---------------------- STRANGELOOP (+Plus) (AMSTRAD CPC VERSION) ---------------------- 1. About 2. Why? 3. Notes 4. Walkthrough 5. +PLUS Quest 6. Copyright --------------------- 1. ABOUT Strangeloop is an adventure game for various platforms. From what I can gather, the versions differ between platforms although the basic principles remain the same. This walkthrough is only for the Amstrad CPC version. 2. Why? Why have I made this walkthrough? Well, this game has bugged me ever since I was a child, as I couldn't complete it. Also, there is not a single walkthrough on the internet for it, so I decided to spend days and days trying to work out how to complete this game. Finally, it is done. Enjoy. 3. Notes - Things that can kill you You will encounter harmful debris in most rooms. This debris will damage your spacesuit gradually. You start with 99 patches, but once they run out your spacesuit will start to leak oxygen. The more leaks you have, the faster your oxygen will deplete. When you have 99 leaks, your oxygen will run down like mad. When you run out of oxygen, you will lose a life. Most Robots and beachballs will de-energise you. This will cause you to lose a life. Pits of water will boil you alive. You will lose a life. Crushers operate in the area. If you unfortunate to be under one, you will be crushed and lose a life. Electrical discharges are not pleasant, and will result in you losing a life upon electricution. Room M9 is a deathtrap: on entering the room, you will be sucked into space and lose a life. Using welding equipment without proper protection (the eye glasses) will result in you being blinded. You will, for some reason, lose a life for this. Dropping a bomb, and standing around to admire it while it goes off, obviously, will cause you to lose a life. Inside the main control room (Room F2) is the main reactor. Entering the main reactor will cause you to lose a life if you don't deactivate it first. - General things to pick up MEDKITS (identified by the noticable red cross) contain 99 patches. If you have any leaks, you will be able to patch these up, and the remaining patches will be kept for use later on. FUEL canisters (blue, marked with an 'F') contain fuel for your jetbike. If your jetbike runs out of fuel, you will not be able to use it until you obtain more fuel. OXYGEN tanks (look like yellow gloves) replenish your oxygen. I would advise picking any up if you have 99 leaks, as a few more seconds isn't going to help much. CHARGES (red barrels) will replenish your gun charge to 255. EXTRA LIFE (a heart) - there are one of these in the game. Beware the robot guarding it. 4. Walkthrough. First note that the spaceship is a 10x25 grid. For convenience, the left-hand most rooms will be 0, the right-hand most will be 9. The top floor will be A, and the bottom floor will be Y. You start your quest in room M2. Make your way to room N2, and fire at the triangular segment of the wall, so your charge bounces off and destroys the rotating robot. This will release the JETBIKE. Keep going right until you reach N8. There is a hidden door on the top right. Fly through the wall and into N9. Pick up the MAGNET. Go down to room U6 and pick up the PLEASURE CIRCUIT (a pair of lips). Then make your way to V8 to the room with the message "I feel so run down, leave me... a.a.a.alone" Give the PLEASURE CIRCUIT to the robot, and you obtain a SYRINGE. Go to C5 (marked on the map by a red cross) and give the SYRINGE to the doctor. In return, he will give you a SILICON CHIP. Go up the far right tube in B3, to arrive in the secret A3 room. Go right to A4 and collect the TELEVISION SET. Go back to A3 and up the tube to arrive in Y9. Go up to O8 to the room marked "There are many fish in the cosmos" and disable the robot by using the SILICON CHIP. Enter O9 to pick up A NICE PLAICE. Work your way through to J5 to the room marked "Bubbles TV" Hand the TELEVISION SET over to obtain a pair of HANDCUFFS. Go to L8 to get the BOUNCING BOMB, and then up to E9 for the WELDING GEAR. Then get to B7 for the ULTRAVIOLENCE DEVICE and then to E3 for the EYE GLASSES. Make your way down to J0, which is the computer system. Use the ULTRAVIOLENCE DEVICE, and this will deactivate the electrical currents in room Q6. Get down to room Q6 and into Q5 to collect the BOTTLE OF ACID. Work your way up to room H5 and fly into the left panel (attached to the container). Use the BOTTLE OF ACID on the panel, to open the container. Collect the SOLDERING IRON. Now work your way to room P2, where a floor separates you from a FIVE CREDIT COIN. Go up through the tubes to O2, which says "Jet bikes services while you wait and wait and stand around" Big clue there: ditch your JETBIKE and go back to P2. Stand on the right, facing the wall and hold down fire, until the FIVE CREDIT COIN flies through the floor. run and grab it, and then go back to O2 and collect your JETBIKE. Go down to the "Vendromat" in Y7 and use the FIVE CREDIT COIN. In return, you will recieve an ELECTRICAL FUSE. You will also recieve ONE CREDIT COIN change. Remember to pick this up. Now go to L6 "No Entry" and give the robot your ONE CREDIT COIN. He will then open up the door for you. In L7, the KEY transports around the room everytime you get near it. Use the MAGNET to hold the KEY in place, and then collect the KEY. Notice that you still have hold of your MAGNET. Work your way to J2 and face the door. Use the KEY to open it. Go through the door and get to L0, where there are 3 numbered buttons. Fly over to button number 2 and hit fire. An IDENTITY CARD will appear, which you should pick up. While you're down here, get your way to T4. ***SEE +PLUS QUEST FOR ADDITIONAL BONUS In T4, there is a panel, with a box missing. Enter the ELECTRICAL FUSE and then solder it on with the SOLDERING IRON. The transporter will now become active. Enter the transporter, and you will appear in a new room. Collect the OIL CAN, and transport back to T4. Make your way to R4, and give the robot the OIL CAN. In return, he will give you a LITHIUM CRYSTAL. Make your way back to C5 (the medical bay) and go upwards to A5. Go right into A6 and use the IDENTITY CARD to get past the robot guard. Get into the "Robot Tapes" area and use the MAGNET to wipe them. This will now deactivate the robot guard at F3. Go to F3 and face the door. Put on the EYE GLASSES and then use the WELDING EQUIPMENT to open the door. The robot should be safe now, and you may enter the control room. In F2, disable the final guard using the HANDCUFFS and then drop the BOUNCING BOMB, and immediately leave the room. After the bomb goes off, you can enter the room again. Drop the NICE PLAICE into the fish symbol on the left. Finally, enter the main reactor and use the LITHIUM CRYSTAL. This is the end of the game. 5. +Plus Quest I have found very little difference between the original and the Plus version, besides the odd "Sorcery" side-quest. By entering the transporter in T4 before you activate it properly, you will be whisked to the world of "Sorcery". You cannot die in this place. Upon leaving the place, you will obtain the SHOGUN LEVEL DESIGNER object. I have yet to discover what this thing does, but you can appear to use it in every room of the spaceship, with no adverse effects. 6. Copyright. I've made this walkthrough, anybody can use it, anybody can distribute it. Use it wisely, and anybody else who got bugged by the game can now rest easy.
