Izuna 2 FAQ/Walkthrough by Informed_User Copyright 2013, for hosting on GameFAQs only. If you have questions about this guide send me a private message about it. Table of Contents: Intro/FAQ Walkthrough Intro/FAQ: Izuna 2 falls into a unique category of games that I like to call "Gimick Dungeon-Crawlers". You fight your way through a, usually one, large dungeon while having to deal with some kind of gimick or handicap that makes it hard to progress fast. The gimicks in this game are, first, that you can't exit a dungeon by walking back out. You have to reach the end, find an item called a Kikan, or die. The second gimick is that if you die or turn off the power while in a dungeon you will lose all of your weapons, items, and money. You do get to keep your levels even if you die though. So try to avoid dying and DON'T TURN THE GAME OFF INSIDE A DUNGEON! Get out of the dungeon and save at an inn before turning off the game. Oh...and watch out for game freezing glitches, if you use a tag attack in a room with 10+ enemies the game may freeze, forcing you to turn the power off. Some board users have also reported the game freezing if left idle long enough to cause the DS to enter sleep mode. Have fun... FAQ: Q:Does this game have any missables? A: The only missable in the game is photos. There are some people you only have one chance to get a picture of. Most bosses you encouter after getting the camera you need to take a picture of before you beat them. Also the photos of the following people are missable:Mitsumoto, Gen-An, Kagen, Shuuchi, Utsuho, Takushiki, Tsuki, Himiko, Hinagiku. Q:How do I get more film for the camera? A:You have to find it in the dungeons. Your odds of finding film are better in the later dungeons, i.e. Mugen Castle and Zecro Ravine. There is no reward for getting all photos and it will take a very long time to get enough film for all characters and enemies, so be warned. Q:What do the many status ailments do? A: Fear makes you lose sp fast. Paralyze makes you unable to do anything for several turns. Sleep makes you unable to do anything for several turns but wears off if you take damage. Poison makes you lose hp fast. Sealed stops you from using talismans. Eternity stops you from being able to switch to your other character. Sweaty makes you take off your equipment and stops you from putting it back on. Confused makes you move and attack in random directions. Forgetful makes you drop items on the ground. Deception makes the enemies turn into much more powerful versions of their type for a few turns. Reverse makes you move in the opposite direction. Anchor stops you from moving for a few turns. Excited increases your attack. Darkness limits your vision. Slow lets most enemies move twice for every one move you make. Haste lets you move twice for every one move most enemies make. Curse reduces exp gained. Evil makes you take damage from healing items. Shoulder Ache stops you from using thrown items or lifted items. Float makes you float over traps/items/stairs. Using the stairs to the next floor removes all ailments. You can also switch characters to instantly remove most aliments. Q:What does leveling up do? A: Despite the game always showing your attack as 5 if bare-handed, leveling up increases hp,sp and your attack power. Your defense stays the same and you need to wear equipment to increase it. Q: What should I do to make the game easier? A: Early game you probably need to level-grind a bit and have a large supply of healing items in your inventory. After reaching the later dungeons you can find haste boots that let you move twice for every one move, most, enemies make. Use the boots to stay out of melee-range of enemies and switch the boots to a ranged weapon when you are a few spaces away from an enemy. You can also use the boots to keep away from enemies while waiting for your tag attack to charge up. Q: My equipment just broke, what happend? A: All equipment in this game has limited durability. The durability decreases when you attack or take a hit while using that equipment. When the durability reaches zero the equipment will crack. Cracked equipment will break and disappear forever if you keep using it without