Version 1.15, December 23, 2004: Added descriptions for the item E-Cards and gave a new format for section 3 as well so you could have an easier time reading it. ============ 2. Controls ============ D-pad: Left: Move Mario/Luigi left Right: Move Mario/Luigi right Down: Duck (must be at least Big Mario/Luigi to do this), go down a pipe, slide down slopes Up: Go up a pipe wile jumping, open doors, climb vines, A: Jump, Swim, B (held, going right or left): Run Start: Pause game L: Select an item and use it R: Scan E-Card ----------------------- Controls while running ----------------------- Note while running: If you see a gap one block wide (the block is about the size of a ? block), you can simply run over the gap without falling in the gap, saving some jumping and time. Useful in many situations. A: Jump higher than your normal jump, fly (if you have Raccoon Mario/Luigi), fly higher (if you have Raccoon Mario/Luigi) Down: Duck while running ------------------------ Controls while swimming ------------------------ If you are in the water, do not press anything to sink to the surface. There is no limit on how long you can stay underwater. A: Swim up to surface, jump over the water when at the top Right/Left: Go right/left -------------------- "Advanced" Controls -------------------- These are controls you would not be normally able to do while you are normal or Big Mario/Luigi. These are controls where you must have a suit or Fire Flower equipped. +++++++++++++++++++++++ With Fire Mario/Luigi: +++++++++++++++++++++++ B: Fire Fireballs, run while held ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ With Raccoon Mario/Luigi: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ A: Jump while running, keep pressing A to stay in the air for a short period of time. B: Tail whack. Your tail may strike an enemy next to you. ++++++++++++++++++++++ With Frog Mario/Luigi: ++++++++++++++++++++++ There are no special controls if you are wearing a Frog Suit. A Frog Suit gives you the ability to swim faster and more accurate in the water. You still swim in a Frog Suit by pressing A. With a Frog Suit, Pressing A does not swim you up to the surface. You go straight. You must also use the D-pad to swim in the direction you want. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ With Tanooki Mario/Luigi: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ When you are in a Tanooki Suit, you get the same ability as Raccoon Mario/Luigi, you can still fly in the air and whack your tail to strike nearby enemies. But when you duck (with Down) and press B, Mario/Luigi will transform into a statue for a few seconds! This makes it so enemies can't hit you, but you cannot move while you are a statue. +++++++++++++++++++++++++ With Hammer Mario/Luigi: +++++++++++++++++++++++++ When you are in a Hammer Suit, you will get the same ability as being Fire Mario/Luigi, but you throw hammers instead. These hammers are stronger than fireballs. They can hit any enemy and knock them out. Yes, this includes Boos, Thwomps, and any other enemy you could not normally kill by using fireballs! This is a very useful suit, so don't try to waste this and try to put it to good use. ----------------------------- When Mario/Luigi is jumping: ----------------------------- There are certain things you must know when jumping. Free jump: When jumping off a platform into a gap, you can use left and right to move yourself and have a different landing location. This can be useful in many ways. Diagonal Jump: When jumping up blocks of stairs or some sort, use A to jump and left and right to jump in that direction. This is how you can jump up objects. Corner Jump: If you are jumping to get to a higher platform directly above you, jump off the platform you're on and use right/left to try and land on the block above you. Crouch Jump: When you are ducking, you can jump as well. This can be used to jump and avoid certain enemies, or when you are trying to reach a small place you wouldn't be able to get normally. ================ 3. E-cards List ================ If you buy the game new you should get two "promo" cards. One is the first E- Level "Wild Ride in the Sky" and the other is an item card of a Super Leaf. Insert the Mario Advance 4 game pak into either one of your GameBoy Advances. 2. Now, insert the E-Reader into the other GameBoy Advance. 3. Connect the GameBoy Advance Link Cable between the two GameBoy Advances (the player 1 side must be connected to the GameBoy Advance with Super Mario Advance 4 in it). 