Introduction ############################################################################### First of all, thank you for choosing to read my Character Decks Guide for Yu-Gi-Oh! Day of the Duelist: World Championship Tournament 2005. This guide lists the decklists of all the anime duelists in this game along with strategies. If you dueled them before in WCT2004, most of their decks haven't changed much, though they have less junk normal monsters. Aside from Joey and Kaiba, they're listed in the order they appeared in WCT2004. Note1: The Misc. Duelists are excluded, as they don't have expressions and the game doesn't reveal their names. Note2: Many duelists use two different kinds of decks: Standard and Alternative. Note3: Some have a Jinzo in their decks every now and then after beating them a few times. Note4: They use staple cards such as Call of the Haunted. ############################################################################### 2. Hints and Tips ############################################################################### This section lists hints and tips that should give you some assistance in playing this game. *You'll need to grind a bit every now and then to be able to buy more packs and strengthen your deck. If you're having difficulty grinding, I advise dueling Tea Gardner. Tea isn't that hard, as her strategy revolves around maintaining her LP rather than attacking. She gives around 428 DP if you use a simple beatdown deck to inflict 12000+ LP of damage. *Good cards are scattered throughout the Volume packs, so it will take sometime or luck to get them, as there is a large amount of cards in those packs. Fortunately, the same cards can be found in speciality packs such as Light Collection, Dark Collection, Water Collection, Reverse, Field and Equip. Volume 3, 5 and X have the best cards of the Volume packs. *You'll need to tweak your deck every now and then to comply with card restrictions, so I advise using similar cards to the ones that are banned to try to get around them. *I advise having only a few tribute monsters in your deck, as they require tributes to be summoned. I'd recommend having a lot of non-tribute monsters to avoid getting an opening hand with only spells, traps and tribute ones. *If you suspect that your opponent has a Trap Card face-down on the field, you can attack with a weak monster to set it off. That way, your strong monsters will be safe from its effect. Note that this strategy doesn't work against Mirror Force and Torrential Tribute, since the Trap Cards can destroy all your monsters instead of just one. *If you switch all your monsters to defence position, a CPU opponent will always attack as long as their DEF is less than the ATK of his/her monsters. If the opponent has strong defensive monsters on the field, you can trick him/ her into attacking with them and they'll be left in attack position. *When you are constructing your deck, I advise keeping the number of cards close to the minimum of 40. If you have fewer cards in your deck, you'll have a better chance of drawing the card you want. I recommend having a balanced ratio of 2:1 in monsters versus spells and traps to make planning strategies easier. *Cards such as Snatch Steal, Change of Heart and Monster Reborn can be used to steal your opponent's monsters so you can use them as sacrifices to summon your stronger tribute monsters. *If your opponent has strong monsters on the field, I suggest playing Swords of Revealing Light or Messenger of Peace. The former Spell Card can prevent your opponent's monsters from attacking for 3 turns. The latter Spell Card can immobilize all monsters on the field with an ATK of 1,500 or more in exchange for 100 Life Points after every turn. *The Insect Barrier/DNA Surgery combo is a good strategy to defeat duelists. When the latter is activated, select Insect as the Type. Since all face-up Monster Cards are now treated as Insect-Types, the former prevents your opponent's monsters from attacking. *If you suspect your opponent has a Flip Effect Monster face-down on the field, you can use Nobleman of Crossout to destroy the monster and remove it from play. The opponent must then check his/her deck and remove all monsters of the same name from play. *The effect of Book of Moon changes one face-up monster on the field to face-down defence position. The card can be used in 3 ways: 1) Use a Flip Effect again. 2) If you use it when your opponent's monster attacks, you can stop the attack and change the monster to its likely weaker defence position. 3) You can remove an Equip Spell. *The effect of Tsukuyomi also changes one face-up monster on the field to face-down defence position. This card returns to the owner's hand during the End Phase, making it difficult to destroy. It can be used in 2 ways: 1) Use a Flip Effect again. 2) Change a monster to its likely weaker defence position. 3) You can remove an Equip Spell. *Once per turn, you can flip Guardian Sphinx into face-down defence position during your Main Phase. When this card is Flip Summoned, all monsters on your opponent's side of the field are returned to the owner's hand. Guardian Sphinx can be used to remove monsters and Equip Spells. *When Giant Germ/Nimble Momonga is sent to the graveyard as a result of battle, you can Special Summon up to 2 monsters of the same name from your deck to your side of the field. These monsters can be used as tribute fodder to summon strong ones. *If your opponent specialises in using certain monster types, you can use Tribe-Infecting Virus to clear the field of them. Since you must discard 1 card from your hand to do this, I suggest choosing Sinister Serpent, as you can discard it repeatedly to maintain the effect of Tribe-Infecting Virus. *The effect of Magician of Faith allows you to select 1 spell from your graveyard and return it to your hand. This effect can be used to re-play cards like Graceful Charity and Swords of Revealing Light. Mask of Darkness does the same thing for traps such as Mirror Force and Ring of Destruction. *The effect of Rush Recklessly increases 1 monster's ATK by 700 points during the turn this card is activated. The card can be used to make your monsters stronger than your opponent's attack/defence position ones. If you use it when the opponent's monster attacks, you can counterattack to destroy his/her monster as long as your monster is stronger. *The Gravity Bind/A Legendary Ocean combo is a good strategy for defeating opponents. Although Gravity Bind prevents all 4-Star or higher monsters from attacking, A Legendary Ocean downgrades all Water-Attribute monsters by 1 Star, so your 4-Star Water monsters will still be able to attack. *When Witch of the Black Forest is sent from the field to the graveyard, you can select 1 monster with a DEF of 1500 or less in your deck and add it to your hand. This effect can be used to