That being said, knowledge of Katakana is virtually required to play this game so you can identify which fish you're catching, go download a chart off the net for reference if you don't know it. There's Kanji in this game and I can't read all of it, so whenever I'm listing something I cannot translate it simply shows up as ??. Most of the time, reading these is not necessary, but in some cases it would really help. In general I will list the Japanese name for something first, followed by its translation. For things like items, I'll use English to refer to them, but for fish, bugs, plants, and animals, I'll use the Japanese names since you'll need to read them to know what you're looking at anyway. ############################################################################### F-3 You Can Help! If you contribute anything to this guide, you'll be appropriately credited. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== G-00 Game Basics: This sections goes over the basics of the game. ############################################################################### G-01 About Umi no Nushi Tsuri 2: Umi no Nushi Tsuri 2 (Lit. Ocean Fishing Master 2) is an instalment in the "Kawa No Nushi Tsuri" (River Fishing Master) series. It's a fishing RPG that combines fishing with fighting wild animals. As you progress, you'll earn money, buy better fishing tackle, and eventually catch the legendary Sea King. Basically the same story as all of the Nushi Tsuri games. This series is occasionally brought to the US as "Legend of the River King". Although a localization for this game was apparently planned (several websites had some coverage of this game under the title "Legend of the Sea King"), it never materialized. Actually, another game in the series, "Nushi Tsuri 64" (with which this game has Transfer Pak functionality, I've also written a guide for that game) suffered the same fate, I would guess that around that time they decided the River King franchise wasn't profitable in the US. They released River King 2 on GBC, but after that it'd be about a decade before we'd see another game in the series. This game is extremely similar to Legend of the River King for GB, so if you've played that game, you'll be right at home. This is basically the same game except with different fish and different areas. If you're new to the series, you probably have no idea what to expect, that's normal. This series is pretty unique, I'm no fan of fishing games but I've always enjoyed its original and bizarre take on the genre. An added note, this game supports Super Game Boy, if you want to play it that way you can get special borders and colours. Changes from Legend of the River King (GB) ------------------------------------------ This game is extremely similar to Legend of the River King 1 and 2 for GB / GBC (aka Kawa no Nushi Tsuri 3/4), but there are some minor changes. - The new features that River King 2 added (bug catching, shell diving, gardening) aren't in this game. - Fly Fishing isn't in the game. It's been replaced by another type of Lure Fishing called Trolling that uses a type of lure known as a Spinner. - You can now fish in the ocean off the back of a fishing boat. Specific rods are required for this. - Wild animals seem preposterously common in this game. I don't ever remember getting into battles as often in River King 1 or 2. - Conversely, Kayaking consumes almost no HP in this game, your HP doesn't drain at all until you go some ridiculous number of steps. ############################################################################### G-02 Starting Up: Starting the game takes you straight to the title screen. If you're so inclined, you can wait for 10 seconds or so to watch a cinema scene. It's kind of impressive for Game Boy. Press Start to get to the main menu, it has three options. Play Raise Delete Selecting any of these will show you the file selection screen, the game gives you 2 save files. If starting a new game (from the Play Menu), you must name yourself. You can use Hiragana or Katakana, but not English letters, so if you don't know how to spell your own name put in something you can recognize. Finish entering your name and press start to begin the game. Raise mode is the same as it was in Legend of the River King for GB, so you can look up a guide for that game if you want to learn how to play it. Basically, you get a fish tank and you can raise a fish, feeding it at appropriate times and cleaning its tank to help it evolve into better types of fish. And of course, Delete lets you delete one of your files. ############################################################################### G-03 Controls: The controls in this game are pretty simple, after all, GB only has 2 buttons. It's mostly menu-driven. While Walking: -------------- DPad - Move around A - Open Menu B - Switch to Fishing Mode In Menus: --------- DPad - Move cursor A - Choose B - Go back While Fishing (Field Map): -------------------------- DPad - Turn your body. If you're already facing in that direction, move the camera. While casting, move your line. A - Open Menu / Reel line in / Set hook B - Cast Line / Reel line in / Set hook Fishing Battle: --------------- A / B - Reel Wild Animal Battle: ------------------- A - Select B - Cancel ############################################################################### G-04 The Field Menu: The following is a translation of the field menu, which you can call up any time you're in the field by pressing A. Menu Structure: --------------- Fish / Walk Food Bait / Lure Items Tackle Status Fish / Walk switches you between fishing and Walking. You can also press B to switch from Walking to Fishing mode (but not vice-versa). Bait / Lure is used to select a relevant bait for your rod. Tackle is used to choose your rod, and if applicable, your hook and bob. Food lets you see your food items, you can press A to eat one. Items is used to see your current inventory. You can select an item and press A to use it, or B to go back. Status shows your current statistics (in more detail than the status window that's always displayed on-screen). ############################################################################### G-05 Your Statistics The Status Window: ------------------ Whenever you open the menu, in the top left, you'll see a little