ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZA Version History --------------- 0.0: Started the guide today (Happy New Year's everybody!). Got the basic info down and began walkthrough. 12/31/12 1.0: Walkthrough finished for first 25 levels, will definitely update as more become available. 01/02/13 2.0: Walkthrough updated for the patch, and now includes the next ten levels. 04/14/13 Table of Contents ----------------- 1) Intro and How to Use This Guide 2) The Gist of Factory96 2.1 The Rooms 2.2 Strategies and Tips 3) Level Walkthroughs 4) Thank Yous and Acknowledgements ================================== 1) Intro and How to Use This Guide ================================== Greetings, my fellow gamers! I am hobbes1294, and I will be your mentor in mastering Factory96, a room escape game that I have found to be extremely entertaining. I am currently 18 and a senior at my high school in Colorado, and although I do enjoy puzzle games, I am an avid MtG, WoW, TF2 and Final Fantasy player as well. About the guide itself, there are a couple things I have to say. Firstly, this guide, just like all my other ones, are of my own creation. If I had to get information off of someone, I have them cited in Section 5 at the bottom. If you decided to skip over the legal disclaimer at the top of this page, then let me reiterate that I have ZERO tolerance for people who try to rip me off. I have no problems with you printing off this guide or giving it to a friend or something like that. That is nonprofit advertising, which is something I like and encourage. But if you try black marketing this guide and even consider making money off it, I will find you and sue you and get you into a gigantic heap of legal trouble. So do not do it, for both of our sakes. Secondly, should you need to contact me for whatever reason, you can get a hold of me at my email address. I have it at the top, and since I seem to be a prime target for spam, I've got to write my address like that. So make sure you replace the (at) with @ and the (dot) with a period. I'd also appreciate it if you'd put in something like "F96 Guide" on the subject line. I check my email usually every morning, and you can expect a response sometime in the afternoon as a general rule. Please feel free to send me comments, questions, suggestions or criticisms, but do NOT send me: -Anything that makes any sort of attempt to flame/bash/troll me as a person -Anything written in foreign languages -Anything that does not use decent spelling/grammar -BS or dumb advice -Anything that does not relate to the guide at all -Friend requests or anything involving social networking If I do get anything like that, it will go straight into the trash bin and will not be replied to. Simply adhere to those rules and, please, have some courtesy. Alright, that's all the legal stuff. Thank you for reading/skipping over that section. Let's get going to the good stuff! One last thing: Ctrl+F. Learn to love it. ========================= 2) The Gist of Factory 96 ========================= ------------- 2.1 The Rooms ------------- Factory96 is a room escape game. In other words, each level contains a puzzle that you must solve in order to proceed to the next. In F96, the puzzle is always the same: you must deduce and enter a 3-digit code that will unlock the next room. It sounds simple initially, but as you go further into the factory, the puzzles become harder and harder and your deductive skills will become more and more strained. You may need to pick up an object to interact with something, or perhaps shake the device to uncover a crucial clue. Sometimes you may even need to take a wild guess at the code. If you can analyze the clues effectively and deduce the code correctly, then you will find that Factory96 is a very, very entertaining game. ----------------------- 2.2 Strategies and Tips ----------------------- * Everything on the screen is there for a reason. Even if you think something is insignificant or simply for flavor, make sure that it actually is. * When the level loads, immediately shake your device to see if anything happens. This is one technique put in the game that is extremely easy to forget about, so doing it before hand will not have you ramming your head against a wall later on. * If you don't see any numbers, make some. Look for anagrams, equations, patterns or any other visual clues pertaining to the code. * Sometimes, it just helps to be patient. Some levels are extremely convoluted or complex, or it just may be on a timer. Calm heads operate much better than panicked or stressed ones. ===================== 3) Level Walkthroughs ===================== Now let's talk about the actual levels. In this section I will break down each individual level and explain how you can get to the solutions. If you are looking for a certain level in particular, punch in this code to your Find bar (Ctrl + F): 3.XXX Where XXX is the 3-digit number of the level you want. So, for instance, if I wanted to jump to Level 24, I would type in 024 in place of XXX. Let's begin! ------- Level 1 3.001 ------- Look to the left of the door at the hazardous materials LABEL. The code is the three numbers on the diamond. CODE: 242 ------- Level 2 3.002 ------- Look at the green door in the center of the screen. The code is right next to the PHONE symbol on the upper third of the door. CODE: 112 ------- Level 3 3.003 ------- Grab the RAKE underneath the window. Tap it in your