Final Words _______________________________________________________________________________ Chapter I. Explanation In the game of Boktai: The Sun Is In Your Hand, the main character's main weapon is the legendary Gun Del Sol, inherited from his father. The weapon is a gun that uses sunlight/solar energy as ammunition. It is also extremely customizable. There are four different types of Gun Part: the lens, the frame, the battery, and the grenade. The lens changes the type of elemental attack the weapon uses, for example: Flame and Frost; lenses level up when a certain amount of enemies are killed while it has been attached. The frame changes the type of discharge the weapon launches, like a shot or spray. The battery changes the amount of ammunition the weapon can carry and launch without charging the weapon with actual sunlight. The grenade is the type of subweapon used to carry out a special effect, or dish out some extra heavy damage. _______________________________________________________________________________ Chapter II. Gun Lenses ***Note: The lenses grow more powerful and the spray (Knight/Crusader/Dragoon) becomes wider as the lens goes up, except for the Star Lens. The Star Lens's level increases allow for more sunlight to be collected for the Solar Station. The Luna Lens also gains a special ability on level III.*** Sol Lens: Game Description: "Lens of the Sun. Purifies Undead." Properties: This lens does more damage than any other lens agains normal boks. Element: Sun Found: You start out with it Shot/Spray Color: Yellow Luna Lens: Game Description: "Lens of the Moon. Uses no energy but..." Properties: This lens uses no energy, but does no damage. It can push enemies, and stuns on level three. On level three, the description changes from "but" to "and." Element: Moon Found: In Bloodrust Mansion, in the first screen in a cutscene Shot/Spray Color: Pale Grey Flame Lens: Game Description: "Fire lens. Melts away icy enemies." Properties: This lens does heavy damage against chillboks and ice golems, and sets mummies on fire, but does nearly no damage against burnboks. This lens destroys wooden blocks and ice blocks. Element: Fire Found: In Firetop Mountain, after defeating Muspell in the Pile Driver Shot/Spray Color: Red Frost Lens: Game Description: "Ice lens. Extinguishes fiery enemies." Properties: This lens does heavy damage against burnboks, but nearly none against chillboks and ice golems. This lens destroys fireballs and lavapits. Element: Ice Found: In Permafrost, after defeating Garmr in the Pile Driver Shot/Spray Color: Blue Cloud Lens: Game Description: "Wind lens. Can destroy blocks." Properties: This lens makes Cockatrices glow, which means extra damage. This lens also does extra damage against golems, but less against boks. This lens destroys all blocks. Element: Wind Found: In Dark Castle, right behind the stairs, near where you first enter Shot/Spray Color: Grey-like Purple Earth Lens: Game Description: "Lens of the Earth. Heals Plants." Properties: This makes golems have splotches of green on them, which means more damage. This lens grows solar plant ramps. Element: Earth Found: In a "TRAP!!!" battle in Sol City Shot/Spray Color: Green Dark Lens: Game Description: "Lens of Darkness. Dark Gun parts." Properties: This does extreme damage against all enemies, except normal boks and Steps which are unaffected by it. This lens can only be used with the Chaos Battery and Phantom Frame. Element: Darkness Found: Beat the game once Shot/Spray Color: Red-like Black Star Lens: Game Description: "Stores energy in the Solar Station." Properties: This lens greatly increases the rate of sols the Solar Station collects. It has no shot or spray. Element: N/A Found: In the "TRAP!!!" battle at the end of Gate of the Dead Shot/Spray Color: N/A _______________________________________________________________________________ Chapter III: Gun Frames ***Note: The stun grade represents how many shots it takes to stun an enemy in the front, but if the stun grade is too low (for example: the Crusader's D Stun against a Red Bok), the enemy will simply turn around and discover you. Be cautious when using underpowered weapons.*** Fighter: Attack: - / Stun: E Found: You start out with it Type: N/A (This weapon is part of the Multi-Shot type, but it doesn't fire a spray) Knight: Attack: E / Stun: E Found: Near a stairs in Fog Castle Type: Multi-Shot, fires shot and spray Crusader: Attack: C / Stun: D Found: Near the bottom of the large elevator in Remaining Tower Type: Multi-Shot, fires shot and spray Dragoon: Attack: A / Stun: C Found: In Azure Sky Tower, for having the Sol Emblem Type: Multi-Shot, fires shot and spray Fencer: Attack: C / Stun: - Found: Near the large stairs at the beginning of Deserted Arsenal Type: Sword-Spray, fires a lightsaber-like spray Swordsman: Attack: B / Stun: - Found: In an underground room in Forgotten Tomb Type: Sword-Spray, fires a lightsaber-like spray Swordmaster: Attack: A / Stun: - Found: In a "Solar Path" guarded treasure room in Water Demon's Cage Type: Sword-Spray, fires a lightsaber-like spray Samurai: Attack: S / Stun: - Found: In Azure Sky Tower, for having the Flame Emblem Type: Sword-Spray, fires a lightsaber-like spray Axel: Attack: D / Stun: - Found: At the end of the eastern path out of the largest room in the Small Cave Type: Rotating