getting it repaired. Also, if you stick too many talismans on the equipment, more talismans then the item has sp, the equipment will crack and then break right away. Go to a blacksmith often to get your equipment's durability restored. Q: How much item space do you get? A: You can carry 20 items in your inventory. You can store up to 60 items, 6 pages, in a storage building. Items in storage are safe even if you die. Stick a kikan on your equipment to have it sent back to storage if you die. Just make sure you leave some space in storage for your equipment. Walkthrough: I repeat "DON'T TURN THE GAME OFF INSIDE A DUNGEON! Get out of the dungeon and save at an inn before turning off the game." Most of the dungeons in this game are randomized so providing floor maps or directions is impossible. The game starts with a cool intro, with Japanese voice acting, and then you must explore a tutorial dungeon. Or you can skip it, but I don't recommend that if have not played this game before. Tutorial Dungeon: You fight some basic enemies and Shino teaches you about the game controls. Hold L+R to pass time without moving, use it to heal before going down stairs. The tutorial ends after reaching the north of floor 3. Suirei Town: Talk to all the townspeople and then rest at the inn. After resting walk across the bridge in the southeast to start the wedding. Shino disappears after the wedding and you have to find her. Talk to Ichika in the southwest to learn that Shino may be in Amakusa Cave. Before going into the cave use the shop in the southeast to sell stuff and use the extra money to buy a couple healing lights. Use the northwest storage to store your excess items and money. The blacksmith in the northeast can repair your equipment later. The entrance to the cave is in the northwest of town. Amakusa Cave: Monsters:Bean Bunnia Marumon, Hikari, Frogun, Hard-Hat Mole, Jabadillo, Boar, Bald Shadow, Rock-Head, Nurikabe, Chibi Marimo, Gale Puncher, Drowsy Shroom, Fresh Heads, Ittan Momen, Tentaball, Talisbeast, Taddun. Equipment:Steel Claw, Giant Claw, Quandary Claw, Demon Claw, Vampire Claw, Sword Defender, Leek, Bokken, Haja Blade, Bronze Arm, Kagutsuchi Arm, Leather Boots, Steel Boots, Mannequin, Razor Yo-Yo, Long Bow, Angelic Bow, Talismans: Kikan, Rekka, Mikagami, Zoufuku, Fukugen, Fuuma, Ten'i, Kaishin, Jinrai, Reppu, Suimin, Fukusei, Items: Kunai, Shuriken, Caltrops, Light Pill, Darkness Pill, Charm Pill, Charge Pill, Awakening Pill, Sleeping Pill, Bamboozle Pill, Bomb, Smoke Bomb, Iron Arrows, Twin Arrows, Angelic Arrows, Artemis Arrows, Likeness of Pochi, Likeness of Suiren, Likeness of Mother, Purifying Flame, Light of Healing, Light of Grace, Light of Divinity, Panacea. The game's first real dungeon, it has 10 floors. Don't try to get to floor 10 on your first few visits. Instead focus on gaining some levels and grabbing some equipment for Izuna. I recommend having Izuna use Claws since they boost both her attack and defense. Use the Kikan talismans you find in the dungeon to escape after you have cleared a few floors. Beware of the Frogun eggs, don't hit them or they will release a powerful monster, Taddun, that you should avoid early in the game. On floor 10 you fight the game's first boss, Baldur. Baldur: 7600hp 185at 10df 50exp You should be at least level 10 before trying to beat this guy. He will simply chase you and try to punch you to death. If you have fire pills you can throw them at him to damage him for 1000hp per pill. This guy is pretty easy as long as you brought a bunch of light of healings. Keep your hp above 250 so you can survive his special move that he uses every few turns. After beating Baldur, Shino rejoins and teaches you about Tag Attacks. Press select to switch characters. Hold down the L button and press select to use a Tag attack. The Tag Attacks vary based on which pair of characters you use and which character is active. At this point you can choose a 2 character team of Izuna, Shino, or Mitsumoto. I like to use Izuna and Shino. I have Izuna use Claws and Shino use a Throwing Disc. The Tornado tag attack that occurs with Shino active and Izuna in reserve is good for clearing a group of enemies. Be careful