inventory then tap above the window to knock down the LEAVES and expose the code. CODE: 335 ------- Level 4 3.004 ------- Grab the SPRAY CAN near the right corner of the screen. Select it and then rub the wall near the bottom of the stairwell to expose the code. CODE: 891 ------- Level 5 3.005 ------- Grab the white ELECTRICAL BOX from the bottom left of the screen and attach it to the two loose WIRES on the right. The code will blink through the fence near the top. CODE: 675 ------- Level 6 3.006 ------- Pick up the SLEDGEHAMMER from the right of the screen and use it to break the WINDOW on the left. The somewhat-difficult-to-read code is in the CLOUDS. CODE: 832 ------- Level 7 3.007 ------- First, look at the WINDOW closest to you. Then look down at the SHADOW it casts on the floor. What does it look like to you? CODE: 135 ------- Level 8 3.008 ------- Grab the partially-off-screen BRUSH on the right and scrub the back WALL with it. The code is written on it. CODE: 592 ------- Level 9 3.009 ------- Tap each of the FRAMES to develop the photos in them. Note the number of PEOPLE in each picture and enter that into the code box. CODE: 724 -------- Level 10 3.010 -------- First, grab the FLASHLIGHT that will either be on the chair to the right or next to it. We will need it for a later level. As for the current one, we will need to do a little bit of algebra. First, let's take a quick look at the inscription on the wall: A x 4 / B = 2 x / - 3 x 2 - 2 = 4 - - + 8 / 2 + 4 = 8 = = = 1 0 C Any math junkies reading that should feel a compulsion to solve for A, B and C, so let's do that. And, for the sake of chronology, let's start with A. The leftmost equation going down says: A x 3 - 8 = 1 OR 3A - 8 = 1 Which implies: 3A = 9, or A = 3 Now that we know A = 3, we can solve for B: 3 x 4 / B = 2 12 / B = 2 12 = 2B B = 6 Finally, by substituting into the equation for C: 6 - 2 + 4 = C C = 4 + 4 = 8 So.... CODE: 368 -------- Level 11 3.011 -------- Look at the paint pattern on the wall: JAN MAY MAR JAN is the first month of a year (1), MAY is the fifth (5), and MAR is the third (3). CODE: 153 -------- Level 12 3.012 -------- This one gave me a few problems at first. On the garage door are three Chinese CHARACTERS, but they don't correspond to the traditional characters used for numbers. So what do we do? Well, look at the first character from the left. If you look closely enough, you'll notice that it seems to be consturcted out of the Latin letters F, O, U and R, which spells out FOUR. Similarly, we see the second character is made out of the letters O, N and E, and the third is made out of T, O and W (which can be rearranged to spell TWO). CODE: 412 -------- Level 13 3.013 -------- Pay no attention to the cards under the knife. Instead, look at the TWO and ACE (1) on the table and then the THREE on the floor. CODE: 213 -------- Level 14 3.014 -------- Give the device a shake and a GRENADE (!) will fall onto the floor. Pull the pin, duck and cover, and enter the code that appears on the exposed wall. CODE: 684 -------- Level 15 3.015 -------- Tap the purple BRICK in the lower left corner to remove it and put it in your inventory. Then tap the BALL OF PAPER that appears and enter the code. CODE: 471 -------- Level 16 3.016 -------- Take the CROWBAR and use it to pry open the refrigerator. Inside is a 6-pack of BEER and a dozen (12) EGGS. CODE: 612 -------- Level 17 3.017 -------- Look at the three barrels containing NITROGEN, BERYLLIUM and OXYGEN from left to right. If you've ever taken a chemistry class, you would know the ATOMIC NUMBERS for all three of those elements: N: 7 Be: 4 O: 8 CODE: 748 -------- Level 18 3.018 -------- Despite the clocklike structure of this apparatus and the beeping noise, this is NOT a clock. Instead, you want to focus on the ANGLE the two arrows make, which measures 5 pi over 4.... erm... 225 degrees. CODE: 225 -------- Level 19 3.019 -------- Take the BRICK you picked up four levels ago and use it to smash the center WINDOW for the code. CODE: 894 -------- Level 20 3.020 -------- This is a tricky one. First, trace the pattern the 1's make on the boxes. They follow in the path of a 3. Next, follow the 2's. They go in the path of a 5. Finally, the 3's are in the path of 1. CODE: 351 -------- Level 21 3.021 -------- Shake the device downward to knock down the board. The inscription reads: FBI-141 And yes, this does make sense. Think about how those letters are arranged in the alphabet. F is the sixth letter, B is the second, and I is the ninth. So we can rewrite that inscription as: 629-141 Carrying out the subtraction then gives us 488. CODE: 488 -------- Level 22 3.022 -------- Deploy the FLASHLIGHT (finally!) to light up the stairwell and look at the bottom part of the right wall for the code. CODE: 886 -------- Level 23 3.023 -------- Turn on the PROJECTOR and let it work for a little bit. It will display beams of GREEN, PURPLE and YELLOW light. To find the code, take note of the number of letters in each beam. GREEN has 5 letters, PURPLE has 6, and YELLOW also has 6. CODE: 566 -------- Level 24 3.024 -------- Tap each PANE of glass twice in the gigantic WINDOW in the center of the screen. The code will be displayed in yellow in the WINDOW. CODE: 714 -------- Level 25 3.025 -------- Shake the device to reveal three words: NOSE HER EXIT This is actually an anagram, since we can rearrange the letters in those words to make: ONE THREE SIX CODE: 136 -------- Level 