I hope that from reading or just browsing through this guide, you'll be able to learn something about the game. Happy tapping! If you need to specifically find something, use the Table of Contents and find the number of what you are looking for. Then, use the "Find" feature and type in the number. It should bring you to where you want to go. (The "Find" feature shortcut is accessed by pushing "Control" + "F" on the standard internet browser.) If you need to contact me to ask a question, or to contribute data, you can contact me at steve.gamefaqs(at)gmail.com If you email me, put Tap Tap Revenge somewhere in the email title. Thanks. :-) =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version History (2) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Very small changes will not be included in the version history. See the top for the last update. Version 1.00 Guide Complete. First attempt to get it into GameFAQs. March 18, 2009 - 22.8 KB =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is Tap Tap Revenge 2? (3) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you've ever played Guitar Hero or Rock Band, then you'll likely understand the concept of the Tap Tap series easily. Specifically, Tap Tap Revenge 2 is the sequel to the original Tap Tap Revenge which was released on July 4th, 2008. Tap Tap Revenge 2 was released on March 2nd, 2009. Both versions were created and developed by Tapulous. ------------------------------------ What do you do in Tap Tap Revenge 2? ------------------------------------ As I said before, Tap Tap Revenge is like Guitar Hero, except for a mobile device. Basically, what happens is that you pick a song to play, and then when it starts, circles come down the screen to the beat of the music. All you need to do is tap the circles when they pass over the targets. There are three columns that the circles will come down, and there are three targets too. Tap Tap Revenge 2 is more like Guitar Hero then the original Tap Tap, because in this version, there are also "chords" where you need to hit more then one circle at a time. There are also long notes, where you need to hold your finger down until the whole note is over. ---------------------------------- Where can I get Tap Tap Revenge 2? ---------------------------------- There are two ways that you can obtain Tap Tap Revenge. Neither of the methods include leaving your home. The first way to get it is to download it from iTunes. Note that you must have an Apple account to download it, no matter what method you choose to use. The link to download it on your computer can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/dgpbeb NOTE: THAT URL WILL REDIRECT YOU TO THE ONLINE ITUNES STORE, WHICH WILL THEN ASK YOU IF YOU WANT TO OPEN IT WITH ITUNES. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE THAT LINK IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ITUNES INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER! THE LINK WILL NOT DOWNLOAD THE APP, IT WILL JUST BRING YOU TO THE DOWNLOAD PAGE! The second way that you can get Tap Tap Revenge 2 is to download it with either your iPhone, or your iPod Touch. To do so, simply enter the App Store on your device, and then search for Tap Tap Revenge 2. Hit the button near the top to download it, and if you're prompted to, enter your password. Once you do so, it should begin to download immediately. NOTE: YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD THIS APP ON YOUR MOBILE DEVICE WITHOUT A CONNECTION TO THE INTERNET!! ---------------------------------------- How much will Tap Tap Revenge 2 cost me? ---------------------------------------- Tap Tap Revenge 2, as well as the original Tap Tap Revenge are both completely free of charge. They won't cost you a penny. However, before downloading it, you will need an Apple account. =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gameplay Components(4) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When playing the game, if you tap in the center of the screen the game will be paused. In the pause menu, you can change the volume, you can end the game, or you can resume. Note that tapping the middle of the screen will not pause the game while in Kids mode. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Circles/Notes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As I explained earlier, these circles (occasionally called balls) are to be tapped when they reach the targets. When you do so successfully, you'll earn points that will contribute towards your overall score for the song. The circles more down the three columns of the "fret" or "note" board to the rhythm and beat of the song. The circles in the left column are purple, the circles in the middle column are green, and the circles on the right column are blue. ~~~~~~~~~~ Multiplier ~~~~~~~~~~ In the middle of the top bar of the game (when playing,) you'll be able to see your score for the song. To the left of your score, you'll see four bars, and a star. Those bars and star are your multiplier. When the bar or star is empty, it's yellow, and when it's full, it's yellow. When playing, you will always have at least one bar lit up. The number of bars that show up as yellow is the number your multiplier is at. Star = x5 (Highest you can go) 4 Bars = x4 3 Bars = x3 2 Bars = x2 1 Bar = x1 (Lowest you can go) So when you have 3 bars lit up, your score per note will multiply by three when added to your overall song score. The star in your multiplier is the highest you can go, and is x5. However, when you get it, it doesn't activate right away. Instead, a message pops up saying "Shake to have your revenge." When that pops up, shake your device, and it will be activated. When it's activated, all circles will appear black, and you'll continue to have this x5 multiplier until you miss a note. The following table will show you what you need to do to get each multiplier: ------------------------------ | MULTIPLIER | STREAK NEEDED | |------------|---------------| | x1 | 0 Notes | |------------|---------------| | x2 | 20 Notes | |------------|---------------| | x3 | 30 Notes | |------------|---------------| | x4 | 40 Notes | |------------|---------------| | x5 | 50 Notes | |----------------------------| If you end a streak by missing a circle or tapping the screen when there's no circle there, your multiplier will end and you'll need to get the streak again. ~~~~~~ Arrows ~~~~~~ Occasionally, unless you turn them off, you'll see Arrows on the screen instead of notes. These arrows will either be pointing up, to the left, or to the right. Because these arrows count as notes, missing them will interrupt any streaks that you have. When they appear, simply tilt your device in whatever direction that they're pointing in. You can choose whether or not you want arrows on or off in the options menu of the game. To get to the options, simply tap options instead of downloads, or play. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Streak Meter ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Next to the score on the top bar, on the right side, you'll find a meter and a number. The meter there shows how close you are to reaching your longest streak for the song. The meter gets reset each time you do a song. For example, if your streak so far for a song is 100, and you currently have a streak of 50, the meter will appear as half full. The number next to the meter shows your current streak. ~~~~~~ Scores ~~~~~~ The following table will show the scores that you get for each note, for whatever multiplier that you have at the time you score the points. |------------------------------| | MULTIPLIER | POINTS PER NOTE | |------------|-----------------| | x1 | 75 | |------------|-----------------| | x2 | 150 | |------------|-----------------| | x3 | 225 | |------------|-----------------| | x4 | 300 | |------------|-----------------| | x5 | 375 | |------------------------------| When you hit chords of two or three notes, they count as two or three notes for your score, not just one. =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original Song List (5) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The game has 5 different levels, and each level has songs that come preloaded when you first download the game. Additional songs can be downloaded if you have a wireless connection. ~~~~~~~~~~ Kids Songs ~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Name: Tap Tap Revenge Artist: Stroke 9 Length: 2:37 2. They can be obtained by doing things such as play multiple multiplayer games, multiple offline games, and multiple online games. While earning these awards really don't do anything, I suppose they can be used for bragging rights. The following table shows the awards, and what you need to do to obtain them: |------------------------------------------------------------------| |Award | Requirement | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |The Rookie | Completed a track all the way through | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |High Five | Completed 5 tracks all the way through | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Contender | Completed 10 tracks all the way through | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Hudred K | Scored over 100,000 points | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Polaroid | Play 25 songs with shakes on | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Still Tappin' | Play 25 songs with shakes off | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Century | Play 100 games | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |300 | Play 300 games | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Playing with Fire | Play 1000 games | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Buddy Buddy | Play 10 Two Player games | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |You Have Friends | Play 100 Two Player games | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Millenium | Play 1000 Two Player games | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Most Wanted | Play 10 Live games | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Boiling Point | Play 100 Live games | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |The Regular | Play 1000 Live games | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Hat-Trick | Play on 3 consecutive days | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Lucky Number | Play on 7 consecutive days | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Bakers Dozen | Play on 13 consecutive days | |------------------|-----------------------------------------------| |Black Jack | Play on 21 consecutive days | |------------------------------------------------------------------| =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Difficulty Levels (7) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unlike the Original Tap Tap Revenge, which had only 4 levels, Tap Tap Revenge has 5 levels. They're Kids, Easy, Medium, Hard, and Extreme. ~~~~ Kids ~~~~ Kids is easy. Like, extremely easy. In fact, it's impossible to miss a note if you tap. For example, if you tap on the top of the screen, when a note is coming on the bottom, you'll still get it, and it'll count as a hit. Also, you can't end a streak. If you have a streak of 50, and just stop tapping, your streak won't end even if you don't hit the notes. Your multiplier will also never return to anything lower then what you've already achieved. Basically, you can go up, but you can't go down. Note that when in the Kids level, you will not be able to pause by tapping the middle of the screen, you'll only be able to pause by tapping the top bar. ~~~~ Easy ~~~~ Easy is easy, hence the name of the level. There are a few notes here and there, and there are only very simple patterns. There are very few chords where you need to hit more then one note at a time. In easy, it's hard to get a really high score because there are so few notes. ~~~~~~ Medium ~~~~~~ This is the middle level, and believe it or not, it's more complicated then easy, but not as much as hard. Wow, I never would have guessed! It has a few more notes here and there, and simple patterns. There are also some chords. ~~~~ Hard ~~~~ A hard level, but still not as hard as Extreme. I'd say that in the original Tap Tap Revenge, Extreme there would be equivalent to Hard in this version. There are somewhat difficult patterns, and many notes. There are also some complicated chords where you need to hit all three circles at the same time. ~~~~~~~ Extreme ~~~~~~~ The fifth and final level. It's the hardest level in the game, and is much harder then the Extreme level in the original Tap Tap Revenge. In some songs, there are confusing and difficult patterns that take time to get used to. There are also often chords where you need to hit 3 notes at a time rapidly. Basically, this is quite a difficult level. =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Multiplayer Mode (8) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I said before, playing in multiplater can earn you awards. (See the Career section.) Playing in multiplayer can also provide a fun experience for you and another friend. Basically, what happens in multiplayer is the two players both take a side of the device. You then pick a song from your song list, and you can start to play. Note that whether or not you have shakes turned on or off in the game options will not effect whether or not there are shakes in multiplayer mode. No matter what you pick, shakes will not occur in multiplayer. When playing multiplayer, the only thing that's shown for both people is their score as they play, and in the end, after the song is through, you'll be able to see who won, who had a higher score, and who had a higher percentage of hit notes. =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Downloading Songs (9) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To download additional songs for free for the game, simply enter the app, and click on downloads. Then tap on new music. Once there, you can sort through easy, medium, hard, and extreme tracks to download. You can also look at a category titled staff picks, where there are songs which I suppose are "staff picks." There's also a featred track that changes every so often. When you found a song that you'd like to download, simply tap it and the download should begin. There will be a progress bar showing how much of the download is complete, and how much there is left to download. There is also a cancel button that you can push if you ever accidentally download something. Once a song is downloaded, it will show up in the song list under its proper category. Note that when you buy a song, it may show up in more then just one level category. =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Online Play (10) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To play online, tap "Play Online" instead of "Career," "One Player," or "Two Player." When you do so, it'll try to connect. When it does, hit "Rooms" to get a list of levels. The list of levels will show how many rooms are in each level. When you pick the level you want, you'll be brought to the list of rooms. At the list of rooms, it'll show you the name, the number of players in the room, and the amount of time that the game starts in. Simply tap the room that you'd like to join, and it'll start downloading. If it downloads in time, you'll enter the game, and will be able to play. You'll play by yourself, and then after the song is over, you'll compare scores with the other players. That's how the rankings are determined; by the final score. =============================================================================== ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Credits (11) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If I've made any mistakes in this guide, please e-mail me at "steve.gamefaqs(at)gmail.com" You will be credited.