though because some tag attacks don't work very well in hallways. Back in town talk to Toujiro to get directions to Ikoi Forest. Ikoi Forest: (I list new stuff only.) Monsters:Red Lantern, Departed Soul, Chirp-a-Doodle, Daigoro, Bedhead, Stabadilo, Mergirl, Cold Wind, Entangleball. Equipment:Cat Claw, Orochi Arm, Shingan Blade. Talismans:Kou'un, Mikiri, Hayate. Items:Heavy Pill, Piercing Arrows, Dragon Arrows, Likeness of Izuna, Likeness of Shizune, Likeness of Fuuka, Picture of Hell, Light of Blessing. A short forest dungeon with only 5 floors, 6 after you help the miners. The monsters here are a bit stronger then the ones in Amakusa cave. Bring a couple of Kikans with you in case you need to escape. You can help the miners on floor 5 if you have a fire pill. You can sometimes buy fire pills from the shop in Suirei. After getting through the forest you can access Asahi Village. Asahi Village: This town has only an inn and storage building. Talk to the old woman in the center of town. You get a quest to find a missing boy. Go back to Ikoi Forest and you will fight the boss King Wolf on floor 5. King Wolf: 8250hp 200at 0df 50exp The fight is pretty much the same as fighting Baldur. Be at least level 15 and bring a lot of healing items for an easy fight. Beating the boss saves Yu and lets you take him home. After talking to his grandama you get a camera from Yu and the gallery is unlocked on the menu screen. Press and hold the "Y" button to focus the camera on something and then press "R" to take a picture, you need film in your inventory to take a photo. If you want a complete gallery then don't take any pictures yet. Save your film for upcoming bosses and certain characters. Go to the next dungeon, Kannagi Mountain. Kannagi Mountain: Monsters:Honome, Vampire, Shiranui-kun, Hammurabi, Citzen Guard, Ittan Kenpu. Equipment:Exorcism Claw, Baku Claw, Izanagi Arm. Items:Wooden Arrows. This is another small dungeon, 6 floors. Watch out for the floating fire balls, Shiranui-kun, their close-range special attack will destroy a talisman in your inventory. Use a tag attack or ranged attacks to stop them from getting close. On floor 5 the miners will need your help to fight off some monsters. After clearing the mountain you can access Kamiari Village. Kamiari Village: This village has everything, shops, blacksmith, inn, storage and even a shop for buying talismans. Talk to Takechiyo in the southeast and then go up the northern stairs. Himiko at the shrine will tell you to go to the next dungeon, Kamudoi Shrine. Kamudoi Shrine: Monsters:Homura Spider, Fire Puncher, Mouse Thief, Firework Artisan, Japanese Doll, Taros, Supaa Marimo, Bang, Steel Boar, Dextaur, Lone Wolf, Kappa, Dynamite Froggun, Mutterfly, Rosemary, Tako Sashimi, Bandage Man, Dynamite Taddun. Equipment: Weapon Breaker, Zantetsu Blade, Asura Blade, Petrified Bow, Yoichi Bow, Boomerang, Izanami Arm, Haste Boots. Talismans:Ashikase, Gouka, Michi, Seijyaku. Items:Staff, Likness of Suzuri. The shrine is the longest dungeon yet, 15 floors. You will encounter the first bomb enemies here, Bang. Bangs explode and damage you if you kill them with a normal attack while they are standing nearby. They don't explode if you use tag attacks and can't hurt you from a distance. You will also encounter the first butterfly type enemy here, Mutterfly. A Mutterfly can reduce your level by 1 at close-range. Use tag attacks or ranged attacks to kill them before they get close. On floor 15 you must fight the Red Burberry. Red Burberry: 11500hp 315at 0df 50exp A slightly stonger version of the King Wolf. He has a strong melee attack but no real tricks. Be at least level 25 and bring plenty of lights of grace or blessing. Take a picture of this boss if you want a complete gallery. There are a bunch of one-time-only pictures after this boss so keep your film in your inventory. After beating the boss you are returned to Kamiari Village. The gathering at the shrine is your only chance to take a picture of: Mitsumoto, Gen-An, Shuuchi, Kagen, Utsuho, and Takushiki. The game makes an inn save after you beat the Red Burberry, so you can safely reset the game if you make a mistake while taking pictures during this