acquire handy monsters like Jinzo and Summoned Skull. Sangan does the same thing for monsters with an ATK of 1500 or less such as D.D. Warrior Lady and Magician of Faith. *The effect of Smashing Ground destroys 1 face-up monster with the highest DEF on your opponent's side of the field. Fissure and Widespread Ruin do the same thing to 1 monster with the lowest and highest ATK, respectively. The cards can be used to remove any monster if your opponent only has one monster on the field, giving you the chance to attack him/her directly. *The effect of Graceful Charity allows you to draw 3 cards from your deck, then discard any 2 from your hand. This effect can be used to discard a monster to the graveyard and then Special Summon it to the field via resurrection spells like Premature Burial and Monster Reborn. *Royal Command and Light of Intervention can negate the activation and effects of all Flip Effect Monsters. This is handy for dealing with problematic monsters like Penguin Soldier and Man-Eater Bug. *4-Star and below monsters can be Normal Summoned without tributing another monster. The top class of these monsters have 1900 ATK. There are monsters with 2000 or greater ATK, but they always have a negative effect. *When Dark Magician of Chaos is Normal or Special Summoned, you can select 1 spell from your graveyard and return it to your hand. If this card destroys a monster by battle, that monster is removed from play instead of going to the graveyard. This card can be used in 2 ways: 1) Re-replay spells like Harpie's Feather Duster and Premature Burial. 2) You can remove monsters (eg. Giant Germ) from play to avoid triggering their effects. *I advise having some monster removal, resurrection and disruptive cards in your deck, as they can fit into nearly any deck theme. Some examples of these cards are listed below. Resurrection: Premature Burial, Monster Reborn, Call of the Haunted Removal: Fissure, Smashing Ground, Widespread Ruin, Exiled Force, D.D. Warrior Lady, Sakuretsu Armor, Mirror Force, Bottomless Trap Hole, Raigeki Break, Trap Hole Disruptive: Compulsory Evacuation Device, Reflect Bounder, Mask of Weakness, Rush Recklessly, Zero Gravity, Nightmare Wheel, Mask of Dispel, Mask of the Accursed, Guardian Sphinx, Blast Sphere, Shadow Spell *When you are placing spells/traps on the field, try to only have 1-2 in your spell/trap zone at a time. That way, if the opponent uses spells like Heavy Storm, Mystical Space Typhoon and Giant Trunade, you won't lose a lot of cards. *It takes a lot of luck or time to pull rare cards from packs, so I recommend inputting their passwords into the Password Machine to obtain them. That way, you should be able to construct a strong deck more quickly and easily. *The effect of Cyber-Stein allows you to Special Summon a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon from your Fusion Deck. If you then equip Megamorph for a 9,000 ATK monster and Fairy Meteor Crush/Big Bang Shot for pierce damage, you have a good chance of doing an OTK. *Most opponents don't use spell/trap removal cards, so using stalling cards such as Gravity Bind can make winning an easy task. *I advise not using fusions or rituals, as they require specific cards to be summoned and can be removed from the field too easily. Exceptions: XYZ fusions and Fusion Monsters summoned via Cyber-Stein's effect. *Have only 2-3 monsters on your field at a time. That way, if you trigger a Torrential Tribute or Mirror Force, you won't lose a lot of monsters. *Whether or not you win a duel can depend on your opening hand or your opponent's. If he/she gets a bad hand or you get a good one, winning should be easier. If the opponent gets a good hand, winning will be harder, as he/she'll probably play a lot of cards to catch you offguard in the first few turns, though he/she might run out of cards to play for a while if he/she uses up a lot of them straight away. *I suggest having a few cards ready such as Seven Tools of the Bandit and Trap Jammer to counter the effects of traps. Also, try using spell/trap destruction cards such as Harpie's Feather Duster, Heavy Storm and Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy them. *Sinister Serpent can be used with cards, such as Raigeki Break and Tribute to the Doomed, to make discard costs practically costless. *If you want to see what cards are in your opponent's hand, I advise using Ceremonial Bell. It works well in decks with stalling cards such as Gravity Bind. *Sasuke Samurai is good for destroying your opponent's face-down Defence Position monsters, especially ones with flip effects. *Ring of Destruction can be used to inflict major LP damage with a high ATK or powered-up monster (eg. Maha Vailo) to win a duel or end it in a draw. A few duelists use the card, so watch out. *High ATK non-tribute monsters with negative effects such as Jirai Gumo and Goblin Attack Force are good defenders if you don't want to attack with them. *You can discard a Skull-Mark Ladybug from your hand to pay a cost for another card (eg. Raigeki Break) and still gain 1,000 LP. *Emergency Provisions can be chained to the activation of your other spells and/or traps such as Poison of the Old Man and Reckless Greed to gain even more LP. *Copycat can be used in 3 ways: 1) Copy an opponent's strongest monster. 2) As it's a level 1 monster, it can attack freely even if Gravity Bind is on the field. 3) Works well with Luminous Spark. *The Thing in the Crater can be used to summon any Pro-Type monster such as Twin-Headed Fire Dragon and Mr. Volcano without needing tributes. *You can use A Hero Emerges to summon mid-high level monsters without tributes or discard a card to the graveyard. *You can discard a Thunder Dragon to add up to 2 monsters of the same name to your hand. Useful for thinning your deck or gathering the fusion materials needed for Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon. ############################################################################### 4. Level 1 Duelists ############################################################################### How to Unlock: All level 1 duelists are available from the start of the game. Difficulty: Normal-Hard Note: Tristan and Yugi are the hardest. =============================================================================== 4.01 - Tea Gardner =============================================================================== +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Standard Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 3x Kiseitai 3x Cure Mermaid 3x Marie the Fallen One 3x Fire Princess 3x The Forgiving Maiden 3x Nimble Momonga 1x Penguin Soldier 1x Hane-Hane 1x Man-Eater Bug Spells: ------- 1x Change of Heart 3x Dian Keto the Cure Master 1x Fusion Sage 3x Polymerization 1x Monster Reborn 1x Graceful Charity 1x Sword of Deep-Seated Traps: ------ 1x Seven Tools of