summary of your status, which has the following format. HP: Money: AM/PM The Status Screen: ------------------ If you want more detail, you can select Status from the field menu. This shows the following: LV HP / Experience Total Fish Caught Exp for new level What Your Stats Do: ------------------- It's not much good knowing how to find your stats if you don't know what each number actually represents. HP: --- Like almost every RPG, this game has hit points. When they reach zero, you'll collapse and wake up in your home in Area 1. Other than keeping you alive, HP has two other important secondary functions - how far you can cast your line is based on your current HP, as is your attack power in battle. If you have only 10 HP, you'll cast a pathetically short distance and do practically no damage, whereas with 100 HP, you'd get a mega cast and do loads of damage. Of course, you don't have to cast the full distance, you can let go of B while casting to drop your cast short. This power is not proportional to your Maximum HP, so at the beginning of the game your cast distance will be short and your damage will be low, and as you increase your level you'll get better, but only as long as you keep your HP up. HP can be lost in two ways: - The most common way is through wild animal battles. Every time they hit you, you'll lose HP. - Using the Kayak or boat very slowly drains HP. The actual rate at which it does so is weird, you get a lot of steps for free, but after some amount (it seems to be 30-40), every square thereafter drains 1 HP. As long as you hit the shore every now and then you should be fine. HP can be restored in two ways, as well: - Sleeping in an inn recovers all of your HP. - Eating a food item recovers some HP. (You can do this during battle, too) You can increase your maximum HP by levelling up, which is done using EXP. EXP: ---- This game also has experience points. Every time you defeat a wild animal in a wild animal battle, you will earn some experience points. When you get enough, your Level will increase and so will your Maximum HP. Don't worry, your EXP is not lost if you are defeated in battle. A true outdoorsman never gives up! Level: ------ For every 10 EXP you gain, your level increases by 1. This causes your maximum HP to increase, which indirectly makes you better at fishing and fighting as well. Since HP is needed for kayakking and boating and HP also affects how well you can fish and fight, it's a good idea to raise it as often as you can, even if the wild animal battles can get a bit tiring after a while. ############################################################################### G-06 Fishing In-Depth: Finding a Fish: --------------- Walk up to any body of water and cast your line to see any fish shadows that may be in the water. Day or night, they're pretty easy to spot. The trick is getting them on the line. First, you'll want to try to cast your line near a fish. Try not to actually drop it right on top of the fish, they'll scatter. You want to throw it upstream of them, and then let it drift down to the fish. You can give the bait a little pull with A to speed this up. When your bait is exactly on top of the fish, one of two things will happen: If the fish likes you bait, it'll start spinning around the bait, you'll hear a steady beeping, when it turns into one long BEEEEEEEEP hit the A button to progress to the fishing battle (if you hit it too early or too late, you'll just lose your bait). If it doesn't like your bait, you'll hear two beeps and nothing else will happen. After you succesfully get the hook the fish, you move to the fishing battle segment. It has two phases, but you don't do the first step if you're using a Bait Rod, so skip down to the part on "Reeling the Fish". Hooking the Fish: ----------------- When you use a Lure or Trolling Rod, your battle starts with your lure floating in the water, and the fish off to the left. Pressing A or B pulls your lure towards the top right. The goal here is to trick the fish into thinking that your lure is actual food and taking a bite, the best way to do this is to pull it a little, then let go, pull a little, let go, etc. Done well, the fish will approach closer and closer to your lure. When it gets close, make sure you line up the lure with the fish vertically so it doesn't miss when it tries to take a bite. If you succeed, the fish will be on the line and you move on to the Reeling Stage. Note that it's sometimes useful to make the fish miss the lure the first time so you can drag it closer to the boat. Reeling the Fish: ----------------- Reeling is a simple matter of holding A, but the fish isn't going to take it lying down, it's going to be pulling back to try to get away. You don't want to pull when the fish does, because you'll snap the line, just wait for it to stop completely, then hold A until you see it stop and hear a beep, then let go and let it run again. Repeat this until you pull the fish all the way to the top right. Of course, you won't always win. Some fish will be too strong, you won't be able to pull them back as far as they'll be able to run, and eventually they'll reach the extent of your line and escape. There's not much you can do other than come back with a better rod. You can also lose the fish if you don't let go fast enough when you hear the beep. Record Breakers: ---------------- How hard it is to beat a given fish is proportional to how big it is. However, very infrequently you'll find one that seems harder than it ought to be. In these cases, the fish may be a special kind of fish called a "Record Breaker". If you catch it, there's a slightly different message and there'll be a special stamp in the Fish Memo. So what happens if you catch every Record Breaker, thus collecting every stamp in the Fish Memo? Probably nothing, but I don't know for sure, Record Breakers are very rare and it'd take an extremely long time to catch them all. Comparison of Rod Types: ------------------------ Though you'll probably want to have all 3 types of rods, it's important to know what each rod is good at. Bait: ----- There's two types of bait rods, Reel Rods and Boating Rods. Reel Rods can be used anywhere, whereas Boating Rods can only be used on the boat. With those, you can hold B to set the depth of the bait. Advantages: Bait is cheap