Survival Mode challenges you to clear endless waves or progressively tougher enemies, where the only limit is your ability. ------------------------- Entering Mission Mode ------------------------- --->[ Step 1 ] When you first enter the game, you will see two gameplay modes, Mission Mode of the left and Survival Mode on the right. Please note that Survival Mode will be locked at first and will only be unlocked once you’ve played through all 6 stages of the first chapter in Mission Mode. --->[ Step 2 ] Once you’ve tapped on the Mission button, a list of available chapters will appear. Within each chapter, you’ll find a number of stages or maps which you’ll need to complete. Each stage will have its own set of monsters to defeat, chests to collect and some- times even bosses to overcome. You’ll need to pass all of the stages in each chapter in order to unlock the next chapter. --->[ Step 3 ] At the stage selection screen, you’ll be able to see all the information you need to decide on which level you should play. 1. The Level Name is displayed at the top of each Stage in the list 2. Each Stage will have a number of field missions to complete, usually offering Stars or Items as a reward. You can see how many challenges you have left at the left-hand side of each Stage in the list. 3. Some Stages have more than one exit, and will require multiple runs in order to complete. You can track how many exits you’ve reached and how many remaining by looking at the little red flag icons. 4. Each level will cost a small amount of Energy per attempt. You can see how much Energy you’ll need by looking at the little boot icons. 5. Some levels have Bosses at the end. If you see a character icon on the right hand side, be prepared for a Boss fight. 6. At the top of the list, you can also track how your overall Chapter progress is coming along. --->[ Step 4 ] Selecting a stage will take you to a menu showing a list of available Field Missions. You will be rewardedwhen you complete each mission. When you are ready, just hit “Start the Adventure” to start playing. The required Energy will be deducted from your Energy pool once you confirm to enter the battle. --->[ Step 5 ] After you have selected a stage, you will see a windowshowing list of Field Missions and available Heroes. 1. The list of Field Missions will show be populated with minor tasks and objectives that you can complete while playing through your selected Stage. Each entry will display its name and required conditions for completion. 2. On the right hand side of each entry, you’ll see the prize for completing the Field Mission. 3. Once you have completed a Field Mission, it’ll be marked with a wreathed star. You can only complete each Field Mission once. 4. At the bottom of the screen you’ll be able to select your starting party of Heroes. Use the left and right arrows to cycle through your available parties. 5. Once you’re ready, tap on the Start Adventure button to begin! --->[ Step 6 ] You can also borrow a friend’s Hero and use it in your squad. If you do not have many friends, you’ll be able to borrow a Hero from random adventurers that the game picks out for you. When you are ready, tap "OK" to start your adventure. --->[ Step 7 ] And now you’re ready to start your adventure. Most stages will give you a variety of paths to pick from. Picking the right one can often lead to great treasure and boosts – the wrong paths can lead to enemies and traps that will hinder your progress! Encountering an enemy will initiate a battle! You’ll need to bring the enemy team’s HP down to zero if you want to progress further through the stage. At the end of each stage, you’ll get a lot of Gold and EXP. If you fight against monsters, you may even have a chance to get that monster's Hero Card, allowing you to add them to your party… --------------------------------------------------- Survival Mode --------------------------------------------------- Survival Mode is the ultimate test of skill and endurance. Endless waves of progressively tougher enemies will attack you, slowly wearing your party down until you (eventually) lose. As long as you have at least one Hero standing, you will continue to face fiercer and more powerful packs of enemies. ------------------------- !! Please Note !! ------------------------- Survival Mode will only unlock once you’ve cleared the first six stages of Chapter One in Mission Mode. You’ll need all the Heroes and help you can get from Mission Mode, if you want to endure in Survival Mode! Each Survival Mode attempt will cost you 5 Energy points, though playing with Jessica the Wizard as your main character will reduce this cost to 3. ------------------------- !! Reward in this Mode !! ------------------------- At the end of each attempt, the game will rank you on the global Survival Mode Rankings leaderboard (reset weekly). The top 10 players at the end of each week will be rewarded with special prizes. In addition to prizes for the Top 10 players at the end of the week, you’ll also be rewarded with a prize pack based on how well you’ve played at the end of your attempt (including Gold, helper items and even rare Hero cards!) As you play through Survival Mode, you’ll encounter enemies, monsters and Bosses! ------------------------- !! Gameplay Note !! ------------------------- - The game will be over once all the Heroes in your party are killed. - You will be shown a summary report with your score and rank. - You’ll also have the option to revive all of your monsters with full HP and continue from where you left off if you pay 10 Star Points. - If you don’t want to continue, then