INJUSTICE: GODS AMONG US iOS Strategy Guide/FAQ by Robo_Mike v. 1.10 for app version v. 1.6.1 Good day and welcome to my Injustice IOS Strategy Guide/FAQ. I hope that the tips here will make your quest to unlock items for the console version easier and better. But be warned: this game still takes a lot of grinding and some luck in getting the cards that you want via the in-game booster packs. I strongly advise against buying credits through the in-app purchases. The starter pack is $4.99 again, but there's no reason to pay for this or buy any energy credits with $$$ unless you REALLY wanna support the devs... but then again, I'd recommend just buying the console Injustice game for this purpose. *** TABLE OF CONTENTS Section A. TL;DR ================== Here we outline the guide's recommendations to start. Basics: Optional: Buy Injustice core game to support devs. :D 1. Always unlock your skills as you level up, but don't upgrade yet. 2. When starting out buy ONLY the daily discounted gold pack (...and hope you get Batman.) OR 1 each of Nightwing versions. 3. POKE. Repeat until dead. 4. BLOCK AND PUNISH. 5. Use meter when full or lv1-2 special move can kill enemy. Progression: 1. Try to avoid buying bronze and silver packs. Always go straight for the discounted gold pack. 2. If you need more money, use your remaining characters in easy battles that finish quickly. 3. When grinding, always fight in the highest level battle that your group can handle. 4. Aim for LV5 Gold Elite cards. 5. Special Mention: Lv5 Elite Batman enables you to easily grind money in the Mirror Match in the final page (before are able to move on to the matches afterwards). The best characters in the game, per tier in my opinion: * BRONZE - Nightwing (Normal) * SILVER - Nightwing (Regime) * GOLD - Batman (Normal) Other decent characters, in alphabetical order: * Batgirl * Batman (Insurgency) * Doomsday (Normal) * The Flash (Normal) * The Flash (Regime) * Lex Luthor (Normal) * Lobo * Solomon Grundy (Normal) * Superman (Red Son) * Superman (Regime) * Wonder Woman (Normal) * Wonder Woman (Regime) *** ========================================= Section B... Honorable Mentions: Batgirl, Black Adam (Regime), Batman (Insurgency), Superman (Red Son) *** ============================== Section E... Strategy and Tips ============================== STARTING OUT 1. To start with, you always get 3 random bronze characters. If you want, you can remove the game from your apps, re-install the game and hope for a good set (Nightwing + Lex Luthor + The Flash or Deathstroke is perfect). 2. It is recommended you sign up or log onto your Warner Brothers ID (WBID) to get a free Green Lantern (New 52). 3. Try to have at least six characters, even bronze ones. Note you get a character free in some of the First Page battles. 4. Once you have six characters don't buy another bronze or silver pack or character (unless you want both Nightwings). 5. Resist the temptation of buying your favorite characters directly unless you already have your stable party of 6 Gold/Silver characters. (Unless it's Nightwing or Batman or Regime Wonder Woman.) 6. The first boss is fairly do-able with 3 bronze characters. 7. If you can't beat the boss yet, grind a bit in Battle 6 for more levels or until you can buy a Gold character. ENERGY MANAGEMENT 1. Each character has a maximum of 10 bars of energy. Each energy bar refills at the rate of 12 minutes per bar. It takes two hours (120 minutes) to fill up a character from zero. (This recharge time is reduced by various cards, but don't go out of your way to buy them.) 2. In general you need 2 complete parties to beat most battles in one sitting. Go for 6 gold and/or silver characters! Any leftover characters can be used for grinding credits in lower level battles. 3. It's generally not worth it to invest in energy regeneration, or buy energy refills with $$$. 4. You get 2-3 energy refills for finishing most battles for the first time. (Usually 2 for early battles and 3 for later ones.) GENERAL TIPS 1. Don't be tempted to buy credits with $$$. Ever. Your shortage will be solved by a bit of grinding. Money will stop being a real problem advancing through the 4th or 5th page. (It will be a real problem again by the final page, though.) 2. Early in the game, grind credits on either Battle 6, Page 1 or Battle 13, Page 2. These are the easier battles that Bronze characters can handle before the Silver cards start coming in. 3. Take advantage of the discounted Gold Booster Pack. Unless you're rolling in dough, or have a ton of free time, you probably won't be able to buy more than one Gold Pack per day anyway. 