It is intended to be fairly modular, in that you should be able to select any topic that interests you and navigate to that section without viewing any other portions of the guide. The bulk of this guide is the "Mission Walkthrough", which provides a fairly linear mission by mission progression of the game. If you are looking to avoid spoilers, or want to progress through the game at your own pace, you most definitely want to avoid this portion. Due to the nature of the game only offering (at least in my experience) a few quests to concurrently be on at once, rather than a host of 10-20 different missions, this guide follows a very static "Go here, then here, then do this" approach rather than "vist this zone, do these 10 quests in any order then come back". There are definitely multiple paths through the game, this simply follows the path *I* took. It worked fairly well for me, and it should for you too. That being said, the mission explanations are modular enough in that you should be able to locate the particular mission(s) you need help on, find that particular topic, and be done with it. In terms of use, this guide follows the fairly standard convention of providing "Quick Find" links that can be used by hitting your "Ctrl" and "F" keys at the same time to open up the Find dialogue in your browser. For example, you would find this section by entering in "Qf-HWTO" into your find dialogue and hitting find next. By typing in the quick find code, with or without the brackets, and hitting "Find Next" you should be directed to the appropriate section after two iterations. Depending on where you start your search, you should be placed in the table of contents with the first search, and the appropriate section heading with the second. If you find that any of the quick find features are not working for you, or if you feel that any portion(s) of this guide are particularly difficult to navigate, please let me know. Contact info can be found at the top of this document, as well as the Contact Information section at the bottom. 2] Version History [QF-VERH] ############################################################################## 0.1 [08/10/2010] - Initial document version. - Game basics section started but is incomplete. - Mission guide is complete through the first third to half of the game. - Monster list has been started but is incomplete. - Abilities list not yet started. 0.25 [08/12/2010] - 10 or so more missions added to the mission guide - Fairly large update to the Monster list - Updates to FAQ - Formatting Corrections - First "public" release of this guide 0.5 [08/16/2010] - Addition of XNA section - Game basics section complete - Updates to monster list, slowly beginning to add XNA genome drops - Many corrections to walkthrough section - no new missions yet though - Abilities section started - Updated FAQ 3] Game Basics [QF-GBAS] ############################################################################## General gameplay basics: how to navigate around the game, what the basic statisical mechanics are, and a comprehensive overview of the game's resident customization mechanic: XNA. ################################# User Interface/Controls [QF-UINT] ################################# The in game help section from the launch screen does a very excellent job of providing most of this info to you. Nonetheless, here is a quick reference to both the user interface and general controls/navigation. --------------------------------------------------------------- Options Character Quests Inventory ^ Compass Enemy Health/Energy Abil1 Lvl Health Energy Abil2 Abil3 Abil4 Auto Left Right Joystick Jump Joystick =============================Exp Bar===================== --------------------------------------------------------------- Most of these are fairly obvious. From top left and going clockwise: Options: Options menu. Set options like sound fx and graphic settings. Character: Character screen. From here you can access your stats, equipped gear, abilities, and XNA setup. Quests: Your quest log. Will show details for only your active quests that have yet to be turned in. Inventory: Inventory management. Destroy or equip items from this interface easily. Compass: Basic 8-directional navigation. Tapping on this will also bring up the in game map, which is very, very useful. Health/Energy: Around the compass. Red is your current health. Green is your current energy. Abil 1/2/3/4: Your current active abilities. Tap on these to perform special attacks. Passive abilities do not show here. Auto: Turns on auto attack. This will also be set for you automatically whenever you use an ability. Jump: Makes your character jump. Exp Bar: Your current experience towards the next level. Left Joystick: Moves your character. Forward and backward do as you would expect. Left and right strafe / sidestep without moving your camera angle or physically turning you. Right Joystick: Moves the camera angle with respect to your character's view. Left and right turn your view left and right. Up and down pitches your angle either up or down. If you're like me you can invert this from the options menu. When used in conjunction with the left joystick you can turn and move easily (IE: Hold down forward on the left and left on the right joysticks to run forward and turn left) Equipping Items: To equip a new item, go to your character interface then tap on the equipment tab. Select an equipment slot and then tap and drag the equipment from the right side of the interface to the equipment slot. You can also cross-compare item stats this way by selecting the item from the equipment slot and then also selecting an item from the right