the Bandit 1x Enchanted Javelin 1x Trap Hole 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Numinous Healer 1x Solemn Wishes 1x Magic Jammer 1x Gift of The Mystical Elf 1x Mirror Force Fusion Deck: ------------ 1x St. Joan Tea uses a LP Recovery deck that increases her LP and decrease yours with cards such as Nimble Momonga, Fire Princess and Solemn Wishes. Your best bet is to use Bad Reaction to Simochi to ruin her strategy. You can also use Amphibious Bugroth MK-3 to bypass Tea's monsters and attack her directly to avoid triggering their LP restoration effects. As long as 1 or more copies of Marie the Fallen One exist in Tea's graveyard, she can increase her LP by 200+ during each of her Standby Phases. If Tea has 1 or more copies of Fire Princess on the field, she can also inflict 500+ of damage to your LP at the same time, so watch out. If Tea has a Polymerization in her hand, she can fuse a Marie the Fallen One and The Forgiving Maiden into her strongest monster, the formidable St. Joan! She also has a Fusion Sage, which allows her to take a Poly from her deck and add it to her hand. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Alternative Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 1x Earthbound Spirit 3x Wall of Illusion 3x Giant Soldier of Stone 3x Nimble Momonga 3x Skull-Mark Ladybug 3x Kiseitai 1x Soul Tiger 1x The Reliable Guardian 1x Aqua Madoor 1x Granadora 1x Humanoid Slime 1x Gravekeeper's Guard 1x Battle Footballer 1x Mysterious Puppeteer 1x Spirit of the Harp 1x Flash Assailant 1x The Dragon Dwelling in the Cave 1x Maiden of the Aqua 1x Mystical Elf 1x The Forgiving Maiden 1x Prevent Rat 1x Island Turtle Spells: ------- 1x Card Destruction 1x Pot of Greed 1x Monster Reborn 1x Chorus of Sanctuary 1x Sebek's Blessing Traps: ------ 3x Numinous Healer 3x Enchanted Javelin 2x Solemn Wishes Here, Tea uses a stronger version of her LP Recovery deck with high DEF monsters such as Spirit of the Harp. If that wasn't bad enough, Chorus of Sanctuary increases the DEF of all Defense Position monsters by 500 points. This helps Tea to increase her LP immensely via Solemn Wishes and Sebek's Blessing. Your best bet is to use monster removal cards to clear the field of her monsters. Since tribute monsters are banned in this duel, I recommend using a Warrior Beatdown Deck or Dragon Harpie Deck, as they are two of the strongest decks in the game even without tribute monsters. If you switch all your monsters to defence position, Tea will always attack as long as their DEF is less than the ATK of her monsters. If she has strong defensive monsters on the field, you can trick her into attacking with them and they'll be left in attack position. =============================================================================== 4.02 - Tristan Taylor =============================================================================== +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Standard Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 3x Goblin Attack Force 1x Man-Eater Bug 3x Ancient Brain 3x Red-Eyes B. Dragon 3x Skull Red Bird 3x Tainted Wisdom 3x Faith Bird 1x Hane-Hane 2x Gaia the Fierce Knight 2x Thunder Dragon 1x Penguin Soldier 2x Curse of Dragon 1x Gaia the Dragon Champion Spells: ------- 3x Polymerization 2x Horn of the Unicorn 2x Sword of Deep-Seated 1x Fusion Sage 1x Axe of Despair 1x Pot of Greed 2x Black Pendant 1x Change of Heart 1x Raigeki Traps: ------ 3x Skull Dice 1x Seven Tools of the Bandit 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Trap Hole 1x Mirror Force Fusion Deck: ------------ 1x Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon 1x Meteor B. Dragon 2x Meteor Dragon 1x Skull Knight Tristan's WCT2005 deck is a big improvement over his 04 one. His strategy revolves around using equip spells and fusing monsters to form strong ones like Skull Knight and Meteor B. Dragon. He's one of the most challenging tier 1 opponents in the game, surprisingly enough, as he uses equip spells that can be put back at the top of his deck if they're sent from the field to the graveyard. Fortunately, you can use Eternal Rest to destroy all equipped monsters or use The Emperor's Holiday to negate the effects of equip spells. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Alternative Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 1x Gagagigo 1x Hysteric Fairy 1x Mechanicalchaser 1x Dark Driceratops 1x La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp 1x Vorse Raider 1x Toon Summoned Skull 1x Gemini Elf 1x Terrorking Salmon 1x Harpie's Brother 1x Amphibian Beast 1x Ryu Kokki 1x Granadora 1x 7 Colored Fish 1x Kaiser Glider 1x Luster Dragon 1x Dark Elf 1x Dunames Dark Witch 1x Neo Bug 1x Gearfried the Iron Knight 1x Beast of Talwar 1x Sea Serpent Warrior of Darkness 1x Cave Dragon 1x Luster Dragon #2 1x Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer 1x Blazing Inpachi 1x Dark Blade 1x Great Angus 1x Archfiend Soldier 1x Zombyra the Dark 1x Spear Dragon 1x Cyber-Tech Alligator 1x Goblin Attack Force 1x The Bistro Butcher 1x X-Head Cannon 1x Slate Warrior 1x Giga Gagagigo 1x Giant Oak 1x Jinzo 1x Cyber Harpie 1x Nin-Ken Dog 1x Giant Red Seasnake 1x Mad Dog of Darkness 1x Susa Soldier Tristan now uses a generic beatdown deck. His monsters have 1800 ATK or more. At least you don't have to worry about his equip spells in this duel. =============================================================================== 4.03 - Ryou Bakura =============================================================================== +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Standard Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 3x Dragon Zombie 3x Master Kyonshee 3x Dark Assailant 3x Shadow Ghoul 1x Dokurizo the Grim Reaper 3x Poison Mummy 1x Yaranzo 1x Hane-Hane 3x Maha Vailo 1x Three-Legged Zombies 1x The 13th Grave 3x Ghoul with an Appetite 1x Dokurorider Spells: ------- 1x Pot of Greed 1x Sword of Deep-Seated 1x Malevolent Nuzzler 1x Revival of Dokurorider 1x Horn of the Unicorn 1x Black Pendant Traps: ------ 1x Trap Hole 1x Mirror Force 1x Magic Jammer Bakura uses a Maha Vailo/Equip Spell deck with Zombie-type monsters. He uses most of the same equips as Tristan. You can use Tribe-Infecting Virus to clear the field of Bakura's zombies. The one monster to be wary of is Maha Vailo, as it gains 500 ATK for each equip spell equipped to it (reaching 2800+ ATK if you're unlucky). Bakura always places a Black Pendant face-down in his spell/trap zone rather than keeping it in his hand, so you can play magic/trap destruction cards such as Harpie's Feather Duster and Heavy Storm to destroy it before he gets a chance to use it. Poison Mummy can catch you off guard, as it has 1800 DEF, though its flip effect isn't that bad. Your best bet is to use strong monsters to take Bakura down or just use monster removal cards. