Walkthrough ----------------------------------------------------------- 003a. Hugo's House ----------------------------------------------------------- Begin the game by talking to your partner, Aidan. He gives you a photo of the victim and a scroll. After this, talk to Gabriela, the victim's wife. She gives you a signet ring. Look at the end table by the stairs. Pick up the newspaper, the fragment and the statuette. Look at the painting on the wall. Look at the painting on the wall. Click on it to move it upwards. You find a coin and a snake eye there. Use the signet ring on the door to the right to open it. Look at the clock here for a puzzle. The goal of the puzzle is to duplicate the picture from the other room. There is a picture of it, inside your diary. Put the statuette on the clock and swap statues so they are all in the right place. Then, click the blue clock hand once and the red clock hand three times, to get the clock at the proper time. Solving the puzzle gets you a piano key. Look at the cupboard door on the right, and you can pick up a treble clef. Finally, look at the desk here. Take the fragment, the musical notes and the photograph. Take the handkerchief to realize that the victim was having an affair, and his wife knew it. Talk to Aidan and go back a screen. Gabriela is kidnapped, making it impossible for you to talk to her. Pick up the fan she dropped; you will now be able to use fans as hints. Look at the piano. Put the musical notes here, and wipe the piano off with the handkerchief. A mysterious villain appears and blocks your access to the victim's room. Talk to Aidan, then go back to the piano. Use the treble clef to open it, put the missing key in place, and play the song to get a note and a hairpin. Go right. Use the hairpin on the cupboard lock to open it. Pick up the hammer, then go left. Examine the left door. Use the hammer here to break the door, so you can grab the handle. Pull the handle to open the door. Go through. The culprit escapes from you. Talk to Aidan, then take the lily lying on the ground (left of the statue). Take the statue's arm. Look at the gnome, then open its basket to get a flask. Look at the snake fountain. Use the snake eye on the fountain to make it start working. You get a fragment. Use the flask on the fountain to get a flask with water. Look at the table here. Pick up the cat and use the flask with water on the plaster castle to get the trowel. Use the trowel on the koala (in the lower/left pedestal) to pick it up. Go back into the house. Use the statue arm on the statue to fix the staircase, then use the lily to open the door to Hugo's room. Go inside. Look at the pillow on the bed. It hides a diary and pincers. Look at the cats (on a stand right of the door) and break them for a coin. Look at the mirror, talk to Aidan, and look at the mirror again. Use the pincers to get the fourth fragment. Look at the box below the mirror. Use the fragments here for a puzzle. Your goal is to press the arrows to form a picture of a bullfighter and a bull. Do this by pressing the top/right button, bottom/left button, and the top/right button. Finish by pressing the top/left button three times. Solving this puzzle gets you Esmerelda's letter and a key. Use the key to open the door. Go forward to the new room. Look at the stand on the right. Move the shirt aside to find a windup mouse. Look at the divider and put the cat in place to unlock a hidden objects scene. With this scene, find all the items on the list to get a belt. Go down a screen. Look at the stand left of the door, which has a snake inside. Use the wind-up mouse here, and the snake goes away. This gets you a curtain rod. Go through the doorway here and use the curtain rod on the curtain to the right. Take the coin, the scissors, then open the jack-in-the-box and take the paper inside. You see a scene of Gabriella leaving the area outside. Talk to Aidan and go down. The fox is sleeping on the bed. Zoom in on the fox and press the horn to make it move. Use the scissors on the bed here to get a woman in red. Go down and outside. Read the wallet that Gabriela dropped, then talk to Aidan. Look at the statue. There is a ladder on it. Use the belt on the ladder to fix it. The gate leading outside is locked. Put the woman in red on it for a puzzle. The goal of this puzzle is to have all the pieces go up one. Do this by pressing the right bull, the woman, then the left bull. You can now go forward to the town. 003b. Esmerelda ----------------------------------------------------------- You want to go forward twice, to the part of the town where there is a fire. Talk to Aidan. Look at the statue and it almost falls over on you. Examine the dining tables on the right to get a fork; use the ladder on the door of Hugo's office to get a horse. Go back a screen and use the horse on the left door to open