Instead of a trainer, you are the one training. Yes, you are indeed the Pokemon in this game. This game takes place in the world of Pokemon wreaked by unstable climate changes and catastrophes which upset the balance of the world. As a rescue team, you are required to put a stop to these changes and yet save Pokemon at the same time. Good luck! +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- |G|a|m|e| |B|a|s|i|c|s| |3G| +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- The game is extremely different from any Pokemon game you will ever play. This game follows a turn-by-turn basis, just like Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy. It is set up in a way like Digimon World 2 for PS, with grids as the field and traps and other obstacles which don't require you to overcome, but provides shortcuts to your goals. Before I begin, I shall talk about each dungeon floor. On each floor you will find a variety of different things. I will list them here. However, you will only see traps besides the Wonder Tile after the storyline. Also note that traps do not disappear after triggering it. These are some examples. Traps: Wonder Tile -> More of a helpful thing. This makes all changes to battle skills (Attack, Defense, etc) back to normal. It is a green arrow on a metal tile. Pitfall Trap -> Likely one of the more useful traps. This trap causes whoever stepping on it to fall down a level. Recruited pokemon will leave, your partner will leave, etc. HOWEVER, if you drop down it, you will go down a floor for 5 damage. Cheap shorcut, huh? It is characterised by a criss-crossing net over a hole. Pokemon Trap -> More of the annoying ones. This turns all unclaimed items into Pokemon which are in the same room. It is a trap with a question mark in a circle. Chestnut Trap -> This trap, when stepped on, drops chestnuts on the one who tripped the trap, causing 10 damage. It is a few chestnuts on a tile which represents this trap. Self-Destruct/Explosion Trap -> This trap is represented by a Voltorb and Electrode respectively. It does damage, destroys terrain and items. Sticky Trap -> This trap is represented by a paint tube. When triggered, it makes an item sticky, meaning it can't be used unless a Cleanse orb is used to remove its stickiness, if not leave the dungeon. Affects hold items if team members trigger the trap. Grimer Trap -> Represented by a grimer on a tile. Makes any food item Grimy, meaning that it will cause many different effects. Abuse it wisely, cause it can fill your belly and if you go up/down a floor, bad effects disappears. Obstacles: Walls -> Most common obstacle. Ghost pokemon, Mobile Scarf, Mobile Orb and Super Mobile can allow the weilder to walk through walls. Lava -> Causes burns when stepped on (Even with mobile scarf) Water -> Only Water pokemon or those with the mobile scarf/mobile orb/super mobile/All-Terrain Hiker can traverse this type of tile. If you have played DW2 before, you will remember that you can't stay in a floor forever as your enrgy will run out. In PMD, it is Belly which runs out. Belly is like your energy level which can be filled up by food (apples) and will decrese slowly while resting or walking. Be warned. Belly decreases faster if the Mobile Orb/Mobile Scarf is used to walk through walls. Fortunately, two items can decrease or even stop the Belly from decreasing. They are the Stamina Band and Tight Belt. However, the Tight Belt is a rare item and will require a Wonder Mail code to get if you haven't finished the storyline. Each rescue team has 2-3 members and at most 4 at any one time and most not exceed 6 body. What is body? Body is the size of the Pokemon. Most pokemon will have 1 or 2 body which can be checked by going to the Summery screen, but most legendary Pokemon and some bigger Pokemon have 4. You can only recruit pokemon as long as they stay withen these 2 limits PP. Unlike the previous games, you will find your PP decreasing faster as every move has much less PP. Fortunately, Max Elixers restore all the PP for moves to the fullest. Rescue missions have replaced the past games' Trainer Battles and Gym fights. Rescue missions consist of 4 differnt types. They are Escort, Locate, Find and Deliver. To accept a mission, you must first accept it from your mailbox or the Bulletin Board outside the Pelipper Post Office. Then you must go to job list and accept it again. When you leave for a mission the one marked with an envelope is your mission destination. Escort missions require you to escort a level 1 Pokemon to a specific pokemon in the dungeon to a specific floor. Locate missions are the easiest, with the client asking you to look for an item in the dungeon. To cheat here, just find the item beforehand and use an escape orb once you enter that dungeon. Find missions are harder. They require you to locate a Pokemon in the dungeon on a specific floor. Deliver is the most frustrating. You have to deliver an item to the client on a specific floor of the dungeon, BUT you won't know the client unless you checked the request beforehand and memorised it (I never do). Rescue missions can be done simultaniously but not on the same floor. For example, you can do 4 Find Squirtle missions in the same dungeon as long as they are on different floors. You can't do a Find Squirtle and Find Totodile mission both on floor 3, for an example. Once you can do rescue missions, you can do them at anytime to collect items, raise levels, earn rewards or just raise your rank. They are a good way to level up, if a tad irritating (go through Mt. Steel 8 times over and see if you enjoy it). Storyline missions are