(11/10/02) ****************************************************************** 3) ~ BOSS BATTLES ~ ****************************************************************** ------------------------------------------------------------------ VEGETABLE VALLEY: Whispy Woods ------------------------------------------------------------------ RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Spark/Freeze/Needle DIFFICULTY: Really Easy WHAT TO DO: Sure, he looks better now, but he's still really easy. Sit under him and hold A. He can't move, so he'll die rather quickly. If you want to play it the long way, suck up his apples and send them back at his face. Won't take that long. ALTERNATE STRATEGY: I don't mean to be negative in anyway but I've found Sword to be effective against The Wispy Woods. (sent in by Chaoken@cs.com!) METAKNIGHT DIFFICULTY: Really Easy AS METAKNIGHT: Sit next to him and use the normal attack. He should be gone before the first apple even appears. ------------------------------------------------------------------ ICE CREAM ISLAND: Paint Roller ------------------------------------------------------------------ RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Spark/Freeze/Needle DIFFICULTY: Easy WHAT TO DO: Sit in the middle and use Spark/Freeze/Needle. You'll be protected from his attacks and he'll jump right over you. You can also freeze his minions and send them back at him if you use Freeze. If you want to, send your ability at him and copy a hat when he draws one. It'll give you 3 Mike's. They will lay waste to him quickly. METAKNIGHT DIFFICULTY: Easy-Medium AS METAKNIGHT: Follow him around and use your normal attack, or if you want a tad extra damage, use the dash strike while Paint Roller is at the lower two easels. Be careful about getting too attack-happy, as you move forward slightly with every sword strike and cannot cancel them out; if Paint Roller is finished with his sketch-summon and you're still attacking, chances are he'll run you over. MISC. INFO: Abilities from drawings are as follows: - Bomb = Crash - Cloud = Spark - Car = Wheel - Baseball = Ball - Parasol = Parasol (Naturally) - Mike (aka hat) = Mic (Sent in by Wildrows!) ------------------------------------------------------------------ BUTTER BUILDING: Mr. Shine & Mr. Bright ------------------------------------------------------------------ RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Fireball/Wheel/Tornado DIFFICULTY: Middle WHAT TO DO: Keep ramming them with your ability. Tornado can multi-hit, but be careful not to stop spinning inside one of them. Like before, you can inhale their stars that they make when they are up in the sky to either get Cutter (From Mr. Shine, the moon) or Fire (From Mr. Bright, the sun). Fire's also pretty good because it multi-hits, but be careful that they don't ram you while you're burning them. METAKNIGHT DIFFICULTY: Easy-Medium AS METAKNIGHT: Use the normal attack until they die. As always, make sure you don't smash into them while doing so. Also mind the stars Mr. Shine will toss at you while he's in the sky; MetaKnight has no spinjump like Kirby, nor is his slash as fast, so it will be a bit hard to avoid them. MISC. INFO: If you can manage to inhale both the stars from Mr.Bright's little sun beam thingie, you'll get a Mix. Mixs have predetermaned Abilities that you can get if you leave them go by themselves, in the case of Mr.Bright's stars, you'll get the Wheel ability. Also, it seems you can choose who you want to face first by turning your back to them at the begining of the battle, example: Face Mr.Bright while the Boss Meter is filling up, and you'll start off fighting Mr.Shine, and vice versa. (Sent in by Wildrows!) ------------------------------------------------------------------ GRAPE GARDEN: Kracko ------------------------------------------------------------------ RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Hi-Jump/Tornado DIFFICULTY: Easy WHAT TO DO: You'll most likely have Hi-Jump due to the part where you have to keep jumping upward at the beginning to actually get to the boss area. But if you manage to get up there with tornado, it's better. You can't hurt Kracko until he turns into a cloud, so get up there as soon as possible. The Tornado can multi-hit him, so keep that in mind. Just keep jumping into him with either one. If you want to do it the hard way, inhale the caped dudes and send them his way when he comes near the ground. METAKNIGHT DIFFICULTY: Medium AS METAKNIGHT: Because MetaKnight's flying is much faster than