you can leave the battle. - You can check your points and rankings at the Rankings menu. --------------------------------------------------- **4** :{ Hero Cards }: --------------------------------------------------- GemHero is much more than just a gem matching game. Every time you match gems, you power up magical skills and abilities owned by your squad of Heroes. There are over 200 Heroes to pick from, and each Hero is unique in some way. You can add find Heroes in a number of ways: * When you defeat a monster, they’ll sometimes drop their Hero Card * You can draw Hero Cards from the Hero deck using Gold or Stars * Chests can sometimes hold Hero Cards * Promotions and events -------------------------- Tip 1: Reading a Hero Card -------------------------- 1. Type of attack: Symbol at top left of the card displays the type of attacks the Hero engages in. Swords represent Melee attacks, Arrows represent Ranged Attacks and Canes represent Magical Attacks. 2. Level: Displays the Hero’s current and maximum level. 3. Rarity: The more stars a Hero has, the rarer and more powerful they are. 4. Element: The Element icon shows that Hero’s element and gives a representation of the Hero’s skill in battle. 5. Stats: Displays the Hero’s Attack Power and HP 6. Cost: The Cost of equipping this Hero in your squad. You can find a list of all of your Hero Cards in the Hero Management menu on main menu page. -------------------------- Tip 2: View Hero Card Info -------------------------- Tap and hold onto any card to bring up a detailed information window. This window will describe the Hero’s skills in detail and will provide some background information on that Hero’s story. Each Hero will be classified under 1 of 5 elements: * Earth = strong against Water, weak against Wind * Water= strong against Fire, weak against Earth * Fire = strong against Wind, weak against Water * Wind = strong against Earth, weak against Fire * Neutral = neither strong nor weak against any element Knowing and exploiting your enemy’s weaknesses is incredibly important, especially in later Stages and Chapters. --------------------------------------------------- **5** :{ Skills of Heroes }: --------------------------------------------------- All Hero Cards in the game have their own element and their own set of skills. There are two types of skills; Leader Skills and Card Skills --------------------------------------------------- Leader Skills --------------------------------------------------- Leader Skills are support skills that will affect the stats or combat potential of every Hero in your party. In order to activate the skill though, you will need to place the selected Hero in the leader position of your squad. --------------------------------------------------- Card Skills --------------------------------------------------- Card Skills are a Hero’s main skill. Each Hero will have their own Card Skill, which will need to be charged up through the matching of elemental gems. Skills will vary in effect and power on a per-Hero basis, and can come in a variety of forms and types. Some Card Skills will attack a single enemy multiple times, others will attack all of your enemies at once and some will even heal your party. Once you’ve charged up your Hero’s skill gauge, a Skill Gem will appear on the game board. You’ll need to tap on this Skill Gem to activate your Card Skill! ------------------------ !! Tips !! ------------------------ Match elemental gems of the same colour to boost a Hero’s skill gauge. When a skill gauge is fully charged, a skill gem similar to the ones highlightedabove will appear on your board. Tap it to use the skill instantly. --------------------------------------------------- **6** :{ Draw a Hero Card }: --------------------------------------------------- Adventurers looking to broaden their collection of Hero Cards have three options open to them: * Hope to find a Hero Card in a Chest * Hope that a Hero Card will be dropped by a monster * Draw a Hero from the Hero Deck By regularly playing the game you’ll be able to unlock a wide variety of Heroes, though rarer Heroes will be significantly more difficult to find. In order to find the best and rarest cards in the game, you’re going to need to make use of the Hero Deck. There are two Hero decks that you can draw from: 1. The Premium Deck requires Star Points for each draw, but will guarantee you a random Hero of Rare+ rank or higher. Some of the rarest Heroes in the game can only be found by drawing from the Premium Deck. 2. The Normal Deck requires Gold for each draw and will give you a random Hero of Normal to Super Rare rank. ------------------------- How to draw a Hero Card ------------------------- 1. From the game’s main menu, tap the “Pick Hero” button. 2. You can select which deck you want to draw a Hero Card from. Premium Deck requires Star Points and Normal Deck requires Gold. 3. Select the deck and cross your fingers! If you’re lucky, you’ll get the card you were hoping for (or better!) --------------------------------------------------- **7** :{ Upgrading and Awakening Hero Cards }: --------------------------------------------------- Each of your Hero Cards can be upgraded, making them more effective and efficient in battle. In order to upgrade a Hero Card, you’ll need to sacrifice your unwanted Hero Cards, merging them into the Hero Card you wish to upgrade. Upgrading your Hero Card will boost that card’s Attack Power (ATK) and Hit Points (HP). -------------------------------- How to Upgrade your Hero Cards -------------------------------- This step-by-step guide will walk you through the process of upgrading your Hero Cards. 