4. Know when to fold. If you are having trouble with a battle, just quit that one and level up at another set of battles in your level range you are confident of winning. 5. Bonus battles are usually saved for later because of ridiculous conditions. 6. Buy a character's LV2 and LV3 Special Attacks at (character) Level 5 and Level 20, respectively. BATTLE TIPS 1. POKES are the fastest way to beat your opponent and maximize your time vs. gold and experience gain. By NOT knocking them down or performing the slow third attack finisher, in conjunction with a fast spammable attack, you can maximize your normal attack damage over time, while building meter for your special attacks. 2. BLOCK the opponent's attacks and PUNISH them. This is a good thing to do for characters without fast attacks. 3. Always, always block the enemy's special moves. Some enemies just have too much attack power. 4. For bosses, it's very helpful to drain their meter regularly if you have the characters to do it. Most of their damage output is from their special attacks and if you prevent these you may just succeed. 5. Light Attack string builds more meter for you than the Strong Attack string. 6. With the exception of Wonder Woman (Regime) you do not get any meter for blocking an enemy's attack. (But the computer does gain meter if YOU block their attacks. Very annoying.) BUYING/UPGRADING CHARACTERS (in order) 1. Get 6 bronze cards to start. (You may reach 6 bronze characters without buying any by the end of page 1 thanks to some freebies from battles.) 2. With the exception of Batman (Normal), Wonder Woman (Regime), and all Nightwings - it is probably not helpful to buy other characters straight up. 3. Don't buy a bronze, silver pack and go straight to the discounted gold pack. 4. Once you have a couple of gold characters, focus on promoting one character to Elite LV5 before moving on to the next. 5. Only when a character is Elite Lv5 should you consider upgrading special moves. And only then, you should focus on the Lv3 Super Move. 6. Three LV5 Elite promoted characters and you may be able to finish the last page. 7. You get a free character card the first time you beat a Special Battle. 8. Optionally, you may choose to invest in a character's unique upgrades, they are generally worth it except the energy upgrade. LATE GAME PROGRESSION - ALL THE WAY TO MIRROR MATCH * Prior to this, you just need to pick the toughest 2-energy battle you can handle and grind that for money. 1. Once you reach the last page, good places to grind money to promote a Level 5 Elite are the first battle and fourth battle. 2. You can probably switch to Page 5 Bonus Battle once you have a Lv3 Elite Gold Card. 3. Once you have Batman (Normal)** at LV5 Elite promoted, you can grind the Special Battle's mirror match using Batman (Normal)** and 2 bronze characters of your choice. ** You can also use certain other characters. See Q&A section for details. 4. After that, once you can handle it, you just need to grind the Page 6 Bonus Battles and never have to worry about money in this game anymore. LATE GAME GRINDING COMPARISON (1st Battle Money unless mentioned) 1. Page 5 Battle 33 - 1,070 credits (2 energy, 3 silvers) 2. Page 5 Battle 34 - 1,080 (2 energy, 3 silvers) 3. Page 6 Battle 36 - 1,230 (3 energy, 1 gold + ??) 4. Page 6 Battle 39 - 1,260 (3 energy, 1 Lv1 gold + 2 gold) 5. Page 5 Bonus Battle - 1,680 (3 energy, 1 lv3 gold + ??) 6. Page 6 Bonus Battle - 1,950 (3 energy, 1 lv5 certain cards + 2 bronze) 7. Page 6 Bonus Battle (Battles 2+) - 4,620+ each (2 lv5 golds + Lex Luthor recommended) * Note: Page 5 normal battles are more efficient in energy to credit ratio compared to Page 6 battles 36-39. However, if you're using energy exploit, you may favor time efficiency over energy efficiency and you may like grinding the Page 6 battles instead. For Page 5 battles, I recommend Battle 33 over Battle 34 because you can grind it easily with silver characters up to the third battle. CHARACTER-SPECIFIC STRATEGY (Under construction) Batgirl 1. Free meter can speed up grinding a lot, especially combined with Wonder Woman (Regime)'s passive skill. Batman (any) 1. Landing a Level 1 can result in a guaranteed Level 2 super for Batman or any of his allies. 2. Light Attack x1 is a good poke. Jab the oppponent until they faint, you only need to react when they try a special attack, block it. (Except CPU can make some characters attack faster, be careful. Batman, Flash, Nightwing are some examples.) 