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Alternative Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 3x Maha Vailo 3x Skull-Mark Ladybug 3x Skelengel 3x Needle Worm 3x Gemini Elf 3x Dimensional Warrior 1x Man-Eater Bug 3x Banisher of the Light 1x Morphing Jar 1x Sinister Serpent 3x Penguin Soldier Spells: ------- 2x Black Pendant 1x United We Stand 1x Mage Power 1x Monster Reborn 1x Pot of Greed 1x Dark Hole Traps: ------ 3x Trap Hole 3x Negate Attack 3x Enchanted Javelin 1x Mirror Force 1x Seven Tools of the Bandit Here, Bakura uses a deck that is based around disruption, monster removal and depleting your deck of cards with Gemini Elf as an added surprise. It's similar to the deck Yami Bakura used in the Duelist Kingdom arc of the anime. Cards such as Royal Command and Nobleman of Crossout are useful against him. At least you don't have to face his Dark monsters in this duel. =============================================================================== 4.04 - Grandpa Muto =============================================================================== Note: Grandpa uses different but similar Exodia Decks at random. Two of these are listed below. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Sample Deck #1 | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 1x Exodia the Forbidden One 1x Left Arm of the Forbidden One 1x Right Arm of the Forbidden One 1x Left Leg of the Forbidden One 1x Right Leg of the Forbidden One 1x 30,000-Year White Turtle 1x Man-Eater Bug 1x Hane-Hane 2x Penguin Soldier 1x Tenderness 1x Aqua Snake 1x Turtle Tiger 2x Mystic Tomato 2x Yaiba Robo 1x Ancient Brain 1x Flame Dancer 1x Sangan 1x Protector of the Throne 1x Beast of Talwar 1x Binding Chain 1x Blue-Eyes White Dragon 1x Dissolverock Spells: ------- 1x Swords of Revealing Light 1x Graceful Charity 1x Monster Reborn Traps: ------ 2x Seven Tools of the Bandit 3x Trap Hole 1x Call of the Haunted 3x Jar of Greed 2x Negate Attack +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Sample Deck #2 | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 1x Penguin Soldier 1x The Judgement Hand 1x Armored Zombie 3x Mystic Tomato 1x Hane-Hane 1x Exodia the Forbidden One 1x Left Arm of the Forbidden One 1x Right Arm of the Forbidden One 1x Left Leg of the Forbidden One 1x Right Leg of the Forbidden One 3x Sangan 1x Lord of Zemia 1x Spirit of the Books 1x Stuffed Animal 1x Key Mace #2 1x Takhuee 1x Man-Eater Bug 1x Corroding Shark 1x Hibikime 1x Harpie's Brother 1x Dragon Statue 1x The Snake Hair 1x Magical Ghost 1x Komakiriman 1x Mammoth Graveyard 1x Mon Larvas 1x Blue-Eyes White Dragon 1x Trial of Nightmare 1x Beast of Talwar Spells: ------- 1x Upstart Goblin 1x Graceful Charity 1x Monster Reborn Traps: ------ 1x Jar of Greed 1x Trap Hole 1x Seven Tools of the Bandit 1x Call of the Haunted Grandpa uses an Exodia Deck with Blue-Eyes White Dragon as an added surprise. If he holds all 5 Exodia parts in his hand, he wins. He isn't that hard, though, as he has a lot of junk monsters and doesn't have many cards to help get the Exodia pieces into his hand. He does have some stalling and monster removal cards, though. Mystic Tomato is the monster to be wary of. When this card is sent to the graveyard as a result of battle, Grandpa can Special Summon 1 Dark-Attribute monster with an ATK of 1500 or less in attack position from his deck. This effect can be used to acquire handy Dark monsters such as Sangan or another Mystic Tomato, though he often ruins his own strategy by bringing out an Exodia piece. Grandpa has a Blue-Eyes White Dragon, but he likely won't get a chance to summon it. =============================================================================== 4.05 - Joey Wheeler =============================================================================== +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Standard Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 1x Goblin Attack Force 1x Zombyra the Dark 1x Red-Eyes B. Dragon 1x Penguin Soldier 2x Summoned Skull 3x Baby Dragon 3x Spear Dragon 3x Axe Raider 3x Alligator's Sword 3x Time Wizard 1x Man-Eater Bug 1x Hane-Hane 1x Kojikocy 1x Panther Warrior Spells: ------- 1x Graceful Charity 1x Fusion Sage 2x Polymerization 1x Graceful Dice 1x Premature Burial 1x Change of Heart 1x Raigeki Traps: ------ 1x Seven Tools of the Bandit 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Magic Jammer 1x Skull Dice 1x Mirror Force Fusion Deck: ------------ 1x B. Skull Dragon 1x Alligator's Sword Dragon 1x Thousand Dragon Joey uses a beatdown deck with luck-themed cards. Most of his monsters have 1700 ATK or more. Goblin Attack Force, Zombyra the Dark, Spear Dragon and Panther Warrior are Joey's strongest non-tribute monsters, though they each have negative effects. When Goblin Attack Force and Spear Dragon both attack, they are changed to Defence Position at the end of the Battle Phase. Zombyra the Dark cannot attack a player directly and weakens itself with every attack. Panther Warrior can't attack unless one of the player's monsters is offered as a tribute. Be wary of Time Wizard, as it can destroy all your monsters and Joey often calls the coin toss right. Another monster to be ready for is Jinzo, as it can negate all traps on the field and Joey only has to tribute 1 monster to summon it. Like Tristan, Joey uses powerful Fusion Monsters such as Alligator's Sword Dragon and B. Skull Dragon with the former being able to attack you directly and the latter having 3200 ATK! Joey's die roll cards (Graceful Dice and Skull Dice) can either strengthen his monsters or weaken yours. Like Time Wizard's effect, Joey often gets lucky with his rolls, so watch out. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Alternative Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 3x Goblin Attack Force 3x Zombyra the Dark 3x Spear Dragon 3x Giant Oak 3x Luster Dragon #2 3x Vorse Raider 3x Granadora 3x Gemini Elf 3x Archfiend Soldier 3x Spell Canceller 3x Cave Dragon 3x Mad Dog of Darkness 1x Slate Warrior 1x Summoned Skull 1x Jinzo Spells: ------- 1x Card Destruction 1x Dark Hole 1x United We Stand 3x Axe of Despair Traps: ------ 1x Ring of Destruction Joey now focuses his deck fully on beatdown with high ATK monsters such as Vorse Raider and Gemini Elf. He's the first duelist that ignores the Limitation Tournament's restrictions. Your best bet is to use your own strong monsters to take him down or just use monster removal cards. Spell Canceller is a spell-negating counterpart to Jinzo. If Joey manages to summon it, your spells will be useless (traps don't matter, as they're banned in this duel). Although it just has 1800 ATK, he can equip United We Stand and /or Axe of Despair to power SC up. Your best is to use monster removal cards such as Exiled Force and D.D. Warrior Lady to get rid of it. =============================================================================== 