire 8300 Yonban Volcano -------------- Enemies Aihiitaa Uses Fire Breath Maximum Party:5 HP: 72 STR: 37 DEF: 60 DEX: 41 GOLD:106 Gurimoru Maximum Party:5 HP: 66 STR: 38 DEF: 63 DEX: 40 Meza Maximum Party:5 HP: 69 STR: 36 DEF: 60 DEX: 45 GOLD:106 Dorafaa Uses Fire Breath Maximum Party:5 HP: 72 STR: 41 DEF: 66 DEX: 50 GOLD:110 On the volcano, we will find lava tiles that do 1 HP damage per step. The shortest route to the summit is to go east from the start, then take the first north, then west, then straight north. Go right through a long string of lava tiles (that's 13 HP damage, which should be a small amount by this point in the game). Once past that, take the next east then go directly north up to a house on the summit. Speak to the NPC inside to get the Fire Bell, the fourth. Incubus' Castle --------------- The Blue and Green Keys are needed to finish this dungeon. Though the Green was needed to get the Microboat to even get here. Enemies Jinmengumo Uses Poison Maximum Party:6 HP: 72 STR: 39 DEF: 57 DEX: 55 GOLD:106 Mudii Maximum Party:4 HP: 75 STR: 42 DEF: 63 DEX: 45 GOLD:102 I'm going to just go out and spoil that if you thought Incubus was a single entity, you are wrong. Be prepared to fight at least four of them before you're through, if I recall right. Well, to start, head straight up into the castle. When you have a choice, go to the left and then straight up to find a stairs to the second floor. On the second floor, go down. You will need to enter the Green Key door. Inside, there is a statue you need to push (just examine it by walking into it) to open a pathway in the hallway coming up. Go back in the hallway and continue down. You will see the path you opened, but if you want you can go down a little more to find a Blue Key door. Inside that room you can push another statue to unlock a path outside, but it's optional. Still on the second floor, go to the east tp find a girl. Speak to her, and... it's Incubus. Incubus HP:140 STR: 68 DEF: 96 DEX: 60 You will find stairs to the first floor. Downstairs you will find another girl. Another Incubus. This opens a room to the east. Another girl, another Incubus. This will open the room to the Elder's daughter, who is NOT an Incubus. There's also a chest with 5000 Gold. If you opened that optional switch on the second floor, then from the entrance you can head east to find a path out to the garden. Then you can talk a basement path back up to the second floor to find another 5000 Gold in a box. Crimson's Castle ---------------- Enemies Supurattaa Maximum Party:7 HP: 35 STR: 24 DEF: 24 DEX: 24 GOLD: 24 Taneater Maximum Party:1 HP: 60 STR: 36 DEF: 40 DEX: 30 GOLD: 76 Incubus Uses Medusa Maximum Party:1 HP:140 STR: 68 DEF: 96 DEX: 60 GOLD:188 Mooza Maximum Party:1 HP: 94 STR: 48 DEF: 62 DEX: 40 GOLD:102 To find Crimson, take the first stairway up to the second floor. Then on the second floor, go to the west wall and take stairway down that is on the west wall. From there go east and take the first stairway you can, then go up to the third floor. Then just go up, past a few damage floors (2 HP per step) and find Crimson. Crimson Maximum Party:1 HP:105 STR: 64 DEF: 96 DEX: 60 You beat Crimson! Now you're done with the game! No... someone (you? the narrator?) even speaks of how weak Crimson was. Then you hear a voice tell you that was an imposter, and as well this was a fake castle (explains why for a "final" dungeon the shortest path was the right one) You get the Yellow Key and he demands you go to his castle. With all five Balls, we have some treasure to collect before we challenge the real Crimson. If you haven't found all three heroic attributes (indicated by the head of that guy in the HUD above your stats window), then we should go get them now. Tast Village ------------ Way back where we started the game. With the Red Key, you can unlock the northeast door in town to find your way to the forest in back where you can find a house with the Valor of Badorla. Ruins Valley #2 --------------- The one west of Kandose City. Enter the left