Spray, fires a wide circular-spray Vortex: Attack: C / Stun: - Found: In a small room near a lot of Steps in Suffering House Type: Rotating Spray, fires a wide circular-spray Tornado: Attack: B / Stun: - Found: At the end of the western path out of the first room in Valley of Ice Type: Rotating Spray, fires a wide circular-spray Tempest: Attack: A / Stun: - Found: In Azure Sky Tower, for having the Cloud Emblem Type: Rotating Spray, fires a wide circular-spray Spear: Attack: B / Stun: C Found: In a small room outside of a hall-like area with two clay golems Type: Powerful Shot, fires a powerful shot in a wide spread Lance: Attack: A / Stun: B Found: By solving a skylight puzzle in Crumbling Mine Type: Powerful Shot, fires a powerful shot in a wide spread Javelin: Attack: S / Stun: A Found: In the room after the "TRAP!!!" battle in the Abyss Type: Powerful Shot, fires a powerful shot in a wide spread Phalanx: Attack: S / Stun: S Found: In Azure Sky Tower, for having the Earth Emblem Type: Powerful Shot, fires a powerful shot in a wide spread Knife: Attack: D / Stun: E Found: In an underground room in Ruined Cemetary Type: Rapid Fire, fires shots in three-shot bursts Dagger: Attack: C / Stun: E Found: Behind some fireballs in Scar of the Land Type: Rapid Fire, fires shots in three-shot bursts Gradius: Attack: B / Stun: D Found: In a small room with three Red Ghouls in Fallen Devil Castle Type: Rapid Fire, fires shots in three-shot bursts Calamity: Attack: A / Stun: D Found: In Azure Sky Tower, for having the Frost Emblem Type: Rapid Fire, fires shots in three-shot bursts Juggler: Attack: C / Stun: C Found: After a weight-switch puzzle in Fire Dragon's Grave Type: Special-Type, fires bouncing shots Wizard: Attack: B / Stun: D Found: For getting 1000 Link Battle Points Type: Special-Type, fires three shots in a spread Stalker: Attack: C / Stun: C Found: In Azure Sky Tower, for having the Dark Emblem Type: Special-Type, fires homing shots Beatmania: Attack: E / Stun: E Found: In a room in Catacombs Type: Special-Type, fires a shot that makes a sound if it hits a wall Guardian: Attack: B / Stun: - Found: In Azure Sky Tower, for defeating the Silvery White Knight Type: Special-Type, fires a sword-spray shaped shot that changes into a wide spray if the B button is pressed again before the shot has moved out of range Phantom: Attack: S / Stun: S Found: Beat the game twice Type: Special-Type, fires shot and spray, can only be used with Dark Lens and Chaos Battery _______________________________________________________________________________ Chapter IV: Gun Batteries Single: Capacity: One Tank Found: You start out with it Double: Capacity: Two Tanks Found: You start out with it on Easy, found in the block puzzle in Bloodrust Mansion in the other difficulties Triple: Capacity: Three Tanks Found: After a block puzzle in Stench Forest Quad: Capacity: Four Tanks Found: In a room with a lot of pitfalls in Sol City Quint: Capacity: Five Tanks Found: Above a stairs after the dark seals in Dark Castle Chaos: Capacity: Five Tanks Found: Beat the game with a good rank and the Pink Solar Tree Special Note: The Chaos can only be used with the Dark Lens and Phantom Frame Astro: Capacity: Uses energy from the Solar Station Found: By looking at the Solar Tree at night with the Star Card Infinite: Capacity: Infinite Found: Beat the game with S Rank on Hard with the Pink Solar Tree, but I haven't done this yet... ***Minor Note: I have beaten the game on Hard with the S Rank and Pink Solar Tree. Unfortunately, I did not get the Infinite Battery. I believe this is because either the method is not correct, or that the Continue I used in Sol City cost me my prize. Any more info on this subject is appreciated.*** ***Big Note: In my experience, and many other's, the Pink Solar Tree is obtained by collecting 1500 Sols (my theory is 1400-1700). Sols are combination of energy received from the sun to the gun (not by pressing A), and energy naturally collected by the Solar Station/Solar Tree (also part of my theory, the Solar Tree collects energy like the Solar Stations from the sun, but this energy can't be accessed). This is my theory, and it has yet been proven wrong.*** _______________________________________________________________________________ Chapter V: Gun Grenades No Grenade: Effect: Disables the grenade system Bomb: Effect: Does heavy fire damage; fires over walls one block high Pineapple: Effect: Creates a powerful solar explosion, depending on the ammount of sunlight collected; fires over walls one block high Special Note: The Pineapple Grenade is found by planting a Revivafruit with a Bad Pumpkin Rising Sun: Effect: Creates an artificial four blocks of sunlight for a short period of time; fires into the air Flash: Effect: Stuns all enemies in the area (three stars above their head); fires into the air Scan: Effect: Reveals all hidden objects for a short period of time; fires into the air Change: Effect: Changes all Klorofolun in the area into solar bugs; fires into the air Nightmare: Effect: Does darkness damage; fires over walls one block high _______________________________________________________________________________ Chapter VI: Comments/Contact If you wish to comment on this FAQ, or simply donate information, please e-mail me at "Geoffnola@yahoo.com" and title the e-mail "Boktai FAQ."