side. Talking to people: To start or turn in a quest, sell items to a vendor, or generally interact with any npc simply tap on them once. Looting items: Tap on any item to place it into inventory. This works with both quest items and items that drop from monsters. ############### Stats [QF-STAT] ############### There are 6 primary statistics in the game. Each primary statistic directly affects a host of other secondary statistics. Each piece of gear you find will have, in addition to armor, one or more of these six primary statistics. The following estimations were made at level 17. It's not yet known if some or all of these stats scale or curve with level, so keep this in mind... Constitution [CON] - Raises Health by 20 points Focus (FOC) - Increases regen by 0.25% - Increases power by 2.5 points Balance (BAL) - Increases dodge by 1.33% - Increases accuracy by 0.45% Dexterity (DEX) - Increases dodge by 0.5% - Increases power by 1 point Strength (STR) - Increases power by 0.5 points - Increases armor by 7.5 points Intelligence (INT) - Raises accuracy by 0.1% - Raises energy by 22 There are 7 derived, or secondary statistics in the game. While these aren't found (except armor) on gear, they serve as the basis for how strong or weak your character is. Health: Fairly obvious. The amount of hit points your character has. Energy: This is the Mana/Energy/limited resource equivilant of this game. All special abilities consume a fixed amount of energy. Power: Your character's raw power. It directly impacts some of your abilities (IE: Some abilities will do damage multiplied by your power stat). Unknown how but presumed at this time that power also factors into your base melee and ranged auto attack damage. Accuracy: Your chance to get a critical hit with an attack. Dodge: Your change to avoid incoming enemy damage. I've yet to determine if this works in melee range or from afar or both, honestly. Regen: Affects the rate at which you regenerate both health and energy. This can be extremely useful as it double dips into these stats and both work in combat. A high regen plus a high health pool can essentially turn you into a "tank". You might kill things slowly, but good luck being killed! Armor: Standard armor class. Reduces incoming damage on all enemy attacks. No idea yet on an armor to damage reduction conversion. In general, if you're looking to enhance your survivability, you should probably look into boosting these stats primarily: CON, FOC, BAL If you're looking to become a killing machine, you should be boosting these stats: FOC, BAL, DEX Since the limiting factor in your damage output is usually the cooldown on your abilities, focus comes out on top of intelligence by a mile. You don't need a huge energy pool as long as you have decent regen and good power behind your attacks. Intelligence and strength have some usefulness in a "tank" setup, as they allow you to last longer and spam your healing abilities on cooldown for slightly longer. ############ XNA [QF-XNA] ############ XNA is Xenome's twist on character customization. Xenonucleic Acid serves to allow you to tweak your character's abilities (and stats, to an extent) on top of the standard feature set that everyone has access to. There are three key in game features that you will need to become familiar with before you can reap the full benefits of XNA customization: XNA Genomes, Keystones, and Chemists. ########### XNA Genomes ########### XNA Genomes are automatically looted off of almost every enemy you defeat in the game. When you kill an enemy, you will see the amount you collect scroll by on the right side of your screen. These genomes are part of the currency you need to buy new XNA-based abilities. There are six colours/types of genomes, each corresponding to one of the primary in game stats: Focus - Blue Dexterity - Orange Intelligence - Purple Constitution - Green Strength - Red Balance - Grey The amount of each type of genome you will need will vary for each ability, but in general these won't be the limiting factor for you. As long as you are killing enemies as you progress through the game (and it's very hard to do so otherwise), you should be fine. ######### Keystones ######### Keystones are the "rare" drop that you'll need to complete the other half of the XNA ability equation. For each skill that you wish to acquire, there is a keystone to accompany it. Want the XNA ability Chloroblast? Then, in addition to the XNA genomes and tanners it requires, you will need to find the "Keystone - Chloroblast" item. Check the Monster List section to find out which enemies drop which Keystones. ######## Chemists ######## Chemists are the in game NPC in which you will trade your Keystone, XNA genomes, and a fixed amount of Tanners to in order to receive your XNA ability. While there is no explicit indicator for Chemists on the map, they can almost always be found next to a kiosk, which is indicated on the map by a purple headphones-looking icon. Once you have obtained an XNA ability, you can activate it by going to your character screen and selecting the XNA tab. You can have a maximum of two passive XNA abilities active at once, and there is no reason to never have less than two activated once you have aquired them. For the active XNA abilities, you are not limited directly in how many you can have at once. These can be interchanged with your normal abilities that you acquire through levelling up in game any way you like. Like any other abilities however, you can only have a maximum of four active at once. This means you can have 2 passive and 4 active XNA abilities, 2 passive, 1 active, and 3 "regular" abilities, or any other combination. 