4. Now, on any of the world maps in Mario Advance 4, press R, and select the type of card you want to scan (you have to go to World E to scan level cards), and then turn on the other GameBoy Advance. Now, on the E-Reader title screen, press Start and a menu will come up. If this is your first time scanning with this game, go to Scan Card. Otherwise, go to Access Saved Data. Now, on the GameBoy Advance with the game pak in it, select "Ok". Now, swipe the card through the E-Reader (through its dotted side), and it should be scanned completely. If not, try again, and make sure you do it slow and through completely. ================ 5. Walkthrough ================ To go to World E, go to the file select screen. World E will be on the bottom of the list. Things to do in World E: 1. Three Mushroom Houses. All of them are locked. 2. The E-Coin Castle. E-Coins you've collected go here. 3. The tile next to the castle. Select a level you've scanned and play it. 4. The other tile. Use this and press A to switch between Mario and Luigi. ---------------------- 03: Vegetable Volley Advance Coins: 5/5 Difficulty: 2/5 ---------------------- Ah, a fun level where you can use Vegetables from Super Mario Brothers 2. There is also an e-Coin in this level. Note to use vegetables in this level use B to pull out the weeds. Beware, some may come out as Poison Mushrooms. Advance Coin 1: Once you start the level, head right and jump over the first gap you see. Now jump over the next gap and you'll be on a platform with a Mushroom trapped in a bubble. If you want the Mushroom, pick up 3 vegetables off the ground and throw them at the bubble, releasing it. If you don't want it head right and jump over this small gap. Now go right and jump on the higher platform above you. Get on the two "?" blocks (both contain coins), and watch out from the Chargin' Chuck (from Super Mario World). Now jump on the higher platform to the right and get rid of the Koopa. Jump over the gap and go right. You'll see another gap with the Advance Coin in it. The only possible way to get it is to pick up a vegetable off the ground and through it at the Advance Coin. You'll get it. Advance Coin 2: Now jump over the gap the Advance Coin was in and head right. You'll find a pit with 5 "?" blocks. The middle one contains a Mushroom/Fire Flower if you need it. Head right and get on the higher platform, avoiding the Chain Chomp. Jump over the gap and head right. You'll see the Advance Coin in the air. You can jump and get it, which is easy, but if you miss you can bounce off the jumping Chargin' Chuck's head to get it. Advance Coin 3: Head right and get on the slightly higher platforms. You'll come to a "?" block, which has a Mushroom/Fire Flower. Get it and you'll find a pit to the right containing a Chargin' Chuck and an Advance Coin. Avoid the Chargin' Chuck and grab the Advance Coin. e-Coin: Now head right and jump onto the higher platform. Now jump over the gap and head right. Jump over the Spiny pit and you'll notice two vegetable weeds above you that you can't get. To get to them head right. You'll see a Chargin' Chuck. Get rid of it and jump over the gap. Now get in the pit and you'll find a Koopa and another higher platform with a Koopa on it. Get out the higher platform to the right and a Chargin' Chuck will come at you. Bounce off it it's head on this platform and hold left to get on the higher platform with the Koopa. On here, get rid of the Koopa. Now see the wall to the left? Jump against it and hold left. You'll be on the top. Head left and you'll fall in the pit, being able to get the two vegetables weeds you couldn't earlier. Pull out the one on the left and you'll get the e-Coin. Advance Coin 4: To get out of this pit, jump to the right and a magical note block will appear. Hop on it to get back on the roof. Now head right and go back into the same platform where the Koopas were. Now head right and you'll come to a large pit with Spinies in it. Use the vegetables to the right to get rid of them. Then head in the pit and grab the Advance Coin high in the air. Advance Coin 5 + Exit: Head right from the Spiny pit and you'll find another gap with an Advance Coin. Jump over the gap and get the Vegetable to the right. Throw it in the pit and make sure it hits the Advance Coin and you have it. From here, just head right until you get to the exit, and hit the panel. --------------------------- 