Other notes/Tips FOREWORD =================================================== This FAQ is submitted only and only to GameFAQs. If you find this on any other site, it's plagiarized. This FAQ also uses Japanese text, but only as a reference guide so that you can compare the text in-game to their corresponding skills here. This will most likely NOT be an in-depth FAQ, but more as a one-glance FAQ for players. HISTORY =================================================== September 10, 2011 v1.0. Was playing the game, and felt the need for this specific game mechanic. I'll keep the format simple and easy to use. I don't plan on updating this soon, but will eventually finalize it when I finish the game, where I'll have better and updated info. GLOSSARY ==================================================== Direct Attack: Attacks initiated by a unit that is within 3 tiles of a target unit. 3-unit parties will engage in a direct attack regardless of range of each party member from each other or each enemy unit. The only requirement is that the target unit must be within 3 tiles of the unit initiating the attack. All party members will participate in combat regardless of whether or not there are valid targets for them within their range. Combat: When the enemy is displayed on the top screen and your party members in combat are displayed on the touch screen. Enemy combat lasts 1 (one) round, while player combat lasts for as long as there's an enemy standing, or either the player or the enemy flees from combat. Proficiency: Skills in this game have a Type and Proficiency. Types are Ability, which are passive; Arts, which are active and consumes MP; Magic is also active an consumes MP; and Extra, which is restricted to Leader units and do not consume MP, but requires a full EX bar to activate. Skills rank up and improve as you use it or as it activates depending on whether it is active or passive. ENGAGE ==================================================== First off, what is Engage, exactly? Well, it's a system peculiar to ASH that enables you to sort of "cannibalize" generic summon units (or the generics) in order to enable you to "pass down" skills from the summon unit to the Leader unit that raises them. I say "raise", because these generic units will need to spend time and gain experience under their Leader before that Leader can Engage them for their skills. As to the specifics of raising them, I am not privy to this knowledge, but as soon as I figure it out, I will update this FAQ as required. Once you get to the Engage screen, it will show at the top a Leader unit (usually Aisya), and the generics at the bottom. Click the Down arrow to choose the Leader. Valid generics have their names lit up, the rest are grayed out. Once you've chosen the Leader unit, drag the generic unit to the Leader panel, and a list of valid skills will appear. On the left side is Ability, or passives 「アビィリティ」and on the right are Magic 「マジック」. Arts are specific to class, and Extra is learned from NPCs, hence they cannot be passed. You can't choose them anyway. Also, the top screen will reflect what stat bonuses you get from the generic character, depending on class and level(?). These bonuses are marginal at best, but might improve on higher levels (cannot confirm at the moment). You can drag any one (1) Ability or Magic from the generic's repertoire to the 3 slots available on the Leader unit, and it will ask if you want to proceed. Skills not on the list cannot be passed so naturally you will only be able to drag skills that can be Engaged. Clicking YES 「はい」will fix that skill on your Leader, and the generic will vanish. THAT GENERIC IS PERMANENTLY GONE. The generic's equipment will return to your item pool, so you don't lose them. Upon activating in combat, the attack fails (the attack name shatters), rendering that unit unable to attack that turn. Acquired from: Battler (lv1) Note: This skill is useful for Leader units you want to protect, but I have not tried whether Emiu can learn it or not. Aisya definitely can. Name: War Cry Type: Ability Description: Upon activating, this ability draws enemy attention and is more likely to target the skill user. Acquired from: Battler (lv10) Name: Life Aura Type: Ability Description: Max HP is increased by 100. Upon reaching 100 proficiency, Max HP increased by 200. Acquired from: Monster Mage (lv18) OTHER NOTES/TIPS =================================================== As to writing, I cannot confirm if skills learned from Engaging generics can be overwritten or forgotten, but I assume they are, as there are only 3 slots per Leader, and along the way you may want to learn better skills. Also, there are some details about the skills that I have yet to confirm for myself, and will take time to confirm as most require reaching 100 proficiency (like Soul abilities) and whether the bonuses appear gradually or is a one-time big-time bonus as you reach the required proficiency. It may be to the player's advantage to try to Engage as many skills as they can to Leader units. However this also has some cons, in that you lose a unit with proficiencies in their skills. Also, try to get the skills that are appropriate for the Leader's class. Double Attack is very good for Physical Attackers, so Aisya and Dan will definitely benifit from it, as is Attack Cancel. You could also slap a Heal or Healra on spellcasters, so that you can keep your summon units alive better. Remember, death for summon units are permanent if not revived in the same mission. I'm not sure if death is even reversible after a few turns. =End of File= copyright ferofax2011 all rights null and void, save for maybe a few, at my discretion.
