Oujisama, you play as the titular Maruko-chan in attempting to clear several mini-games. After a scene to start off the story, you are free to wander around the town map and enter the houses. In each house (or a pond), one of Maruko-chan's acquaintances, whether a classmate or a relative, may engage in a mini-game with her. If you manage to win the mini-game, you may acquire a ticket, which can be used to select a toy from the south-centre building. The author of this guide does not quite perfectly understand the game, but there does not seem to be any real sequence of mini-games to play. Rather, visit every household to see if somebody is home - if he or she is, then you can partake in a mini-game. Otherwise, move on to the next building. If nobody is at home, then visit the school and talk to the teacher to 'reset' the placements of people in buildings. Eventually, once you do enough mini-games and select enough toys, you get an ending per se. Once you spot a scene of Chibi Maruko walking around town with a dog, you can go to the central building and then to the pond for the game's ending. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Mini-Games -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [MINI] Mini-Game 1: Cards ------------------ Upper-centre left household In this game, you have eight cards, at least one of which has Maruko's profile on it, the remaining having the image of Maruko's father. The card(s) with Maruko's face on it are shown at the start before being flipped over, and then at least one of the Maruko cards is slowly shuffled around the field, along with one of the Dad cards, and this is repeated several times. The cards move fairly slowly, so you should be able to keep an eye on which one is the Maruko card. After done shuffling, you must indicate which card or cards have Maruko's face on them. Mini-Game 2: Stilts ------------------- Middle right household You play against one of Maruko-chan's classmates by both equipping stilts and attempting to cross a yard to a finish line. Maruko's classmate takes just slightly over 20 seconds to get to the line, and you have to beat him, obviously. Controls are not actually that bad for this game. You have to alternate pressing the A and B button - if you do this well, then you can make good speed. If you press the A button or the B button twice in a row, Maruko-chan shall fall over, and take a second to recover. You may need to lose the game once just to get a feel for the button mashing before retrying it, as you cannot just pound away feverishly at the buttons. Mini-Game 3: Rock Throwing -------------------------- Pond As far as the mini-games go, this is one of the more simple ones. You are given 10 tries to skim a rock across a pond. You have a bar on the left side that fills up and down with a line near the top of it. If you wait until the bar fills up over the line, then Maruko will successfully skim the rock along the length of the entire pond. You have to do this at least 5 times with your 10 throws. The bar will not fill completely every time in its up-and-down cycle, so be weary and watch to make sure you do not throw the rock pre-emptively. There will also occasionally be logs floating across the pond - this will stop your rock throw if it smacks into a log. You can move Maruko with the D-Pad to stay out of the way of a log. Rock throws are done with the A button. Mini-Game 4: Yard Work ---------------------- Lower Left House In this mini-game, you have to go left and pick up a block from the ground. When Maruko-chan picks the block up, a bar will pop up. To fill it totally, you need to rapidfire press the A and B buttons without any real rhythm. Once the bar totally fills up, you are free to move the block, and must go right to deliver it to the house. You are given 99 seconds to deliver at least 10 blocks. Mini-game 5: Fruit Catching --------------------------- Lower right house One of Maruko-chan's classmates shall be standing on top of a fence and will swat at fruit hanging on a tree. The fruit will slowly drift down, and you need to control Maruko-chan with the D-Pad to move her left and right to catch the fruit. However, there are also two different types of fruit - a dark-coloured one and a light-coloured one. Maruko-chan in turn has a dark-coloured basket and a light-coloured basket, starting with the dark-coloured basket. To alternate between the two, press A or B. The dark-coloured basket can only be used to grab dark-coloured fruits, and vice versa for the light-coloured basket. You must catch at least 20 fruits. You can take 3 hits, either from letting a fruit hit the ground or catching a fruit with the incorrect basket. Mini-Game 6: Singing -------------------- Upper left house Despite the name of the game, you do not do any actual singing. Rather, Maruko's classmate Tama-chan does some singing, and then you need to select one of 6 numbers, likely corresponding to something in the text prior to that. You need to do this correctly at least 3 out of 5 times, and can take 2 incorrect answers before you must restart. Mini-Game 7: Animal counting ---------------------------- Upper right house In this game, multiple dogs and chickens will cross the screen between two walls. You need to keep count of the total number of animals (not of either dogs or chickens) and afterwards, you will be asked how many animals there were. You must answer correctly 7 times, and can make two incorrect guesses. Mini-Game 8: Dancing -------------------- Lower centre right house Maruko's grandfather will do one of 5 different types of dance moves - fully facing left, jilting to the left, staying facing foward, jilting to the right, fully facing right. You must then indicate the sequence he danced by selecting one of five cards. After each successful answer, his sequence will get longer. The sequence does NOT build off the moves he made before, and each new sequence will be totally new. You need to get 5 sequences correct the first game around. ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~- Donations/Amazon -~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ [DONT] I don't really care too much about donations, but if you are feeling generous, feel free to send one via PayPal to gammabetaalphafaqs AT gmail DOT com Alternatively, if you ever order any items from Amazon.com, go to the link below. You do not have to buy anything right away, but (if you do not clear browser cookies often) any items you buy within the next 90 days will count as a 'referral order' to me, meaning I get anywhere from 4-6% as a referral/affiliate payment of what you ordered (ie. order $100 worth of stuff, I get $4-6 from Amazon.com) www.amazon.com/?&camp=212361&linkCode=wsw&tag=raofavigafa-20&creative=391881 Other than that, considering this FAQ is for an obscure old game, if you have any other obscure old games that you do not play anymore, consider sending them to me (I will even pay the shipping cost!). I write FAQs for plenty of obscure old games with no FAQs, and having a physical copy of the game (and even better, a manual) is superior to not.