4] Mission Walkthrough [QF-WALK] ############################################################################## Mission walkthrough, covers an entire game playthrough end in end, following a particular mission path. There are certainly alternative paths, but this will get you through the entire game, start to finish. You can also reference individual missions within the guide if you only need help in a few areas here or there. Along the way I'll provide other small additional non-mission hints such as "go buy this ability at this vendor", and "now would be a good time to level up to level X on these enemies". Missions are listed sequentially. It is inferred that you will be able to progress from one mission to the next by collecting the next mission in line from a nearby quest giver, unless otherwise explicitly listed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Good News, You're Not Dead [QF-GYND] Rewards: 20 tanners, 95 XP, Union Facesmasher, Whistling Peacekeeper Turn left and walk forward a few paces. Retrieve the goods as indicated by the icon and return to Watcher Zissou. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You're Being Activated [QF-YBAC] Rewards: 4 tanners, 19 XP Run due north a good ways (30 seconds). When you can see two water towers in the distance you know you are close. William Tavner is next to Sly Bob, another NPC. Talk to William to complete the quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The World Looks Different, No? [QF-WLDN] Rewards: 40 tanners, 190 XP Head south of the quest giver back towards where you came from and you will find a scattered collection of Scorpions and Loungers. If you go too far south you will reach a small oasis with union workers and will need to loop back north. Make sure you're equipping any loot that drops off of these enemies, as you will currently be almost entirely unequipped and extremely fragile. The Scorps drop the Keystone for Stinger Punch 1, which is going to be the first XNA ability you'll have a chance to get your hands on. Having a full complement of these early on will greatly improve your chances - so make sure you get your hands on this if you can. It drops fairly reliably. Return back to the quest giver after killing at least 6 of each enemy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ They Need a Body [QF-TNAB] Rewards: 40 tanners, 190 XP Head southeast toward some palm trees to find your first Pinger (Pinger #3). Around this area in roughly a 360 degree arc you will find union workers (near the treelines I found, mostly). Find and kill five of them then return northwest and talk to William Tavner. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Solomin Chronis? [QF-SOLC] Rewards: 60 tanners, 285 XP, Pleather Vest About 20 paces north of you next to a small rock you will find a box. Collect this then return south to William. Make sure to equip the chest piece as it is most likely the best item you have for that slot right now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mutually Beneficial [QF-MUTB] Rewards: 80 tanners, 380 XP Using the map for reference if you'd like, head southwest towards Philmore. Once you see the philmore warriors you're heading in the right direction. Continue towards the large white buildings in the distance. Within the city itself you will find the Philmore Nobles. You will need to kill 3 of these for this quest. On the northeast side of the city you will find Slevin Kadence himself. ###################################################### Slevin Kadence Level: 5 (Recommended Level: 5+) At level 7 he was moderately challenging, in that I had to heal myself 2-3 times before he went down. Make sure you're at least at his level of 5 before engaging him. As long as you're within this range, you should have little problems. Open the fight with Snare Shot, as Slevin is a melee only mob, you can drop off a fair amount of his health before he even makes it towards you. Slevin himself has a fairly nice melee weapon that he drops. This was a pretty nice upgrade over my union facesmasher at the time. Loot: Slevin's Arm Hacker (M-WEP: 16.8 DPS, +5 STR) ###################################################### The fragment itself is also in the northeast section of the city right next to Slevin. It is a small blue rubix cube type of item, and has the familiar icon indicating it can be looted. Once you have retrieved the item, slain 3 nobles and Slevin, head back east and slightly north to William Tavner. Optionally, if you are finding yourself relatively low in levels or gear - I found that this was a good place to collect both experience and fairly good drops off the Philmore mobs. Make sure you're at least level 6 or so before leaving this area, if you can manage it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fragments of the Past [QF-FOTP] Rewards: 16 tanners, 76 XP Talk to Bloodletter Chase directly on the other side of the water tower to complete this one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eagles Are Gone And No More Caribou [QF-EAGL] Rewards: 16 tanners, 76 exp. Some more interesting quest flavour text, but no real content. Return back to Tavner on the other side of the water tower to complete this one. