INTRODUCTION G0100 =============================================================================== Welcome to 'Dirty Pair: Project Eden' for the Famicom Disk System, released by Bandai in 1987. Dirty Pair is a humorous science fiction anime and manga franchise based on the light novel series by Haruka Takachiho. The stories take place in the years 2138-43, by which time humanity has spread across some few thousand star systems. A corporation called the World Welfare Works Association helps local systems deal with problems by sending well-armed agents called "trouble consultants" to solve crimes or mysteries, for a fee. The series focuses on a team of trouble consultants named Kei and Yuri who have a reputation for leaving a trail of destruction behind them, for which they are called the "Dirty Pair". Kei and Yuri are the two voluptuous members of Trouble Consultant team 234, code named "Lovely Angels". Kei: a hot-headed redhead tomboy who wears a white or silver uniform. Favors large weaponry and to "shoot first, ask questions later". Yuri wears a yellow or golden uniform. Often uses non-gun weaponry such as energy whips. While the more feminine of the two, she is known to become very violent when crossed. [WikiPedia] In 1987 there was an animated movie called "Project Eden". WWWA Trouble Consultants Kei and Yuri team up with a petty thief to stop a mad scientist and his legions of mutated creatures. [IMDb] Suggestions, comments or errors - tell me about it. Enjoy! =============================================================================== 02.) OVERVIEW & CONTROLS G0200 =============================================================================== There are two types of action in this game. Scenes 1 and 3 are side-scrollers where the screen constantly advances as you keep up. Getting stuck in scenery is instant death, and one touch by an enemy is too. Scenes 2 and 4 are more maze-like. Your aim is to find eight (8) disks spread across the entire building and then find the exit afterwards. Enemies still beleaguer certain rooms but they are less of a threat then in the previous stage as they can usually be avoided with ease. There are doors preventing you from getting around which have different opening mechanisms. You only have 2 extra lives to complete the game, no continues. If you die in the side-scrolling stage you have to restart from the beginning, whereas the maze will just let you continue in the same room you died in with no enemies around. Controls: ````````` D-Pad Moves Yuri around A Jump B Shoot SELECT Item selection START Pause Items: `````` Green Bracelet Temporarily invincible. Grenade Throwing weapon, not a very far reach. Gun Stronger shots for around 6 rounds. Perfume Bottle Kei arrives in her vehicle, jump in to use but you still die with one shot. Poison Bottle Kill everything on screen, 50% chance it kills you instead. Heart 100 points Green Star 500 points Red Tiara 1000 points Nanmo (Green Robot) 5000 points Visor ? Vizorium Bar Blocks enemies from walking through, and stops them. Keycard Opens doors Disks All 8 are required to finish the scene Nuke ? Doesn't appear to kill anything if detonated. Enemies: ```````` There are more enemies than the list, but only these are worth mentioning to point out anything special about them: Female Bot Can't be destroyed. Avoid, but rarely seen anyway. Grasshopper Can't be destroyed. Jump over you as you get closer. Red Sparks Explodes when hit, four parts fly in all directions so don't be too close when destroying it. Come in different sizes. Shell Bug Ground enemy, jumps straight up once in a while. Turret Can't be destroyed, but the shots can. Fixed mounted. Hands In Scene 4 only, sometimes disappear into the floor. Jumping Aliens In Scene 2 and 4 these guys always come in pairs. You will know by their jumping behavior. What you need to know is that they come from both sides so before you cross into the next screen, make sure two are visible so they don't suddenly pop up while you leave and kill you in the process. Doors: `````` Scenes 2 and 4 feature many different doors. They aren't super easy to figure out but I made an attempt nonetheless. Here is how to interact with them to get through: / \ | | | | / \ | | Simply walk through these, just make sure you are positioned \ / correctly. | | | | \ / / \ | | \ / / \ | | Press A to open it (i.e. Jump). \ / / \ | | \ | / / \ | | | | | | Press B to open it (i.e. Shoot). | | | | | | \ | / / \ | | | | | | Have a keycard in the inventory to get this opened. | | / \ | | \ | / / \ | | \ / | | | (|) | | Use a keycard to open it. The final door requires 8 disks instead and | | opens automatically. \ | / Sometimes the door a little awkward to use, but keep on trying they should open the way as described above. When you use the card make sure you walk into door after placing it. It may happen that you simply discard it if you do not do the above. =============================================================================== 03.) WALKTHROUGH G0300 =============================================================================== Scene 1: ```````` Scene 1 has four parts, side-scrolling action. It is pretty hard to guide you through this step-by-step seeing that enemies move randomly. Use these maps to plan your way to the items. http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/fds/file/dirty_pair_nes_1_1.png http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/fds/file/dirty_pair_nes_1_2.png http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/fds/file/dirty_pair_nes_1_3.png http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/fds/file/dirty_pair_nes_1_4.png Scene 1-1 you have to step on the flashing block at the end and enemies keep appearing from all sides. Those bug creatures will come out where the block is but you could try to jump over it as there will always be one alone. I've managed to touch the block and the enemy at the same time to complete the scene. Scene 1-2: I guess this is supposed to be confusing, because the blocks here do not actually do anything. You just have to step into the lower corridor at the end to finish this up. Scene 1-3: Be wary of the turrets. As noted earlier you cannot destroy them but you can remove their shots and safely pass. At the end, step on the two blocks. Scene 1-4: There aren't