marked with a "Go" when you leave town. Storyline missions always wait, so you can take your time. These are the ranks: Normal Rank - 0 Rescue Points Bronze Rank - 50 Rescue Points Silver Rank - 500 Rescue Points Gold Rank - 1,500 Rescue Points Platinum Rank - 3,000 Rescue Points Diamond Rank - 7,500 Rescue Points Lukario Rank - 15,000 Rescue Points This game, you don't Catch pokemon, you Recruit them. Each pokemon has a Recruit %. This value can range from -33.9% (Kecleon) and lower (Impossible to recruit) to 99.9% (Jirachi), assuming that the Friend area for the pokemon you want to recruit is in your possession. The other modifiers are your Pokemon's level and the Friend bow. The Friend Bow adds 10%, while your Pokemon's level adds the respective amount: Leader Level Recruit Rate Bonus 1- 29 0.0% 30- 39 5.0% 40- 49 7.5% 50- 59 10.0% 60- 69 12.5% 70- 79 15.0% 80- 89 17.5% 90-100 24.0% [taken from] [http://db.gamefaqs.com/portable/gbadvance/file/pokemon_fnd_red_pokedex.txt] At this point in time I cannot comfirm if your rescue rank helps in recruiting pokemon. To add, you must also have enough space in your party (empty party space, enough size). You can't recruit a 4 body pokemon if your team contains 3 body as the maximum is 6. The leader must also get the final blow and must be adjacent to the pokemon (I can't comfirm if being diagonal over corners consider "adjacent") IQ. Unlike the past games where you control the pokemon, the computer AI controls your pokemon mainly. Therefore, IQ is really its literal meaning in this game, Intelligence Quotient. This Quotient can be raised by eating Gummis of different names which correspond to its type. Pokemon gets a higher IQ increase if its fed with a gummi which correspond to its type(s). If you give gummis to your teammates in their friend areas, they will get a much needed stat boost too! Moreover, with added IQ, they learn IQ skills, which I refer to as Passive skills (No immediate effect on the Pokemon). For example, Trap Avoider makes the pokemon avoid visible traps. Lastly (and finally), Linking moves. This has become a sort of Combo effect. Gulpin or a Link Box can link moves together to create devestating combo attacks. Imagine Screech+Body Slam! Screech decreases defense while Body Slam paralysis. Gulpin also allows you to remember moves, so you can mix and match movesets. Linked moves will take 1 PP from each move linked together (meaning, screech and body slam will lose 1 PP each) and the link is broken when one move reaches 0 PP. Therefore, linked moves are only useful in Boss battles mainly. +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ |C|o|n|t|r|o|l|s| |3G1| +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ These are for BLUE rescue team (DS). After that they will ask you to chose a partner. This partner can't be of the same element as the pokemon assigned to you. There are 16 starters and 10 partners. Only after the storyline can you switch leaders and partners and catch all the starters. You may, however, restart the game until you get the desired pokemon. This is the personality chart: Pokemon: Male Personality: Female Personality: Bulbasaur Docile Calm Charmander Hardy Brave Squirtle Jolly Relaxed Pikachu Impish Hardy Meowth Quirky N A Psyduck Relaxed Lonely Machop Brave N A Cubone Lonely Impish Eevee N A Naive Chikorita N A Docile Cyndaquil Timid N A Totodile Naive Jolly Treecko Sassy Quirky Torchic Hasty Sassy Mudkip Calm Timid Skitty N A Hasty Note that chosing Male or Female as your gender has no effect on the game whatsoever at the point of time this guide was written. After you're happy with your starter, you can pick your partner (A plus side) which, already mentioned, can't be of the same element of your starter. Therefore, I reccommend you pick a partner which conflicts your starter in elements for a well balanced team (If you got Torchic for starter, a grass or Pikachu for partner). This game you will be forced to name your pokemon and partner ONLY, so pick a good name. ******************************************************************************* Walkthrough 5W ******************************************************************************* The way to use this walkthrough is as such: Dungeon Floors: Number of Floors Required Items: Required Items (HMs) Suggested Items: Suggested Items Eg. Apples, Max Elixers, etc Overview: What to expect. Guide: Walkthrough Information Aftermath: What happens after Without further ado, let us begin our pokemon journey! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! --------------- 5W1 Tiny Woods --------------- Dungeon Floors: 3 and Objective Floor [4 Total] Required Items: None Suggested Items: None Overview: The first dungeon you encounter contains very simple Pokemon who are weak in general to your attacks. Just be careful of getting trapped and read the tips as they come along. Guide: This dungeon opens to you after you find yourself in the pokemon world. A Butterfree will say that her Caterpie fell into a crevice. Your partner suggests that the both of you go into the dungeon to rescue him. The first 3 floors of the dungeons consists mainly of simple and weak pokemon which you should try to get a level on. After going down 3 floors, you will reach the fourth floor where you will find Caterpie and get him to safety. Aftermath: Butterfree will then give you a reward and your partner will suggest you go with him and he will let you have a place to rest and to save. This new place will become your Rescue Team's Base (unfortunately, it is the only outpost). Your partner will then explain about the Mailbox. You will