Introduction ############################################################################### Thank you for choosing to read my FAQ/Walkthrough for Spider-Man 2: The Sinister Six. You might be wondering why I decided to write a guide for an old Game Boy Color game. Well, I was surprised that there was no FAQ for this game (at the current date of 4-03-06), so I decided to write one, as it can be hard to complete, especially on the higher difficulty levels. I hope this guide gives you some assistance in completing this game. ############################################################################### 2. Story ############################################################################### Inside an abandoned clock tower, the Sinister Six - Mysterio, Sandman, Vulture, Scorpion, Kraven, and Dr. Octopus - are having a meeting. Octopus, the leader, tells his associates that they have made to look like fools at the hands of Spider-Man for years now. He decides that the time has come to finish the hero once and for all. Octopus orders his underlings to kidnap his old student, Peter Parker, since he takes pictures of his friend Spider-Man. If the Sinister Six kidnap him, his archaid friend will surely try to rescue him. Octopus laughs that they will weaken Spider-Man one by one and that he will destroy him in the end. It is just another night at the Parker Residance, or so it seems... Sandman and Scorpion break in, demanding to know where Peter is. A frightened Aunt May tells them he's not here, so the two villains decide to kidnap her instead. Peter arrives home to chaos and notices the message ‘Tell bug boy to go to the Coney Island Pier’ on a wall. Although Peter (AKA Spider-Man) knows that this is a trap, he has no choice but do so if he wants to save Aunt May. ############################################################################### 4. Walkthrough ############################################################################## ============================================================================== 5.01 - CONEY ISLAND CARNIVAL ============================================================================== Objectives: ----------- * Unlock sewer gate. * Defeat Mysterio. Go right and climb up the crate. Swing across the level and jump down shortly afterwards. Activate the first switch and head right. Climb up the buildings and activate the second switch. Swing across the level and activate the final switch. Go back a bit and head into the sewers. Since you activated the three switches, you can enter this area. In the sewers, go right and make your way to a dead end. Grab a 1-Up before going to the surface and climbing up the buildings. Swing across the level to find Mysterio. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | BOSS: MYSTERIO | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Although this is your first Boss Battle, it can be hard if you don't know what to do. Your target isn't Mysterio himself; it's the three clones that he creates to attack you with. Fortunately, you only face 1 clone at a time. The clones will fire energy beams towards you. If you're on the floor, climb onto the left side of the platform that Mysterio is standing on. If you're on the platform, jump down. If you do either of the above actions, you should avoid the beams. After the clones attack, make sure you hit them quickly, as they will disappear after a few seconds and repeat their attack pattern. You can only hit a clone once during each attack sequence, so be patient. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ============================================================================== 5.02 - CONEY ISLAND PIER ============================================================================== Objectives: ----------- * Unlock pier gate. * Defeat Sandman. Swing through the level. When you reach a dead end, take the key from an enemy and use it open the pier gate. It's time to battle Sandman. Compared to Level 1, this level is very short. If you swing through the level and make it past all the enemies, you'll be battling Sandman in no time. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | BOSS: SANDMAN | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Sandman will charge towards you and attack with his sand-hammer. Sometimes, he uses a sand-shield to block your attacks. He also tries stretching his hands to hurt you. Sandman is very fast, so I advise hitting him once and jumping over to the other side of the screen. Repeat this strategy to have a better chance of avoiding his attacks. If you keep avoiding Sandman's attacks and hitting him, he'll go down eventually. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ============================================================================== 5.03 - WORLD TRADE CENTRE ============================================================================== Objectives: ----------- * Unlock doors. * Defeat Vulture. Go right and then up. Head left and climb up the vents. Go right and then left. Grab the Armour and go right. Activate the switch to open the door. Go left and climb up. Go right and then up. Head left and climb up. At the top, go right to find a locked door. Go down and activate the switch. Return to the locked door and head right. Go right and climb up. Head left and climb up. Go right and climb up to the top. Go left and climb up. Grab the Armour and climb up the vents to obtain an Extra Life. Go back down and head through the vents. Climb up the eastern side of the dead end, and grab the Armour. Go left to find a locked door. Go down and activate the three switches. Return to the door and follow the path to find Vulture. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | BOSS: VULTURE | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Vulture will fly back and forth 3 times while dropping bombs. If he flies left/right off the screen, go to the far left/right side of the screen to avoid the bombs. When Vulture lands on the floor, this is your chance to hit him, so be ready. He repeats his attack pattern afterwards. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ============================================================================== 5.04 - MADISON SQUARE GARDEN ============================================================================== Objectives: ----------- * Unlock doors. * Defeat Scorpion. Go right and down the vents. Go left and drop down. Go right and then up. Climb up the vents and go right. Go through all the vents. Go left and drop down. Go left and go through the door. Go left and drop down. Go right and then down. Go left and down the vents. Drop down and go right. Go through the door. Go right and through the vents. Go left and go through the door. Go left and drop down. Go right to find Scorpion. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | BOSS: SCORPION | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Scorpion will jump towards you and swing his tail at you. When he is preparing to attack, you can crouch near him to avoid getting hit. You can't hit Scorpion while he is in this position. Sometimes, you can avoid his tail if you're far away from him. After Scorpion attacks, hit him a few times. If you temporarily immobilize him with webbing, he can still attack you with his tail, so watch out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ============================================================================== 5.05 - CENTRAL PARK ============================================================================== Objectives: ----------- * Find enemy. * Defeat Kraven. Like Level 2, this level is very short. If you keep going right and swinging, you should reach the end after a while. There are a lot of enemies, though. They can be a nuisance to get past, so watch out. After going through two areas, Kraven will challenge you to a duel. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | BOSS: KRAVEN | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Kraven will try to hurt you with his spear as he charges towards you. Jump over to the other side of the screen to avoid the attack. When Kraven stops running, make sure you hit him quickly, as he will throw daggers at you if you're not fast enough. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ============================================================================== 5.06 - EMPIRE STATE UNIVERSITY LAB ============================================================================== Objectives: ----------- * Locate keys. * Defeat Doctor Octopus. Go right and swing through the level. Drop down and grab the Armour. Go right and then up. Go down and then right. Grab the Armour and head up. Drop down and go right. Grab the key and climb to the top. Follow the path, and use the key to open the door. Go right and climb to the top. When you are on the rooftops, grab the key nearby. Go back and drop down. Go right and follow the path. Eventually, you'll find a locked door. Use the key to open it. Octopus will battle you. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | FINAL BOSS: DR. OCTOPUS | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Notes and Strategy ------------------ Octopus will try to attack you with his mechanical arms. Since you're fighting him in a small room, it can be difficult to dodge them. Also, you might climb onto the walls by mistake. Do a Flying Kick to hit Octopus, as your other attacks are useless against him. While he is stunned, go to the other side of the screen and repeat this strategy to win the final fight. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Congratulations! You have completed Spider-Man 2: The Sinister Six! Now enjoy the ending. ############################################################################## 6. Hints and Tips ############################################################################## This section lists hints and tips on how to progress through this game. They are useful to know if you want to have an easier time completing this game. *When you are progressing through the game, I advice writing down the passwords that are displayed on the Objectives Screen. This game doesn't have a save function, so you must take note of the passwords to record your progress. *If you think you're stuck, use the Spider-Sense to figure out what direction to go in next. It's useful for completing levels like World Trade Centre and Madison Square Garden. *While you are fighting enemies, watch out for their weapons. Even if you're at a safe distance from them, they can throw bombs or fire bullets at you. *As you progress through the game, you'll encounter many obstacles. These include lasers and security cameras. They'll usually found in World Trade Centre, Madison Square Garden, and Empire State University Lab. If you touch them, you'll get hurt, so be careful. *If you're having trouble defeating enemies, I advise immobilizing them with webbing. While they are temporarily immobilized, you can take them out. ############################################################################## 7.
