So far, this is the only one for li’l wizzerd (as my friend here says it). My faq dives into the game and includes some philosophical insight (cough, cough… quiet boy). Anyhow, hopefully I’ll enlighten you just a little bit and isn’t that the point? Warning! Unfortunately, this Faq does contain spoilers so be forewarned. Without further ado, onto the FAQ! Please set your sense of humour to high and maturity to low before proceeding. Other wise my hard, hard work will be for nothing. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 2. So you want to graduate wizard school this year… ____________________________ Character guide Here is the character guide. There are 8 playable characters I total, one of them (Zark) being the hidden character. As I go through each person, I’ll tell you the character’s moves and a few things to know about them. Note: All moves are with the character facing right Lagen Lagen is a very peculiar character. He appears to be an aeroplane mechanic AND a wizard student. His staff is really a kind of enchanted wrench that he can teleport into the ground to summon lightning. Why he does this is beyond me but I don’t recommend that move as it’s hard to hit your opponent with and usually leads you to having your butt whooped by the computer, immense aggravation and a sudden urge to hurt some thing around you… Ahem. He has good speed, decent base moves and a fairly good set of specials. I think of him as a medium ground of the game and recommend him for people who are just starting the game. Set Moves Hold Right Walk Hold Left Walk Hold Up Jump Hold Down Crouch Right, Right Speed Right Left, Left Speed Left Down + Left Hide Magic Moves L Change magic R Use magic Base Moves A Crescent moon kick Right, A Hard staff swipe Down, A Trip Up, A Flying front kick B Roundhouse kick Right, B Staff swipe Down, B Low staff swipe Up, B Flying staff smack Special Moves Down, Right, A Rocket Launcher Down, Right, B Staff lunge Down, Left, B Staff lightning strike Miru Maru What a big girl! Miru Maru is a mighty large witch who has this terrible dominatrix thing going on with Lagen. But anyway, she’s a mediocre fighter with a few interesting moves and a few specials that could do with some contemplation. I don’t like to use her and I don’t recommend others to. Set Moves Hold Right Walk Hold Left Walk Hold Up Jump Hold Down Crouch Right, Right Speed Right Left, Left Speed Left Down + Left Hide Magic Moves L Change magic R Use magic Base Moves A Purse Smash Right, A Flash kick (shiver…) Down, A Heel kick Up, A Flying roll B Palm strike Right, B Head butt Down, B Slide kick Up, B Purse swipe Special Moves Down, Right, A Mallet slam Down, Right, B Rolling uppercut Down, Left, A Far subterranean fist punch Down, Left, B Near subterranean fist punch Spice Ku Spice Ku looks like a ninja with a small dagger and a serious attitude. In truth he is a pirate with long blond hair. Although he is an excellent fighter and one of my favourites, he does have some weaknesses. Some idio…er, smart-challenged persons think Spice Ku is an Indian because of the costume, the dagger and the name. Just because a guy has spice in his name, and spices came from India, doesn’t make the guy an Indian. Maybe Indian clothes were on sale at Zellers, or maybe he is Indian or maybe… I think I’m just going to be quiet now… Set Moves Hold Right Walk Hold Left Walk Hold Up Jump Hold Down Crouch Right, Right Speed Right Left, Left Speed Left Down + Left Hide Magic Moves L Change magic R Use magic Base Moves A Double palm strike Right, A Spinning back fist Down, A Crouching kick Up, A Flying open hand B Lightning kick Right, B Knee strike Down, B Dagger slash Up, B Jump kick Special Moves Down, Right, A Circular blade slice Down, Right, B Long slice with dagger Note: If you are close to your opponent when you use this move, you’ll switch sides Down, Left, A Flying roundhouse kick Down, Left, B Slingshot with angry cat ammo (Hissssss…) Goritabum Goritabum is another one of my favourites. He is equipped with two “magic” yo-yos and is usually seen with a stoned/confused/spaced out look on his face. I’m of the belief that he is a leprechaun. Others say he’s just a guy who dresses like one. Sometimes, I just can’t tell. Anyway, he’s a great fighter who has a great variety of moves and carries a very good set of specials. I’m favourable to using him and cornering