also be requested to name your Rescue Team. After that is done, your starter (shall I just use "you"?) will wake up groggy, so go back to sleep and when you leave the Base, you will see your partner (he greets you everyday). Open the mailbox for your Toolbox, your badge and some Poke News and your first official mission. --------------------- 5W2 Thunderwave Cave --------------------- Dungeon Floors: 5 floors and Objective Floor [6 total] Required Items: None Suggested Items: Try to get your hand on some Oran Berries and an Escape Orb Overview: The second dungeon which is almost as easy as the first. This one requires you to navigate your team down 5 floors where you have to untangle some Magnemite. Guide: When you head to Thunderwave Cave, you will be told that 2 Magnemite got stuck together in the depths of the cave, so you must venture down. Pay careful attention to your belly as the longer the dungeon, the longer your belly must sustain. This dungeon is still very simple and I don't think will pose much of a problem for you. Aftermath: After saving the Magnemites and getting your reward, you will go into dream world. Pay attention as I don't want to spoil plots. After watching, you will be awoken and your partner will give you a tour of the town. Stop by Persian's Bank to deposit unneeded Poke (they get lost if you are defeated) and store unneeded items at Kangaskhan's storage. Then head over to the Bulletin board for a side mission. Try to complete a few as doing so will give you chances to collect much needed items (Oran Berries, Escape Orbs) and catch up on levels. After some side missions, you will be awoken by an earthquake from your dream and Dugtrio will say that his baby Diglett was captured by Skarmory to the top of Mt. Steel! -------------- 5W3 Mt. Steel -------------- Dungeon Floors: 8 and Objective/Cutscene/Boss Floor [9 Total] Required Items: None Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Escape Orb, Apple, Gravelrocks Suggested Level: 10+ Overview: Diglett has been held hostage by Skarmory. You have to scale Mt. Steel and rescue Diglett from him (funny, kinda weird how Diglett can actually by taken in Skarmory's claws when you never actually see a Diglett/Dugtrio's full body) Guide: Some may find this dungeon challenging, so some leveling beforehand does wonders. This dungeon is home to Aron and a number of rock type pokemon, so do take note if you're weak against them. Boss Guide: Your boss is... (dramatic music) Skarmory! (Gasp!) How typical. Anyways, if you got a fire starter/partner or Pikachu, this is in the bag. Skarmory is weak to both Fire and Electricity, so abuse its weakness. Alternatively, you can use Gravelrocks which does 20 damage on contact, although I'm sure Ember and Thundershock hurts more. If you have no added advantage in type, then just use your best moves and if they do less then 20 damage, chuck gravelrocks. Linking moves if you somehow got a Link Box can be useful here too. Aftermath: Do more missions (kinda boring, I agree). On a better note, Friend Areas have been unlocked and Magnemite will join you immediately. Yay! After some more missions, Caterpie will look for you, saying that Metapod is stuck in Sinister Woods and you need to rescue him. However, this time another Team is racing with you. They are Team Meanies (and surprisingly, are rescueing people when they should be meanies). Not much of a big deal, just level up more. The mission always waits. ------------------- 5W4 Sinister Woods ------------------- Dungeon Floors: 12 and Objective/Boss Floor [13 Total] Required Items: None Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Escape Orb, Apple, Gravelrocks Suggested Levels: 13+ Overview: A dungeon filled with mainly Grass pokemon, a cinch for Fire pokemon. At the end of the dungeon lies your first Team Boss Fight. Not much else to really be wary of here. Guide: Bring Magnemite, your Friend. This dungeon spans 12 floors, so take note of Belly. Also note that if your friend dies, he will go back to his friend area. If you recruit a pokemon and that dies, he will disappear into oblivion, with his clone found on the same floor. Just take the opporunity to recruit some more pokemon and if you are well levled, it isn't a big problem. Team Meanies Boss Fight 1: Yay, the 13th floor is a slug it out war! Anyways, this is easy if you have another teammate (Magnemite, for example). None of them are very lethal. For a headstart chuck a Gravelrock at them before they move. Aftermath: The next day when you go to the square you will see Jumpluff begging Shiftry to help save another Jumpluff. Shiftry reluctantly agrees and do more missions until Jumpluff asks you for help. ----------------- 5W5 Silent Chasm ----------------- Dungeon Floors: 9 and Objective/Cutscene Floor [10 total] Required Items: None Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Escape Orb, Apple, Gravelrocks Suggested Level: 14+ Overview: A dungeon which, surprisingly, is easier than the last. Since this dungeon has less floors, use this oppertunity to recruit more pokemon and collect items, especially Escape Orbs. (I ran outta those after I finished the game, spent a few missions trying to find a few) Guide: This dungeon is very simple. 