4.06 - Yugi Muto =============================================================================== +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Standard Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 1x Sangan 1x Witch of the Black Forest 1x Penguin Soldier 3x Magician of Black Chaos 3x Black Luster Soldier 1x Magician of Faith 1x Gemini Elf 3x Summoned Skull 1x Man-Eater Bug 3x Maha Vailo 1x Hane-Hane 1x Sinister Serpent Spells: ------- 3x Dark Magic Ritual 3x Black Luster Ritual 1x Pot of Greed 1x Raigeki 1x Change of Heart 1x Premature Burial 1x Monster Reborn 1x Snatch Steal 1x Axe of Despair 1x Black Pendant 1x Swords of Revealing Light 1x Graceful Charity Traps: ------ 3x Trap Hole 3x Seven Tools of the Bandit 3x Magic Jammer 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Call of the Haunted Yugi only has one strong non-tribute monster (Gemini Elf), but his effect ones make up for it. Like Bakura, he uses Maha Vailo. Yugi has a good variety of spells and traps, so be ready for them. Be wary of Magician of Black Chaos and Black Luster Soldier, as he can use ritual cards to summon them. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Alternative Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 3x Penguin Soldier 3x Maha Vailo 1x Summoned Skull 1x Jinzo 3x Gemini Elf 1x Sinister Serpent 1x Hane-Hane 1x Man-Eater Bug 3x Luster Dragon #2 3x Mad Dog of Darkness 3x Dark Magician 1x Mystical Elf 3x Archfiend Soldier 3x Vorse Raider 1x Aqua Madoor Spells: ------- 1x Card Destruction 1x Swords of Revealing Light 1x Axe of Despair 1x Graceful Charity 1x Harpie's Feather Duster 1x Dark Hole 1x Heavy Storm 1x Monster Reborn 1x Delinquent Duo 1x Raigeki Traps: ------ 3x Trap Hole 1x Call of the Haunted 1x Magic Cylinder 2x Magic Jammer 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Seven Tools of the Bandit 1x Ring of Destruction 1x Enchanted Javelin Yugi now uses a deck geared more towards beatdown with high ATK monsters such as Archfiend Soldier and Mad Dog of Darkness. Your best bet is to use your own strong non-tribute monsters to defeat him or just use monster removal cards. Delinquent Duo is a game-breaking card. In exchange for just 1,000 LP, Yugi can force you to discard 2 cards from your hand, so watch out. Yugi ignores the tournament's card limitations so he'll use Effect Monsters against you while you have to stick to the rules, but he shouldn't give you too much trouble anyway. ############################################################################### 5. Level 2 Duelists ############################################################################### How to Unlock: All level 2 duelists are by winning the Weekend Tournament 1-4 times. Difficulty: Hard Note: Mako, Mai and Kaiba are the hardest. =============================================================================== 5.01 - Rex Raptor =============================================================================== Monsters: --------- 1x Spirit of the Harp 3x Mad Sword Beast 1x Wood Clown 1x The Statue of Easter Island 3x Crawling Dragon #2 1x Armored Starfish 1x Hane-Hane 1x Dark Bat 2x Swordsman of Landstar 1x Firegrass 1x Man-Eater Bug 1x Wing Egg Elf 3x Two-Headed King Rex 1x Stone Armadiller 1x Ryu-Kishin 1x Hero of the East 1x Cyber-Tech Alligator 1x Snakeyashi 1x Penguin Soldier 1x Holograh Spells: ------- 1x Graceful Charity 1x Change of Heart 1x Card Destruction 1x Monster Reborn 1x Dark Hole 1x Snatch Steal 1x Swords of Revealing Light 1x Polymerization Traps: ------ 1x Trap Hole 1x Seven Tools of the Bandit 1x Torrential Tribute Fusion Deck: ------------ 1x Bracchio-raidus Rex's non-tribute monsters have 1600 ATK or less. Half of them are Dinosaur- Type, so you can use Tribe-Infecting Virus to destroy them. Mad Sword Beast is the monster to be wary of. When it attacks with an ATK that is higher than the DEF of your Defence Position monsters, the difference is subtracted from your LP. It has only 1400 ATK, though, so it should be easy enough to destroy. Rex can fuse a Crawling Dragon #2 and Two-Headed King Rex into the 2200 ATK Bracchio-raidus, though it's not that hard to beat. =============================================================================== 5.02 - Weevil Underwood =============================================================================== Monsters: --------- 3x 4-Starred Ladybug of Doom 8x *Random Normal Monsters* 2x Empress Mantis 3x Needle Worm 1x Hane-Hane 2x Jirai Gumo 2x Penguin Soldier 3x Man-Eater Bug 1x Sangan 1x Witch of the Black Forest Spells: ------- 1x Change of Heart 1x Monster Reborn 1x Graceful Charity 1x Dark Hole 1x Premature Burial 1x Swords of Revealing Light 1x Card Destruction Traps: ------ 3x Trap Hole 1x Torrential Tribute 2x Seven Tools of the Bandit 1x Call of the Haunted Weevil uses a Insect-Type/Card Removal deck. Although he doesn't have a lot of strong monsters, his effect ones make up for it. Weevil's strategy revolves around using his insects to remove your monsters from the field, leaving you open to attack in the process. Jirai Gumo and Empress Mantis are Weevil's strongest monsters. He can use Witch of the Black Forest to get one of them early on. The former is also a non-tribute monster, though it's a double-edged word, as it has a 50% chance of halving his LP with every attack and Weevil often calls the coin toss wrong. It can actually help you if his LP is high. Needle Worm and 4-Starred Ladybug of Doom are the monsters to be aware of. When the former and latter are Flip-Summoned, they discard 5 cards from the top of your deck to the graveyard and destroy all face-up 4-Star monsters on your side of the field, respectively, so be careful. Royal Command and Nobleman of Crossout are useful here. =============================================================================== 5.03 - Mako Tsunami =============================================================================== Monsters: --------- 3x Flying Fish 3x Amphibian Beast 4x Penguin Soldier 3x Giant Red Seasnake 3x Maiden of the Aqua 3x Fenrir 3x 7 Colored Fish 3x Fortress Whale 3x Amphibious Bugroth MK-3 3x Granadora 1x Man-Eater Bug 1x Hane-Hane Spells: ------- 3x Fortress Whale's Oath 3x A Legendary Ocean 1x Pot of Greed 1x Raigeki 1x Change of Heart 1x Graceful Charity 1x Dark Hole Traps: ------ 2x Seven Tools of the Bandit 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Magic Jammer 1x Mirror Force 1x Trap Hole Mako uses A Legendary Ocean/Water-Attribute deck with some high ATK monsters such as Giant Red Seasnake and Granadora. Granadora is a double-edged sword, though, as he gains 1000 LP if it's summoned but it costs him 2000 LP if it's destroyed. A lot of Mako's monsters are strong in their own right and he can play A Legendary Ocean to make them even stronger. In addition, the spell downgrades all Water Monsters in both