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ XNA [QF-XWLK] Rewards: 20 tanners, 95 XP, Keystone - Stinger Punch 1 Talk to Tavner to get the lowdown on "XNA", the game's resident customization technique. See the XNA section within game basics for more on this concept. Your destination for this quest is the S-mart to the southwest, near the last major quest site of Philmore. Feel free to beat up on some of the locals on the way, since you should be much stronger than your previous encounters with them. Your objective is on the south side of the city, and resembles an abandoned gas station. You can easily find it on the map by looking for the purple icon that looks like a pair of headphones. Make sure you activate Pinger #1 by running up to it, then talk to Chemist Venkman (Who ya gonna call?) to complete the quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Venkman [QF-VENK] Rewards: 20 tanners, 95 XP 10 paces northeast of Venkman, next to the Pinger, you can find Jane Hawthorne Talk to her to complete this quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If You Have The Time [QF-IYHT] Rewards: 120 tanners, 570 XP Due east of Jane about 40 paces you will find a rather extensive supply of Evolved Catci for you to slay. These go down easy, but they do attack from range so keep an eye on your health if you're just lazilly sniping away. Make sure you kill at least seven of these. You can get the Keystone - Chlorablast, and Keystone - Photosynthesis 1 off of them, so farming them doesn't hurt one bit either. ###################################################### Giant Evolved Cactus Level: 6 (Recommended Level: 7+) The real culprit of this mission is the Giant Evolved Cactus, which is about 125 paces (about 25-30 seconds) due east of Jane, at the top of a rather substantial hill. The Giant Evolved Cactus packs a fairly mean punch, or at least he did when I was facing him at level 8. Any lower and you should be prepared to heal very often. I found that he seemed to do more damage to me in melee range, and did less so when I backed up. The damage is very survivable though as long as you heal liberally and are an appropriate level, so choose whichever mode of combat you do the most damage in. Loot: None ###################################################### Head back west towards Jane to complete this quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Before you head off on the next quest, now would be a good time to invest in some XNA abilities at the chemist. Head 10 or so paces west and talk to the chemist. Here you can turn in any of the kestones you acquired plus a few tanners for some new or enhanced abilities. For example: Photosynthesis 1: Increases energy by 10% (Passive) Cost: Keystone - Photosynthesis 1 1 focus XNA, 1 constitution xna 1 strength xna 39 tanners Chloroblast: Deals poison damage to target (Active) Cost: Keystone - Chloroblast 196 tanners 2 focus XNA 2 dex XNA 5 cons XNA For a full description of these abilities and their costs, see the XNA section. For now, purchase what you can (The above two come in fairly handy and you should be quite capable of purchasing them now). Don't forget to enable them by going to the XNA section of your character screen. For what it's worth, my character at this time looked like this: Level: 8 Active: Chemical Burn 1, Med Kit 1, Stinger Punch 1, Chloroblast Passive: Photosynthesis 1 If you aren't interested in XNA right now, or you're finished, get moving on to the next quest, Debt Collection. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Debt Collection [QF-DCOL] Rewards: 120 tanners, 570 XP Head up north and around the east side of Philmore. Once you pass Philmore continue northbound, following along the westernly coastline. You should pass through a wealth of Philmore Nobles. Eventually in the distance you will come to yet another Pinger. From here head almost due east, until you come to a large opening in the concrete wall you've been running alongside. You will find Hutch, who will give you the "Political Refugees" quest. Pick this up, being mindful of the wealth of Union Soldiers and Union Trainees within the area. Head into the compound. Note that this is by far going to be the most densely packed area of enemies you've encountered so far. Continue into the compound in a northwestern direction, killing Union Soldiers as you go. You only need 3 for this quest, but their drops are good, and you won't want to try to sneak past too many of them anyway. Once you reach the wall at the end, head around the back to the left or right. Watch out for the dense packs of guards here. Once you dispatch of these, continue around the back towards the wind farm / windmill looking area. ###################################################### Archaeologist Doan Level: 10 (Recommended Level: 9+) Near a stack of crates you will find Archaeologist Doan. Collect the latest fragment off of those, and then proceed to Doan. At level 10, he didn't present much of a fight my first play through. Just make sure to keep your health up and wear him down with your damage over time abilities. He will drop High Noon, a very nice ranged weapon. Make sure to equip this, as it is assuredly your best in slot so far. Loot: High Noon (R-WEP: 21 DPS, 2 CON, 5 FOC) ###################################################### Head back out through the main gate of the training facility. Before you leave, I highly advise grinding to at least level 10 if you aren't so already. This area had some very nice upgrades for me in most slots, and if you haven't been keeping up with the curve you might have noticed this as being the first semi challenging part of the game. Take the pinger outside back to Philmore / S - Mart, and talk to Jane to complete the quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pingers and You [QF-PNGA] Reward: 42 tanners, 200 XP Interestingly enough, now we get a quest involving using pingers. We appear to be one step ahead of the game. Take the pinger back to your previous location. Head east about 10 paces. Next to a tree hiding behind a small rock is the ever stealthy Shatter-Spy Tragon. Speak with him to complete the quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pinging [QF-PING] Reward: 42 tanners, 200 XP Nothing to see here. Hop back in the pinger to your west and talk to Jane Hawthorne back on the other side at S-Mart. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Helping Tragon [QF-HTRG] Rewards: 42 tanners, 250 XP. Hop back in the pinger, ping back to Shatter-Spy Tragon's location and speak with him to complete this rather familiar feeling quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Means To An End [QF-MTAE] Rewards: 140 tanners, 665 XP Head east of the pinger and southwest of the training facility until you come into contact with the poison-tail variety of scorps. Make sure you kill at least twelve of these to complete the quest requirements. If you're following this guide, before returning back to Shatter-Spy Tragon head a bit further north and take care of the Political Refugees quest as indicated below. Otherwise, just head back directly west towards the pinger to the west and talk to Tragon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Political Refugees [QF-POLR] Rewards: 140 tanners, 665 XP Just slightly north of where the bulk of scorps can be found for the Means To An End quest, you can find a large contingent of Nuker Vagabonds. They reside almost at the foot of the northern mountains. Dispatch 10 (or more) of these, and then return west towards the entrance of the training facility to turn this quest in. Stick around a while if you want the Precision Strike Keystone, as they drop it fairly regularly. Once you reach the training facility entrance, speak with Hutch to complete this quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ To The Hideout [QF-TOTH] Rewards: 32 tanners, 152 XP Head due east of your current location until you see a big blue train in the distance. You'll need to make your way through quite a few poison-tail scorps in doing so. As you get closer you will see Titus Magnus standing next to one of the blue trains. Speak with him to complete this quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Do You Know Who I Am? [QF-DYKW] Rewards: 160 tanners, 760 XP, Freakishly Strong Grips We certainly know who he is now, and he certainly seems friendly. Open the box right next to Titus then speak with him to receive a fairly substantial amount of XP and a pretty decent pair of gloves. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Although your quest line has seemingly ended at this point, all you need to do to continue the primary storyline is head back west to the pinger and speak with Shatter-Spy Tragon. He will hand you the next quest in the chain, Keeping Up Appearances. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Keeping Up Appearances [QF-KUAP] Rewards: 28 tanners, 133 XP Take the pinger directly west of Tragon and use it to ping south of the Recon Camp, which is southeast of your present location. Once you arrive there, run north and slightly east for about 20-25 seconds. Near some trees on the south edge of the recon camp, you will find Scout Kehren. Speak with him to complete this quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I Hope You Came To Bring The Pain [QF-IBTP] The soliders and scouts here are decent to farm for some quick XP and potential loot upgrades. Make sure you kill at least 4 of the soldiers for the quest criteria, and a few more if you feel like it. ###################################################### Recon Commander Vendetti Level: 10 (Recommended Level: 9+) Due north only a few paces, in the center of the town near some windmills you will find your primary target, Recon Commander Vendetti. He's level 10 and is only a minor threat towards you. I dispatched easily of him at level 12 with Precision Strike 1 and Chloroblast in additon to the two starting abilities. Loot: None ###################################################### Once you're done here, head south back to the pinger. Ping back to the training facility and talk to Shatter-Spy Tragon to complete the quest. Rewards: 160 tanners, 760 XP, Stretchpads of Overexposure ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Recon Invasion [QF-RINV] Rewards: 180 tanners, 855 XP It's back to the Recon Camp for this quest. You know what this means - head back west to the pinger and ping to the southeast. Run due north into the camp. On the outskirts of the camp itself you should find the bulk of the scouts you need for this quest. Kill at least three of them. Again, in the central section of the camp you can find the next fragment. The familiar blue cube can be found near a small cluster of trees almost directly in the center of the camp. From here, head directly west back towards the water towers and talk to William Tavner to complete this quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Visit Yates [QF-VYAT] Rewards: 40 tanners, 190 XP You'll need to head east and just slightly north quite a ways to complete this one. Far past the first large mountain you see, continue eastward. You'll likely pass through some enemies on your way, but nothing you can't handle, so long as you've been keeping up in your levels. Once you finally get near the town of Wagstaff, you can find Scout Yates just to the south. He's stationed along the road next to a grouping of rocks. If you've hit the large overhead highway sign - you've gone too far east, turn around! Speak with Scout Yates to complete this quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In And Out Of Wagstaff [QF-IAOO] Rewards: 200 tanners, 950 XP To complete this mission the first thing you'll need to do is kill off some of the