05: Bombarded by Bob-Ombs Advance Coins: 5/5 Difficulty: 4/5 --------------------------- A fun and interesting level if you know what you're doing. Also this level is an auto-scroller. Advance Coin 1: When you start head right and jump over the first cannon. You'll notice a weird-looking coin that shows how many coins are in this level. You get 3 1-Ups if you collect all 110. Anyway, fall in the pit and get the 3 coins. Now jump over the next cannon and into the next pit. Grab the coins and hit the "?" block for a Mushroom. Go right and you'll come to a big cannon and two smaller cannons. Jump over them and fall in the next pit. Down here, get the 8 coins and the Advance Coin. Advance Coin 2: Head right and get on the higher platform. Now jump in the pipe. Down here head right and get rid of the two Bob-ombs. Now hit the "?" block for a power-up. Head right and you'll come to a cannon shooting out Bob-ombs. Get underneath the platform to the right and grab the Advance Coin. Advance Coin 3: Avoid the Bob-ombs and head right. You'll come to two more areas of Bob-omb areas. Get past them and then you'll come to a cannon. Under it is an Advance Coin. Grab it. Advance Coin 4: There is a triangle of blocks to your right. The one on the right contains a power-up so grab it. Now head right and you'll find a cannon and a warp pipe. But don't go in the warp pipe. You'll notice a small hole to the right. If you're little Mario/Luigi jump in it, otherwise, duck and then jump in it. In here are more "?" blocks with Coins and an Advance Coin. Grab it then head in the pipe to the right. Advance Coin 5 + Exit: You should be running short of time by now. In the pipe head left and grab the Advance Coin. Now head in the pipe to the left. In here you'll have to fight a Boom-Boom. Hit it 3 times to win this level. ----------------------- 07: The Ol' Switcheroo Advance Coins: 5/5 Difficulty: 3/5 ----------------------- Another fun level where you can get lots of coins. Whee! There is also an e- Coin in this level. Advance Coin 1: Once you start the level head right and jump in the waterfall. Trust me, you'll be safe. At the bottom is the Advance Coin. Grab it. Advance Coin 2: While in the water go right onto land (without climbing up). You'll see two blocks completely different from the rest. You can walk through these. Do it and head down the warp pipe. In here hit the P-Switch and run to the end of this path of bricks. At the end you'll see a brick sticking out that you can hit. Hit it then go right. Grab the Advance Coin. Advance Coin 3: Now head in the warp pipe to the right. In here you'll see two coins below a pipe. Grab them before the P-Switch stops and they turn into bricks. Now jump up this pipe. In here you'll see a moving platform to the left. Use it to get to a higher platform. On one of these platforms is the Advance Coin. Grab it. Advance Coin 4: While you're in here use the moving platforms going up and down to get to the top of the room. Up here go left and you'll notice a hole. Jump in it. In here jump up the pipe to the right. Back outside you'll still be in a waterfall. Swim to the top of it and jump above it. You'll get the Advance Coin. e-Coin: Go back to the pipe below the bottom waterfall and leave it. Back in here jump back in the gap. Back down here you'll see two pipes. One to the left and one to the right. Enter the one to the right. Back in here you'll notice a vegetable. Pick it up and enter the warp pipe. While in the warp pipe HOLD B BEFORE YOU COME OUT. IN THIS ROOM DO NOT THROW THE VEGETABLE. In here enter the pipe to the right, holding onto the vegetable. In here MAKE SURE YOU ARE STILL HOLDING B. Now run straight and you will hit the P-switch without having to jump. Now RUN THROUGH THIS BRICK PATH OR YOU WON'T MAKE IT. ALSO DO NOT LET GO OF THE VEGETABLE. Once you get to the end you'll see an e-Coin surrounded by metal blocks you can't get to. Throw the vegetable at it and you will get it. Advance Coin 5 + Exit: Now go in the pipe. You'll be outside next to the waterfall. Go in it and swim up. You'll see the Advance Coin to the right. Grab it. Now head right until you see a wall, watching out for a Koopa. Once you get to the wall start swimming up until you get to the top, then jump out and head right. You'll get to the exit. Now hit the panel. --------------------------- 09: Swinging Bars of Doom Advance Coins: 4/5 Difficulty: 4/5 --------------------------- Advance Coin 