This is my first FAQ, but I hope to have made a decent job. Thanks for reading it. Why use Yamazaki? There are lots of reason, but I will just list 5 1. He is an excellent, but sometimes underrated character. 2. He has an excellent fashion sense. 3. He the coolest of all the Orochis. 4. He is a great fighter without needing to be cheap. 5. His laugh is both hilarious and cool (and you can laugh at the same time with him!) So, as you can see there are good reason to use him, but if we get really serious, he is a great character, with both excellent reach and power, and he can be used effectively without needing to be cheap (though you can be cheap if you want) so, let's show the rest of the world who is The King of Fighters! ========================================================================== Y A M A Z A K I R Y U J I ' S B A C K G R O U N D I N F O ========================================================================== Birthplace: Japan Birthdate: August 8, 1974 Height: 6'3" (1.92m) Weight: 96 kg (210lbs) Blood type: A. About Yamazaki: Yamazaki has been fighting the Bogard brothers for quite a long time...But that doesn't means he is completely a bad guy (but he certainly need Psy- chological help), because, even when he may be on the wrong side, he does it mostly for the money...That doesn't justifies bad deeds, but at least he doesnt send invitations to people around the world to end up being an or- nament on his living room. He has been an employee of many people, from Jin siblings to Geese Howard (his current employer). Ironically, he is not very fond of Geese, because he got in his way to achieve his goals on Real Bout. Although he has been around for quite a while now, it wasn't know until recently that he has Orochi blood...but he appears to have mastered how to control his Orochi nature, because he doesnt goes nuts like Iori and Leona, and he uses his "snake arms" easily (in case you haven't noticed the Orochis seem have the ability to use "snake arms", for example Rugal and Vice). Also, he seems to understimate the Orochi Team's abilities, also, he doesn't think too high of Billy Kane, his partner impossed by Geese and sees him as "Geese's Pet dog". He has excellent reach and the best coun- tering special in the game! (The Sadomaso) You may need a little practice, but once you master Yamazaki, he will be unstoppable! K E Y T O T H E M O V E S ------------------------------------------ f = Forward d= Down df = Down-forward qcf = Quarter circle forward qcb = Quarter cirle back hcf = Half circle forward hcb = Half circle back (x2) = Input the command twice X = Weak punch Y= Hard punch A= Weak kick B = Hard kick DM= Desperation Move (you need a super bar to do this) SDM= Super Desperation Move (you need to power up in advanced mode, or be weak and have a super bar in extra mode) U N I Q U E M O V E S -------------------------------- Shime Age = "Choking lift" When in close,b or f + Y Bun Nage = "Mosquitoes Throw" When in close, b or f + B Bussashi = "Striking Stab" f + X Notes about Bussashi: It's simple...It's an overhead attack, so it needs to be blocked high, so it will crush a crouching opponent's block and hit him /her. It can be cancelled into a special move, but it has to come as combo from a normal attack to do so. S P E C I A L M O V E S --------------------------------- Hebi Tsukai (Jou) = "Snake Charmer (Upper)" qcb + X Hold the button to delay the move Hebi Tsukai (Chuu) = "Snake Charmer (Middle)" qcb + A Hold the button to delay -Hebi Tsukai (Ge) = "Snake Charmer (Lower)" qcb + Y Hold the button to delay Notes about Hebi Tsukai: One of Ryuji's best moves, he can easily keep any- one at bay with this move. Take advantage of the move's great reach and use the ability to hold the move to confuse the opponent. It is also a great energy drainer, and the lower one is great for opponents getting up or ro- lling. Bakudan Pachiki = "Bomb Headbutt" When in close to your opponent, hcb, f + Any punch Notes about Bakudan Pachiki: There's no big science to this one. It does good damage and it cannot be reversed. Its also kinda cheap if your opponent has little experience against Ryuji. I have seen a couple of dorks try to reverse it again and again. On the downside, if you miss it, Ryuji will go into a "miss" animation. Sabaki No Aikuchi = "Judgement Dagger" f, d, df + Any punch Notes about Sabaki No Aikuchi: No big deal with this one either. It does good damage and is a good energy drainer. If you miss, however, you will be as vulnerable as an old lady. Yakiire No Touhi = "Flight of Hardening" f, d, df + A Notes about Yakiire No Touhi: Great move! This one is a good move hit an unexpecting opponent and it also gives a nasty surprise to anyone blocking low. It has good reach and good damage, and plus Ryuji's laugh while he does the move is hilarious. Suna