------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------- [KONAMIC TENNIS] --------------------------- ---------------------------------[by Ice Queen Zero]--------------------------- ------------------------------ [ FAMICOM DISK SYSTEM ]------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- o---------------------o INTRODUCTION o---------------------o Tennis, the sport where you people come to see some love because the word zero is a mere taboo. But on a serious note, Konamic Tennis, with the first word being a combination of Konamic and Dynamic, is technically part of Konami's Exciting Sports series on the Famicom Disk System but is one of two games that do not use the word Exciting in the title. The other title is Dynamic Ice Hockey which we know best in the USA as Blades of Steel. o---------------------o OPTIONS o---------------------o At the start of the game you have three options: Tournament Exhibition Exciting Tournament pits you in a best of one match or best of three matches as one of eight teams in the tournament so that gives you your quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. Win all three matches to win the tournament or you are out of here. Exhibition is pretty much the same as Tournament except it is one game and that is it. Choose a team and an opponent. You can also play against another human player. I have no idea what the Exciting option means but whenever I choose it, it says choose a 1 or 3 match game. It says now loading then it gives a message that says data ga arimasen (Data not found). In the first two cases, there is an option for New Game or Continue. o---------------------o CONTROLS o---------------------o A button = Serve, volley, confirm decision B button = Power shot Start = Pause the game, start the game, confirm decision Select = switch option direction = move in that direction o---------------------o TEAMS o---------------------o You can rename the team if you choose. Below is what the court looks like. NORTH SIDE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ------------------------------------------------------------ | | | | FAULT LINE | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | O | NET | O | | U |----------------------------------------------------------------| U | | T | | T | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | FAULT LINE | | | | ------------------------------------------------------------ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SOUTH SIDE You start off on the south side of the field and serve first, when the ball is up in the air, you must hit on the way down to serve it. You must hit it at the right time or you will get a fault. Two consecutive faults results in points for the opponent. Two ways to fault are serving the ball into the net and serving the ball past and it lands past the fault line. Once the ball is served successfully, you and your opponent take turns trying to volley the ball back at each other while keeping the ball in play. If either player misses the ball, it results in points for the opponent. The ball is ruled out if the ball lands past the far line or in the out box and beyond. There is no doubles in this game otherwise the OUT boxes would be valid boxes to hit the ball in. The object is to win six games in a set. To win a game you must win four matches scored as 15, 30, 40, Game. Here is a twist: in all cases you must win by two. Whenever the score is 40-40, you get what is called a Deuce. Now both opponents will battle back in forth until one side wins two straight matches to win the game. The same rules apply with games. You can have the game score being 6-5 and still not win the set. You have to win it 7-5. If the score becomes 6-6 then the game will go into the tiebreaker mode thus you may have noticed that T in the score section. The tiebreaker is scored normally. Instead of 15-30-40-Game, the game is played as being the first to win seven matches and winning by two thus the score could end up being 12-10 for example before the set is won. In a tournament mode, you move on to the next round and attempt to win the final match and the Championship. o---------------------o CREDITS o---------------------o Konami - created the game GameFAQs for hosting You for reading. o---------------------o CONTACT ME o---------------------o azulfria[at]hotmail[dot]com [at] = @ and [dot] = .