Wagstaff locals. This is a pretty trivial task - you can find a plethora of peacekeepers within the city limits to the north. The tricky part of this quest which seems to give at least a few players some cause for concern is finding the next fragment within the city limits. The easiest way I can describe to get to this is first to go to the north end past the city. You will come to the base of a mountain. Using the trees as a reference point (there are two in particular that are about 10 yards apart), if you head due south back into town from that location, you will find the fragment. Note that there is a building in your way directly south of here, so you'll want to go around it to the west or east side and then move back towards a purely south direction. The fragment itself is inside a walled portion of the city. The easiest way to spot it is to look for the familiar arrow indicator. You can just make out the top portion of it over the wall. If you're looking for the cube, you'll never find it. Once you've found the fragment and dispatched with the requisite number of enemies, head back south of Wagstaff and a little east towards the trees and talk to Scout Yates. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Update For Tavner [QF-UFTA] Rewards: 44 tanners, 209 XP, Mask Of Sanity By this point in the game this should be nothing more than an administrative task. Simply return to Tavner to collect your small amount of XP and a fairly decent helmet. You can't ping back there quickly right now, so just make the long trek back to the west towards the water towers by foot. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Solomon's Soon To Be Failing Health [QF-SSTB] Rewards: 220 tanners, 1045 XP Head due east of here, passing along the south side of Recon Camp 1. As you progress towards some trees, you'll see Scout Kehren. Talk to him to collect the quest "Merciless Fun", which we will deal with later. For now, progress due east of here. Eventually you should come to a host of trees, and an oasis on your left. Continue east through the trees. Once you reach the end of the treelines, change your bearing to a north-easternly direction. After a fairly long trek, you should ultimately find yourself at Commander Donaldson. For reference, if you look at the map on your compass his location is west and ever so slightly south of the Storage Facility icon on the map, right near the cliff edges. Remember his location for reference, then proceed north-easternly towards the actual facility. Fairly shortly you should run into an abundance of Sentry Drones. These seem to take a while to kill, or did so for me at least at level 15, but they aren't very threatening. Take out at least five of them - although if you want the Jacob's Ladder or the Static Charge 1 keystones, you should kill as many as it takes, as they drop them. To find the skin suit itself, you need to make your way to the very northeast section of the facility. The easiest way to indicate this will be the very large white stone structure on your right if you are approaching from the south, or on your left if you are approaching from the north. Either way, on the opposite side there will be some buildings with green roofs. Between the two, at the north end on a pile of boxes is the skin suit waiting to be picked up. Once you have it, head south out of the facility and then back west to Commander Donaldson. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Skin Suit...What? [QF-SSWH] Rewards: 240 tanners, 1140 XP Head back east into the compound. Directly to the east inside of the compound, just south really of your last quest objective there should be a nice, easily visible yellow dump truck. Just to the north of this is the fragment you desire. The five laborers you also need to kill for this quest can be found just about anywhere you look inside the compound, intermixed with a few Sentry Drones here and there. Once you've completed the requisite objectives, head back west towards the large boulder and Commander Donaldson. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Huhsis [QF-HUHS] Rewards: 240 tanners, 1140 XP Head southwest of here towards Neule's Oasis. Here you can find the Oasis Cacti and Oasis Loungers you need to dispatch of to complete this quest's requirements. Kill at least 5 of each. If you're looking for Keystones, this is another good place to set camp for a while. Each of the enemies here drop a keystone, respectively. Oasis Scorp: Keystone - Stinger Punch 2 Oasis Cactus: Keystone - Photosynthesis 2 Oasis Lounger: Keystone - Bask If you've been following this guide, then you still have the Merciless Fun quest hanging around in your log. Bounce down to the next section to complete that quest then continue west back to the water towers. If you're not on that quest or not interested, then just continue west and speak with Sly Bob once you arrive. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Merciless Fun [QF-MFUN] Rewards: 180 tanners, 855 XP If you're following this guide, then head north from Noule's Oasis towards Wagstaff. If you aren't, then your ultimate destination is going to be Wagstaff anyway, which is in the very far north central portion of Silica Flats. However you make your way there, once you arrive, make your way to the eastern side of the town. On the side of one of the buildings, you should see a fairly easily spotted arrow. On the building next to it is a switch. Tap this to active it and complete your objective. Exit Wagstaff to the south and then head southwest a good ways. Near Recon Camp 1 you will find Scout Kehren sitting amongst the trees. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jane Would Know [QF-JKNO] Rewards: 52 tanners, 247 XP Head southwest back to the S-Mart which is just to the south of Philmore and talk to Jane next to the pinger to complete this quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Peaktown [QF-PEAK] Rewards: 280 tanners, 1330 XP Pretty simple quest this go around. Take the pinger right next to Jane to the location below Recon Camp 1. From here, head north east towards Neule's Oasis. Once here, slaughter 8 Oasis Scorps. If you've been following this guide, skip down a section and complete the 'Union War Camp' quest, a "sidequest" that will start off a rather lengthy quest chain. Otherwise, head back southwest to the pinger, ping back to Jane, and you're all set with this one. To progress next in line from here if you aren't following the guide, you will want to quickfind to the "Legitimizing My Trade" quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Union War Camp [QF-UNWC] Rewards: 52 tanners, 547 XP If you're following this guide, you only need to make a short walk northeast from Neule's Oasis. Otherwise - Your ultimate destination is situated roughly between Wagstaff and Neule's Oasis in terms of north-south, and is just about 100 paces east of this direction. Your visual cue is a large vertical rock. Next to it waiting for you is Watcher Foldes. Talk with him to complete this quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Destruction Is My Middle Name [QF-DIMN] Rewards: 280 tanners, 1830 XP Head to the southeast and you will eventually come upon a fairly large complex surrounded by chain fence. Within the perimeter and interior of this area, you will find War Camp Defenders and War Camp Strikers. The easiest way to make it inside is in the south and north sides of the compound, which will let you progress into the meat of the area. Get yourself accustomed to the layout, kill 4 of each war camp enemy and then return to Watcher Foldes to the northwest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And My First Name Is Chaos [QF-FNIC] Rewards: 300 tanners, 1925 XP, Grossly Oversized Shoulderpads Head back to the war camp, making your entrance from the southern end of the facility. As you enter a tall, green triangular building will be in front of you. Just past this building will be, yet another tall, green triangular building. Once you're done marvelling at their creativity, turn and you will notice a small gap between the buildings. A fragment should immediately catch your eye. Also roaming back and forth amongst this gap, is the main target of this mission: War Camp Commander Johnson. ###################################################### War Camp Commander Johnson Level: 15 (Recommended Level: 17+) This one was a little tricky for me to judge. When I faced Johnson, I was already level 20 and had a fairly nice range of abilities from Keystone farming. What I can tell you is this - Due to my level and the fact that I had a very high FOC build he dropped very quickly. Shockwave, Chemical Burn 2, and 2 hits of Stinger Punch 1 was about all it took to down him. If you're lower levelled, this probably means you'll just need to heal once or twice and you'll be just fine. I'd recommend being at least level 17, not because of Johnson necessarily, but because it will make the rest of the game much easier to progress through at this point in time. Loot: None ###################################################### Dispatch of Johnson, collect the nearby fragment, and then return to the northwest and speak with Foldes to complete the quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Shop S-Mart [QF-SMRT] Rewards: 340 tanners, 2115 XP Take a look at the map via the compass. If you look south you will notice a purple icon indicating a kiosk. Head towards that icon, taking a moment to unload any extra items and buy your latest ranks of abilities via your keystone turnins. From here, head south and you will find Pinger #7. Around here to the south, you will find the requisite Prime Evader that you need to kill for this quest. Kill eight of them, and then hop into the pinger and ping over to the one nearest the water towers. Head northwest to the water towers and speak to Tavner to complete this quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You May Be Interested To Know [QF-YMBI] Rewards: 72 tanners, 342 XP Head back southeast to the pinger nearest you and ping back to the pinger next to Solomon's Oasis. From here, head east and a little south, along the edge of the oasis. You will come into contact with quite a few level 19-20 enemies, so make sure you're an appropriate level, or tread very carefully. Eventually you will come upon a fallen road sign. Next to a nearby rock is Brassman Hope. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ New Directives [QF-NDIR] Rewards: 400 tanners, 1900 XP Head southeast toward's Vagrant's Fork and continue past it in the same direction and you will end up at Recon Camp 2. The tallest structure in the middle of the camp has the fragment you need beside it. East of here about 20 paces there is a tall, thin blue umbrella looking satelitte dish. Back around the side of it is the beacon that you need to deactivate. Make the run back northwest and talk to Brassman Hope to complete the quest. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ They're Going To Need A Bigger Boat [QF-JAWS] Rewards: 400 tanners, 1900 Head south towards the tanker site on your map. You can actually run on top of the boat that ran ashore. Run down the boat about
halfway (if you use the compass based map you want to stop right
on the yellow dot), and then jump down to the left/east side
of the boat.
