This one covers the GameBoy game Days of Thunder which, if you're looking at this, you can guess that it's a racing game. Yeah, I don't know much to say about this. They will widen/narrow the screen, respectively. Otherwise, N/A. ------------- The Main Menu ------------- Once you start up the game and press the Start Button twice, you'll arrive at a screen with these options: ~~ Enter Race: Start an exhibition race using the selected track. ~~ Begin Season: Go through all five tracks consecutively. ~~ [Track Name]: Displays the name of the exhibition track; can be Daytona, Phoenix, Atlanta, Michigan, or Miami. ~~ Race Laps: How many laps are in the race; can be 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, 15, 20, or 40. ~~ Quit: Stop playing. Afterwards, if you opt to race, you'll see some more options: ~~ Practice Pit ~~ Qualify ~~ Practice ~~ Positions ~~ Pit-Lane Indicator ~~ Options (returns to previous screen) They're all pretty self-explanatory, this time around. --------------------- Qualifying for a Race --------------------- To qualify for a race, you must first opt to Qualify, as above. At the Qualifying Session screen, press a button to begin the race. Here, you'll run some laps around the track you are to race on. The point of a qualifier is to put you in a certain position at the start of the real race; the faster your best single lap time here, the closer to the start you'll end up being. After your laps end, the Qualifying Positions screen appears; use the D-Pad to scroll to find "C. Trickle" (which is you) and your position. Then press Select to go to the Options screen. --------------- The Actual Race --------------- From the Options screen, select Race and press any button to begin. Once the game says to go, floor it and begin racing. It is much like with the qualifier race, but with other people around. After the laps end, press any button to find your score on the Final Positions screen; repeat again to find your score on the Season Standings screen, if you are playing a season. --------- Pit Stops --------- Whenever you make a pit stop, your fuel is automatically refilled, so don't worry about that. You have to change the tires, though. You only want to change what needs it, for if you change something that doesn't need it, it just wastes time. During a pit stop, use the D-Pad to move the flashing mechanic to change a tire. Press the A or B Button when done to continue racing. ----------------------- Some Special Techniques ----------------------- Okay, this first isn't so special as you might think. If you've ever watched televised races, you'll understand that racecars rarely actually TRY to hit each other. However, here, cutting them off and ramming them is okay; just be aware of your damage gauge. The first true technique is slipstreaming. Basically, when you drive right behind another car, you'll be in its slipstream. As a result of the lower pressure brought about by its movement, and how high pressure tends to move towards the low pressure, you'll end up being dragged along somewhat. You'll have to do some work, still, but not as much, thereby conserving your fuel. The other technique I'd like to mention is the pipeline. Whenever you're going for a banked corner or turn, turn to go up the curve, then floor it down the other side and along the straightaway.