it. This is a shop. Talk to the shop owner and pay him your three coins to get a smoker. Leave the shop and use the smoker on the bees for a hidden objects challenge. This gives you a feather. Use the feather on the mailbox to the right. Use the letter on the mailbox to confirm this is Esmerelda's house. Esmerelda herself appears. Follow her inside and talk to her. She gives you a chip. Use the chip on the cabinet in the lower/left for a puzzle. Move the pieces around so every piece is in the correct spot. The only spot without a piece is the middle one. A book is inside the drawer. Open it. Take the coin and the ribbon. Sadly, the writing is too small to read. Go outside and use the red ribbon on the green vines near Esmerelda's door. Put the koala in the slot for coins and a dart. Go to the store and use the dart on the machine to the left. This is a matching challenge. Find the matching pairs! Note that you can only flip over a piece, if it is the same color as the middle dart. Use the left and right arrows to move the darts. Solving the puzzle gets you a coin. Use your coins to buy a monocle from the man. Go back to Esmerelda's and use the monocle to read the writing. It seems her husband attacked the victim in a fit of rage. Once you read the note Esmerelda's husband wrote, you can enter Hugo's office. 003c. Hugo's Office ----------------------------------------------------------- Go into Hugo's office, and click anywhere to trigger a scene where the culprit shoots at you. Once that's done, take the book from the floor. Use your fork on the T-Rex's mouth to get a map fragment. Look at the left table and use your flask on the oil to collect it. Look at the right end table (by the sofa). Open up the shell, then take the coin and the pearl inside. Go forward to the hallway. The culprit has locked the door to the crime scene! Look at the box on the dresser here and take the egg. That's all you can do for now, so go backwards twice. Zoom in on the area above Hugo's office. Put the egg in the nest, and the pigeon goes inside it. This allows you to get a coin and a crown. Look at the fallen statue. Use the flask with oil on it to get the spearhead. Now look at the table and use the spearhead on the purse to get two coins. Go back into Hugh's office. In the hallway, put the crown on the painting to get a wing. Go back a screen and use the wing on the cabinet to the left to open it. This triggers a hidden objects scene, where you must find twelve cranes to get a crane. Go forward to the hallway. Use the crane on the left door to open it. Go inside, and click on the left part of the room to trigger a puzzle sequence. Take the belt from the right side of the desk, and the pencil from the case on the left. Zoom in on the left side of the table. Move the paper aside and take the oiler from the cage. Use the oiler on the foot of the suit of armor for a hamster. Go back to the cage. Put the belt and pencil in the sharpener, then put the hamster in the cage. The hamster sharpens the pencil. Use the pencil on the paper to see a shield pattern. Turn the shields, which are on the front of the desk. When they match the pattern, you get an embellishment and a stained glass piece. Look at the window and put the stained glass on it. Move the pieces around to match the colored design on the left to get another embellishment. Go back to the feet of the suit of armor. Put the embellishment in the holes here for a Cerberus. The puzzle in the room goes away for now. Move the hat in the lower/right for a map fragment. Examine the crack in the wall for a coin. Examine the area right of the dresser to find a hammer. Use the spearhead on the crossbow here to get a bowstring. At this point, you want to go all the way back to the shop to get a Hades figurine. Return to Hugo's office. Use the Cerberus and the Hades figurine on the box in the hallway for a map fragment and a chisel. Go into the open door. Put the chisel on the crack in the wall, and use the hammer on it. This opens the pathway to the next room, which is where the murder took place. When you go inside, the murderer attacks you. Look at the Buddha on the desk to the left. Put a pearl in its hand for a map fragment. Take the book from the ground and exit through the window. The culprit left through the gate here, and he locked it behind him. Take a book from the bench, and look at the gate. Take the coat flap and the final map fragment. Look at the map, which is right of the window. Put the map fragments on the board to start a jigsaw puzzle. Recreate the map to find three symbols. Put the three books onto the bookshelf to the left, and click the three books with symbols that match the map symbols. This gets you two coins, a crown, a note and a passport. Talk to Aidan about this new evidence. Go forward through the window and use the crown on the bench to get a