3. Batman (Normal): It's always a good idea to have him all the time to end battles faster. 4. Batman (Normal): Way of the Bat (Level 2) can finish off multiple weakened foes. Black Adam (any) 1. Tag out often to take advantage of his passive skill. 2. Passive skill now reflects special/super move damage as of patch v1.5.1 and it will still consume charges per hit. VS. When an enemy's Black Adam passive is active, LV3 special attacks will have reflected damage against you. Be careful! VS. Use Light Attack or a multi-hitting LV1-2 special move like Green Lantern's LV2 Lead Rain to take the least damage while removing Black Adam's shield. Green Arrow (Normal), Lex Luthor, Sinestro, Black Adam (any) 1. One strategy is to use the Energy Drain abilities whenever available to reduce the damage done by opponent significantly. You can also use them as "assist" characters to your strongest people, they can drain the enemy's energy and get out safely. Very helpful against boss battles. Green Arrow (Insurgency) 1. Use Level 1 Special Attack to freeze enemy, then follow up with Level 2 Special Attack from Green Arrow or an ally. Doomsday (Regime) 1. Tag him in when a character's about to be killed. Beat him to trigger the passive. 2. Use special move immediately to tag incoming opponent. 3. If you don't have meter, tag out ASAP to preserve the passive. Doomsday (and all other characters) can build meter while resting. [NOTE: You lose bonus when you tag out as of 1.5.1.] VS. Don't die. Doomsday (Normal) 1. Tag him in when an enemy's down to an inch of their lives. Beat them up and knock them out to trigger the passive. VS. Use three gold characters when fighting this guy, and try not to lose a single character. Lobo 1. His passive makes enemies with Energy Drain much less annoying. Nightwing (any) 1. You can use Level 2 Special Attack on a low life opponent and deal some damage to their partner after they tag out. 2. Strong Attack x2 is a good poke. In most cases you can easily block special moves the opponent may try, and even interrupt slower characters' normal attacks. The Flash (any) 1. Strong Attack x1 is a good poke. In most cases you can easily block special moves the opponent may try, and even interrupt slower characters' normal attacks. 2. The Flash's passives result in an even faster attack, making it easier to read the opponent and making it even harder to retaliate for them. Superman (Red Son), Wonder Woman (Red Son) 1. In my opinion, if you're gonna use one Red Son character you might as well just use these two and a third character like Batman with a decent passive team bonus. Red Son Solomon Grundy's ability isn't worth the character slot. Superman (Regime) 1. Doing a Level 1 or Level 2 Special Attack during passive power-up is very very good. Just don't do the Level 3. Wonder Woman (Normal) 1. Simply block three times before doing any special move for ridiculous damage. VS. Keep your other finger ready for blocking. Alternatively, never attack her, block and let her come at you to avoid triggering her passive. Wonder Woman (Regime) 1. Best character for defense, blocking gains a ton of meter. VS. If you want, just never attack her, block and let her come at you to avoid triggering her passive. This isn't as important to note as when fighting Wonder Woman (Normal), though. *** =========================== Section F... Challenge Mode =========================== You need to go online to get the challenge mode mission. It's a set of 5 Battles that are composed of 12-15 fights each. You get some sort of reward at the end. The list of challenges here will be sorted by ending day. But once the deadlines pass, you can no longer take that challenge ever again and it is lost forever. Challenges have restrictions, like "only Bronze Cards allowed". In addition, some fights (usually every 4 fights) have random conditions (Chaos, Countdown, etc.)--and you may get energy cards for those battles as well. All fights cost challenge points. You get 25 to start, but can get more by winning normal battles (0.5 challenge points per energy required for the fight), or buy more from the store: Small Challenge Pack - 3 CP for 10,000 credits Large Challenge Pack - 20 CP for 60,000 credits You can skip matches using credits. Cost seems to vary depending on difficulty and energy cost of the fights, from 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 15,000 and 30,000. You can suspend a challenge and fight other battles, and you'll be exactly where you left off! You cannot replay a challenge you have already won. You can not replay a fight you've already won while going through a challenge. * Patch 1.5.1 changes > Normal battles give 0.5 challenge points per energy spent, down from 1. > Small Challenge Pack now 10,000 credits, up from 5,000. > Large Challenge Pack now 60,000 credits, up from 30,000. 