Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of the Foot Clan is just your average sidescrolling adventure game from Conami, and I do mean Average. Yeah, it's a very enjoyable game, but there are quite a few things that could have been improved upon. Its length, or rather shortness, is something we could have done without. There are only five stages. Also, on the Configuration screen, there's a stage select, and you don't even have to enter a code to reach it. All you have to do is move the Left and Right arrows to the desired stage. There are two control settings though. The Default one, Mode A, has your Attack button on button A. Mode B, the one I prefer, sets Jump on button A and Attack on button B. 20. As to gameplay, it's average. Run through the levels, avoid the obstacles, kill the enemies and grab the pizza. Then kill the boss. 21. The music is another thing that could have been done much better. The TMNT theme song is here, and it's very well done. The music is all pretty good, but I think it could have been much better. Look at TMNT II: Back from the Sewers and TMNT III: The Radical Rescue. The musical scores in both games are greatly improved over this game. TMNT II features surprisingly clear speech. I didn't know the original Game Boy could handle speech at all, let alone make it this clear. Its only flaw is that it's a bit loud. The sound effects are, again, just your average Game Boy sounds, and they remain so for the later games, but again, both sequels have it much better than this game. 22. Controls 23. D-pad: Move turtle or cursor 24. A: Jump/Attack 25. B: Jump/Attack 26. Start: Pause game (note: It even has that Konami chime!) 27. Select: To my knowledge this has no purpose. 28. Note: As I said above, the controls vary slightly depending on whether you use Mode A or B. 29. Codes 30. As short as this game is, it does feature a few little tips and tricks, two to be exact. If you find yourself low on health, pause the game and press: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A. Your energy will be restored, so unpause the game and get back to fighting! Note: This works only once per level, so use it wisely! 31. To practice the bonus games, go to the Configuration screen. Don't press Start. You need to be on the screen with the Stage Select. Now press A, B and Select simultaneously. You should here a little ping sound and see a question mark to the right of the Stage Select. Highlight this and press Start to be taken to a menu wherein you can select what game you wish to play. Note: You'll have to do this code after each practice session if you plan to keep playing only the bonus games. 32. The Bonus Games 33. There are three bonus games found in this game, so after a while they can become bland and somewhat boring. Still, they're an excellent way to refill your health if you need it. Here, I'll talk about the games. 34. Number Stumpers 35. This is just a name of my own invention. Actually, that's not entirely true. If you remember that old Speak N' Math toy, that thing had a game called Number Stumpers. This game plays exactly the same way. Splinter will give you ten chances in which to guess a number between 0 and 1000. When the game says, "Too big, " or "Too small," it refers to your guess, so try to narrow it down and if you're lucky you'll guess it right. For example, you might try guessing...let's say 500 and it might say "Too big." Guess something smaller than 500 like maybe 250 and so on. It's actually kinda fun if you're good at that sort of thing. 36. Twenty-three Stars 37. Well, that's probably not the name of the game, but I remember playing a little computer game like it when I was but a lad. Here, you're pitted against Krang. You're object is to take as many stars while leaving one behind. If you take the last one, you lose. If you don't, you win and will get a life refill. I've heard that if you manage to get perfect scores on these games, you'll not only regain lost energy but also any turtles who fell along the way. 38. Target Practice 39. This one is my favorite and has the best music. Your goal is to hit a specified number of targets in the amount of time given. If you do, you'll get all your health back. This is the one that I've heard will regain you any lost turtles, but I've never managed to get a perfect. Anybody know if the other bonus games allow you this chance as well? Any hints would be appreciated. 