9 floors of Pokemon and a Cutscene floor, less than the last dungeon. This is an interesting place, but not of much significance. I have only visited this place once and never went back for optional missions, but maybe you might. Aftermath: After reaching the 10th floor, (dramatic music) Shiftry will be captured by Zapdos! Go back to town square and Alakazam will suggest a Co-Op rescue attempt to save Shiftry. Complete some more optional missions (the next dungeon is tough) and continue. ---------------- 5W6 Mt. Thunder ---------------- This will be your first major boss dungeon, so I will add more info. Dungeon Floors: 10 floors Mt. Thunder, Mid-Point Save (11th), 2 Mt Thunder Peak floors, Objective/Boss/Cutscene Floor [13 Floors Total, 1 Save Point] Required Items: None Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Gravelrocks, Apples, Cheri Berries Suggested Levels: 19+ (The more the better) Suggested Pokemon: Electrike (Thunder Rod Ability, never tested but useful) Magnemite (Zapdos is still a flying type) Tips: Do some leveling on the 10th floor as the next floor is a save point. The save point replenishes all PP and Belly, so its a very good spot to try and level. Notes: You cannot recruit Zapdos until the storyline is over. Overview: Tough dungeon as compared to the last few you've done. I had to take 3 attempts just to make the mid-way point. Dont bother using Thundershock or any lightning attacks here for that matter. Electrikes and Manelectrics Thudner Rod prevents usage of these attacks. Guide: Tough. All I can say. Never use lightning attacks cause it is pointless due to the Thunder Rod ability of the pokemon found here. Stick to normal attacks. Bring Cheri Berries to cure Paralysis and a number of gravelrocks. Zapdos Boss Guide: Painful. Zapdos is a flying and electric type. Meaning that Electric attacks will still do some fair amount of damage. If you have rock or electric attacks, start firing. Electrike or Magnemite is useful as Electric attacks do less damage and Lightning Rod can save your pokemon from Zapdos' Electric Attacks. If you can't do more than 20 damage with one attack, use Gravelrocks. Heal when necessary and you should be quite okay. If not, just shut off the power and restart (assuming you saved at the save point). Aftermath: Zapdos leaves and you can rescue Shiftry. Alakazam come's and covers for you. Alakazam will then tell you that your leader (you!) is indeed a human in a pokemon form and suggests you head off to Great Canyon to meet Xatu. ----------------- 5W7 Great Canyon ----------------- Ploy to pun Grand Canyon? Dungeon Floors: 12 floors with Objective/Cutscene Floor [13 Total] Required Items: None Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Escape Orb, Apple, Gravelrocks Suggested Level: 19+ (Make it as high as possible, you'll see soon enough why) Overview: Your group has decided to see Xatu. This canyon is not that difficult, but try to collect some much needed items and stuff as you will not be near a shop for a long time after this. Guide: This is basically a simpel dungeon. If you have completed Mt. Thunder, you should be capable of handling the Pokemon here. Try to level up if you can. Aftermath: When you reach the top, a comical scene will begin. Just watch the scene carefully, it is very very important to the storyline. After the scene, the next day go to the Pokemon Square and watch the scene. After that, head to Whiscash's pond to hear the Ninetales Legend. Pay attention. I believe if you don't wanna continue with the storyline just yet, don't listen to the story. When the story ends, you will go back to bed to sleep. After you wake up, head to Town Square for a mutiny to begin. Gengar will start accusing you of screwing up the Pokemon world (literally, duh!) From this point on, you are fugitives. Alakazam will give you a day's head start. After that you will go back to sleep. If when asked you are ready, say no and go deposit your money and store or get the items needed (likely Reviver Seeds). Then talk to your partner and u will go. No friend will help you in order to keep them safe. --------------- 5W8 Lapis Cave --------------- (No its not Lapras Cave) Dungeon Floors: 14 Floors [14 Total] Required Items: None Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Escape Orb, Apple, Gravelrocks Suggested Levels: 19+ Overview: Simple cave to lose your trackers. You will see some Dragon types here, but you can't access the friend areas, so don't bother recruiting. Guide: Do you really need this? Okay, here it is. 1) Locate stairs 2) Go Down Repeat from step 1. Aftermath: You and your partner will feel tired and want to rest but the pursuers are tracking you down. You rush on to Mt. Blaze, home to, yes, you guessed it, Moltres!) -------------- 5W9 Mt. Blaze -------------- There are two dungeons of choice here. Use the Kanghaskan Statue to save. One is Rocky Path, a 4 floor dungeon for you to collect items and level up. If you leveld up sufficiently, forget about this Rocky Path. Dungeon Floors: 12 floors Mt. Blaze, Mid-Point Save (11th), 2 Mt Blaze Peak floors, Objective/Boss/Cutscene Floor [15 Floors Total, 1 Save Point] Required Items: None Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Gravelrocks, Apples, Rawst Berries, Pecha Berries Suggested Levels: 20+ (The more the better) Suggested Pokemon: Electric Pokemon or Water Pokemon. Gravelrocks a must. Tips: Do some leveling on the 12th floor as the next floor is a save point. The save point replenishes all PP and Belly, so its a very good spot to try and level. Notes: You cannot recruit Moltres until the storyline is over. Overview: A dungeon filled with burn inducing lava. You will notice that some pokemon knows Smog and other poisonous attacks, so bring Pecha Berries. Once again, abuse the fact that there is a mid save point. Guide: This is a somewhat tough dungeon. Don't use fire attacks much as Growlithe and some other fire pokemon absorb the fire attacks. Try not to get trapped by Pokemon and kill those who