01. Glitches and Exploits ================================== GLITCHES * (1.1 only, FIXED in 1.2) You can have three of the same card in a team! * (1.1-1.2 only, FIXED in 1.4) Daily Login bonus totally did not work. There were no workarounds for this. * (1.1-1.2 only, FIXED in 1.4) Support cards not working when gotten from packs. If you get a support card from a pack it totally doesn't give its bonus. You can verify this easily if you get a +XP card. or +Energy card from packs, you won't get the benefit. Note: Buying a booster pack in 1.01-1.02 is a risk where getting support card will make it useless (re-buying it does not work). * (1.1-1.2 only, FIXED in 1.4) Nightwing's Passive Skill used to reduce damage from ALL moves including Special Moves and Supers! This makes him VERY annoying to fight, but also made your own Nightwings super good. * (1.1-1.2 only, FIXED in 1.4) Any passive that gave bonus damage for your team actually gives a +25% bonus rather than the listed value! (This made the passives of Green Arrow Insurgency, Lex Luthor Normal and Harley Quinn Insurgency just as good as Batman.) * (1.4-1.5.1 only, fixed in 1.6.1) Characters released starting from Lobo (including Batgirl and Zod) appear to have pathetic Level 3 Super damage. (As in, only as strong as the UNCHARGED Level 2.) In-game, those moves deal much more damage, so it's only a card display bug. * It's a new day, and Discounted Gold Pack didn't re-appear. (iPad) Try quitting the game entirely and coming back in. Make sure you are logged in to WBID. HOW: 1. Go back to the app menu. 2. Press the home (circle) button twice to see a list of recent apps. 3. Press and hold Injustice until you see a red Minus (-) icon in iOS6 and press the Minus icon to close. Or press it and drag it to the top until it's off the screen in iOS7. 4. Wait a couple of seconds before starting up Injustice again. 5. Now go back in and see the pack is available. Otherwise, wait or advance date up to tomorrow and then try again. * Opponents can block from weird positions (e.g. flying in the air, knocked down on the ground, sometimes even while stunned!) This is very annoying and prevents true combos into special moves. But it seems they do have a reduced chance of blocking from those positions at least. I think. Sample "combos" affected by this include: 1. Superman (any)'s Light Attack x3 into Knockdown Blow into Flying Punch (Level 1 Special Attack). 2. Superman (any)'s Strong Attack x3 into Flying Punch. 3. Lex Luthor (Insurgency)'s Strong Attack x3 into Oribital Strike (Level 2 Special Attack). 4. Green Arrow (Normal)'s Ice Arrow (Lv1) into Hurricane Bow (Lv2). * Dead characters can use LV3 Supers! Just time it correctly and use the LV3 super right before the opponent deals the killing blow via their normal attack. Your character will do their super, but will be dead afterwards and your next character is already onscreen when the super finishes. * Cancel the enemy's special attack with your LV3 Super! The timing on this one is strict, you really have to perform your LV3 super right as they are doing their special move. (You're more likely to achieve this accidentally.) When performed correctly, your super animation will execute but you will see the name of the enemy's special move on the screen. (Yes, the opponent's meter will be used up!) * Floating Harley Quinn! Some versions of Harley float in the air when hit by Nightwing's Lv3 super. * Special moves with damage over time effects happen to the next character if the current enemy dies and there are more "hits" to the special move. (Contributed by Dijinn) The easiest to do this is with Catwoman, where if you kill someone with her Lv1 and she's still doing her dance, the next character that comes in will get Bleeding even if they are never damaged by it. EXPLOITS * Unlimited Energy Simply advance system clock by at least two hours to recharge your characters. * Always get the character card you want from a Booster Pack. * You can also use the backup method to try characters before you invest in them, experiment with various card upgrades, etc. HOW: 1. Download a third party iOS file browser such as Phone Disk, iTools, etc. (Find one that's free, of course.) 