This list will hopefully eventually expand to become a list with all the released Dreamcast games for all regions, stating whether or not they support use of the VGA box. The main reason why this is to be done is because some games don't show the VGA Compatable icon on the back of the cover like it should (like PAL Urban Chaos), yet it still works, or some games do show it and they don't work (eg, PAL Railroad Tycoon 2). Also its because some games need the VGA 'switch trick' to be used to get it to work on the VGA monitor (for example, Bust A Move 4). A list has also been included for those. _____ _ _ | |___ ___| |_ ___ ___| |_ | --| . | | _| .'| _| _| |_____|___|_|_|_| |__,|___|_| Because I live in the UK, I cannot actually test many NTSC titles, although I have imported a few games myself. Although it has proved success with a few games, it does not work 100% of the time unfortunatly. It works with all Dreamcast VGA links, aslong as it has a switch to switch between using a VGA monitor and a TV. If you only have a basic wire which connects the Dreamcast to a monitor and a pair of speakers, then I'm afraid you will have to do it the harder method (and also the one that causes wear- and-tear to your Dreamcast's video socket). If you are using a VGA box with a TV switch, then continue to the next section. If you are using a VGA link cable, or a VGA box without a TV switch, and you still want to do it despite my warnings, then continue to section 6.2. If the game works with the switch trick, then you should see the game start up as it normally would. If however you just see a black screen, and you hear the game running but can't see anything, then it does not work on the VGA monitor, and I'm afraid you're going to have to play it on a TV. ============= 6.1 - VGA Box ============= The easiest way is to turn your speakers/volume up when doing this, or you you could choose to listen to your Dreamcast instead. 1 - Switch on the Dreamcast with the VGA box set to TV mode. Your VGA monitor should go into a sort of standby (usually by having its light in an orange colour instead of a green). If this is not the case and you actually see the Dreamcasts intro screen appear, then you have not set the Dreamcast to TV mode, and therefor you will need to turn off your Dreamcast, switch it to TV mode, then turn it back on again. 2 - Listen to the Dreamcasts intro screen. After it finishes playing it (when you stop hearing it), switch the VGA box to VGA mode. If you rather want to listen to your Dreamcast working instead of the intro noise, then this is what you should listen for: When you switch it on, and it's checked the disc, you should hear your Dreamcasts CD motor speed up suddenly, then a beep. Once you hear that, switch your Dreamcast's VGA box to VGA mode. Within a few seconds of both methods your screen should switch from its standby mode and you should see the *Produced by or under licence SEGA...* screen. ==================== 6.2 - VGA Link Cable ==================== 1 - Connect the standard TV lead to your Dreamcast, then switch your Dreamcast on. 2 - When you switch it on, and it's checked the disc, you should hear your Dreamcasts CD motor speed up suddenly, then a beep. Once you hear that, switch your Dreamcast's TV lead to your VGA box/link. I strongly recommend that you get a VGA box with a TV switch instead, as this method wears out the Dreamcasts video socket. _____ _ _ _ | |___ ___ _| |_| |_ ___ | --| _| -_| . | | _|_ -| |_____|_| |___|___|_|_| |___| Me, EAGamer/segagamer - For making this guide which many people have wanted for quite a while now :) Jim Smallman, kevinski podoftimmy, spiffyone, game player s, theevilfunkster and 1mp0r7g4m3r... ...for adding games to the list. <-End Of Faq->