player's hands and on the field by 1 Star, though if you're using A Legendary Ocean deck yourself, you take advantage of his own field spell as well. Fenrir and Amphibious Bugroth MK-3 are the monsters to be wary of. When the former destroys one of your monsters as a result of battle, you are required to skip your next Draw Phase. As long as A Legendary Ocean or Maiden of the Aqua remains face-up on the field (the cards are treated as Umi), the latter can attack your LP directly. When Penguin Soldier is Flip-Summoned, it can both send your monsters back to your hand. Mako has 4 copies of the card, despite the fact that you can only have 3 copies of a single card in your deck. Be ready. =============================================================================== 5.04 - Mai Valentine =============================================================================== +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Standard Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 2x Harpie's Brother 3x Harpie Lady 2x Blue-Winged Crown 2x Skull Red Bird 2x Harpie's Pet Dragon 3x Harpie Lady Sisters 2x Faith Bird 1x Man-Eater Bug 1x Penguin Soldier 1x Hane-Hane 1x Temple of Skulls 1x United Resistance Spells: ------- 1x Pot of Greed 3x Gust Fan 3x Cyber Shield 1x Premature Burial 2x Rising Air Current 3x Elegant Egotist 1x Raigeki 1x Change of Heart 1x Swords of Revealing Light Traps: ------ 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Negate Attack 1x Trap Hole 1x Magic Jammer 1x Seven Tools of the Bandit 1x Mirror Force Mai uses a Winged Beast-Type/Wind-Attribute deck with Harpies as her centrepiece. You can use Tribe-Infecting Virus to clear the field of her Winged Beasts. Her Wind monsters aren't that strong at first, but like Mako, she can use a field spell (Rising Air Current) along with equip spells to make them much stronger, though if you're using a Wind deck yourself, you can take advantage of her own field spell as well. Harpie Lady Sisters and Harpie's Pet Dragon are the monsters to be wary of. The former can be Special Summoned from her hand or deck via Elegant Egotist. The latter can be a formidable monster, as it is powered up by every Harpie- related card on the field. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Alternative Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 1x Lunar Queen Elzaim 3x D.D. Crazy Beast 3x D.D. Warrior Lady 1x Amazon of the Seas 1x Queen's Double 3x Dimensional Warrior 3x The Bistro Butcher 3x Maha Vailo 3x Lady Assailant of Flames 3x Nimble Momonga 1x Beautiful Headhuntress 3x Spirit of the Harp 1x Goddess with the Third Eye 1x Witch's Apprentice 1x Kanan the Sword Mistress 1x Sonic Maid 1x Hibkime Spells: ------- 1x Banner of Courage Traps: ------ 1x Ring of Destruction 3x Trap Hole Like Bakura, Mai now uses a deck based around disruption, monster removal and stalling. Although a lot of her monsters aren't too strong, she can play Banner of Courage to increase the ATK of all monsters on her side of the field by 200 points. While 200 points may not seem to strengthen monsters much, the Spell Card enables Mai's The Bistro Butcher and Maha Vailo to destroy monsters that are only slightly stronger than them. D.D. Crazy Beast, D.D. Warrior Lady, and Dimensional Warrior are the monsters to be aware of. When the latter two attack or are attacked, they and the opposing monsters are removed from play and cannot be used again during the current duel. If the former one destroys a monster in battle, that monster is removed from play. The effects of Queen's Double and Lady Assailant of Flames can inflict damage to your Life Points. The former can attack your Life Points directly. When the latter is Flip-Summoned, Mai can remove 3 cards from the top of your deck to inflict 800 points of Direct Damage. If you're lucky, she may discard 3 of her best cards, making the duel much easier to win in the process. An Exodia Deck or Burn Deck work well against her. At least you don't have to face her Wind monsters in this duel. =============================================================================== 5.05 - Seto Kaiba =============================================================================== +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Standard Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 1x Hane-Hane 3x Soul of Purity and Light 3x Luster Dragon #2 3x Cyber-Tech Alligator 3x Spear Dragon 2x Magician of Faith 3x Blue-Eyes White Dragon 3x Goblin Attack Force 3x Vorse Raider 3x Archfiend Soldier 2x Cyber-Stein 1x Man-Eater Bug 1x Penguin Soldier 1x Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End 1x Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning Spells: ------- 3x Big Bang Shot 1x Graceful Charity 1x Monster Reborn 1x Mage Power 1x Heavy Storm 1x Change of Heart 1x United We Stand 1x Polymerization 1x Card Destruction Traps: ------ 1x Trap Hole 3x Negate Attack 1x Seven Tools of the Bandit 2x Magic Jammer 1x Call of the Haunted Fusion Deck: ------------ 2x Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon Like in the anime, Kaiba uses a strong beatdown deck with powerful spells/traps as support. Most of his monsters have 1900 ATK or more. Blue-Eyes White Dragon is Kaiba's signature card and is one of the strongest monsters in the game. Unlike Grandpa Muto, he has a lot of high ATK monsters that can be easily tributed to play it, so be ready to face all 3 Blue-Eyes in one duel and, if you’re unlucky, he’ll fuse all 3 to summon his most powerful monster, the Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon! Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning (BLS) and Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End (CED) are monsters that can be Special Summoned by removing 1 Light and 1 Dark monster in the player's graveyard from play. The Envoys boast a huge 3000 ATK and game-ending effects. Since BLS and CED can be summoned at next to no cost, multiple copies can swarm the field and their effects can be used to overwhelm the opponent. BLS has two effects, and they are both very powerful. Its first effect removes 1 monster from play. Its second effect allows it to attack twice if it destroys a monster. CED has a game-breaking effect. By paying 1000 Life Points, all cards in both player's hands and on the field are sent to the graveyard. 