Kake = "Sand Sprayer" f, d, df + B Notes about Suna Kake: This one is a good anti-air counter (But the Upper Hebi Sukai is better) it does a decent amount of damage and is useful to surprise the opponent too. It can leave you vulnerable if you miss, so use it wisely. Bai Gaeshi (Kyuushuu) = "Double Returner (Absorption)" qcf + X Bai Gaeshi (Dan Hassha) = "Double Returner (Bullet Departure)" qcf + Y Notes about Bai Gaeshi: Excellent move! Great to keep fireball freaks at bay. The Absorption is useful to destroy a fireball, but is the Bullet one that makes this one so sweet. You destroy your opponents fireball and give them one in return. And a really quick one! Veryfew people will be prepared for this one and since it eats up incoming fireballs, you will be able to damage even quick fireball users. It may take a little practice, but once you master it, you will be practically impervious to enemy fire, plus, if you use it in close, you will also hit your opponent twice and push them to a safe distance. Quick recovery makes this one a winner. Sadomaso: hcf + Any Kick Notes about Sadomaso: Cute name! Anyway, this is a great move if used wise- ly. It will counter any high and mid level hits. If you are fighting someone inexperienced against Ryuji, take advantage of the Sadomaso's "taunting" sprite. Most people will think you are taunting and go in for a hit...You will hit most of people a couple of times, before they realize that it is a special move. Use it against those people that always jump at you...they will be an easy prey. It can counter almost anything (Yeah, even the Yaotome) and once you master it, you will use it as a second nature against agressive opponents. Be careful of low hits, fireballs and throws, since Ryuji will NOT counter those. D M (S D M) T E C H N I Q U E S ----------------------------------------------- Guillotine qcf (x2) + Any punch Notes about Guillotine: Good DM. It has great damage, but you need to use it with precision. This one can be used against ground and jumping opponents. Use it wisely against jumping opponents since, sometimes it will only hit them once (with the raising upper) but miss the second part of the move (the grab). You need to use it not too far of the opponent if you dont wanna miss the upper. Against inexperienced foes you may want to miss it to lure them, and connect the grab. Be careful if you miss though, you will be completely vulnerable if they block the grab. The Drill When in close, hcb (x2) + Any punch, Tap punch rapidly to change the DM's look and increase the damage. Panchi Ranbu = "Punch Crazy Dance" From The Drill don't tap any punch (DM) Kiku Ranbu = "Kick Crazy Dance" From The Drill tap punch rapidly 5-8 times (DM) Rapido Pachiki = "Rapid Headbutts" From The Drill tap punch rapidly 9-12 times (DM) Ripitedo Hebi Tsukai = "Repeated Snake Charmer" From The Drill tap punch 13 or more times (DM) Rapido Sutomupusu = "Rapid Stomps" From The Drill don't tap any punch (SDM) Rapido Aikuchi = "Rapid Dagger" From The Drill press punch 5-8 times (SDM) Rapido Shime Age = "Rapid Choke Lift" From The Drill press punch rapidly 9-12 times (SDM) Chou Ripitedo Hebi Tsukai = "Super Repeated Snake Charmer" From The Drill press punch rapidly 13 or more times (SDM) Special The Drill Taunt After any The Drill press any punch as it ends. Notes about The Drill: Great DM. One of the most damaging DMs in the game, and if you use it the right way it can change the outcome of a fight. As you notice, it can be modified in several ways. This move is great against peo- ple that are inexperienced against Yamazaki, and to people who have pro- blem with in-close attacks and throws. Once you catch the opponent with Yamazaki will lift them a then drop them, then you will have a short amount of time while Ryuji's focuses to press the punch button a determined amount of times to change the move. You may find that the more advanced (and da- maging) types of The Drill are hard to achieve at first, but if you press both punch buttons instead of just one, it will be that much easier. Just be ready to press the buttons as soon as Ryuji starts to focus his power. You can use his sprite to guide you since, the more you press, the more crazy he looks. If you can always use this move as a SDM Chou Ripitedo Hebi Tsukai, since it will take away a huge amount of energy from your opponent. Be careful when you use it, though, because it will leave you very vulnerable if you miss, because it works as a throw (but it can't be rever- sed). ================================================================================== Y A M A Z A K I R Y U J I ' S S P E E C H T R A N S L A T I O N S ================================================================================== Start "Kono zako ga" = "You are a guppy" Taunt "Mono tarine na!" = "I have not had enough!"