can indue Poison fast. Boss Fight: Moltres Moltres is one HOT COOKIE! This boss is no cakewalk. Be very cautious as Moltres can burn you. Always have an Oran Berry ready and try to hit hard and fast. Once again, Electric and Water Attacks help a lot. Throw Gravelrocks if you have enough to. Don't be daunted, but don't take long, or burn will affect you. Aftermath: After the fight, Moltres will attempt to roast you (quite literally) and your partner will start to explain what is happening. With that, Moltres lets you pass, on the promise that you save the world (don't worry, you will with this guide) ------------------ 5W0 Frosty Forest ------------------ Articuno got run over by Ninetales, what a joke! Articun lies in the depths of this forest (not a mountain, which is WEIRD) Once again, there are 2 dungeons to chose from. Use the Statue to save and pick Snowy Path only if you need items or levels. If not, proceed to Frosty Forest. Dungeon Floors: 10 floors Frosty Forest, Mid-Point Save (10th), 4 Inner Frosty Forest floors, Objective/Boss/Cutscene Floor [15 Floors Total, 1 Save Point] Required Items: None Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Gravelrocks, Apples, Escape Orbs Suggested Levels: 20+ (The more the better) Suggested Pokemon: Electric Pokemon or Fire Pokemon. Gravelrocks too. Tips: Do some leveling on the 10th floor as the next floor is a save point. The save point replenishes all PP and Belly, so its a very good spot to try and level. Notes: You cannot recruit Articuno until the storyline is over. Overview: Articuno's nest. Every 5 floors you will hear voices, but don't worry. Its not something which will affect you (except maybe make you chuck your NDS down the rubbish chute). Guide: Filled with Ice and other Ice type mix pokemon, this is a cinch for a group with Fire pokemon. Even so, this can be tricky. Occasionally you may meet Hail or Snow, so be careful. Other than that, it is quite similar to all your other Mt. Climbs. Boss Guide: Articuno Icey! Seriously, Articuno is no easy opponent. It can Powder Snow (hits both your members), so attack it hard and fiercely. Electric and Fire attacs do good damage, so do gravelrocks if you have them (although maybe less). Use the same tactics and heal when neccessary. Whatever you do, kill Articuno fast. The longer the battle, the harder it gets (imagine getting spamemd by Powder Snow) Aftermath: Your partner will explain, but Articuno has a cold heart (literally?) and wants to freeze you into icicles. Fortunately, Absol comes by and prevents this. From this point on, Absol joins your team (much needed back up) and you will trek on. Halfway, you will see an apparition of Gardevoir and you will follow her intructions to Mt. Freeze. --------------- 5WA Mt. Freeze --------------- Once again, 2 choices of dungeons, although don't bother with Snowy Path, its the same. Save and continue. Dungeon Floors: 15 Mt Freeze Floors, Save Point (Mid), 4 Mt Freeze Peak Floors, Objective/Cutscene Floor [20 Total] Required Items: None Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Gravelrocks, Apples, Escape Orbs Suggested Level: 20+ Notes: Absol joins you Overview: A frosty dungeon assumedly run over by Ninetales who chased Articuno out (resulting in Articuno in Frosty Forest). Poor Articuno. Anyways, following Gardevoir's instructions, Absol choses to join you to find Ninetales who could shed some light on the situation. Guide: This dungeon can occasionally have very large dungeon floors, so bring some extra food. As long as you leveled up sufficiently (farm exp at the floor below the save point), you can breeze through this dungeon, more so with Absol's help. When you reach the top, Alakazam's team will challenge you (Pfft I could destroy them in an instant). Unfortunately, you can't as the fight is controlled. Ninetales will interrupt the fight and will explain that you aren't the cursed pokemon. You will learn more about the curse and Gardevoir will appear to you, but an earthquake occurs and Groudon awakens. Alakazam will head off to stop Groudon. Aftermath: When you return to town, Pelipper will deliver a note and everyone will hate Gengar instead. Continue doing Rescue Missions until Gardevoir appears in your dreams again. The next day Wynaut will request your help. With this, accept the mission on the Bulletain Board and head off to Upraor Forest. The mission is called "Punish Bad Mankey". ------------------ 5WB Upraor Forest ------------------ You have a boss at the end of this, but I don't think you need help with that. Dungeon Floors: 9 Upraor Forest, Objective/Cutscene/Boss Floor [10 Total] Required Items: None Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Gravelrocks, Apples, Escape Orbs Suggested Levels: Mid 20s Notes: This place has loads of Green and Grass Gummis, so you might want to come here to get those. Overview: A very simple dungeon as long as you managed to breeze through Mt. Freeze. Nothing extremely dangerous, just remember to collect Chestnuts on floor 9. Guide: This dungeon is likely the first you will see Sandstorm as a wheather effect. Anyways, this dungeon is very simple and for 9 floors you should not have much problem. Once again, remember, COLLECT CHESTNUTS. You will thank me later. (No e-mails, please). You will find Mankey on floor 10 Boss Fight: Mankey X3 You can't possibly have difficulties with this fight. If you do, even if you did win, you need to level. By now, if you have a long range attack like Shock Wave or Flamethrower, use it to start off, then an AOE attack like Thunderbolt once all 3 come close. Its way to easy as long as you've