event. To proceed with the story, talk to all the gods to recruit them. You will now have 6 new characters you can use in the dungeons, however the new characters will all be level 1. After getting your new team members you must go back to the Kannagi Mountain dungeon and clear it again. After you get through that dungeon a second time you can reach Tsukikaze Village. Tsukikaze Village: This village only has an inn and storage building. While walking through the village a child named Tsuki will tell you to go to Madoimi Cave. Take a picture of Tsuki now or you will not be able to get it later. Leave the village and go to Madoimi Cave. Madoimi Cave: Monsters: no new monsters. Equipment:Mole Claw, Dragon Claw, Musou Blade, Barrage Bow, Chakram. Talismans:Tsukumo, Yami-Uchi. Items:Dragon Arrows, Film. This dungeon is 15 floors. The monsters are all the same as what you fought in Kamudoi Shrine. On floor 15 you must fight 2 bosses at once. Alte and Stella: 9000hp 515at 0df 50exp each. The twins are pretty strong and you should be at least level 30 before trying to beat them. Alte's special does damage and inflicts shoulder ache. Stella's special move hastes herself. Get into a hallway right away so you don't get hit by both of them. You need to take a picture of both Alte and Stella to get their gallery entries. After beating the twins some major story events unfold and you lose access to Shino. If you have been using Shino and need a replacement, you might want to use Utsuho since he can equip boots and throwing discs. Talk to Ina back in Tsukikaze Village to learn of your next destination, Ninigi Forest. Ninigi Forest: Items:Likness of Shino. A 10 floor dungeon with no new monsters and no boss. After getting through the forest you can access Mugen. Before going to Mugen you may want to go back to Kamiari Village and talk to the two miners in the southwest. Mugen: This city has an inn, storage, blacksmith, and talisman smith. If you helped them in the earlier dungeons and Kamiari Village, the two miners will be building a bath in the northwest of Mugen. The miners will ask for a Dragon Claw, which you can get inside Mugen Castle. Talk to all the townspeople and then go through the north gate to enter Mugen Castle. Mugen Castle: Monsters:Karakasa Boy, Usurahi, Desperate Fish, Anemic Apple, California Roll, Cane Shadow, Hidden Clam, Cursed Mirror, Burning Wind, Vampire Apple, Harmful Shroom, Shadow Clam, Toe Biter, Mac Slime, Tea Pot, Weapon Breaker. Equipment:Gigas Bow, Action Figure, Doppelganger. Items:Likeness of Mugen. A big 20 floor dungeon with lots of new enemies. The most annoying thing here is probably still the Mutterflies who drain your levels. If a Karakasa Boy removes a talisman from your equipment you can just stick it back on. On floor 20 you must fight Anima. Anima: 18000hp 750at 0df 50exp This boss is pretty easy, she only has a melee attack and no special moves. Be around level 40 and bring a bunch of healing items. Take her picture if you want it. After you beat Anime you get Shizune and Shino in your roster. Shizune has a tag attack with Izune that heals both characters, but I still prefer Izuna and Shino. If you helped the miners enough you can access the bath now. During the bath scene blow into the DS's mic, lower left corner, for an extra bonus scene. Leave Mugen and go to the next dungeon Hirume Tower. Hirume Tower: Monsters:Akamaru, Language Barrier, Cluck-a-Doodle, Akaname, Red-Eye Soldier, Evil Spirit, Mermaid, Fatpire, Puppet Artisan, Taro, Ankle Biter, Kamikaze Fish, Akaneburi, Joke Scarecrow. Equipment:Houshin Blade, Susano-o Arm, Enma Arm, Unholy Boots, Crimson Lotus, Artemis Bow, Marionette, Straw Doll. Talismans:Yuukon, Seikan. Items:Burn-in Flame. A 20 floor tower dungeon. Now would be a good time to get some haste boots either from here or Mugen Castle. Having the boots will help you reach the stairs to the next floor fast. The boots can also help make the boss here much easier. On floor 20 you must fight Corona. Corona: 22000hp 950at 0df 50exp This is the hardest boss in the game due to her special moves. She has two specials that she can use, one only does some damage, the other damages and paralyzes. Being