my opponents and repeatedly hitting them with his yo-yos but apparently that’s considered cheap. Oh, well… Set Moves Hold Right Walk Hold Left Walk Hold Up Jump Hold Down Crouch Right, Right Speed Right Left, Left Speed Left Down + Left Hide Magic Moves L Change magic R Use magic Base Moves A Yo-Yo hit Right, A Spinning back kick Down, A Handstand kick Up, A Knee hit B Punch Right, B Low Kick Down, B Crouch kick Up, B Jumping front kick Special Moves Down, Right, A Flaming Yo-Yo uppercut Down, Right, B Morphing mule kick (Literally!) Down, Left, B Ground Yo-Yo fireball Rax Rax is one of those people who are more than they seem. According to my research, Rax is actually a human professor named Pebro. Pebro built Metalong and some how turned himself into a tiger- like cat. Also, along with his professor career, he is also a janitor! How do I know this? He fights with a broom. What kind of student would use a broom? On the other hand, what kind of student would be an aeroplane mechanic…? Any way, Rax is a reliable fighter, although I’ don’t fight with him unless I have to. He has good speed and decent moves which can make him a tough opponent. Set Moves Hold Right Walk Hold Left Walk Hold Up Jump Hold Down Crouch Right, Right Speed Right Left, Left Speed Left Down + Left Hide Magic Moves L Change magic R Use magic Base Moves A Double fist pound Right, A High back kick Down, A Tail weight smash Up, A Jumping claw swipe B Punch Right, B Claw uppercut Down, B Low kick Up, B Kick Special Moves Down, Right, A Elbow, punch combo Down, Right, B Broom tornado Down, Left, B Flying crow with a fish Ruby Ruby is the typical magician. She wears a top hat (comes with violent rabbit that flies out of it), carries a wand (great for those rioting crowds) and for some reason or another, a pet bee. She has this thing going on with Miru Maru which I won’t go into now. Her moves are quite good and her specials are fantastic. She’s a good fighter and is great for people who are specialists. Set Moves Hold Right Walk Hold Left Walk Hold Up Jump Hold Down Crouch Right, Right Speed Right Left, Left Speed Left Down + Left Hide Magic Moves L Change magic R Use magic Base Moves A Spinning back kick Right, A Lunging punch Down, A Slide trip Up, A Jump kick B Wand swipe Right, B High kick Down, B Low wand swipe Up, B Jumping wand swipe Special Moves Down, Right, A Lunge wand hit Down, Right, B Diagonal air kick Down, Left, A Rabbit kick Down, Left, B Poison powder from pet bee Metalong Metalong is a robot that was made by Pebro, a professor who somehow turned himself into Rax (Long story which I don’t know). Although he seems to be having an identity crisis, he’s still a pretty good fighter. Though his flip kick can be cheap, his specials are good and are very useful if you know how to pull them off. One of the games best moves is his electric arm smash. Set Moves Hold Right Walk Hold Left Walk Hold Up Jump Hold Down Crouch Right, Right Speed Right Left, Left Speed Left Down + Left Hide Magic Moves L Change magic R Use magic Base Moves A Flip kick Right, A Uppercut Down, A Boxing glove punch Up, A Stretch kick B Stomp Right, B Punch Down, B Slide kick Up, B Frying pan hit Special Moves Down, Right, A Punching combo Down, Right, B Electric arm smash Down, Left, A Walking bomb Down, Left, B Vegetable shooter Zark Zark is the last person you fight in a one player game and is the hardest. He’s a bionic pirate who is bent on destroying the world. Not only that, his breath smells! He has powerful basic moves and even though he’s a bit slow, his specials make up for it. His Plasma grab and Plasma uppercut are top specials in the game. Also, Zark is the only character in the game to not have magic moves. What he has instead is a powerful flamethrower that can do some serious damage when fully charged. Set Moves Hold Right Walk Hold Left Walk Hold Up Jump Hold Down Crouch Right, Right Speed Right Left, Left Speed Left Down + Left Hide Magic Moves L Charge flamethrower R Fire flamethrower Base Moves A Round punch Right, A Uppercut (round) Down, A Crouching uppercut Up, A Air sit B Punch Right, B Head butt Down, B Low kick (trip) Up, B Smash punch Special Moves Down, Right, A Plasma Grab Down, Right, B Plasma uppercut to kick (air) Down, Left, B Net shot (if caught, character is trampled by partying pirates) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 