ruin, go to the northeast corner to find the stairs to B1. Left and stright down to the stairs to B2. Straight up to the stairs to B3. Down all the way and left. There you will find an old man. If you have the Valor of Badorla and all five Balls, he will give you the Ancient Armor, the strongest in the game. Lightning Mountain ------------------ Enemies Guzuzuma Maximum Party:5 HP:100 STR: 64 DEF: 75 DEX: 55 GOLD:110 Zumanari Uses Thunder Maximum Party:5 HP: 97 STR: 48 DEF: 75 DEX: 55 GOLD:120 Mezaburuu Uses Thunder Maximum Party:5 HP: 95 STR: 42 DEF: 69 DEX: 50 GOLD:118 SOMETHING STRANGE...! DISTORTION...! WHAT'S THIS...? THE COLOSSEUM... This is a mountain affected by some sort of god of distortion. As soon as you enter, you are warped around to eight different warp points. You can select the one you want with the Spacebar. Like some other dungeons, it's a huge maze that is mostly unecessary. Just choose the sixth location (the one with the warp in the southwest corner of the room) and head straight up to find a room with an NPC who will give you the Power of Goraiah. Now we have one last attribute to find, but it will be the longest one. Ruins Valley #3 --------------- To the southwest of Sheex City. We want to enter the leftmost ruin. From the start, straight down to B1. Up, east then down to B2. Up all the way and then follow the path to find an NPC. If you have the Power of Goraiah and all five Balls, they will give you the Ancient Shield. Now we need to go back outside. Our next destination is Ruins Valley #4. However, that one can only be accessed by warping to it. Now we want the eastmost ruin in this valley. Enter it, then take the stairway you see to go to B1. You will see a Blue Key door. Enter it then take the west path to B2. Now just go up and right to find the warp to Ruins Valley #4. Ruins Valley #4 --------------- The most annoying of the Ruins Valleys because we have to use the warps to navigate. From the start, go down and east to find a stairway to 1F. The exit from the tower is below but don't take it because it is useless. Instead head left then up all the way to reach the stairs to B2. Go east all the way and then down to find a warp to tower #2. Inside Tower #2, head left then down all the way to find the stairs to 1F. Go right and down to exit outside. Outside go up to find Tower #3. Inside Tower #3 just walk up and then all the way up then right, then up to find the warp to Tower #4. Inside Tower #4, just follow the path until you find stairs up to 1F. Then go right and down to go outside and the exit to the overworld will be there. Go north to the swamp. Mountain Swamp -------------- Enemies Girusuneeku Maximum Party:5 HP:110 STR: 51 DEF: 81 DEX: 70 GOLD:132 Teraafisshu Uses Terror Maximum Party:7 HP:105 STR: 42 DEF: 78 DEX: 75 GOLD:112 Guzuu Uses Terror Maximum Party:5 HP:108 STR: 54 DEF: 84 DEX: 68 Go up, into the paths across the lake. Take the first left and then the path up to find a stairs down. Undergdound, you'll find an NPC with the Justice of Lapnos. Ruins Valley #4 --------------- I did a bad thing and didn't write down where the NPC is. I think it is Tower #4 (the first one you enter coming back from the Swamp), right and up on 1F. It will give you the Ancient Sword if you have the Justice of Lapnos and all five Balls. Now with the best equipment, you can go through the swamp. Mountain Swamp -------------- Another dungeon with a lot of dead ends. To find the way through, go into the lake and take the first right. Then go all the way right, all the way up, then all the way left to find the boss. Mourasu Maximum Party:1 HP:192 STR: 80 DEF: 72 DEX: 75 Unlike other bosses, this one seems to (usually?) respawn, right in the way. So take advantage of your two warp spells to skip it in the future. Final Dungeon ------------- Enemies Neogaaron Maximum Party:7 HP:117 STR: 57 DEF: 84 DEX: 75 Darutania Uses Medusa Maximum Party:7 HP:126 STR: 75 DEF: 87 DEX: 83 Zaikuroo Uses Crossfire Maximum Party:7 HP:132 STR: 78 DEF: 90 DEX: 80 Rongirusu Maximum Party:7 