prepared. Aftermath: When you return to see Wynaut, the Mankeys will show up and see the chestnut Wynaut gave you. The offer to help renovate your base in return for 3 chestnuts, but since Wynaut already gave you one, you only have to find two. These Chestnuts can only be found in Upraor Forest 9th FLoor, so you might want to do some Rescue Missions which go there. Then the base is complete, the Mankeys will destroy it just to rebuild it again. It resembles the head of you, so try not to get disgusted too much. Soon, there will be a meeting in the Pokemon Square and Blastoise, Octillery and Golem will volunteer to go down to rescue Alakazam's team. After a day or two, they come back badly injured. Your partner will then give an inspiring speech and everyone will swallow their fear and head down to challenge Groudon (of course you'll be the ones doing it. When did Lombre and Shiftry dare step into a place filled with lava?) ----------------- 5WC Magma Cavern ----------------- Dungeon Floors: 23 floors Magma Cavern, Mid-Point Save (24th), 1 Magma Cavern Depths, 1 Cutscene Floor, 1 Objective/Cutscene/Boss Floor [27 Total, 1 Save Point] Required Items: None Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Gravelrocks, Apples, Escape Orbs Rawst Berries, Pecha Berries Suggested Level: 27+ Suggested Pokemon: Bring a Water Pokemon as it will make life 10 times easier. I didn't and it was tough! Make sure it can at least use Water Gun. Notes: 1) Groudon only joins you after the storyline. He has a recruit rate of -10%, so bring along a friend bow to have a better chance. 2) Unlike the other dungeons, this has only 1 floor of pokemon after the Save- Point. Overview: A cavern inhabited by mainly fire, rock and ground pokemon. It is extremely difficult to complete this dungeon without some sort of Water type Pokemon (I did). My suggestiong is to bring along any water type you can find, even mixed water types. Guide: The dungeon is filled with Pokemon which will finally prove a challenge if you haven't been leveling. Treat this like the Indigo Plataeu in R/B/Y/G/S/C. You may find some Onix and Steelix a few levels before the save point, so utilise it to level a bit. I did and it was quite worth the time. Magma Cavern Depths Floor 2 This floor, you will see Charizard and Tyranitar who inform you that Alakazam is still battling Groudon. Magma Cavern Depths Floor 3 You will see Alakazam telling you to back off, butbefore you can, Groudon appears and a flash of light later, Alakazam is gone. The battle starts here. Boss Fight: Groudon I hope you are prepared. You need a Grass or Water type to even STAND A CHANCE against Groudon. If not, be prepared for a slug it out brawl fest, with Groudon winning most likely (he has waaay more hp than you three have together). Anyways, I hope you brought gravelrocks, cause they are a life saver. If you have a Pikcahu, try to get Groudon to aim for him, cause Static would paralyze Groudon, earning you about 2-3 rounds of non-retaliated attacks. If you do manage to survive and beat Groudon, you should almost be able to tackle the last of the dungeons in the storyline. Aftermath: Groudon will disappear after you destroy him. Alakazam will appear on the floor and the 5 of you will leave the dungeon together. Amid the celebrations in Pokemon Square, Xatu uses his psychic abilities to warn everyone. "A meteor is heading towards us!" You must now head over to Great Canyon to see Xatu and save the world! (again) -------------- 5WD Sky Tower -------------- The final storyline dungeon. Good luck! Dungeon Floors: 25 Sky Tower Floors, Save Point (26th), 9 Floors Sky Tower Peak Objective/Cutscene/Boss Floor [35 Total, 1 Save Point] Required Items: HM Fly or Pokemon with Fly (after storyline) Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Gravelrocks, Apples, Escape Orbs Suggested Levels: 30+ Suggested Pokemon: Try to get an Ice Pokemon. He'll do wonders! Tips: If you cant find an Ice Pokemon, bring along Pokemon which can learn Ice Beam. Overview: Pure chaos. After landing on Sky Tower from Great Canyon, you will encounter 34 floors of Ghost, Dragon and Aerodactyls. To make matters worse, Ghost pokemon can walk through walls. Guide: This is possibly the toughest dungeon yet in terms of annoyance, not level of Pokemon. You face Shedninjas here, a ghost pokemon which takes no damage from moves with aren't super effective and 1 damage from normal attacks. Shedninja is weak against Fire, Flying, etc (It's a Ghost and Bug type). You also see Aerodactyl, whose Pressure ability causes your PP of a move used to decrease by 2. You also see your first monster houses here (a monster house is a room filled with monsters). Hope you have a thunderbolt ready. If that didn't make matters worse, you have 9 floors to traverse after the save point. Boss Fight: Rayquazza Tough. All I can say. Rayquazza so far has only used Dragon Claw and Dragon dance on me. If you have Attract, use it. If you have Thunder Wave, use it. If you have Ice attacks use it. Don't hold back. You might even want to consider bringing Link Boxes just to finish this Rayquazza off. This is no walk in the park. Try to win (imagine 9 floors of pure chaos again). Ice Beam works wonders and maybe a few shots of it would give you the win. Aftermath: Dream on, I'm not spoiling! ******************************************************************************* Post-Storyline Events 6M ******************************************************************************* After the storyline (congratulations on beating the game, mind you), you get to access different events which only occuer AFTER the