gold coin and a beak. Go back twice and look at the hole in the wall. Use the beak on the bird here to get a glove. The puzzle in this room is open again. Zoom in on it. Take the jaw from the cage, then put it on the skull on the right side of the desk. Put a nut in the jaw to crack it, then give the nut to the hamster to get a jewel. Look at display case. Use the jewel here for a shield. Put the shield on the suit of armor to get a pyramid. The pyramid goes on the right side of the desk with the skull. It's part of a Tower of Hanoi puzzle, where you must move all the pieces to the right pole. A larger piece cannot go on top of a smaller piece. Solve the puzzle by putting the smallest piece to the third pole. Put the middle piece in the middle pole, then put the smallest piece on top of it. Put the largest piece on the rightmost pole, and put the smallest piece on the left. Put the middle piece on the right, then put the smallest piece on top of it. Solving this puzzle gets you a hook. Go back to the garden. Look at the roses behind the gate. Use the glove here for a saw. Use the saw on the roses left of the gate to get a metal rose. Look at the grate. Read the crumpled-up note here, to see that it casts suspicion on Esmerelda. Talk to Aidan, then go back to the grate. Use the hook and the bowstring here to get the key to Esmerelda's house. We're done with Hugo's office now. On the way out, solve a hidden objects challenge in the dresser to get a glass cutter. Once outside the building, use the metal rose on the statue base for a garden trowel. Go down. Solve the hidden objects challenge on the left for a thread. Then, use the key on Esmerelda's door to get inside her house. 003d. Esmerelda's House ----------------------------------------------------------- Look at the crocodile on the table to find a sucker dart. Look at the plant in the corner for a hammer and a mosaic piece. Leave through the exit on the left. Look at the tree and use the hammer (nail puller) on it to get a nail and a plank. Look at the scaffolding. Put the plank and the nail here, then use the hammer to get them in place. Take the bow, then use it on the fox. The fox goes aside. Use the garden trowel on the ground here, to find a buried box. Open it, then take the coin and the drumstick inside. Finally, look at Esmerelda's window. Use the glass cutter to open it, and use the coat flap here, so you can safely enter. The room is dark inside, so go back to the store. Use the sucker dart on the dart game, and make matches to get two coins. You can now buy a lantern. Return to Esmerelda's attic and use the lantern to see. Look inside the laundry basket on the right to get a coin, a planet and note. Look at the teddy bear and use the thread on its arm to repair it. Take the bear's pirate hat. Look at the planet display for a seahorse, then life the trapdoor and exit through it. You are in a hallway. Go forward to a bedroom. Look at the bed. Take the dancer and the note, and look at the pirate by the window. Put the pirate hat on the pirate to get a seahorse and a drumstick. Look at the dresser for a mosaic piece. Go down, back to the hallway. Look at the music box on the dresser and take the butterfly. Put the dancer on the music box for a mosaic piece and a planet. Go up to the attic. Use the drumsticks on the bear to drop a pair of jeans. Take the mermaid candelabrum and the mosaic piece from the jeans, then go down to the hallway. Place the candelabrum on the table. The note said "2 3 1", and the candelabrums resemble numbers. Pull them in the order 2, 3, 1 to reveal a safe. Open it to get a coin, a ring handle and a dolphin. Go forward to the bedroom. Use the dolphin on the dresser drawer to open it. Inside is a seahorse and a tentacle. Leave the room and look at the door to the left. Now that you have four mosaic tiles, you can solve the puzzle here. Put the tiles on the board, then rotate the pieces so the four darker tiles are in the four middle spots. Solving the puzzle opens the door. Go into the room. Look at the octopus on the desk and use the tentacle on it to get a horn and a leaf. Take the dart from the map, then use it to open the glass cabinet doors. Inside the cabinet is a seahorse and a note. Use the note to unlock the safe in this room. Inside are two coins and a note that indicates Hugo and Esmerelda met in the hotel. Talk to Aidan and look at the safe again. Take the number plate and the puzzle strip. You're almost done with Esmerelda's house! Go back to the first room of the house, with the crocodile on a table. Look at the candle sconce near the door and put a leaf on it for a butterfly. Look at the crocodile and put the two butterflies on it. This gives you a coin and a planet. Go back inside Esmerelda's house. In the bedroom, put the sea horses into their spots at the night table. This gives you a puzzle