INTRODUCTION ********************* =============== a) Story =============== The description below is taken directly from the back of the box: "You are Araka, a Dispatch Coordinator for the Paranormal Defense Force (PDF). You support PDF agents Ishika and Honori, twin priestesses with tons of shamanistic talent and an even larger penchant for trouble. Together Ishika and Honori are as cute as they are clumsy. Ishika is far too sweet a girl to ever effectively use her stupendous skills at spell-casting. While super strong Honori jumps blindly into battle before ever knowing what she's getting herself into. Help Ishika and Honori regain the totem spirit creatures that fuel their psychic powers and defeat the masters of paranormal evil!" While that description defines your role fine, it lacks any real substance of the actual plot. One day, Ishika and Honori are called away to a small village to investigate reports of the citizens there randomly going mad. Upon searching the area, they discover one of the Eight Evil Spirits that arose from the grave of the Great Serpent Yamatano-Orochi -- the Aragami. Aragami defeats Araka, Ishika, and Honori and seals both Ishika and Honori's totem spirits. The totem spirits fuel Ishika and Honori's powers, and thus the group is greatly weakened without them. Narrowly escaping with their lives, the group is sent off to train themselves and retrieve the stolen totem spirits. This is where the meat of the game begins. How things unfold is ultimately up to you. ================ b) Characters ================ There are five key characters in Ishika & Honori, and they will each be briefly profiled here. [Ishika] Ishika is one of the two twin priestesses that you, as Araka, are Dispatch Coordinator over. Ishika possesses powerful magic abilities that even frighten her sister Honori. Ishika is generally very sweet and tender-hearted, but seems to have a strict streak when it comes to keeping Honori in line. Ishika is soft-spoken and not really into the current trends, but instead seems to appreciate the simpler things in life. [Honori] Honori is the Ishika's twin, and the other priestess that Araka oversees. Honori is brutally strong, evidently even capable of vanquishing some spirits with her raw power alone! Honori lacks Ishika's magical prowess, though she is certainly no slouch herself. Unlike Ishika, Honori is very outspoken and often talks before even thinking. A bit rash, she seems to be a magnet for trouble. Honori loves shopping and being out in the city atmosphere. [Habaki] Habaki went to the priestess academy of sorts along with Ishika and Honori. However, Habaki could never keep up with Ishika and Honori's incredible talent in spite of how much she studied or trained. Embittered, she joins up with Aragami when he offers her power. Though the three priestesses were distant friends at the academy, Habaki seems determined to throw that away in favor of power, vying desperately for recognition. [Araka] Your character, Araka, is the Dispatch Coordinator for the Paranormal Defense Force (PDF). Araka oversees Ishika and Honori's training and acts as their commander of sorts while engaged in missions and battle. Araka comes off as a real pro, though one who's a bit too obsessed with his work. He knows very little outside of his work simply because he's practically always working. Between managing the phones, paperwork, and missions themselves, Araka is always swamped. However, just how far those close to him can worm their way into his heart is up to you. [Aragami] Araka says that Aragami is one of the Eight Evil Spirits that arose from the grave of the Great Serpent Yamatano-Orochi. It seems that I've heard that name before, so it's probably linked to some kind of Japanese mythology, but I'm really not sure as to the specifics. What is certain is that Aragami has his own agenda and he doesn't like Araka and co. interfering with his plans. Aragami uses Habaki as a tool to carry out his will to destroy Ishika, Honori, and Araka. Aragami is very powerful, being far too much for Araka and the others the first time they encounter him. ================ c) Controls ================ There isn't really much in the way of controls in this interactive DVD. The choices you'll get to choose from in this game come in the form of battle. When Araka and co. get into a battle, you'll be able to select Araka's method of attack by opting for him to directly attack (presumably a physical attack with that blade of his), utilize a magical attack, or to defend himself. As odd as it may seem, it is your selections in combat that will determine how the plot progresses. It IS possible to lose in some situations as well, but even by failing against the final boss, you only get the "bad" ending. In "Ishika and Honori," you will never see a game over screen, which is good if you're easily frustrated. But there's plenty of shortcomings to this method of play. First of all, since these are the ONLY selections in the game that alter plotline, you'll have no real sense of control. The plot will move along in a set pattern according to what you choose during what fight, but without a FAQ such as this one to refer to, you will have absolutely no idea what these choices are actually affecting. In a sense, this is a game without much feel of control, which really hurts it. Nonetheless, it's a fun distraction for the short while it lasts. Plus, with this FAQ, you can avoid all the pointless password fishing and choice hunting that I was forced into. This FAQ will let you treat the game more like a movie, in a sense...but of course, it will also take away what little feeling of control you might have had in the first place. Be mindful that this guide will direct you pointedly on what to say to get to where you want to be. If you have any intention of exploring this game yourself, I urge you to stop now. If you just want to blow through the game and see what it has to offer without wasting time, then this is where you outta be! ********************* III. FAQ/WALKTHROUGH ********************* Here's the real meat and potatoes of this guide. This is what you're here for in all likelihood. Obviously, the main purpose of this FAQ is to hold your hand and walk you through the battle decision points of the game. All passwords and correct choices are covered in each battle to attain the desired character's ending. The desired choices are denoted by asteriks (*) on each side of the listed choices. For example, in battle 1 (which is the same in every plot), the correct choice is listed as *Magic attack wins*. The astericks on each side of the choice indicates that this is the correct choice to continue along the path to that character's ending. I've also noted any and all branch points just in case someone decides that they want to shift in the middle of their play-through (provided they haven't gone too far). For instance, if a player is pursuing Habaki's ending and reaches battle 4, but decides they instead want to pursue Honori's ending, they can easily see that they still have an opportunity to get her ending. These branch choices are boxed in to make them more apparent. Now let's get crackin'! ============================ a) ISHIKA Walkthrough [ISH1] ============================ _________________________ / \ | BATTLE 1 | | PASSWORD: 19 | \_________________________/ Direct attack ineffective ***Magic attack wins*** Defend ineffective _________________________ / \ | BATTLE 2 | | PASSWORD: 24 | \_________________________/ Direct attack ineffective Magic attack ineffective ***Defend wins*** _________________________ / \ | BATTLE 3 | | PASSWORD: 32 | \_________________________/ =HONORI, HABAKI, & GROUP= =ENDING BRANCH= Direct attack X2 wins Magic attack ineffective =ISHIKA= =ENDING BRANCH= ***Defend X2 wins*** _________________________ / \ | BATTLE 4 | | PASSWORD: 72 | \_________________________/ Direct attack ineffective ***Magic attack wins*** Defend ineffective _______________________________ | | | !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | !FINAL BOSS! | | !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! | | PASSWORD: 86 | |_______________________________| --------------------- ROUND 1 --------------------- Direct attack ineffective ***Magic attack wins*** Defend ineffective --------------------- ROUND 2 --------------------- ***Direct attack wins*** !!BAD ENDING!!
