Overview "PANIC at Multiverse High!" is a parody visual novel/otome game in the vein of Hatoful Boyfriend, focusing on humor and character interactions. The goal of the game is to improve your stats and befriend other characters in order to ask one of them out to Prom, where you will face and defeat your rival, Chad. This guide will help you shape your play experience - but will stop immediately before Prom. From there on out you're on your own! ******************************************************************** B. BASICS B1. Stats There are three stats in the game - Nice, Cool, and Tough. You gain points in each of these stats in four ways: - Your responses on the first day of class (3) - Your answers in classes throughout the year (16) - Your responses to encounters with Chad (6) - Your choice of activity on the weekend (4 minimum, 10 maximum) = 29-35 TOTAL STAT POINTS You will periodically talk to the Collector, who can give you a rough idea of how your stats are developing. He won't tell you the points directly, but will give you a general hint. - "Slightly" = 3 or more - "Fairly" = 6 or more - "...wins you friends" = 9 or more - "scant person nicer/tougher/cooler" = 12 or more - (varies by stat) = 15 or more - "Epic level" = 20 or more There is minor reactivity in the ending depending not just on your highest stat, but how high that stat is. A stat is considered "maxed" if it's over 20 points - you'll need this to get the Achievement for each. B2. Friendship Points The second measurement of progress in the game are Friendship Points, which are gained in the following ways: - Selecting them/their answer in club (10) - Choosing them during an Event (2) - Inviting them to a Festival (4) = 16 TOTAL CHARACTER POINTS B3. Gaining Friends Each character in PANIC High has a favorite stat, and each club has a character that favors each stat. Once you've built up a character's Friendship Points AND their favored stat high enough, they will send you a message on the weekend, and be available to call and hang out with. Once you select an option to hang out with them, they'll come over and have a scene with you, and you'll have a chance to answer a question/interact with them. * Be cautious: some of the more "high-strung" characters may not react well to an incorrect response and become offended, which will close them out as a possible friend - they will not be available to take to Prom, Festivals, select for Events, or even choose as an option in their club. (Answers will be listed in the Characters section) * Once a friend has been made, they will (eventually) be available to ask to Prom, and their name will continue to show up to make plans with them on the weekend. The player will have a phone conversation with them, and gain a point in that character's favored stat. B4. Friend Encounters Occasionally, at school and home, the player will run into or receive messages from other characters. The character that you encounter/get a message from is the one with whom you currently have the highest friendship points. This is not only a similar way of tracking Frienship points as the Collector does with stats, but also an additional bit of story interaction with your favored character. B5. Prom Date Asking a friend to Prom is easy: when the time comes to ask a character the week before (May 7), a list of possible friends to ask will appear and allow you to select one. Note that that you HAVE to have asked someone over to hang out and successfully become friends (i.e. not made them angry). Otherwise, you'll be stuck going solo, and there's no telling what could happen...! B6. Address Book Your best resource for finding out the details of characters and your relationship with them is your Address Book, which you can check every weekend before you make plans. If there's a character that you like, check your Address Book - that will not only list the sort of personality they prefer, but also give you a sense of how far along you are to becoming friends with them - if you need to raise your Friendship Points with them, raise their preferred stat, or if they're ready to contact. It will also list if you've already become good friends with that character, or if you screwed up (oops) and you can't pursue a friendship with them any more. The Address Book will also list details of other characters that you know from school - Chad, the Fey, the Collector, General, Scientist, Gadgeteer, and the Kevins - but their entries remain statice throughout the course of the game. B7. GPA Your GPA is handled through a series of four quizzes taken throughout the year. The questions are randomized, but within a small margin. Three questions are about the world of the game, while one is trivia-based. The GPA has no bearing on the actual events in the game, but is calculated after the game is completed, and turned into points which unlock art in the Gallery. If you get every single one of the 16 questions right over the course of the year, you'll gain an Achievement for it. ******************************************************************** A. CHARACTERS This section covers all of the characters that you can befriend. Others, such as Chad and other people at school, can be found in the Address Book but not befriended. C1. Amunet-Ana Description: "Guardian of her people, wielding the power of the Hidden Sun, Amunet-Ana is neither truly robot nor golem, a being of magic and technology both." RenPy - it's a free program distributed by LemmaSoft. You can download it on their site and there are plenty of tutorials to be found to do just about anything either there or linked from their forums. "Will there be a follow-up to PANIC at Multiverse High, like PANIC in the Multiverse?" Not sure, you'd have to ask DoubleBear. "How do I get the W.onderful T.entacle F.ace achievement?" Just never ask anyone over to your house to hang out. If you don't do that, you don't form a friendship, meaning you have to go solo to Prom. The achievement will happen from that! "What rating would you give this game?" Technically though it mentions beer ONCE (although in a negative light) and some off-screen violence it's rated Teen, but I'd say it's probably more like E-10 at most (US) or PEGI 12. "I have questions about X thing!" Ask the developers! "Why isn't this on X platform?" ASK DEVELOPERS. I AM JUST A SIMPLE FAQ "Are there any other games like this?" Tons of them although I can't speak to their quality or favored audience. LemmaSoft has a massive amount of them listed on their site, and although it's not for as wide an age range as this game, the game that inspired it, Hatoful Boyfriend, is excellent.