paralyzed means she can hit you two more times. The way to beat her easily is to equip haste boots, to keep your distance, and use long range tag attacks. Shino and Izuna's tag attacks hit all enemies in a room. If you can see Corona on your auto map, red dot, you can damage her with a tag attack, as long as neither you or her are in a hallway. If you want to try beating her without haste boots you should be at least level 50 and have a lot of healing items, 10+. After beating Corona you will once again lose access to Shino. Talk to the old woman in the northeast of Mugen to learn the location of the next dungeon, Misasagi Cave. Misasagi Cave: Monsters:Konoha Tengu, Foreman Mole, Mightaur, Wasabbit, Cursed Scarecrow, Kodama, Ittan Nylon, Karakasa Man, Katsubi-san, Boulder-Head, Raging Wolf, Cursed Scarecrow, Tartaros, Talisoul, Chaos Mirror, Bully Slime, Jade Pot, Wrapped Man, Flitterfly. Equipment:Wheel of Steal. A 20 floor dungeon cave. Watch out for the Katsubi-san and Talisoul. At close-range the Katsubi can burn two of your tailmans or likeness. The Talisoul can zap your levels. You will have an easy boss fight with Shino on floor 10. Take her picture to get her enemy data. After beating her you can use her again. on floor 20 you have to fight the real boss, Grimla. Grimla: 25000hp 1050at 0df 50exp Grimla is much easier then Corona. Use haste boots to keep your distance and unleash a bunch of tag attacks on her. She has a close-range special that does 2100+ damage, but you can avoid it easily by keeping your distance. After beating Grimla you need to talk to all the people in Mugen and then talk to Shizune behind the inn. The Zecro Ravine dungeon becomes available. Zecro Ravine: Monsters:Tako Wasabi, Grade-A Shroom, Over-Easy Heads, Demon Claw, Haunted Doll, Mouse Boss, Kurayami Spider, Boom, Bonfire Lantern, Red-Eye Colonel, Gwappa, Wormhair, Takoyaki, Assasin Statue, Spicy Roll, Karasu Tengu, Agonizing Wind, Scrambled Heads, Karakasa God, Mimimaru. Equipment:Masamune. Another 20 floor dungeon and the last dungeon of the main story. There are lots of enemies in this dungeon who can confuse you, switching characters will remove confusion. On floor 20 you fight the last boss, Abyss. Abyss: 27900hp 1200at 0df 50exp You can beat this guy easily just using haste boots to keep your distance. Use ranged and tag attacks and the prince will not be able to hit you. After beating Abyss you have won the game. You get the group hug image added to your gallery. There are 3 post-game dungeons you can try after finishing the main story. Go back to Mugen and walk behind the inn to find a hole leading to the Mugen Chasm. In Kamiari Village, walk behind the god's shrine to find the Girls-Only Cave. To unlock the Gankutsu Shrine, talk to Ina in Mugen and then Kakuji who will also be in Mugen if you helped the miners. After talking to Kakuji go back through Ikoi Forest to find the talisman. Show the talisman to Ippitsu in Kamiari Village. Go back to Mugen and show the talisman to Ina, you will be told to keep it. Go to Suirei Town and use the talisman on the patch of dirt on the north side of town. You can now access the Gankutsu Shrine, your inventory must be empty to enter. The post-game also has four new charcters who can join in addition to Gen-An. Talk to Hinagiku in Mugen and she joins. Talk to Himiko and Suzuri in Kamiari Village and they both join. Talk to Ichika in Suirei Town after you get access to the Gankutsu Shrine and she joins too. Mugen Chasm: You get to keep your items and levels in this dungeon but have to fight the strongest monsters in the game. Girls-Only Cave: You can only use female characters here. You get to keep your items but you will always start at level 1 in this dungeon. Your ability to get through this dungeon will depend on your equipment, i.e. haste boots really help. Gankutsu Shrine: The hardest dungeon in the game. You can't bring any items and your level always starts at 1 inside. According to GameFAQs board users this dungeon is 100 floors and has no bosses. Since this is mostly a luck-based dungeon there is little advice I can offer, hope you find some haste boots or other good equipment early, good luck.