many items in the last stretch as you can see. When you reach the large gate you completed Scene 1. Scene 2: ```````` Here is a map of the entire building: http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/fds/file/dirty_pair_nes_2.png Start out by going right to the main staircase. Go up to the next floor and right into the room with the keycard. Return to the previous floor and go right through the door, using the card to open it. But don't continue this way for too far, instead go back left and drop down into the hole. In this room, go right and grab the first disk (1). Left is the only way to go until you reach another hole. Take it to the basement and grab the keycard. Walk right until you reach the door. Use this keycard to open it and take the second disk in the rightmost room (2). On the floor above, go all the way left as far as you can, you will also see another disk here (3). Return to the previous room and go up the stairs. Follow the path right and grab another disk (4). Time to head back left to the main staircase. Go up to the floor with a green star, that should be three storeys. Walk all the way right to find a nuke. Up the stairs is a disk (5) and in one of the rooms to the left of that is yet another (6). Head back to the main staircase. Get up to the roof, be aware of the female bot on the floor above that will show up after a few seconds, quickly go up to the next floor before she does. Turn left on the roof, the disk is on the left end of the building (7). On the other side of the building is a keycard. Go back down and descend four floors, there is a heart icon here if you haven't taken it already. Walk through the doors to the right side until you find the last disk (8). The exit is just in the room below, only open if you have collected all the eight disks beforehand. Scene 3: ```````` As before, use these maps to plan your way to the items. Remember that there can only be one on screen at the same time so collect the first or let it disappear to the left. http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/fds/file/dirty_pair_nes_3_1.png http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/fds/file/dirty_pair_nes_3_2.png http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/fds/file/dirty_pair_nes_3_3.png http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/fds/file/dirty_pair_nes_3_4.png Scene 3-1: At the start your dog friend will destroy all the sparks. Be wary of the grasshopper mutants that wait for you in this level. At the end just jump into the elevated platforms to move on. Scene 3-2: This one is quite easy but a few jumps. There are many gaps between the platforms which is unusual for what you had to play so far. The tough part is that there are plenty of these mutant grasshoppers waiting in the green patches and often their jump path is just some tiny platform you need to use at the same time. This aside, there are a few of these aliens that want run right into you later on in the level. Finally, not that you can fall through the light gray plateaus that have a lower levels, so if you were planning to stay at the top, jump over it. When the enemies stop coming, get ahead towards the right side of the screen so you can quickly reach the metal bar that ends the level, before any more enemies can pop up from everywhere. Scene 3-3: The white platforms leave room for traps. It is often the case that you are in gap between two and the screen will attempt to squish you. There are tons of enemies coming your way but they can all be shot, only the large spark balls might take a bit longer to defeat but ignorance is always an option. At the end you are treated with an exit door for a change. Scene 3-4: The last side-scrolling action, you should be used to it by now. There are a few things to look out for. As soon as the pink pipes start on the top and bottom, there will be a heart. A grasshopper guards this and will hop just once and plan itself just in front. What you do here is jump to the top platform and then gently slide down grabbing the heart in the process. Shortly afterwards the pipes drop down again, and some enemies will be in the area below. Try to hit them first, then jump over the gray platforms. Note that the tall aliens can jump very high. Soon the path gets narrow. Where the heart is in, watch out for the gap in between the boxes just before that as you will fall down. Similarly, the platform leading to the gun upgrade has a gap. The first long tile has the second part empty. Also if you get the gun you better head back down quickly before you are locked in. There are a few more of these blocks you can fall through but most of them are not too harmful. Enter the tunnel to move on to the final scene. Scene 4: ```````` The map: http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/fds/file/dirty_pair_nes_4.png First get down into the basement for the keycard. Then go up to the fifth floor and grab the first disk (1). Return left a bit and drop through the hole in the floor. Walk right until you need to use the keycard on the door. There is another disk behind it (2). You have already cleared one third of the map now. Go down to floors and left to find a new keycard. Return one floor up and go all the way right. Here, go down to the ground floor and collect the disk in the left room (3) Return right and go up all the way. Collect the disk in the room just on the left (4). Go back down one floor and the left by using a keycard to get through. Grab another keycard as you come across one. At the top of the stairs go left and up again, continue doing so until you find a man standing around. Ignore the guy as he steals any keycard you are holding. He stands still anyway. Instead go right into the room to find another disk (5). Ignore the guy once again as you go up the roof. Pick up the disk on either side (6, 7) and then return to the floor just below the evil guy. Walk right into the room with a final disk (8). Follow this path and the door should open automatically if you have all disks. Jump up in the middle of the device and shoot. It will look like the shots go left but after half a dozen of bullets it will explode. You get a one-screen ending and dumped back to the main screen. That's it. =============================================================================== ZZ.)