HP:120 STR: 71 DEF: 75 DEX: 70 Bandoora Maximum Party:7 HP:123 STR: 72 DEF: 78 DEX: 75 Neobaisun Maximum Party:7 HP:114 STR: 60 DEF: 87 DEX: 80 At long last we have reached the final dungeon. At this point you should have the Red, Blue, Green and Yellow Keys. I think inside this dungeon is the only place you are forbidden from SETTING a warp point (you can still warp OUT if you're in trouble, you just can't warp IN). To start, head right to find a demon NPC. But he's actually not bad and will tell you the password needed to enter Crimson's castle. Go back to the Yellow Key door and say the password to enter. We have a couple optional items to collect in this dungeon. FIRST OPTIONAL ITEM: THE BLACK KEY Enter Crimson's castle, then in the courtyard, go straight up. You will find a small room, then a second bigger room. Be careful as this second room has hidden fake floors that make you fall to the basement below. Once inside the room, walk two steps right or left, then up to the wall, then ONE step towards the center, then up to avoid the hidden pits. In the third room (the big center room of the first floor), I take the path along the left wall. AVOIDING the bottem-left corner tile, walk to the left wall then up. AFTER passing the SECOND yellow door on the left, take a step right and then continue up towards the Yellow Key door on the north wall. In the fourth room, take the east Yellow Key door and follow this path to find the Black Key (northeast room of 1F). SECOND OPTIONAL ITEM: THE WHITE KEY Back to the entrance. Again in the inside courtyard, go west to find a stairway to the basement. In the basement, go south all the way to find a cell with a Black Key door. Go through it and follow the path to find the NPC you could see outside. That is the elder of Sheex and indeed he has the White Key. You can use the White Key to enter his house to get the Machites Mask, the best helmet in the game. That is the only White Key door in the game. THE FINAL ASSAULT Follow the steps in the Black Key section above through the first foor rooms of Crimson's Castle. But in the fourth one, take the west exit. Must of this floor is linear. However, be aware that certain tiles are mandatory encounters which will force a battle against a group of enemies. I'm not sure if the enemy is preset, but the quantity is not. The first stairway you find on 2F will lead you back down to 1F and to the basement. There you can use the Black Key to open the cell where our hero can find the corpse of his dead father (RIP :( ) and get the solution to the final puzzle. But we can save our hero an unfortunate meeting and skip it. Eventually you will come to a room with many colored doors. In the first room, walk to the side and then up (there will be a fake floor one step up from the entrance) to the Red door to the left. Then next right to the Green door. Third, left to the Blue door (WATCH OUT for a fake floor two steps below the blue door). Then right up to the final chamber with the final showdown. King Crimson Maximum Party:1 HP:230 STR:200 DEF:240 DEX:100 King Crimson is engulfed in scarlet-red flames! He's dead now, right? If you play a lot of RPGs you may not be terribly surprised to find he has a second form, as he is actually a robot with special metal. Great Crimson Maximum Party:1 HP:250 STR:210 DEF:250 DEX:120 I think what happens in the ending is that Crimson is unable to move and then crumbles to dust. Then there's a length slow text scroll. I'm not good enough to properly translate it but with machine assistance I can guess. Probably some kind of philosophical thing wondering why the ancient people created such a robot and maybe we should be better people and not create evil killer robots. The five jewels and the mask (which you may or may not have gone for, marked optional above) were prophecized and wondering if they tortured humans and Crimsons but regardless because of our brave heroes Crimson won't appear again. ----- ITEMS ----- Usable Items Medicine 20 Tast, Kandose, Dorsa, Yonban, Sheex Recover 40?