Since you take no fall damage in this game, you will land safely
right next to the fragment, which you can pick up. Nearby in a wandering
pattern is the Union Archaeologist.
######################################################
Union Archaeologist Level: 22
(Recommended Level: 20+)
This was actually a fairly challenging fight for my
damage oriented build. The archaeologist is capable
of putting out some serious damage, so you'll want to
be prepared to heal on cooldown for this fight.
Fortunately for you, you can mitigate a lot of the
danger of this by being above level 20 and using your
stronger abilities for this battle. Sattelite Strike,
which is available at level 20, paired with Shockwave
and another damaging ability, such as Jacob's Ladder,
or even Chemical Burn 2/3, will take out about half of
his HP if you open up the fight with it.
From there on out, just heal on cooldown, and honestly
your auto attacks alone will be enough to outlast him.
If you choose to take him on before level 20, without
satellite strike I would expect this to be a trifle
more challenging, and would suggest trying a two heal
setup where you can outlast him, or a stunlock build
with shockwave/Tranquilize/Snare Shot.
Loot: None
######################################################
Once you've dispatched of the archaeologist, run up northeast around the
tanker, and then head straight north past Vagrant's Fork to complete the
quest at our friend Brassman.
Upon completing this quest you will effectively end this part of the chain.
If you're following this guide, the next remaining quest should be
"Legitimizing My Trade". Otherwise please use quickfind to find the next
quest that you're on.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Legitimizing My Trade [QF-LMTR]
Rewards: 300 tanners, 1425 XP
If you're following this guide, you'll want to head north along the eastern
edge of Solomon's Oasis. Eventually you will come to a large tower along
the edge of the Oasis. From here, change your direction to a northeasternly
heading. Once you approach a collection of buildings on your right, continue
to head north along the outside of the city.
Eventually you will come to Pinger #5. Make sure you activate this for later.
Head east of here and you will come to a corpse. Looks like Jane's "Delegate"
had a little problem...

7] FAQ [QF-FAQ]
##############################################################################
Q. My game keeps crashing! Any way to fix this?
A. Buy an iPad! Seriously though - if you're like me and playing on one
of the older devices, the best recommended fix the devs recommend is to
power off your device completely and reboot.
My experiences have been in line with this statement. I'm running on a 2nd
gen iPod touch 16GB, and most of my crashes are a result of having the system
been on a while after using a host of different apps. The best experience
I've found is coming into the game "fresh".
And, in all seriousness, the game will flat out perform better on newer
hardware. If you're running iOS 4.0 or higher and still experiencing crashes,
the devs recommend turning off any background apps that are running.
Q. Can I swim?
A. You *can* swim, but the water is toxic. I've honestly never stood in it
long enough to see what it does - but I'm assuming nothing good can come of
it...
Q. Do I take damage from falling?
A. To the best of my knowledge, you don't take any damage regardless of how
high a height you fall from. There aren't many opportunities to fall in the
game. You can use this to your advantage in a couple key areas, though!
Q. What's across the Diablo Bridge? How do I get there?
A. Dom Templeton, a level 20 named Foe, is on the other side of the
seemingly broken Diablo Bridge. Fortunately for you, all it takes to cross
this bridge and get to the other side is to walk (Don't jump!) across it,
as if it were whole. You may need to do some maneuvering to make it across,
but after I tried to jump over and failed miserably, on my first try
walking I made it across just fine!
Beyond Dom, who will drop a fairly nice ranged weapon, is another broken
bridge with more section past it. What's there? Who knows. My bet is that it
is reserved for future expansion content.