and plentiful. It's also the only way to catch deep water fish. Disadvantages: This game follows the classic Nushi Tsuri formula, which means that you have to have the right size of hook for every fish, if you have the wrong size the hook will not set and you'll lose the fish instantly. This is such a pain in the butt that it makes Bait fishing almost totally useless after Area 1. Also, if you have to change your type of bait or hook, you lose the one you had already set. Lure: ----- Advantages: Lures are reusable, so you can freely switch between them with no penalty. You don't have to use hooks, lures are one size fits all. Disadvantages: Lures are expensive to buy at first, and can't catch deepwater fish. Using a Lure also adds an extra stage to fishing, making it more time-consuming and difficult. Trolling: --------- Advantages: Spinners are similar to lures, but the way you cast them is different. You can only use them in the boat, and you just drop them behind you. You can then cruise around freely while dragging the lure behind the boat, making it easy to just drag it over a fish you want to catch. Disadvantages: Trolling involves a lot of cruising around, which can be brutal on your HP. It also can't catch deepwater fish. ############################################################################### G-07 Fighting Animals In-Depth: Finding Animals: ---------------- While walking around, the screen will sometimes go dark, and you'll proceed to a wild animal battle. These are usually random but a few occur as events. Wild Animal Battle: ------------------- The screen is divided into 4 segments. In the top left is your status, in the top right is the battle menu, in the middle is the battle window, and on the bottom is the text display. Battle generally starts at the menu, but rarely the animal will get the first attack. The items in the menu are as follows. Attack Eat Run Away Selecting attack will cause a fist icon to appear in the battle window. After a half second or so, it will move somewhere else, and then again in another half second, again and again, faster and faster. What you want to do is to hit A while the fist is over some part of the animal's picture, this will result in a successful hit. Most animals have a weak point that you can hit for extra damage, but you often can't afford to be picky - if you wait too long scoring a hit becomes almost impossible. Eating allows you to choose some item you may be holding to eat, this will recover health, but this uses up your turn. Selecting to run will attempt to escape the battle, but you may fail. This also uses up your turn. On their turn, the animal will usually attack you, however, some animals will sometimes just pass their turns or steal one of the fish from your cooler instead (the latter is very annoying). Either way, after they do something, it's your turn again, combat continues until you escape or someone loses all of their HP. Assuming that someone isn't you, you get experience for your victory, earning enough causes you to level up, see the section on statistics for more information. ############################################################################### G-08 Shop Translation: Every shop in the game has the same inventory except for the Tools menu. This unlocks new entries in the fishing memo for Nushi Tsuri 64 based on which fish you have caught in Umi no Nushi Tsuri 2. It also gives you early access to the Moroko Rod in Umi no Nushi Tsuri 2. To activate the Transfer, go to the Fishing Memo in Nushi Tsuri 64 with the Transfer Pack plugged in and select the file to transfer from the bottom of the screen. =============================================================================== =============================================================================== M-00 Maps: This sections contains maps of the 4 game areas. Here is a main overworld map showing the connections between the areas: Area 2 --- Area 1 --- Area 3 | | Area 4 So you start in Area 1, you can head left to Area 2, or right to Area 3. From Area 3, you head south to Area 4. How to read the maps: --------------------- The maps in this guide are 1-1, which means 1 square in the game represents one square in the map, at least where I've mapped the areas correctly. Here's the legend for the maps: # Impassible terrain, usually cliffs, trees, etc. + Also impassible, but marks a house. @ A person (without anything interesting to say) | The water's edge (vertical) - The water's edge (horizontal) " Edge of map (vertical) = Edge of map (horizontal) Empty space represents land or water, the enclosed space is the land, the unenclosed space is the water. Letters represent points of interest, either building enterances or people who you have to talk to for a quest. Numbers represent fish locations, further legends for these are provided underneath the maps. In the fish legend, I've denoted one type of bait they accept, and the size of hook that you need (if I know what it is, I stopped using a bait rod fairly quickly because it annoys me). If a D is listed, it means you must use a sink, which is the second option when selecting a bait rod, pick the one to the far right (otherwise, use the far left). I've also listed the known sizes that the fish can have. If there's a ! over the larger number, that means that size is known to be a Record Breaker. I've also recorded which wild animals appear in which areas, and how much EXP they give when defeated. Baddies in Area 4: Starfish - 2 EXP Albatross - 4 EXP Sea Otter - 6 EXP Shark - 12 EXP =============================================================================== =============================================================================== W-00 Walkthrough: This section explains how to get through the game. ############################################################################### W-01 Starting Out: As with all RPGs, you start off extremely weak. You only have 30 HP, which means you can barely cast your line anywhere and are weak in battles. You also have crummy fishing equipment that will be unsuitable for anything but the smallest of fish. Before we do anything else, we need to improve both of those things. First of all, talk to your sister for a free Lunch. Leave your house and head immediately to the south to try to catch a few fish. If you