26 3.026 -------- Take the SCREWDRIVER in the hole above the bricks. Use it to take out the four SCREWS and then tap the PANEL to remove it. You'll then see the following WORDS: OPRZET GOHRONY ROTWARZY Gibberish, yes. But the words do mean something. First, take a look at the colors of each of the words. The first word is in ORANGE, the second in GREEN, and the third in RED. This is asking you to count up the number of orange, green and red sections of the wall. There are two oranges, three greens, and four reds CODE: 234 -------- Level 27 3.027 -------- Pull on the ROPE to either the right or left. A black POLOROID will come into view suspended by a clothespin or two. Shake your device to DEVELOP the Poloroid and reveal a number. Continue pulling on the rope to reveal a second Poloroid. Again, shake to develop and note the number. Repeat this process a third time to get the third number. You should then have 3 unique digits: 4, 5 and 8. The puzzle doesn't really give you any additional help here, so just try random permutations of those digits until you find the right one (there are only 6 possible answers). CODE: 845 -------- Level 28 3.028 -------- Tap the computer MONITOR to turn it on. It will display a web browser with the following ERROR: The webpage cannot be found. If you happen to know any HTML or have had this happen to you before, then you may know that this is a 404 error. CODE: 404 -------- Level 29 3.029 -------- This puzzle features a GARAGE DOOR with the following INSCRIPTION above it: 7Jnn7P Note that you can swipe the GARAGE DOOR up, down, left and right to make it transition to a new door. But in which combination do we swipe it? First, turn your device upside down. The INSCRIPTION above the door now becomes: dLUUrL This now becomes our solution to the garage door issue. While the device is still upside down, swipe the doors down, left, up, up, right and left in that order. (Note that this is from your new perspective with the inverted device.) If you did this correctly, a new DOOR will appear with the PI symbol in the corner. The numerical value of pi, to two decimals, is 3.14. CODE: 314 -------- Level 30 3.030 -------- Tap the red BUTTON on the top left of the CALCULATOR to turn it on. But the display then fizzles out. Hold the BUTTON this time to make it come back on, then swipe the SOLAR PANEL in the top right to make the display brighter. We can now clearly see that the display says: 7108 But this can't be the code, since this is four digits and we only need three. So what do we do? Well, remember back when you were a kid and you turned calculators upside down sometimes to make them say words? Same idea here. If you turn your device upside down, then the calculator stops saying 7108 and starts saying BOIL. And we know from our science classes that water boils at 100 degrees Celsius. But this is America, so we have to use Fahrenheit which means our code is actually: CODE: 212 -------- Level 31 3.031 -------- For this one, we're going to paint a picture! Start by grabbing the PAINTBRUSH and put it into your inventory. Activate it, then tap the BLACK PAINT CAN. Then tap the wall to slather it with black paint. Then, tap the BLUE PAINT CAN and do the same thing, followed by RED, YELLOW, and finally GREEN. We appear to have painted a picture of SOME GUY, but who is he? Initially, I thought it was Vladimir Makarov from the Modern Warfare series, but then I realized that it is actually Daniel Craig holding a revolver. And can you think of a character he's played recently that deals specifically with handguns and tuxedoes? CODE: 007 (DA-DA-DUN-DA-DA-DUN) -------- Level 32 3.032 -------- This next one is a three-step puzzle. First, grab the partially off-screen SLEDGEHAMMER to the left and use it to break open the ELECTIC BOX (don't do this at home, kids). Then tap the box to light up the BACK ROOM and expose the following clue: 2-8 We'll get back to that. Now rub at the wall above the DOORWAY and off to the right. Some of the paint will come off and expose: 3-4 Finally, tilt your device to the left. A BOX with a very low coefficient of friction will come sliding in with the label: 1-1 By combining these three clues together and letting the first number in each clue represent the second's position, we can compile our code. CODE: 184 -------- Level 33 3.033 -------- For this one, we have five CHIMES with NUMBERS above them. Each chime plays a different NOTE or set of NOTES. There are three relatively high pitched CHIMES (1, 9 and 4) and two low pitched ones (2 and 6). Pay particular attention to the higher pitched ones, because they are the keys to this puzzle. When you tap the CHIME marked 1, it plays two NOTES. The one marked 9 plays three, and the 4 chime plays just one. So, if we order them based on the number of NOTES they play... CODE: 419 -------- Level 34 3.034 -------- Take SLEDGEHAMMER that should still be in your inventory and whack at the BULGE in the wall twice to uncover a SANDBAG. Take the SANDBAG and attach it to the HOOK on the ceiling. This will drain the WATER on the floor and uncover your code. CODE: 924 -------- Level 35 3.035 -------- Tap the REMOTE on the desk and see what's on TV. Nothing but an optical illusion, right? Well, wait for the room to go dark, turn off the sound and flip your device over if you get scared easily, and you'll see a very scary PERSON pop up suddenly, screaming and holding a slip of paper with your code on it.