2. Browse to the Injustice (or InjusticeBrawler.2013) folder. 3. Backup the Documents folder to your hard disk. 4. Buy a pack. See if it's the character you want. 5. If not, quit Injustice completely, see above. 6. Replace the Documents folder with your backup. 7. Go back into Injustice and do step 4 again. 8. Buy a pack. See if it's the character you want. 9. Repeat steps 5-8 until you get the character you want. * Unlimited chances to buy Starter Packs (1.5-1.5.1 only, fixed in 1.6.1) Currently you can buy Starter Packs as long as you have 50,000 credits (rather than just once as the game suggests); after you buy one, just quit the game and it will be back in the shop. (CRUD! It's back to $4.99!) *** ================================================= Section H... Frequently Asked Questions, And Tips ================================================= Q: At what card setup do you recommend fighting the boss cards? A: Green Lantern - Lv 10 any 3 Bronze (Lex Luthor helps a lot) Sinestro - Silver card + 2 Bronze (Nightwing Regime is great) Doomsday - Gold card + Silver card + Lex Luthor Batman - 2 Gold cards + Silver card Prison Superman - 1 Lv1 Elite Gold card + 2 Gold cards. Q: I have trouble powering up my Level 1 or 2 special moves, is there any way to do it better? A: SWIPE - you will just need to react to the onscreen arrow and swipe in the direction indicated. practice hard! SWIPE REPEATEDLY - use two hands and swipe alternately with the pointer fingers. there's some timing to this, otherwise your 2 swipes might count as one. BAR WITH MOVING LINE - just time your press when the horizontal bar is at the center. practice your timing! the cursor movement speed also varies per character and special move. CIRCLE - rapidly tap with four fingers (2 per hand) inside the circle CIRCLE AND BAR - use two fingers on the same hand and tap them on the screen alternately as fast as you can. you don't need to tap inside the circle. this is the hardest and most inconsistent game mechanic. I still don't know the secret behind this :D TAP - you just have to press the circles that appear, in order. Q: Now that the starter pack is 50,000 credits, is it worth starting with it? A: I dare say it's comparable to the starter gold pack to get through the pages with Silver characters before you reach the gold ones. Besides, you have chance to get Nightwing (Regime) or Doomsday (Regime) so it's worth a shot. EDIT as of patch 1.6.1: Nope, back to $4.99, forget this. :| Q: Is there any difference between promoting a character when s/he is at (character) Level 1 or Level 20 or Level 40? (Thanks lookie2k!) A: So far, it seems like it is similar to Pokemon where stats of the promoted character will be adjusted. It doesn't seem to matter what level of the character they get promoted, they will have the exact same Elite V stats in the end. HOW TO TEST - Grab a card that's not max level you're about to promote with extra cards. First level it up, promote and note the stats. Then restore your save (see Exploits for how) and then promote before leveling up the same amount of levels as the previous attempt. Stats will be the same. Q: The Mirror Match on the last page is hard! A: Here's the in-depth guide to the Mirror Match... SETUP NEEDED: 1. Elite 5 promoted Gold/Silver character with low-damage level 1 that is NOT Energy Drain. a. If Silver, must upgrade their Lv3 Super to the max. Otherwise, optional for a gold one. 2. 2 Bronze characters of your choice. (Preferably with no Energy Drain unless you intend to use that on the enemy's Gold/Silver character.) 3. Arrange your team so you start with a Bronze character. THE FIGHT: 1. When starting, immediately switch to your Gold/Silver character. Pummel the Bronze characters with normal attacks to build meter. 2. When your enemy's Gold/Silver character comes in, make sure they only use their Lv1 and you have to block it. If they use their Lv2, your character, especially a Silver one, is as good as dead. a. If they gain their Lv1, stop attacking until they use it. b. If they gain their Lv2, switch to a Bronze character and hope the enemy wastes their meter on them. (Or use your Energy Drain if you have it.) 3. Use the Lv3 Super on your enemy's Gold/Silver character. They should be dead or near dead after use. 4. Clean up by defeating the rest of the characters. Q: What if I miss a challenge mode character like Zod or Batgirl? Are they lost forever? A: I THINK they are usually inserted in the Gold Pack random drop after their challenge, and in the next patch. Now you have to rely on randomness to get them.