don't know how to fish, look at the section G-05. If you catch a Shirogisu, you can trade it to the man northeast of your house, he'll build the Kayak for you later. You can only hold 8 fish right now, after you catch enough you'll have to sell them at the fish shop. You can then head to the bait shop to buy better equipment. The first thing you'll probably need to buy is more bait, the worm and the krill are the best choices for now, though eventually you'll want a better rod. That Lure Rod 10ft is a great investment, but if you're cheap you can get a free Lure Rod soon enough. You've likely noticed by now that your casting distance is pathetically short. To fix that you'll have to gain a few levels. Walk around the docks for a while and you should run into some seagulls. Every 4 you beat is worth one level. Note that your attack power will drop as you get hurt, so you may have to return to the inn to recover. After getting a few levels under your belt you'll be able to fish much more effectively. Once you feel slightly less green, it's time to get the Kayak. ############################################################################### W-02 Getting the Kayak: First, if you haven't already done so, catch a Shirogisu south of your house and trade it to the man northeast of your house. He'll agree to make you a Kayak, but he needs some wood first. Note that you often need to talk to people twice to give them something. In order to get the wood, we have to visit Area 2, which you can reach by heading all the way to the west edge of Area 1. You might have to fight along the way, try to conserve HP as you go. The man you need to talk to to get the plank is right at the entrance to Area 2, but the moment we talk to him we'll have to fight a Crow. Crows are fairly strong, so hopefully you've powered up enough to beat it. Worst case, you did start the game with a lunch, which you can use to heal yourself during battle. After you beat him, take the plank back to the man you traded the Shirogisu to and you'll recieve the Kayak. You can now move through the water in Area 1 and 2, allowing you to catch a greater variety of fish. Be warned however that Kayakking gets tiring after a while, you can move about 40 steps for free, but after that you lose 1 hp for every step you take. You can just go back on land to refresh the counter. Note that you can talk to the guy who gave you the plank to fight an infinite number of crows. This is an extremely good way to grind for levels once you can beat crows easily. Once you decide you're ready to proceed, move to the next section. ############################################################################### W-03 Setting off on the Boat: Our next destination is Area 3, which you can reach by crossing the top dock to the east in Area 1. Here you'll meet your father, standing by a boat, but he won't let you take it yet. You need to help out one of his friends with something first. But before we do that, you'll probably want to get some new fishing gear, because the fish in the ocean are tough to beat with your default rod. If you want to get some for free, head southwest from your house to find a fisherman. Catch an Ishigarei from immediately below where he's standing and trade it to him for the Small Boating Rod. It's not great, but you can't beat the price. Speaking of free stuff, you can get a free Lure Rod 8ft in Area 2. Just cross the bridge and fish off the north side of the rocks until you catch an Ishidai that's 38cm or larger. Then head across to the little house that's just south of the entrance to Area 2 and trade it to the girl inside the house for the rod. This rod is actually fairly useful, though the one you can buy is superior. If you're still using bait at this point you'll need to switch to medium sized hooks to catch this thing, it likes Krill. You'll need to buy some lures for your new lure rod. They're expensive, but they're reusable, so you won't have to bait your line every time. By far the best lure is the Spoon, which is accepted by like 90% of all fish in the entire game. The Minnow F covers pretty much everything the Spoon doesn't, so just buy those two if you're hard up for cash. What we're actually supposed to be doing is catching 3 Sabas for the man on the south dock. The Sabas can be found south of where he's standing, sometimes they come inside the fence, but you might have to go around using the Kayak to find enough. They're very common in the bottom right corner at night, if you can make it down there without passing out. Note that all 3 have to be in your cooler at the same time, so don't catch too much other stuff. Once you have all 3, give them to him and return to your father. Your father now wants you to catch a Suzuki as a final test of your readiness before we head out onto the ocean. This can be found in Area 2, just fish near the left side of the bridge at the top. Suzuki is probably the strongest fish you've fought so far, so make sure you don't miss any opportunities to reel it in. After getting one return back to your father and we're ready to set off on the next part of the quest. Before that, though, you might want to start a couple other quests. Near the Suzuki you can also catch Kurodai and Ainame. If you can catch a 38cm Kurodai (which is very hard as they rarely come this big), you can trade it to a woman in the westmost house in Area 1 to start a subquest. You can also start the trading sequence by catching an Ainame and trading it to the man near the rocks. He'll give you the Seashell, which you can then trade to a girl in Area 1 for the Toy Dolphin. Once ready, talk to your father again and prepare to set sail. ############################################################################### W-04 Sick Father on the Coast: Now that you have access to the boat you can explore Area 3. The boat is very similar to the Kayak, you can cruise around for a while, but sooner or later you'll start losing 1 HP per step so you should find your way back to land. The difference is that you can only exit the boat up here or at a dock, so you
have to plan your cruise a little better.  You can also use two new types of
fishing equipment while on the boat, the Boating and Trolling Rods, though
you probably don't have the latter yet unless you've been buying everything.