1: From the start head right until you get to a firebar. Once it gets out of the way head right and you'll get to a Thwomp. Ignore it and head right more. You'll see a Twimp. Ignore it and get to the "?" block. Hit it for a power-up, and grab it. Now jump on the higher platform and get the Advance Coin to the right. Advance Coin 2: Now drop down to the floor below you. Down here head right and go past the pipe. Now jump onto the higher floor. Then when the fireball goes back in the lava jump over the lava pit. On here you'll see the Advance Coin onto of the circle of a swinging bar. When the timing is right grab it and get out of the swinging fire-bar's way. Advance Coin 3: Now head right and jump over this lava pit. Now jump over this lava pit. Over here there will be a higher and lower path. Take the higher path and stay on it. Avoid the swinging fire-bars while you're at it. Now follow it to the Advance Coin. Once you get to it grab it. Advance Coin 4: From the third Advance Coin you'll see a gate pointing right. Go through it. Now get past this swinging bar and get past the Thwomp too. You'll see a higher platform with a swinging bar to the right. Get on it. Now get on the higher platform to the right. On here jump in the gap. Down here you'll see the Advance Coin to the right and an opening leading to it. If you jump in the opening an invisible block will appear where you jumped. Find all four and then go left and get out of this gap (jump on the blocks leading up). Up here jump down into the small gap. Down here jump into the gap below you. Now get the Advance Coin to the left. Exit: Once you grab the Advance Coin you'll fall down into a gate leading down, putting you back in the same gap. Get out of it by climbing the blocks to the left. Back up here run right and avoid the fire-bars (don't fall in the same gap). Now get on the lower platform to the right and avoid the fire-bar. Now get on the next lower platform. On here get on the lower platform to the right. On here open the door to the right. BOSS BATTLE!!! You have to face TWO BOOM BOOMS! Yeah, that's right. Two. To win the level hit them both 3 times. Beware, one flies after you hit it for the first time. If you have a Fire Flower keep firing fireballs at both of them until they both get knocked out. Otherwise stomp both of them 3 times carefully. One hint is to hit them the second they get back up after they are stunned. Good luck. Also use the higher platforms for protection. -------------------------- 10: Para Beetle Challenge Advance Coins: 5/5 Difficulty: 5/5 -------------------------- An annoying level where you have to use Para Beetles to cross the sky. If you want them to go up, stay on them and they will go up. If you want them to be lower in the air, keep jumping on them and they will be pounded lower into the air. Both of these will be keys things into winning the level. Advance Coin 1: Once you start the level head right and you'll come across the first two Para Beetles. The coin is high in the air. Use them to get the Advance Coin. Advance Coin 2: Now, keep using the Para Beetles until they start getting higher. Once they start getting higher you'll see an Advance Coin in the air. Grab it. Advance Coin 3: Now as you progress through the level the Para Beetles start getting higher in the air. As they start getting higher you'll see an Advance Coin which can be easily accessed. Grab it. Advance Coin 4: Now the Para Beetles start going left to right again. Get on them. Then you'll see an Advance Coin in the air that's too high for you. So to get it stand on one of the Para Beetles and they will go higher in the air. Once it is high enough grab the Advance Coin. Advance Coin 5: Now get on the lower Para Beetle. Keep jumping on it so it doesn't go higher. Now keep riding it until you see a platform of blocks. Now get past this and you'll come to another platform of blocks. Below it is the Advance Coin. To get it keep jumping on the Para Beetle to get it low enough so it is below the platform. Once it is low enough grab the Advance Coin. Exit: From here you'll get to another platform. Grab it. Now once you go more right Para Beetles will be going right to left and the auto-scrolling starts to get a little faster. Don't lose your balance and jump across all the Para Beetles fast enough. If you make it you'll be next to a pipe. Go through it. In this room is the exit. Head right and hit the panel to exit the level. =========== 6.