strip, and apple and a note. Use the puzzle strips on the picture above the bed. Recreate the picture by moving the strips up and down. When you finish the picture, you get a coin and a planet. Go to Esmerelda's attic and use the planets on the planet display. Arrange the planets in the proper order, which is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Solving the puzzle gets you a bull. 003e. The Hotel ----------------------------------------------------------- Go back to the town. The hotel is across the street from Hugo's business. Simply use the bull you found on the door, in order to get inside. Give the number plate to the man for a room key. Look at the statue and put the ring in place to get a sucker dart and an apple. Look at the bull design; put a horn on the bull to get a lens. Go forward to the hallway. Solve the hidden objects challenge to get a shutters handle. Use the key to open Room 11. Go inside and use the shutters handle on the shutters to light up the room. Look at the coat. Take the note and talk to Aidan, then take the star from the coat pocket. Take the apple from the table, then leave the room. Solve the hidden objects challenge to get a kitchen knife. Look at the end table and put the apples here. Move them around so each apple's color matches its holder. This gets you a coin and a glass frame. Go back into the room. Use the knife on the coat to get a number dial. Use it on the safe, which is on the bed. This is a puzzle, where you must figure out the number of circles, triangles and squares. The combination is 483. Solving the puzzle gets you an earring and a jeweled handle. Return to the shop. Use the sucker dart on the machine, and make matches again, for three coins. You can now purchase glue. Go back to Hotel Room 11. Look at the table. Put the glass frame, the jeweled handle and the lens on the table. Put the lens in the frame and the frame on the handle. Grab the magnifying glass, and use it to find the eight pieces of envelope in this room. The envelope is on the table, so put the envelope pieces on it. This is a simple jigsaw puzzle. Use the glue on the envelope to fix it, then take the envelope. It looks like the culprits are trying to escape by train! Talk to Aidan and leave the hotel. The fire is no longer there, so you can go forward. Look at the jar in the lower/right to get a gold coin and an oiler. Take the plank from the fence and use it on the broken curb to get a screwdriver. Look at the carriage on the road. Put the star in the slot, use the oiler on the bolts, and use the screwdriver to open the chest. This gets you a piece of chalk. Hugo shows up at this point. You and Aidan chase after him, but he traps you both inside a basement. Can you escape and get to the train station in time? 003f. The Basement ----------------------------------------------------------- Do the hidden objects challenge on the right side of the screen for some matches. Take the broom, and go left to the next area. Zoom in on the bottle, use the broom to clean the bottle, then pick up the bottle. Look at the barrels to get a solution and a sickle handle. Go right and look at the bats. Use the matches to scare the bats away, so you can get a bottle of water. Look at the burner on the right. Use the kerosene on the burner and light it with the matches. Put the bottle of water on it, to open the bottle. Go left and look at the back. Put the bottles down to start a puzzle. Your goal is to get four units in the blue bottle. After this, put the bottle on the scale. Solve the puzzle by filling blue and moving it to green. Drain green. Pour the blue water into green. Fill blue all the way and pour blue into green. Blue now has four, so put it on the scale. The hatch opens up. Take the bolt from the stone on the left, and use the chalk on the stone to see some symbols. Use the sickle handle on the sickle on the right to get it. Go back two screens and use the blunt sickle on the grindstone for a sharp sickle. Solve the hidden objects challenge to get a chain. Go back to the basement. Open the box on the right. Put the solution down, then put the chain down. This starts a puzzle. Click the five levers to move the chains around. You want the chains to look the same what they do in the solution. This opens an area in the back. Use the sickle to remove the vines, so you can go outside. Touch the skeleton, then go through the maze. You want to follow the symbols that were listed on the rock in the basement. This leads you to a camp. Talk to the gypsy and give him Esmerelda's earring. In exchange, he gives you a bolt. Talk to Aidan, then look at the wagon for a puzzle. Take the rag and the nippers. Open the window curtain and clean the window with the rag. Take the key, and use the key on the lock for a hook. Use the hook on the ceiling latch for a horse. Cut the wire with the nippers