It offers 800 blocks of storage space, which is four times as much as a standard Visual Memory Unit (VMU). The 800 blocks are divided into four 200-block units, called banks. The 4x Memory Card is not a Visual Memory unit. It does not feature a display, speaker, clock, or VMU mini-game functions, and cannot be used with software that is labeled "Visual Memory Required." (Source: http://www.sega.com/help/hardware/4xmemory.jhtml) In other words, you more or less have the equivalent of a Dreamcast memory card. You can save data to it, but it can't play VMU Games, or be used to trade game saves with other Dreamcast VMUs or 4X cards. ****************************************************************************** 2 - What's the problem here? ****************************************************************************** Certain games don't recognize the 4x card; either they can't find the card, or they crash. They can't be used to save or load save files with these games. So, this list is meant to be a sort of reference for those that own one of these cards so they'll use a normal VMU instead. This list will be split into five different sections: - USA [NTSC|U]: This section will be dedicated to games released in America, intended for use in the American continent. This excludes Brazil, because they use the PAL TV standard. - JAPAN [NTSC|J]: This section is dedicated to Japan-only releases. - EURO [PAL|E]: Of course, this section is dedicated to European and Australian releases. If any Brazilian games are found, they will be added here as well. - HOMEBREW [All regions]: This is for programs, games, emulators or demos created by independent programmers. The support is non-existant as a general rule. Still, this has to be added. ****************************************************************************** 3 - Code explanations ****************************************************************************** Game Title: The game title. If there's a reason why the game won't work with a 4x memory card, a code enclosed within brackets will be added asides the name: The possible reasons that a game will not work with one are: [1] - The game requires a VMU screen to be played properly: it displays important information about the game itself. [2] - The game crashes immediately. ****************************************************************************** 4 - Master Game List ****************************************************************************** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ USA [NTSC|U] unsupported games ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | Game title ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | Dynamite Cop | Rayman 2 | Soul Reaver - Legacy Of Kain | Seaman [1] | Vigilante 8: Second Offense ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Japan [NTSC|J] games ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | Game title ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | Napple Tale [1] ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Euro [PAL|E] games ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | Game title ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | Worms Armageddon ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Homebrew games ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | Game title ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | NESTERDC 7.1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ****************************************************************************** 5 - Want to contribute? ****************************************************************************** If you want to contribute, please send the following information: - Complete game/program title - Game ID Code [or if it's a backup or homebrew program] - Description of the error This list will center mostly on official game software.