game. For starters, you now have different types of traps in this game. They will be added later, but don't be surprised if you encounter them. Secondly, you can now change the leaders of your rescue team. When you first attempt to leave, your partner will suggest that you can chose your leader. Select Yes and you can chose which pokemon you want to be your leader. Very useful. Finally, you can now evolve. Which happens to be the next section! ------------------ 6M1 Luminous Cave ------------------ An area in the Whiscash Pond gets struck by a meteorite. This causes a cave to open which allows a pokemon to evolve. To check if you can evolve, you may check the Pokemon's Summery on the Team option in your menu and tap to the last page which will tell you about evolution. Somtimes, level is not the only thing which affects Evolution. Take note, evolution is not reversible. Here are the items which are required to evolve some pokemon: Sun stone is found on Solar Cave 1, 10 and 16 (Gloom -> Bellosom) Moon Stone is found on Solar Cave 1, 10 and 16 (Skitty -> Delcatty) Water Stone is found on 29th floor of Northwind Field (Evee -> Vaporean) Thunder Stone is found on 29th floor of Lightning Field (Pikachu -> Raichu) Fire Stone is found on 29th floor of Fiery Field (Vulpix -> Ninetales) Leaf Stone, Upgrade and King's Rock are found on floors 13, 26, 33, 41, 49, 59, 65, 71, 78, and 83 in a Kecleon Shop with a chance of 11.11% each (rounded Up) and on floors 88 and 93 in a Kecleon shop with a chance of 25% each. All shops are found in Wish Cave. Deepseascale is found on floor 25 of Grand Sea (Camperl) Deepseatooth is found on floor 15 of Grand Sea (Camperl) Beauty Scarf is found on floor 59 of Western Cave behind a locked door [Key required] (Feebas) Dragonscale is on the 29th floor of Wyvern Hill [Key Required] Seadra -> Kingdra Link Cables are found behind any locked door as long as a copy of the item behind the locked door is owned. Solar Ribbon is found on floor 20 of Wyvern Hill [Key required] (Evee -> Espeon) Lunar Rubbin is found on floor 20 of Northwind Field [Key Required] (Evee -> Umbreon) Metal Coat is found on floors 49 and 50 oh Southern Cavern. However, for some evolution, you may need two items (Link Cable and Dragonscale for Kingdra, an example). Also, sometimes you must have certain IQ requirements (Evee to Umbreon requires 4 IQ stars). --------------- 6M2 Solar Cave --------------- Dungeon Floors: 20 floors Solar Cave [20 Total] Required Items: None Important Needs: Pokemon capable of fording water (Water Types or those with IQ skills Super Mobile/All Terrain Hiker) Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Gravelrocks, Apples, Escape Orbs, Keys (For HMs), Cleanse Orbs Dungeon's Uniqueness: HM Dive on floor 10 (should be given to you by Whiscash, so a Link Cable is in its place) HM Waterfall on floor 15 (for Waterfall Pond) HM Surf on Floor 20 The above Hms all require keys. Keys can be found in the dungeon itself. Notable Pokemon: Girafarig (F 1-4) Suggested Levels: 27+ Oerview: Possibly your first post-storyline dungeon. Follow these steps to open this area. 1) First Talk to Medicham 2) Then talk to Lombre 3) Then talk to Whiscash, who should give you Dive. Guide: You must come here to proceed with the game. Just head down to the 20th floor and get Surf FIRST. If you find a key, use it to get Surf. Don't waste it on other HMs here as they are not needed (you should already have Dive). You need Surf to access the rest of the post-storyline events. ------------------- 6M3 Waterfall Pond ------------------- Dungeon Floors: 19 floors Waterfall Pond [19 Total] Required Items: HM Waterfall or Pokemon who knows Waterfall as move Suggested Items: Oran Berries, Reviver Seeds, Gravelrocks, Apples, Escape Orbs, Cleanse Orbs Notable Pokemon: Mudkip (F 1-3) Lotad (F 1-3) Surskit (F 4-7) Barboach (F 1-5) Corphish (F 6-12) Feebas (F 16-19) XX Red Exclusive XX Squirtle (F 8-12) Suggested Levels: 27+ Overview: Just your normal dungeon to recruit Pokemon! ******************************************************************************* Section 7 7R ******************************************************************************* This section is the post-storyline walkthrough. Due to the vast number of floors these dungeons will have, this is how to use the guide: Dungeon Floors: Number of Floors in the Dungeon Requirements: The requirements to enter this dungeon Misc Requirements: Anything else to take note. Important Notes: Notes like rare items and such Suggested Levels: The suggested Levels Suggested Items: The Suggested items Suggested Pokemon Types: The Suggested Pokemon Types, apllicable to those with different Terrain, etc Overview: Guide: Without further ado, let us begin! ------------------------------------ 7R1 Howling Forest [Sky Blue Plains] ------------------------------------- Dungeon Floors: 14 Floors, 1 Cutscene floor [15 Total] Requirements: Possesion of Sky Blue Plains Friend Area Misc Requirements: Nothing Important Notes: None Suggested Levels: 30+ Suggested Items: Reviver Seeds and such. Suggested Pokemon Types: Any will do Overview: First thing's first. Here is a wondermail for the Friend Area. Sky Blue Plains Client: Baltoy Objective: Escort to Spearow. Place: Tiny Woods B3F Difficulty: D Reward: Friend Area Wonder Mail: 2 ? 0 N 1 3 + ? ? 