Object of AGONY ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ The object of AGONY is to move a ball across the playing field to the opposite corner. The player must determine the path to take to insure completion of the puzzle. Keeping the player from accomplishing their goal are two rows of blocks which move once during each turn. The rows and columns of blocks have spaces at random intervals allowing for spaces for the player to move the ball across the playing field. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ 02. Exit Pressing this key will cause the game to exit at any time. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ 04. Playing Agony ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Players move the Ball to a square by using the arrow keys on the cell phone. The player can move the Ball one square either up/down or left/right. It is alright to move onto a square that has a block on it. The square to the right of the Ball is empty but after the blocks move, there will be a block on that square. A safe move would be to either go up or to the left of the Ball. The player chooses to go up. After the player moves, the Red Rows move one square to the left and the Blue Columns move one square down. If there are no Red Row Blocks or Blue Column Blocks on the spot where the ball had been moved, the player can continue on . If there is a Row or Column Block on the spot where the player has moved their Ball, the player dies ending the level. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ 05. Playing Modes ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ The default playing mode for AGONY is Unlimited Turned Based Moves. In this default mode, the players has as many moves as they need to reach the Finish Goal. Each level has a PAR number of moves the player can perform to reach the goal. To reach the best score, the player has to find a shorter path to the Finish Goal. Another scoring option is to play AGONY in the Limited Moves mode (either in Turn Based or Timed Move modes). In Limited Moves mode the player has only a set amount of moves to get to the Finish Goal. The player is awarded points for how close they get to the Finish Goal. There is always one path to the Finish Goal in the set amount of moves allotted (PAR). After the player has performed the allotted moves, they are told their score. The player then can choose to play the level over and try for a better score or go onto the next level. After the player has completed all of the levels, their score is compared to the "Round Score". ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ 06. Turn Based or Time Based ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ In both Limited Moves and Unlimited Moves, the Player has the option of playing AGONY in either a Turn Based Moves or Timed Base Moves. In Turn Based Mode, the player has as much time as they need to decide on their next move. In the Time Based Mode, the blocks will move automatically after a set amount of time. In Time Based Moves, the player also has the option of setting a difficulty setting. The harder the setting, the shorter the time is between the automatic moves. The difficulty settings are set in the Options Panel in the Menu. Once the Time Based Mode is chosen, the Difficuly Settings become active. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ 07. Scoring ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Here’s an example of the scoring for an Limited Moves game. The game of AGONY is divided into "Games" which have "Levels". A Game is the size of the playing field. There are three Game Sections with playing fields of 5x5, 6x6, and 7x7squares. Each one of those Games has five Levels. The best score for a 5x5 playing field is 25 points. For a 6x6 field the best score is 36 points, for a 7x7 field the best score is 49 points. It is possible for a player to get a higher score through the use of Bonuses. If the player chooses to play AGONY in the Unlimited Moves mode, their goal is to reach the Finish Goal to receive the maximum amount of points. If the player can not reach the Finish Goal at the time of their death, they will receive the points from the last square that they were on safely. After the Player dies, they will be shown their score. The Player can then decide to replay the level for a better score or the Player can move onto the next level. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ 08. Playing a Round of AGONY ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Think of playing AGONY as like playing a round of golf. Each level has a PAR Score. It is possible for the Player to get a better score than PAR. At the end of the level, the Player’s score is divided by the number of moves the player made during that level. That number is then mutiplied by 1000. Example: A Player has 36 points at the time of their death. The Player had made 30 moves before they died. The 36 points are divided by the 30 moves to get 1.2. The 1.2 is mulitplied by 1000 to get a score of 1200 for that level. The Overall Round Score is all of the points the Player has made divided by all of the moves the Player has made then multiplied by 1000. If a player made it to point when they ran out of moves, they would receive 12 points. (Column 4 x Row 3 = 12 points) ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ 09. Bonuses ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ As the Player moves onto higher levels, Bonuses will appear. If the Player can get their ball onto a Bonus Square, they will receive their bonus. There are two types of bonuses, Fixed and Random. Fixed Bonuses are set within the blocks and move with the blocks. Random Bonuses will appear and disappear at random times and places. Bonuses are as follows: Extra Moves The Extra Moves Bonus will award the player with one to three extra moves depending on the game/level they are on. This bonus works in both Limited and Unlimited Moves mode. The bonus allows the player to moves and not have their moves registered on the Moves Counter. The player will get one extra move on the 5x5 field, two moves on the 6x6 field and 3 moves on the 7x7 field. Bonus Points This Bonus will add points to the score of the player. Invincibility The Invincible Bonus will allow the player to occupy the same square as a block for one move. The player can play AGONY in the invincible mode for as long as they don’t occupy the same square as a block. Freeze Time The Freeze Time Bonus awards the the player by stopping the time clock in both of the Timed Moves Mode. This bonus is only available in both of Timed Moves Mode. When the player lands on the Freeze Time Bonus, the timer controlling the block movement will stop. The timer then resume after the player has moved the amount of moves awarded to them. In the 5x5 field, the player gets one move, in the 6x6 field the player gets two moves and on the 7x7 field the player gets three moves before the timer resumes the timed block movement. Mine This Bonus will destroy the Block that lands on the player. When the Player is playing Unlimited Moves, the Rows/Columns cycle through. When the Row/Columns cycle through, the destroyed Block will not be there. Diagonally Move The Diagonal Bonus awards the player with an extra automaticmove. If the player presses the right directional arrow key, the player moves one square to the right then one square up. The up directional arrow key will make the player move one square up then one square to the left. The left directional arrow key will cause the player to move one square to the left then one square down. Pressing the down directional arrow key will move the player one square down then one square to the right. Backwards Rows/Columns This bonus effects the block movement. When the Reverse Direction Bonus the blocks will move backwards one square. The red blocks will move one square to the right and the blue blocks will move upwards one square. This bonus may kill the player. Atomic Bomb This bonus will destroy the Blocks which are adjacent to the square that the Player is on.