300 points of damage is inflicted to the opponent's LP for each card that is sent to the graveyard by this effect. Fortunately, Kaiba never activates BLS' first effect or CED's one, so they're a lot less threatening than they could be. Your best bet is to use Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer/ Bottomless Trap Hole/Jowgen the Spiritualist to prevent him from summoning the Envoys. With Cyber-Stein, Kaiba can Special Summon a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon by paying 5000 LP. On the plus side, the Fusion Monster is not Fusion Summoned in the usual manner. Therefore, if the Fusion Monster is sent to the graveyard, he can't Special Summon it from the graveyard. I advise having a Magic Cylinder ready, as you can use it to inflict Direct Damage equal to Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon's ATK to your opponent's Life Points. Alternatively, you can summon a strong tribute monster to attack Cyber-Stein, taking out Kaiba's remaining LP in the process. Soul of Purity and Light can be a difficult monster to contend with, as it weakens all your monsters' ATK during your Battle Phase and Kaiba can Special Summon it for next to no cost by removing 2 Light monsters from his graveyard. Have a monster removal card ready to destroy it. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Alternative Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 3x Blue-Eyes White Dragon 3x Cyber-Tech Alligator 3x Goblin Attack Force 3x Archfiend Soldier 1x Cyber-Stein 1x Hane-Hane 3x Spear Dragon 3x Luster Dragon #2 3x Vorse Raider 3x Nimble Momonga 3x Giant Germ 1x Jinzo 1x Slate Warrior 3x Mad Dog of Darkness 1x Beast of Talwar Spells: ------- 1x Graceful Charity 1x Dark Hole 1x Card Destruction 3x Big Bang Shot 1x Heavy Storm 1x Polymerization Traps: ------ 3x Negate Attack 3x Trap Hole 1x Torrential Tribute 1x Ring of Destruction 3x Widespread Ruin 3x Enchanted Javelin 1x Call of the Haunted 1x Magic Cylinder 1x Mirror Force Fusion Deck: ------------ 1x Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon Aside from not using the Envoys this time, Kaiba hasn't changed his strategy much. Nimble Momonga and Giant Germ are the monsters to be aware of. When they are sent to the graveyard as a result of battle, Kaiba can take cards of the same names from his deck and Special Summon them to the field. In addition, the former increases Kaiba's LP by 1000 points and the latter decreases your LP by 500. Kaiba can use the above monsters as tribute fodder to summon his stronger ones, so watch out. Like Joey and Yugi, Kaiba ignores the tournament's card limitations, so he'll use spells against you but he still shouldn't be that hard to beat. ############################################################################### 6. Level 3 Duelists ############################################################################### How to Unlock: Aside from Yami Yugi, all level 3 duelists are unlocked by winning the Championship once. Yami Yugi appears randomly once per day by
beating any Misc. Duelist in Shadow World. Difficulty: Very Hard Note: Arkana, Rare Hunter, Marik Ishtar and Yami Yugi are the hardest. =============================================================================== 6.01 - Arkana =============================================================================== Monsters: --------- 3x Vorse Raider 3x Archfiend Soldier 3x Dark Magician 3x Mad Dog of Darkness 3x Luster Dragon #2 3x Gemini Elf Spells: ------- 3x Graceful Charity 3x Monster Reborn 3x Card Destruction 3x Dark Hole 3x Raigeki Traps: ------ 3x Torrential Tribute 3x Trap Hole 3x Ring of Destruction Arkana uses a very strong beatdown deck with Dark Magicians as his centrepiece. His non-tribute monsters all have 1900 ATK and he can easily tribute them to summon his magicians if you don't get rid of them quickly. Your best bet is to use your own strong monsters to take them down or just use any monster removal cards. Gora Turtle also works well in this duel. =============================================================================== 6.02 - Rare Hunter =============================================================================== Monsters: --------- 1x Exodia the Forbidden One 3x Left Arm of the Forbidden One 3x Right Arm of the Forbidden One 3x Left Leg of the Forbidden One 3x Right Leg of the Forbidden One 3x Witch of the Black Forest 3x Sangan Spells: ------- 3x Swords of Revealing Light 3x Graceful Charity 3x Pot of Greed 3x Dark Hole 3x Upstart Goblin Traps: ------ 3x Jar of Greed 3x Mirror Force Quite a change from Grandpa Muto's mediocre Exodia deck. Rare Hunter's deck is based on the one he uses in the anime. He uses 3 copies of each Exodia card except the head. His other cards either stall/destroy your monsters or help get the Exodia pieces into his hand. Unlike Grandpa, he relies solely on Exodia for victory. If he gets a good opening hand, he has a great chance of winning in just 2 turns or even on his 1st turn, especially if he goes first. Imperial Order can negate the effects of Rare Hunter's spells, while Jinzo can do the same to his traps. He never summons his Exodia parts to the field, so the cards he Sets face-down are always Witch of the Black Forest and Sangan. You can use a Discard Deck to ruin his strategy. If the head is sent to the graveyard, he won't be able to summon Exodia without it, making all his other pieces useless. If you use multiple copies of Confiscation, The Forceful Sentry and/or Delinquent Duo at the same time, Rare Hunter will be left with 0 cards in his hand. As long as you inflict damage with Yata-Garasu each turn, he will be unable to draw new cards and probably won't be able to do anything for the remainder of the duel. Time Seal is a good alternative to Yata-Garasu. Your best bet is to use Rare Hunter's strategy. While he places monsters and traps on the field, I advise using the time to gather your own Exodia pieces. Most of the time, you'll be able to summon Exodia before he does. =============================================================================== 6.03 - Umbra & Lumis =============================================================================== Monsters: --------- 2x Grand Tiki Elder 1x Slate Warrior 3x Summoned Skull 2x Masked Sorcerer 3x Vorse Raider 2x Magician of Faith 3x The Masked Beast 2x Mask of Darkness 1x *Random Normal Monsters* Spells: ------- 2x Curse of the Masked Beast 3x Premature Burial 3x Monster Reborn 2x Raigeki 2x Dark Hole 3x Mask of Brutality Traps: ------ 1x Magic Cylinder 2x Mask of Weakness 1x Mirror Force 2x Ring of Destruction Umbra & Lumis have a mask-themed beatdown deck with powerful spells/traps as support. Their non-tribute monsters have 1900 ATK or less. Half of their monsters are Fiend-Type, so you can use Exile of the Wicked/Tribe-Infecting Virus to clear the field of them. =============================================================================== 6.04 - Strings =============================================================================== Monsters: --------- 3x Spear Dragon 3x Humanoid Slime 3x Summoned Skull 3x Magician of Faith 3x Slate Warrior Spells: ------- 3x Monster Reborn 3x Premature Burial 3x United We Stand 3x Raigeki 3x Dark Hole Traps: ------ 3x Call of the Haunted 3x Magic Cylinder 3x Skull Dice 3x Mirror Force 3x Ring of Destruction Strings uses a beatdown deck with powerful spells/traps