to get a second horse. Use the horses on the slots for a tarot card. Put the tarot card on the small table for a matching puzzle. Make all the matches that show up in the crystal ball, in order to get a wrench. Go down the road. Look at the tree to get a railroad switch. Look at the fuse box on the side of the shack. Use the wrench to open the fuse box. Take the railroad switch from inside. Enter the shack. Look at the cabinet in the upper/right for the final bolt. Look at the table in the lower/right for a fuse. Inside the book is a knife. Look at the box on the couch. Open the box with your knife to get a hand rake and a coin. Go back twice, and the puzzle at the wagon returns. Move the books aside and take the raven. Put the raven in the outline for a knife. Move the top of the dresser for a glass cutter. Use the glass cutter on the window for a sun. Put the sun in the outline for a puzzle part. Use the knife on the target for an axe. Take the picture off the wall to the left and use the axe to get rid of the boards. You can now see a picture puzzle. Put your puzzle part on it, then click on pieces to rotate them. You want to rotate the pieces to form a complete picture. Solve the puzzle gets you a nutcracker. Look at the hay bin. Use the rock on it three times to get a gear and another fuse. Go forward and into the shack. Look at the bowl on the chair. Use the nutcracker on the nut to get the edible part of a nut. Leave the shack and give the nut to the squirrel in the tree, in order to get an apple. Go back a screen and use the apple on the hay tray, to make the horse come close. You can get the lever and the railroad switch. Go forward and look at the fuse box. Put the fuses inside to activate a puzzle. Here, you need to press five switches to light up all the lights. Go into the shack and use the railroad switches on the model railroad for a puzzle. Click on the different tracks to switch them. You want to make a full set of tracks, so the train can reach the station. Leave the shack and zoom in on the handcar. This is a puzzle, where you must put everything into place to repair the handcar. Pick up the lever and the gear, then put them in place. Put the wheel on, and put the bolts on the wheel. Use the wrench to fasten the bolts. Put the valve and pipe in place, and use the pickaxe on the coals. Open the cover and put the coals inside. Pull the lever, then turn the valve. The handcar goes forward, opening the gate to the train station. 003g. The Train Station ----------------------------------------------------------- There is a mini-store on the side of the train station. Look at it and buy a crowbar. Go into the lobby area and look at the broken floor tile. Grab the coin and use the crowbar on the tile to get a key and a button. Open the dresser in the corner for a hidden objects challenge. You get a pin as a result. Go forward, and zoom in on the ticket taker's booth. Grab the coin that someone left behind. Go down twice. On the train tracks, you can use the pin to get a button. Buy some ink from the small store, then go forward to the lobby. Solve the hidden objects challenge again, to get a valve. Look at the dresser on the left. Use the key to unlock it, for a bucket and a horse. Use the horse on the luggage to open it. Inside is a button and half of a heart. Look at the fountain. Use the valve to turn it on, and use the empty bucket on the fountain to fill it up. Go down two screen. Use the bucket of water on the water barrel, on the left. Refill the bucket of water at the fountain, and put it into the barrel. You will fill up the barrel and get a button. Go forward to the lobby and look at the ticket window. Put down the buttons, ink and envelope to start a puzzle. Put the ticket on the top of the keyboard. Use the ink on the ribbon and put the two ribbon ends into place, on the sides of the typewriter. Make all the matches on the typewriter keys to solve the puzzle, but be warned: the keys move around! Solving the puzzle gets you a ticket. Go forward to the platform and use the ticket on the booth. Board the train and talk to Aidan. He suggests stopping the train to catch the culprits. Look at the lion design on the left for a heart half. Look in the open doorway, and put the heart pieces on the box to open it. This gives you a metal fragment. Look at the hammer on the far right and use the crowbar to pick it up. Look at the door to the train engine. Put the metal fragment here for a puzzle. The goal of this puzzle is to slide the pieces around, to move the coin. The coin needs to get on all four dots in this order: pink, purple, green and gold. Finish by sliding the coin into the gold spot. Go forward and look at the tool box. Use the hammer to open it up, so you can get the cutting piers inside. Look at the emergency brake on the right, and use the cutting pliers to open it.