3 6 R M T ? R 8 4 2 0 M X ? W Complete it and on the Bulletain board will be a rescue mission made by Smeargle. Accept it to get to this place. Guide: Just your normal rescue mission. Good luck! -------------------------------- 7R2 Stormy Sea [Kyogre's Wrath] -------------------------------- Dungeon Floors: 39 Floors, 1 Cutscene/Boss Floor [40 Total] Requirements: Whiscash has given you Dive Possesion of Dive in Toolbox OR A pokemon knows Dive Important Notes: None Suggested Levels: 37+ Suggested Items: Cleanse Orbs and other items to stay alive. Bring an extra Huge apple if you are unsure if you have enough belly. Suggested Pokemon Types: Bring a Water type with Dive and a Grass/Elec type. Overview: Very possible your first dungeon without a save point in the middle exceeding 25 floors. Do bring along some extra equipment. Guide: Not that difficult. Mainly water pokemon with an occasional Monster House (rare). Having a electric/grass type will do wonders. If you have one with Thunder, all the better. If you know Trap Seer on your leader, good. If you don't, bring some Cleanse Orbs just in case. Good luck! At the end of the dungeon you find... Boss Battle: Kyogre Level: 25 Moves: Water Pulse, Scary Face, Ancientpower, Body Slam Recruitment Percent: 50% Friend Area: Automatic Tips: Not that difficult as long as you have a lightning/grass type. I suggest a few reviver seeds in case. Its usually the same stuff with recruiting. Even with 50%, it may take more than a try, so don't feel disheartened if you don't get it the first time round. ------------------------------------ 7R3 Triple Fields [The Trinity Dogs] ------------------------------------ [Fiery Field] Dungeon Floors: 29 Floors, 1 Cutscene/Boss flo0r [30 total] Requirements: Getting HM Surf from Solar Cave Recieve Clear Feather from Spinda Talked to Xatu in Grat Canyon Possesion of Surf on a team member or inventory Important Notes: Compulsory Save Suggested Levels: 40+ Suggested Items: Cleanse Orbs, Reviver Seeds. If you do not have a Tight Belt, bring some Huge Apples. Suggested types: Water, Ground, Rock Guide: Simple dungeon. Don't rush through it as it can be challenging. Very useful to have a water type, especially if its been taught surf. Vulpix and other fire type pokemon here have Flash Fire, so try not to bring your Heat-Waving Charizard. On the 29th floor you may find Fire Stones, so leave some inventory gaps for them. At the end of the dungeon: Entei Level: 45 Recruitment Percent: 0.1%, Not recruitable on first encounter Friend Area: Scared Field Moves: Stomp, Fire Spin, Roar, Ember Tips: Not very difficult. A water pokemon will easily drench this pokemon easy. After beating Entei, he will color your Feather red. You will gain access to Lightning Field after this encounter. [Lightning Field] Dungeon Floors: 29 Floors, 1 Cutscene/Boss floor [30 total] Requirements: Getting HM Surf from Solar Cave Recieve Clear Feather from Spinda Talked to Xatu in Grat Canyon Possesion of Surf on a team member or inventory Defeating Entei at Fiery Field Important Notes: Compulsory Save Suggested Levels: 40+ Suggested Items: Cleanse Orbs, Reviver Seeds. If you do not have a Tight Belt, bring some Huge Apples. Suggested types: Ground Guide: This is similar to Fiery Field. Once again, take your time. I had difficulties clearing this set of dungeons on my first entrance. If your lucky you may also recruit a Pikachu here. You may find Thunder Stones on the 29th floor. Good luck! At the end of the dungeon you will meet... Raikou Level: 45 Recruitment Percent: 0.1%, not recruitable on first battle Friend Area: Sacred Fields Moves: Spark, Quick Attack, Roar, Thundershock To beat this guy, a tough ground type is really all that's necessary. Not very difficult as well. After the battle, he will color your Red Feather orange (red+yellow=Orange). You will also gain access to Northwind Field. [Northwind Field] Dungeon Floors: 29 Floors, 1 Cutscene/Boss floor [30 total] Requirements: Getting HM Surf from Solar Cave Recieve Clear Feather from Spinda Talked to Xatu in Grat Canyon Possesion of Surf on a team member or inventory Defeating Entei at Fiery Field Defeating Raikou at Lightning Field Important Notes: Compulsory Save Suggested Levels: 40+ Suggested Items: Cleanse Orbs, Reviver Seeds. If you do not have a Tight Belt, bring some Huge Apples. Suggested types: Grass, Electric Guide: Home to Suicune. Be careful and having a team of water pokemon with lightning attacks (Starmie, maybe?) will prove helpful in traversing the water terrain for shortcuts. You will find Water stones on the 29th floor. Good luck! At the end of the dungeon you'll meet Suicune! Suicune Level: 45 Recruitment percent: 0.1%, Not recruitable on first battle. Friend Area: Sacred Field Moves: Aurora Beam, Gust, Rain Dance, Bubblebeam Tips: Not very difficult if you destroyed Kyogre easily. Rain Dance boosts the power of water attacks, so be very careful.
After the battle, Suicune turns your Orange Feather to a Mirage Feather and
gives you access to Mt. Faraway, home to Ho-Oh!

Interesting Points and Tricks 11C
*******************************************************************************
Here are some interesting things I have discovered (and many others too):

Near-Invincible Pokemon:
How to make a long lasting pokemon? Get a Shedninja, of course! Raise
Shedninja's health with loads of Sitrius Berries and Life Seeds and give it a
Pass Scarf. Carry some Huge Apples and Shedninja is quite invincible. Reason
being that Pass Scarf passes all pyhsical moves and with the HP Boost, it is
hard to actually OHKO it at a high level.

Quick Mission Completion:
The easiest missions to do are to find a certain item. You can just carry the
item into the dungeon and use an Escape Orb. Tahda! Mission completed.

Cashiest Location:
To get loads of cash, complete Mt Faraway a few times or do some floor 99
dungeons. Meteor Cave is not bad, too.
