INTRODUCTION G0100 =============================================================================== Welcome to 'DS Dengeki Bunko ADV - Baccano!' for the Nintendo DS, released by Media Works in 2008. The game is a visual novel and your main interactions are gamebook style choices to make which end up with alternative endings, and some action sequences where a quick stylus draw is required (very limited and easy). The game is only in Japanese and there is heavy reliance on Japanese knowledge overall. There are many terms used that are not so common sense and the series is based in the 30s (1930s) so furigana are often used as a reading aid to support kanji. BASICS G0200 =============================================================================== Controls: ````````` Not much I want to mention in particular, only that a single press on R will advance the ext, and holding down the R button will auto-play. VERY IMPORTANT if you want to get through the story without getting arthritis! It is a really long story... =============================================================================== 03.) WALKTHROUGH G0300 =============================================================================== Before you try to play all the alternative (or "IF" how the game calls them) endings you need to first play the normal story. * Ending 01: [鈍行]編 [Donko/Slow Train Scenario] Remember that you must finish the first scenario to unlock the other scenes for other endings and always watch the entire scene to continue. If you click the clock icon during a scene and return to the slot overview it will not count and you have to watch it again. There is a long introduction to the story background and it will still be a while until the train actually has issues for you to make decisions. Sit back and read the story, auto-play helps a lot here. The game will introduce you to several options such as character screens and compartment choices, and just before you get to make your first story choice there is an introduction to that too. The "clock" symbol lets you return to the cart overview, and watching one scene will in turn unlock another (also don't forget about the introduction scenes) time slots and carts. The time is the time period of the hour slots, not the actual time of the scene. The scene will take place in that hour slot (there are some exceptions as you will soon see). The choice scenes are clearly marked with the blue branch icon. Keep in mind that the guide below is for the choices only. You still have a lot of watching to do for sections where there is no choice. They will flash in red. The little blue arrows on a cart represent characters you can view the story for. For example, the dining cart at 19:00 has a scene for Jacuzzi and Nice and only one has a choice to make. You can use the "Search" button to see what is new to watch. The scene that follows obviously already has one scenario and if you are not careful to spot the big "CAUTION" sign then you will fail and get a game over screen. Thankfully you can continue right before this event. Simply draw a line across the screen as pointed out and you will see why you just drew it if correctly. You will notice the top (or rather left) screen will display a different story mode (特急編). New time slots with new stories will start to pop up now under the "特急" tab of the scene index, and of course some will have decisions. There are also two choice scenes for the same character in the same time slot so note the exact time on your left screen. I have not listed the exact scenes because they do not have choices and as far as I remember not even action parts so just watch it and then the loooooong scene at the end results in another ending. * Ending 3: 小気味 After this ending you get introduced to the IF scenarios that do not continue to the "True End" by making different choices. Each ending starts with a choice somewhere and then you will have to continue through more scenes (most without choices to make) until you get to see the end of that scenario. I only list the choice scenes and not the actual flow again. The endings below are obviously listed in Ending order so not the best way you want to go through them all as you will lose progress of the main story, so if you beat one you have to replay with the main story flow (either normal or express scenarios).
