Introduction -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Date de Blackjack is an unofficially released card game for the Famicom Disk System. It is a variation of the classic Blackjack (21) game, but you play against an attractive girl one-on-one. Once you deplete her money, you go on a date of sorts where the game apparently ends. That's really all there is to this game - a modified version of Blackjack. If you want to check it out for kicks, go right ahead, but you are not missing much. ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 3. Overview -= -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ======== Gameplay ======== When the game first loads, you will meet the attractive female you will be playing cards against in the casino. Press Start and you will be asked to enter your name (four characters). Select END when you are done, and you will then get to enter a four-character password of sorts. Hit END again and you will have to flip the disk to Side B before the game begins. You will play cards one-on-one against the girl. The game is a slightly modified version of the classic Blackjack (or 21 as it is also known by). You each start off with $3000, shown beneath your character's photo. At the start of each round, you will each be dealt two cards. You will see both of yours, but can only see one of the other person's. At this point you will be asked to place a bet. Select increments of 10, 50, and 100 from the list (maximum bet is 500), then pick END to proceed. Immediately after placing your bet (your opponent matches your bet), you will be asked if you want to take another card (one more - モアワン). Based on the two cards you already have, in conjunction with the one known card the girl has, make your choice. After you choose to take/not take a third card, the girl will make the same choice and then her other card will be revealed. The person with the higher total without going over 21 wins the round and the money that was bet. If you never played Blackjack before, the objective is to get as close to 21 as you can without going over. Numeric cards are at face value, picture cards count as 10, and the Ace can be either 1 or 11 depending on the other card(s) you have. The twist in this game is that you do NOT need to follow the basic strategy (staying on 17, and so on). You only need to beat the opponent's score to win, no matter how low that may be. It should be noted that no matter what, the girl will NOT hit if her face down card is an Ace. In addition, you should not assume she has a winning hand if the visible card is high in value and/or an Ace. If you do take a third card, and especially if you bust, it is unlikely she will take a third card as well. Likewise, if she has below 17 or so, she will take a third card if you do not take a third one yourself. I've found a lot of times that the girl will lose if she is showing a low card and NOT taking a third one due to the Ace, so use that to your advantage. It really is not difficult to win. The biggest advantage to betting AFTER you receive your cards is that you can make the maximum bet if you have a high probability of winning (having 19-21 in two cards), and bet the minimum of 10 if you have a hand that will likely not win if you kept just two cards, but might bust if you take a third card. This is the single biggest piece of advice I can give in order to get to the "end" sooner. ========== Date Scene ========== After you deplete your female opponent's money supply, you will be asked to go on a date with her. Answer yes (the first option - ハイ) and the game will load the date scene. If you choose no (イイエ), you simply replenish both sides' money to $3000 and the game starts over. If you choose the date, the entire scene is menu-driven, and the options you have will be listed below. Look (みる) Surroundings (まわり) Table (てーブル) Cards (トランプ) Casino (ひろみ) Listen (きく) Casino (ひろみのこと) Date (デートのこと) Yourself (じぶんのこと) Check (しらべる) Surroundings (まわり) Table (てーブル) Cards (トランプ) Casino (ひろみ) ***************************************************************************** -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= -= 5.