3. Da Game. ____________________________ Now the menus for this game are pretty simple. Your first choices are Single player, Multi-player, Training, and Options. You can only access Multi-player if you’re linked to another Game Park. Training mode is basically a chance to pound on any of the regular characters while they stand around doing nothing. You and your opponent have unlimited health so the only way to end the game is to exit through the start menu. The option menu is full with a bunch of technical stuff that I just can’t figure out. New comers should ignore it completely. However, there is a insane password menu hidden within... At the beginning of the game, you can choose from seven characters, all of whom seem to be trying to “graduate” wizard school. They seem to think that they can graduate school by fighting each other until they’re black and blue. Each character starts with a set of magic moves or spells that they can use and gain more as the game progresses (Ooooh, look at that big word…). The order of people you fight is randomly generated when you confirm your character selection. Now who you pick is a personal thing but I’ve put some suggestions in the character bios. Your fights consist of two to three rounds (depending on who wins) and if you lose a fight, you get a game over which puts you back at the beginning of the game. You have to beat all of the other characters and then beat Zark, the last boss. He’s tough to beat and if you stay still, he will annihilate you. Once you beat Zark, you’ll see what happens to your character after he graduates wizard school and later on in life. After the credits, you’ll get put you back at the beginning of the game. The only difference is that you can now access Zark as a character. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 4. How to graduate wizard school this year… ____________________________ Strategy for this game is a bit tough to write so what I’m going to do is list the characters, their best moves and notes. But before I get started I have one good piece of advice: Don’t jump! Lagen A Crescent moon kick Right, A Hard staff swipe Down, A Trip B Roundhouse kick Right, B Staff swipe Down, Right, A Rocket Launcher Down, Right, B Staff lunge Down, Left, B Staff lightning strike Notes: A few strong attacks, but nothing that special. Miru Maru A Purse Smash B Palm strike Right, B Head butt Down, B Slide kick Down, Right, A Mallet slam Down, Right, B Rolling uppercut Down, Left, A Far subterranean fist punch Down, Left, B Near subterranean fist punch Notes: Most of this girl’s moves are strong so use them often if possible. Spice Ku A Double palm strike Right, A Spinning back fist B Lightning kick Down, Right, A Circular blade slice Down, Right, B Long slice with dagger Down, Left, A Flying roundhouse kick Down, Left, B Slingshot with angry cat ammo (Hissssss…) Notes: His Long slice with dagger and Flying roundhouse kick are excellent Goritabum A Yo-Yo hit Right, A Spinning back kick B Punch Down, Right, A Flaming Yo-Yo uppercut Down, Right, B Morphing mule kick (Literally!) Down, Left, B Ground Yo-Yo fireball Notes: Though it may seem odd, Goritabums Yo-Yo hit is one of his strongest moves. Rax A Double fist pound Down, A Tail weight smash B Punch Down, Right, A Elbow, punch combo Down, Right, B Broom tornado Down, Left, B Flying crow with a fish Notes: Specials help a lot. Ruby Down, A Slide trip Down, Right, A Lunge wand hit Down, Right, B Diagonal air kick Down, Left, A Rabbit kick Down, Left, B Poison powder from pet bee Notes: Slide trip and specials are what make Ruby strong. Metalong A Flip kick Down, A Boxing glove punch Down, Right, A Punching combo Down, Right, B Electric arm smash Down, Left, A Walking bomb Down, Left, B Vegetable shooter Notes: Flip kick is a great move that is really useful, though somewhat cheap. Zark R Fire flamethrower A Round punch Down, Right, A Plasma Grab Down, Right, B Plasma uppercut to kick (air) Down, Left, B Net shot (if caught, character is trampled by partying pirates) Notes: Plasma Grab and Plasma uppercut are excellent moves that should be used often. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 5. And now, what we've all been waiting for... Hardcore Cheating and how to be cheap! ____________________________ Apparently, now there’s a kind of Gameshark that works for GP32. It’s a lie! Even if it were true, I’d be too lazy to get them anyway... Ahem. Of course, back in mah day we actually had to play the game to win. We didn't have none of these new-fangled Gameshark thingies with their 8 character codes that seem to be all the rage nowadays. New! Apparently there is a cheat menu already in the game under the options menu. However, I haven’t any idea how it works so hopefully my advisor will have some insight in that particular area. And now the cheapness. As in the strategy part of this faq, I’m going to list the characters, their cheapest moves and notes. Lagen Down, A Trip B Roundhouse kick Down, B Low staff swipe Down, Right, A Rocket Launcher Notes: These moves, if used repeatedly in rapid procession are somewhat cheap. Miru Maru A Purse Smash Down, Right, B Rolling uppercut Notes: Miru Maru’s Rolling uppercut is one of the top five cheapest moves in the game. Spice Ku B Lightning kick Down, Right, B Long slice with dagger Notes: Spice Ku has only two cheap moves which are both only cheap if they are used again and again. Goritabum A Yo-Yo hit B Punch Down, Left, B Ground Yo-Yo fireball Notes: Goritabum’s Primary attack, his Yo-Yo hit, can be really cheap if you’re stuck in a corner and you just keep getting bashed. Rax Down, Right, B Broom tornado Notes: Rax’s only cheap move is his Broom tornado which can be a real pain if the guy you’re fighting won’t stop. Ruby Down, A Slide trip Down, Right, B Diagonal air kick Down, Left, A Rabbit kick Notes: And the award for cheapest move goes to… Ruby, for her Slide trip. That’s right folks; you can just keep on using it until your opponent falls to the ground and stops moving. Metalong A Flip kick Down, Right, B Electric arm smash Notes: The flip kick is the cheapest A move in the game. Metalong’s Electric arm smash is a great move, but can be a bit cheap. Zark R Fire flamethrower Down, Right, A Plasma Grab Down, Left, B Net shot (if caught, character is trampled by partying pirates) Notes: Continual usage of any of these three moves can qualify as cheapness as they are so powerful. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 6. And you people PAYED to be in this school?! ____________________________ There are many mysterious things about L’il Wizard that go unanswered, and this is the section for needless filler material, umm, important discussions on those mysteries. First, where is this school? Every scene looks like a different part of the world. I mean, where would you find a temple, a jungle, a flaming, crashed boat, a castle and a mountain village? Do we even know if it’s on our world? Maybe this game takes place on some alien planet where this is all normal and we’re considered aliens. The world may never know… What kind of school would have ONE class containing an assortment of creatures that you would probably find in a zoo? Now I’m not sure, but last time I checked, pirates, leprechauns, magicians, mad professors that turn themselves into cats, and green-haired aeroplane mechanics aren’t in the same class with each other. But then again, times could be changing… Does a band follow the characters around? If not, then where the heck is the music coming from? Another odd point that I stumbled (Okay, tripped and fell flat on my face) upon was while my friend, Deceiving Mad Scientist, was playing as Ruby. If you read the conversations before the fights, you’ll notice that practically every boy is infatuated with her! Plus, Miru Maru and her have this rivalry thing going on with Lagen. Oooooh, that’s one love triangle you don’t want to mess with. Deceiving Mad Scientist points out these oddities: I think Miru Maru had some serious issues with her makeup. I mean, just look at her- she looks like a chipmunk with black hair, red eye shadow, and flamingo cheeks. Who does she think she is? Britney Spears? And what's with that whole evil mastermind look anyway? Speaking of which, where WOULD she get her makeup from anyway? I don't think she can just waltz right into a shop and buy Cover Girl that easily... Where are these kids’ parents? Did they up and decide that they'd rather live in Australia than at some boring wizard school? Of course, if their situation is anything like Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter books, that would not be very funny. Maybe I should just shut up now... ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ 7.