1. Make your way to the Hero Management menu by tapping the Hero Mgt button in the main menu 2. Select Upgrade Hero from the Hero Management menu 3. Tap the Hero Card that you want to upgrade 4. Select cards that you wish to sacrifice. Each card you sacrifice will add to your chosen Hero’s EXP, but will also cost Gold to process. You can sacrifice up to 6 cards at a time. Once you’ve selected the cards you wish to sacrifice, press Enhance. 5. Remember: a sacrificed card is lost forever and cannot be recovered. Support staff will not be able to recover incorrectly sacrificed Heroes, so please be careful. DO NOTE sacrifice a Hero unless you are 100% happy to lose them from your collection. 6. If the cards you Sacrifice provide enough EXP to your chosen hero to level them up, you’ll see a window outlining their stat gains. ------------------------ Awakening ------------------------ There is also a second upgrading system that is available to Heroes that have hit Level 50. Awakening will allow you to boost your Hero Card even further, doubling their stat potential and improving their Card Ability. Not all cards can be Awakened however. In order to be eligible for Awakening, a Hero Card must meet the following criteria: * The card must have a wing symbol in the upper right corner. * The Hero Card must be upgraded to its maximum level. Newly Awakened Heroes also have their levels reset (but will also double their starting stats). In many cases, this will lead to a significant drop in that Hero’s current stats, but will give them the potential for massively improved stats at Level 50. Awakening a Hero is done in the same way as a normal upgrade. You select “Upgrade Hero” and then select the max level Hero you wish to Awaken. Unlike normal upgrades however, in order to attempt an Awakening, you’ll need to sacrifice Awakening cards. These cards come in three varieties: * Bunny Hop (R+) * Red Cow (SR+) * Tiger Balm (MR) Be aware that Awakenings can fail. The chance of success will depend upon the type and number of Awakening Cards used in the upgrade process. --------------------------------------------------- **8** :{ Helper Items }: --------------------------------------------------- Helper Items can invaluably useful throughout your gem-matching adventure. They’ll help you out when you’re stuck on tough stages or when you want to blitz through waves of enemies quickly. There are four Helper Items in GemHero that you’re bound to find yourself regularly making use of. --->[ Reset Items ] Resets the game board by shuffling all of the gems on it. Use this item if you struggle to find any matches on the game board. Note: The game will automatically shuffle your board for free when you run out of moves. --->[ Cross Item ] The Cross Item releases a burst of lightning across the board in interspersed horizontal and vertical lines, shattering all of the gems its touches. Use the Cross Item as a quick and easy way to fill your Heroes’ skill gauges. --->[ HP Recovery Potion ] Use this item to heal all of your Heroes HP by 20% --->[ Fever Time ] Instantly triggers Fever Time Mode. During Fever Time’s short duration, you need to tap and destroy as many gems as possible. Each gem you tap will fill up your Heroes’ skill gauges. Use this item to very quickly and effectively chain together strings of Hero Skills against your enemies. Note: Fever Time will trigger automatically once you manage to match 20 gems in a combo. --------------------------------------------------- **9** :{ Squads and Heroes }: --------------------------------------------------- Before you play through Mission mode or Survival mode, be sure to set up your Hero squads. Your success or failure will depend heavily upon the Heroes you choose to take into battle, so pick carefully. You begin your GemHero journey with access to only one squad, though you’ll be able to unlock up to three more squads by using Star points. Your squads must all have unique Heroes (so no Hero can be in more than one squad at a time). At set points during Mission Mode and Survival Mode, you’ll have the opportunity to swap your active squad out for one of your reserve squads. ------------------------ !! Tips !! ------------------------ You can swap your squads by stopping at Resting Places --------------------------------------------------- Squad Arrangement --------------------------------------------------- Each squad will consist of up to 3 Heroes, though you can extend your squad size to 4 if you borrow a friend’s Hero at the start of the Stage. As the commander of your squads, you can pick and choose whichever Heroes you like for your squads, as long as they do not exceed your current maximum ‘Cost’. Cost is like a limit on your main character’s ability to lead troops into battle. The tougher the troops, the harder it will be for your main character to lead(and the more that they’ll cost to equip). If the cost of your Heroes exceeds your main character’s maximum cost, you will be unable to take that squad with you into battle. You can increase your maximum cost by levelling up your main character. Each squad must also have a leader! You can set any Hero to be a squad leader by placing them in the first position of the squad. Squad leaders will bestow special bonuses or stat attributes to their comrades, often drastically changing the strength or capabilities of the squad itself. You can check a Hero’s Leader Skill by viewing their Hero Card in the Hero Management menu. ------------------------ !! Tips !! ------------------------ Picking the right squad leader can make a huge difference
