Use it at your own risk. I take no responsibility. If it destroys your game, sets you on fire or knocks the earth out of alignment, that's your own bad luck. That being said, this glitch is *USUALLY* harmless. This section is about the mysterious glitch CO which has been affectionately named 'Blankie' by myself. Blankie can only be played in the Japanese or US versions of AWDS, as the glitch was fixed in the European release. 'Blankie' Unlocked: Always CO Power: 0 + 0 Tag Affinity: None Unit Price: 100% Direct Vehicle:100/100 Indirect Vehicle: 100/100 Planes: 100/100 Copters: 100/100 Direct Sea: 100/100 Indirect Sea: 100/100 Soldiers: 100/100 Other Info: Causes glitches. Read below. CO Power: None SCO Power: None +0% Offence, +0% Defence Tag Firepower Modifications: None Blankie can be used in any campaign, war room or survival map that allows you to pick two COs with a 'CO Select' Screen. Blankie is actually the 'X' that appears in the CO select there. However, it only appears when it's placed in the first slot, which you can't normally do. The way to do it is as follows: 1) Select a CO and put them in the 1st slot. Select the space for the second slot. So your menu should look something like this: Flak X - Blank 2) Highlight the second slot and select the CO in the first slot. So, your COs will swap positions and you should have a menu something like this: X - Blank Flak 3) Finally, if you wish you can place another Blankie in the second slot, so they'll look like this: X - Blank X - Blank 4) Start the map! Freezes: Blankie, being a glitch causes a number of freezes when you do things. 1) Accessing the CO Dossier Menu will cause the game to freeze. 2) Using a Tag or Super CO power will cause a game freeze. 3) Using 'CO Swap' will cause a freeze. 4) Finishing the level and watching the 'End of Mission' view will freeze. The above four freezes have to do with the fact that Blankie has no defined graphics or text dialogue to use. As such, the game tries to find them, can't and hits it's head against a metaphorical brick wall, as the default reference point for the data is the very start of the game's coding and it then has a spasm from trying to graphically decode the entire game. That's my best guess anyway. Oddities: Blankie's music is 'Andy's Theme' despite the fact that 'Eagle's Theme' is actually the very first song in the game. If battle animations are on, Blankie will have a glitched up or blank face. This is due to it not having any proper graphics set. Blankie is actually CO Number 1 in the data. The rest of the ordering follows the list of COs in the Wallpaper display. Blankie actually has Tag Affinities for all COs set at 100% power. Blankie's Super CO Power is always charged and it's CO power is never usable. This is because of the way the CO Power meter works. If a CO power costs 0 stars, (Such as in the case of Von Bolt and Blankie), then the CO power cannot be used. However, the game is programmed to always allow for a Super CO power, as there is not normally any situations where a CO does not have one. As such, the game sees that Blankie has charged 0/0 stars at the start of the turn and allows Super Power usage. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CO Trivia [TRI] ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -Nell is the oldest CO in Advance Wars by creation data. She appears as CO Number 1 in the Data in Advance Wars 1 and 2, as well as being Number 2 after 'Blankie' which was designed as a blank space. -Sonja still has abilities in 'CO Powers Off' mode, which normally disables all of a CO's abilities. She permanently retains her ability to reduce Terrain stars by 1. -Sonja's ability takes priority over Lash's. If Sonja is present when Lash uses Prime Tactics, then the amount is taken off the stars and then doubled. So, for a 1 Star Terrain, Lash doubles 0 instead, getting no stars. Likewise, a 4 star terrain will be reduced to 3 and then doubled to 6, instead of Lash getting 7 stars. As such, Sonja horribly counters Lash. -Koal and Jugger were originally completely intended to replace Flak and Adder. Koal and Jugger occupy the data Slots of where Adder and Flak were in Advance Wars 2, as well as their wallpapers possessing Flak and Adder's CO Power names and Star Costs. However, Flak and Adder were re-added to Advance Wars DS at a much later date, as they are the last two COs in the CO data. -Sensei, Ironically is the newest CO in Advance Wars 2, in the same way that Nell is the oldest. -Von Bolt completely replaces Sturm in the CO Data. Sturm is not actually in Advance Wars DS at all. -Eagle's theme was the first CO Theme composed for Advance Wars. Lash's was the first composed for Advance Wars 2. -Apart from being Nerfed, Lash's ability has also been changed a little bit in operation. In Advance Wars 2, her ability to turn terrain into firepower was a flat out multiplier. 1 star terrain multiplied your damage by 1.1, 2 Star multiplied by 1.2, etc. This meant that if Lash could get firepower boosts in Advance Wars 2 from other means, you'd increase the damage more. For example, if you had 4 Star terrain for a 1.4 multiplier, and you had 120% firepower, then you would end up with a total of 168% Firepower instead of 160% firepower. However, this changed in Advance Wars DS, where it was changed to a straight addition, probably because of the default +10/10 boost and the Skills system allowing firepower boosts for Lash. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Forces/Skills Information ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ How To Earn [EAR] Each CO can use skills depending on their rank. A CO requires 1000 points of experience to grow one level. Each level grants that CO all the force ranks of that level. Additionally, Ranks 1, 2, 3 and 4 grant the CO a force rank slot. So a level 2 CO can equip two force ranks, while a level 4 can equip four. A level 0 CO cannot equip forces. The Star rank forces are earned by finishing campaign, for View Plus 2, Repair Plus 2 and Sami March 2 and are then available to any CO that has attained rank 1 or higher. Soul of Hachi and Sonja's Teachings are earned by completing hard campaign and follow the same conditions. Points are earned by winning a map in Survival, Campaign or War Room with that CO. You get as many EXP as shop points, but different war room modes will give you experience multipliers for more EXP. Also, destroying certain map features will give you bonus points: Pipe Seams - 5 Points Minicannons - 5 Points Black Stones - 10 Points Black Cannons - 20 Points Black Crystals - 20 Points Helliums - 40 Points Also, when a CO reaches rank 10, they gain access to an alternate costume.