Your immediate goal at this point is to head southeast to the coastal town.
It's quite far away, you'll probably need at least 50 HP to make it there.
You can eat a lunch or another food item if your health starts to get low.
Before you reach the coast, you might want to try to catch a Hiramasa, because
you'll need one soon.  They can be found just south of the northern docks,
near a set of stones in the water.  You can catch one using the Minnow F lure.

Once you reach the coast, you can now explore the new town, which includes a
new store which sells some new tools, including lunch and juice.  The main
thing you need to do right now is talk to your father, who requests a Hiramasa.
If you caught one already, just immediately return to the deck and talk to him
again, otherwise you'll have to go catch one and come back.  Afterwards, talk
to him again.  He'll try to tell you something important and then fall ill.
You'll wind up back inside your house in Area 1.

Your father is still alive, but he needs medicine, which unsurprisingly has to
be made from fish.  Talk to the doctor and he'll tell you to catch an Inada, 
which you can find near the bottom left of Area 2.  After bringing that back,
he'll ask you to catch a Madako, which can be found near the top of Area 3.
Note that you cannot take the boat with your father being out of commission,
you just have to fish off the top dock.  After you catch one, take it back to
the doctor again and your father will get better.  What a good son you are.

With your father's health restored, we can now return to the coast.

W-05

The Trading Sequence


Now that your father is healthy again we can return to our main objective,
catching the Sea King.  To achieve this, we must complete a series of trades.
The first two are fairly easy and you may have already done them by now.
First, catch an Ainame in Area 2 and trade it to a man on the south rocks for
the Seashell, then swap the seashell with a little girl in Area 1 for the
Toy Dolphin.  Now things get tricky.

To get the third item you have to catch a Madai, which requires you to go to
Area 4.  To get there, just head down to the coast, heal up (through lunches,
bought at the bait shop, there's no inn here), then head west and south.  Once
in Area 4, Madai can be caught just south of the entrance using the Minnow F
lure.  Once you catch one, return to the coast and dock the boat, then head 
south into Area 4 (on foot), and talk to the man in the upper left part of the
area.  Then return to Area 3 at night and talk to the old man standing near the
bait shop (if he's not there, enter a house and exit again).  He'll trade the 
Toy Dolphin for the Old Coin.