as support. Half of his monsters are Fiend-Type, so you can use Exile of the Wicked/Tribe-Infecting Virus to clear the field of them. =============================================================================== 6.05 - Odion =============================================================================== Monsters: --------- 3x Spear Dragon 3x Mask of Darkness 3x Morphing Jar 3x Man-Eater Bug 3x Summoned Skull Spells: ------- 3x Monster Reborn 3x Raigeki 3x Dark Hole Traps: ------ 3x Torrential Tribute 3x Fairy Box 3x Magic Jammer 3x Call of the Haunted 3x Mirror Force 3x Negate Attack 3x Ring of Destruction 3x Trap Hole 3x Enchanted Javelin 3x Magic Cylinder Like in the anime, Odion uses a deck based on the theme of Traps. I advise using Jinzo/Royal Decree to negate the effects of all traps. Mask of Darkness is the monster to be wary of. Its effect allows Odion to select 1 trap from his graveyard and return it to his hand. =============================================================================== 6.06 - Marik Ishtar =============================================================================== Monsters: --------- 3x Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End 3x Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning 3x Banisher of the Light 3x Summoned Skull Spells: ------- 3x Card Destruction 3x Raigeki 3x United We Stand 3x Mage Power 3x Graceful Charity 3x Dark Hole 3x Upstart Goblin Traps: ------ 3x Torrential Tribute 3x Mirror Force Marik has a One Turn Kill deck. His strategy revolves around discarding a lot of his monsters in order to summon the Envoys. Summoned Skull and Banisher of Light can be difficult to get rid of. I advise using a Discard Deck to disrupt Marik's strategy. Other than the Envoys, watch out for his Equip Spells, which can increase the ATK power of his monsters. =============================================================================== 6.07 - Yami Bakura =============================================================================== Monsters: --------- 3x Spear Dragon 3x Maha Vailo 3x Blast Sphere 3x Airknight Parshath 3x Dark Driceratops Spells: ------- 3x Big Bang Shot 3x United We Stand 3x Mage Power 3x Monster Reborn 3x Raigeki 3x Pot of Greed 3x Graceful Charity 2x Shinato's Ark Traps: ------ 3x Mirror Force 3x Magic Cylinder 3x Ring of Destruction Yami Bakura uses a strong beatdown deck with powerful spells/traps as support. It's a much stronger version of his good self's deck. Oddly enough, Yami Bakura has 2 copies of Shinato's Ark, but Shinato isn't in his deck for some reason (presumably due to Konami forgetting to add it). Airknight Parshath, Spear Dragon, and Dark Driceratops are the monsters to be aware of. If their ATK is greater than the DEF of your Defence Position monster, the difference is subtracted from your Life Points. In addition, when Airknight Parshath inflicts Battle Damage to your LP, Yami Bakura can draw 1 card from his deck. Blast Sphere is the monster to be wary of. When you attack this monster in face-down Defense Position, it is equipped to the attacking monster (damage is not calculated). The equipped monster and Blast Sphere are destroyed during your next Standby Phase. You then receive Direct Damage equal to the equipped monster's ATK. If you suspect Yami Bakura has a Blast Sphere face-down on the field, you can use Stop Defense/Book of Taiyou to flip the monster into face-up attack position without triggering its effect. =============================================================================== 6.08 - Yami Yugi =============================================================================== +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Battle City Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 2x Summoned Skull 1x Magician of Black Chaos 3x Dunames Dark Witch 1x Cyber Jar 3x Soul of Purity and Light 1x Slate Warrior 1x Dark Magician Girl 3x Dark Magician 9x *Random Normal Monsters* Spells: ------- 1x Heavy Storm 1x Dark Hole 1x Graceful Charity 1x Card Destruction 1x Swords of Revealing Light 1x Dark Magic Ritual 1x Snatch Steal 1x Harpie's Feather Duster 1x Premature Burial Traps: ------ 1x Torrential Tribute 2x Seven Tools of the Bandit 1x Fairy Box 1x Call of the Haunted 1x Magic Cylinder 2x Magic Jammer Yami Yugi has based his deck on two themes: Beatdown and Dark Magician. His strongest non-tribute monsters are Slate Warrior, Dunames Dark Witch and 7 Colored Fish with Slate Warrior being able to weaken one of your monsters if it's destroyed. Cyber Jar is a game-breaking card. If the monster is Flip-Summoned, it destroys all monsters on the field. Both players then pick up 5 cards from the top of their respective Decks and show the cards to each other. Finally, any monsters of 4-Star or lower among them on the field are Special Summoned in face-up Attack Position or face-up Defense Position. The rest of the cards picked up are placed in the players' hands. Watch out for Cyber Jar, as Yami Yugi can use it to turn the tide in his favour. Like Kaiba, Yami Yugi uses Soul of Purity and Light, but the strategy's no different. Fairy Box is the one card to be wary of, as it has a 50% chance of reducing your monster's ATK to 0. The trap can catch you off guard and cause major damage, especially if Yami Yugi's monsters counterattack and destroy yours. Fortunately, he often calls the coin toss wrong. Your best bet is to use a magic/trap destruction card such as Harpie's Feather Duster or Heavy Storm to destroy it or just pass some turns until he stops paying LP to keep it on the field. Yami Yugi has a few spell/trap destruction cards, but they shouldn't give you too much trouble. +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ | Shadow World Deck | +~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ Monsters: --------- 2x Summoned Skull 1x Magician of Black Chaos 3x Soul of Purity and Light 1x Jinzo 3x Dunames Dark Witch 3x Dark Magician 1x Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End 1x Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning 1x Cyber Jar 1x Dark Magician Girl 3x Slate Warrior Spells: ------- 2x Monster Reborn 1x Premature Burial 1x Harpie's Feather Duster 2x Change of Heart 1x Dark Magic Ritual 1x Swords of Revealing Light 1x Dark Hole 1x Raigeki 1x Pot of Greed 1x Card Destruction 1x Graceful Charity 1x Heavy Storm 1x Snatch Steal Traps: ------ 1x Magic Jammer 1x Fairy Box 2x Seven Tools of the Bandit 1x Mirror Force 1x Magic Cylinder 1x Call of the Haunted Yami Yugi's Shadow World deck is a much stronger version of his Battle City one with some of the most powerful monsters in the game. No junk monsters this time. If you thought he was tough before, just try him now. Like Kaiba and Marik, he uses the Envoys, but the strategy's no different. ############################################################################### 7.