40. Walkthrough 41. Stage 1 42. Ah, the TMNT theme music. Just run right and take out the soldiers. If you want, whack the parking meters and stuff. Oh, and there'll also be a guessing game a little way into the level. Play if you want, then continue. I believe one of the Foot Soldiers has a rather large amount of pizza, so he can share a bit with you after parting with his life. I've always found one just before the Sewers. When you reach the Sewer, your turtle will automatically leap down into the netherworld and the music will change. 43. In the sewer, you'll meet some more soldiers, so take 'em out. If any leave pizza slices, grab what you need. Avoid the bowling ball thingies that come down the stairs in this area as well. Oh, and there's another bonus game, this one being the Twenty-three Stars one I mentioned earlier. Play if you want, then continue on. You'll leap out of the sewer and be back in good ol' NYC. 44. Here, you'll have to avoid the cyclists who don't appear to have paid attention in Driver's Ed. Oh yeah, and one thing I forgot to mention in the controls section is that if you're surrounded by foes, attack and then quickly press the opposite direction from where you're going. This will cause you to do a swing in both directions. Also, if you press Down and your Attack button, you'll throw Shurakin. These aren't incredibly powerful, but you have an unlimited supply, and they do come in handy at times. After fighting your way through the streets for a while, it's back to the sewers. 45. Avoid the falling rocks and enemies. Grab any pizza you find. When the arrow points to the right but it seems like you can't go any further, attack the wall or push against it. Either way, a boss emerges. 46. Boss: Rocksteady 47. Give a guy a break! This guy's easy. Just avoid his attacks and attack him. Actually, he's rather stupid. If you keep on swinging your weapon nonstop, he'll charge directly into your attack. He always does for me. Keep hitting him and he'll die quickly. 48. Stage 2 49. The music here is pretty cool. It's a construction site, so you have to avoid all kinds of heavy machinery and stuff as well as the enemies. There's a chance to play Krang again and a chance to shoot some targets. Take either one if you need it, then continue on. 50. Boss: Beabop 51. A bit tougher than Rocksteady, but still laughably easy. Avoid his attacks and hit him enough times to kill him. 52. Stage 3 53. This one's kinda annoying. The music isn't the greatest either. I don't remember what bonus games are found here if any, but take 'em if you find 'em and need 'em. Avoid falling in the holes if you can. It will damage you. Eventually it's time for another boss. 54. Boss: Baxter Stockman (fly form) 55. Honestly! One thing I've always wondered is if the TMNT villains ever wake up in the morning and think, "Why? Why must we keep coming back to life each time someone releases a Ninja Turtles game? Why don't they get some new guys to do it!?" It just goes to show that having the same bosses over and over can become a little repetitious...to say the least. Anyway, attack Baxter however you want and avoid his little balls (no, they're not his testicles...at least I hope not). After enough hits, Baxter will die...again. 56. Stage 4 57. This one takes place on a river. The music, while not the greatest, is pretty good. Run through the level and kill the enemies. If you find any bonus stages and are in need of a bonus, feel free. You'll also have to journey underwater for a time. Then it's time for another boss. 58. Boss: Shredder 59. Shredder is easy. Avoid his sword and try to hit him from behind. It's easier to hit him from behind than it is from the front due to his sword. After enough hits, Shredder (AKA Oroku Saki), will die. 60. Stage 5 61. The Technodrome. The music is the best in the game, too. Interestingly enough, there's a bonus right at the beginning of the level. It's a target practice game. Just jump straight left when you start the level and you'll enter it. This final stage can be annoying. There's all kinds of electrical stuff that will drain your energy. Avoid/kill as many enemies as possible, grabbing any pizza you can. Eventually it's time for the last battle. 62. Final Boss: Krang 63. Krang's not too horribly tough. Avoid his attacks and strike him as much as possible. He'll die very quickly. Note: The following info will spoil the ending, not that there's much to spoil here. 64. After the battle with Krang, it just shows the turtles untying April as the technodrome falls over. Then Krang appears and laughs. Then it switches back to the title screen. There's even a lame little tune for the whole thing, but it's only about five or ten seconds long...of course the ending isn't that long either. 65. Closing 66. E-mail Disclaimer 67.