Kirby's, you won't have any trouble in the race to the top, just make sure you don't run into any of the Jumping Dans on the way. The actual fight with Kracko is a bit harder, however, because you won't have Hi-Jump or Tornado to go straight through him. Your best bet is to jump up next to him and use the normal attack, or the upward strike attack if you feel brave enough. ------------------------------------------------------------------ YOGURT YARD: Heavy Mole ------------------------------------------------------------------ RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Hammer/Parasol/Ball DIFFICULTY: Medium WHAT TO DO: Much easier than in the orginal since you have more room. Keep jumping at him and hitting him with the Hammer or Parasol. A trick to parasol is to jump and then float down behind him, causing the parasol to multi-hit him. Ball also works, as you can just keep jumping though him. If you don't have an ability, send the missles he sends at you back at him. Don't copy the red ones; those will put you to sleep. METAKNIGHT DIFFICULTY: Medium AS METAKNIGHT: You won't have much difficulty here aside from possibly falling through the floor or getting trapped behind it, because MetaKnight has such a large attack range. Attack as though you would with Hammer: jump and hit. MISC. INFO: He shoots two types of rocket missiles from his back, you get two different abilities from each one, the Gold Coloured ones give you the Hammer Ability, while the Red Ones give the Sleep Ability. Also, with the Hammer, you can break the ground around you. (Sent in by Wildrows!) ------------------------------------------------------------------ ORANGE OCEAN: Meta Knight ------------------------------------------------------------------ RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Sword. Your only choice. DIFFICULTY: Medium WHAT TO DO: Grab the sword. He moves much slower than in the NES version. Just keep pounding away at him with sword. He won't take that long. If he jumps, be ready to avoid his downward slash attack. He has more moves than you do, so keep that in mind. METAKNIGHT DIFFICULTY: Easy AS METAKNIGHT: Yeah, this is really strange, but whatever. Since you ARE MetaKnight, you are both rather evenly matched. However, the 'enemy' MetaKnight apparently doesn't use the dash attack, so use that to your advantage. NEVER use the falling attack against him, as he can pull off the upwards stab attack much faster than you can, and 90% of the time you'll end up getting jabbed in the rear. Much easier than with Kirby, though, because of your insane range and lack of the spinjump (meaning you don't have to get as close while attacking in the air). ------------------------------------------------------------------ RAINBOW RESORT: King DeDeDe ------------------------------------------------------------------ RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Laser/Throw/Tornado DIFFICULTY: Hard WHAT TO DO: He's much larger and faster now. Stay away from him as much as possible. Use Laser to keep him at bay, or use throw to deal good damage to him with the stars he smashes up. Keep in mind with throw, if he uses his inflate, you have to avoid him; you can't knock him out of the sky. Without an ability, beat him the old-fashoned way. Suck in the stars he smashes up and send them back at him. Tornado also works well, as long as he isn't inhaling, you can ram into him 1-2 times. ALTERNATE STRATEGIES: Use Hi-Jump on him when he gets close to you, it'll do a lot of damage. When your in the air move to the other side of the screen so you can prepare to hit him again. Repeat process till he's dead. (sent in by Protoman74!) Get hi-jump in level 3, run towards him and tackle him when your close. By hitting him this way he will stop his current attack. You can defeat him around 30 seconds. (sent in by z01!) You can also defeat King DeDeDe in Ball mode rather quickly. (sent in by Werewolf8989@cs.com!) METAKNIGHT DIFFICULTY: Medium AS METAKNIGHT: Quite a bit easier than with Kirby. There is no attack you can't really use against him, as whenever you hit DeDeDe he'll get knocked back (this makes it possible to use the falling attack and its ability to cause massive damage in a hurry). You can attack him while he's inhaling now, as well; just fly above him and drop. This won't be too hard if you don't get close enough to be hit. ------------------------------------------------------------------ FOUNTAIN OF DREAM: Nightmare 1 ------------------------------------------------------------------ RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Star Rod. Can't choose. DIFFICULTY: Hard, but not as much as it used to be. WHAT TO DO: He's much easier this time. Keep mashing the attack button to send stars in his direction. Avoid the stars he sends at you and continue to smash away at his health. Sending stars at him does more damage than close- range combat; keep this in mind. If time runs out, you'll meet the ground rather forcefully and die, so hurry. ------------------------------------------------------------------ MOON: Nightmare 2 ------------------------------------------------------------------ RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Star Rod. DIFFICULTY: Harder. WHAT TO DO: He's much larger than he used to be. If he has his cape around him you can't hurt him. His weak point is the wavy white static stuff under his cape. It's easier to jump into him, since the star rod automatically spins as long as you're jumping, but this does less damage than stars. He has a few attacks. He'll send stars from one side of the screen, from the middle of the screen (just jump into him or send a star his way), he'll do a charge attack (he leaves his back side open while charging; ram into him from behind), or he'll spin downward upside-down (jump and send a star into his large weak point). After a while he'll die. ALTERNATE STRATEGY: What i do is I attack when he charges then sends a barrage of stars in your direction. I get under his attack then hit him with a star. Another less effective would be to attack when he sends stars when he's in the middle of the screen. I tried this and for they work for me. (sent in by Chaoken@cs.com!) The easiest way to beat nightmare 2 is to stay in one corner. After he flies to the other side, he'll either do some tornado looking thing under his cape and you hit that, or he'll hide the tornado under his cape then attack you with stars that shoot out of his hand. Once he starts teleporting, stay in the corner and he wont hit you when he flies really low. Repeat this and the battle will easily be won. (sent in by G0KU4620@aol.com!) ****************************************************************** 4) ~ MID-BOSS BATTLES ~ ****************************************************************** ------------------------------------------------------------------ ELLEFANT ------------------------------------------------------------------ ABILITY RECIEVED: Throw RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Laser/Freeze (Hammer/Sword for the half-underwater battle with him in level 6) WHAT TO DO: Do not touch him for any reason. Fly over him except when he's about ready to throw an apple. Hit him with laser or freeze the apples and kick them back his way. For the half-underwater battle, he is a LOT FASTER than you, so unless you're desperate for a 1-up and throw, I would reccomend not fighting him. AS METAKNIGHT: This thing is EVIL. Stay away from him, DO NOT use anything except your normal attack and don't use it more than two hits' worth before backing up. Unless you really really need a 1-Up, don't even bother fighting him in level 6. You're being timed. ------------------------------------------------------------------ BUGZZY ------------------------------------------------------------------ ABILITY RECIEVED: Back-Drop RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Ball WHAT TO DO: Bugzy goes down really fast with ball. It does about 1/2 his HP per hit. If not using ball, inhale the bugs he sends at you, send them back, and whatever you do, AVOID TOUCHING HIM. AS METAKNIGHT: Because Bugzy is much bigger now, it's a bit harder to avoid him, but the same stays true with the elephant miniboss; stay the hell away from him and only use the normal, continuous attack. ------------------------------------------------------------------ MR. TICK TOCK ------------------------------------------------------------------ ABILITY RECIEVED: Mike RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Spark/Freeze WHAT TO DO: Whenever he stops to shoot out notes attack with Spark/Freeze. Otherwise, inhale the notes and send them back at him. He's invincible when he's doing his RING attack, so be careful not to get too close. ALTERNATE STRATEGY: Use Stone. He's weak to stone. He'll die in 3 hits. (Sent in by Celtic Shaezer) AS METAKNIGHT: He'll sit there and let you hack away at him while ringing, and even more when he's tossing musical notes at you. It's not hard to beat him in less than 20 seconds. ------------------------------------------------------------------ MR. FREEZE ------------------------------------------------------------------ ABILITY RECIEVED: Freeze RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Spark/Freeze WHAT TO DO: Sit there next to him and watch him die with Spark/Freeze. If not, just inhale the ice blocks and send them back at him. Fly over him when he runs. AS METAKNIGHT: THE epitome of easy. He shouldn't be able to fire off a single ice block before you kill him. Waste him quickly; if you spend more than 10 seconds fighting this guy you're either hopped up on something or you just really really stink. ------------------------------------------------------------------ POPPY BROS SR. ------------------------------------------------------------------ ABILITY RECIEVED: CRASH RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Fire/Ice WHAT TO DO: Fire/Ice are multi-hit, so they both work well, at a fair enough range to avoid their hopping. If without an ability, inhale the bombs they throw and send them back. Unfortunately there's no BOMB ability. :( ALTERNATE STRATEGY: Use either Spark/Freeze/Needle or Tornado. With Spark/ Freeze/Needle you are protected from their attacks. When they jump they will hit the barrier. You can also use tornado and ram into them, trying to keep going constantly. (sent in by Teishu_No_Hamusuta!) AS METAKNIGHT: Believe it or not, this is actually the second hardest miniboss in the game next to the elephant, mainly because you fight them in pairs. Concentrate on one at a time, and don't forget about the one behind you, because if you give it a chance it will throw a bomb at you; since you can't cancel any of MetaKnight's attacks, chances are you'll get plastered by an explosive from behind if you don't act quick. ------------------------------------------------------------------ FIRE LION ------------------------------------------------------------------ ABILITY RECIEVED: Fireball RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Tornado/Fireball WHAT TO DO: This mid-boss is very annoying. Use Tornado/Fireball against him to ram through him and hopefully score multi hits. Don't let him catch you when he's running, or he'll gnaw on you for a while. If without an ability, send the stars when he does the headbutt against the ground back at him. AS METAKNIGHT: This miniboss is rather easy if you can get the drop on him and don't let him run across the room. If he does, you can quite possibly kiss one of your three life bars and four-five seconds goodbye, because it's hard to jump out of the way when you're so close. Exercise caution. ------------------------------------------------------------------ BONKERS ------------------------------------------------------------------ ABILITY RECIEVED: Hammer RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Fire/Ice/Tornado WHAT TO DO: Like the Poppy Bros, Fire/Ice work well when he's standing still. Tornado also gets rid of him quickly because you can hit him 3 times per tornado. If without an ability, inhale either the stars from his pounding or the coconut grenades he throws back at him. AS METAKNIGHT: Rather easy, just don't get too cocky. Bonkers is rather unpredictable as far as minibosses go, and it's likely he'll smack you once or twice if you don't watch him. Remember that you move forwards a smidge when using your normal attack, so back up every couple of swipes so he won't pound you. ------------------------------------------------------------------ WHEELER ------------------------------------------------------------------ ABILITY RECIEVED: Wheel RECCOMENDED ABILITY: Spark/Freeze WHAT TO DO: Whenever Wheelie falls on his side, sit next to him and use Spark/ Freeze. It'll do a good deal of damage before he gets back up. Otherwise, inhale the little wheelies and either use Wheel against him or send them back his way. ALTERNATE STRATEGY: He moves really fast, I would recomend a distance power, like laser. (sent in by JordanSWHS!) AS METAKNIGHT: Only annoying because of the inability to get out of your attacks. It's best to hit him while jumping, so in case he decides to charge across the room you'll be out of harm's way. If you don't, you'll run the risk of getting bowled over. ****************************************************************** 5) ~ CONTACT INFORMATION ~ ****************************************************************** E-MAIL: Rockman And Forte @ yahoo . com (take out spaces to e-mail me) AIM: InsaneSonikkuFan Feel free to send me a line about strategies, or just how much you like my FAQ!