We could continue the trading sequence at this point, but before that there's
an excellent freebie waiting for us back in Area 1.  Return to Area 1 and the
same old man will be standing beside the girl who traded you the Toy Dolphin.
As thanks for reuniting him with his little girl you'll get the the Lure Rod 
14ft for free.  This is one of the best rods in the game, and we don't have to
do anything further to get it.  Good deeds pay off!

You can also probably pick up another wonderful freebie at this point.  Head
to Area 2 and talk to the man near the eastern house.  After some dialogue,
he should hand over the Watch.  This fantastic item lets you set the current
time.  No more losing Fish to time changes ever again, now you can just set
the time back a few hours and keep fishing.  Alternatively, you can force
a time change to reset the fish in the area.  Just select the watch from the
Tools menu to change the time.

The fourth and final item requires you to complete several subquests, all of
which are located on the island in Area 4.  To get there, just sail southeast
in Area 4 until you find a bridge and dock there.  Among other things, this is
a fantastic place to build levels, as the Shark enemy is worth a whopping 12
EXP.  Once you're ready, the first two subquests are on the left side, across 
the little bridge.  On the bottom are two people who want a Nekozame and
a Kinmedai.  Nekozame is easily caught near the dock in Area 3.  Kinmedai is a
bit more work.  This is a deep-water fish, so you must either use a Sink or
a Boating Rod to catch one.  The Sink is selected from the tackle menu, it's
the middle option when selecting your gear, pick the one on the far right.
To use a boating rod just hold B to set your bait to the maximum depth.
Either way you need a medium hook and Sliced Fish as well.  They can be found
just near the dock to the island in Area 4.

After getting these two, talk to the man on the bottom right of the larger
island.  He'll request a 90cm Katsuo.  This is annoying, Katsuo of this size
are very rare and there's nothing you can do to help catch bigger ones other
than to catch an absolute ton of them.  They can be caught in several places,
but the most convienient is to the immediate east of where this man is standing
since it's close by.  Eventually you should catch a big one, but don't be
surprised if it takes 10+ tries.

After turning in the Katsuo, talk to the man immediately below this guy to
trade the Old Coin for the Thief's Whistle.  Select this from the tools menu
to summon the Sea King.  It's time to meet our destiny.

W-06

The Sea King


The Sea King has appeared in the Ocean, all we have to do now is catch him to
beat the game.  However, there is one lengthy sidequest you might want to do
first.

There's a house to the far left of Area 1 where a woman requests 38cm Kurodai.
You can catch these in Area 2 (though once again, getting one this big is
tough).  Afterwards she requests Shiroamadai, then Kanpachi, which are both
in Area 3.  After this she wants 5 Hazes that are all 12cm or less, which
you can catch right at the entrance to Area 2.  Finally, she wants a
Kuromaguro, which is in Area 4.  Your reward for all of this work is the
Trolling Rod 130b, which may help catch the Sea King.

The Sea King appears to the northeast of the island in Area 4.  You have to use
a Trolling Rod and the Flying Fish to catch him.  Unfortunately, he doesn't
look any different from any other fish from above water, and there's a ton of
Kurokajiki around here who look virtually identical to him.  You can tell them
apart, though, the Sea King has a white-tipped sword, while a Kurokajiki's is
a solid colour.  Just deliberately lose against anything other than him to save
time, you'll eventually catch him by the process of elimination.  Make sure to
pack plenty of lunches as this could be a long trip.  Also, be warned that he
can be quite tough to beat even once you finally hook him, you'll almost 
certainly want to use the trick where you deliberately have him miss the lure
once or twice to get him closer to the boat.  When you finally succeed, you're
warped back to your house in Area 1 for the ending.

During the ending, you're given the Moroko Rod, the best Bait rod in the game.
You can now load your file to continue fishing and complete the Fish Memo.

W-07

The Hidden Island?


Even though you've got the Sea King and accomplished your main goal, it may not
be over yet.  The game has a hidden debug mode, which allows you to warp to
a fifth area, a secluded little island where you can catch any type of fish
in the game, similar to the "Fun Lake" from Legend of the River King.
This area has its own music and everything, so I suspect there is a way to get
here, but I have no idea what it is.  I believe I've completed the Fish Memo,
and yet I haven't found any way to enter this area.  If anyone is able to
figure this out, send me an email.
