===================================DISCLAIMER================================== I have decided not to allow websites other than Gamefaqs (www.gamefaqs.com), IGN (faqs.ign.com) & Gamespot (www.gamespot.com) to host my FAQs from now on. Please don't ask, because I will not grant permission. It's just that too many sites don't keep their version of my FAQ up to date which makes for a lot of hassle in my mailbox. So if anyone sees this FAQ on any site other than those mentioned above, please let me know and I will take care of the situation, thanks. Just to make things crystal clear for some people, this FAQ is not to appear anywhere at the following URLs: http://www.cheatcc.com http://www.cheatindex.com This document Copyright 2006,2017 Daniel Engel =============================================================================== Color Bar Generator FAQ [2600] October 25, 2017 Daniel (DEngel) Engel dan.engel.2017 [AT] gmail [DOT] com ############################################################################### (A) TABLE OF CONTENTS ############################################################################### Table of Contents (A) This Table of Contents (B) Controls (C) The Game - (C-01) How To Play (D) Thanks (E) Experimental ############################################################################### (B) CONTROLS ############################################################################### The default controls for this game are as follows: Select - Move to the previous test pattern. Reset - Move to the next test pattern. ############################################################################### (C) THE GAME ############################################################################### Bricklayer J. Gastronomy Color Bar Generator isn't really a game as much as it is the foundation in which all games as we know them today were originally based. Actually it's a series of test patterns. ############################################################################### (C-01) HOW TO PLAY ############################################################################### ------------ Title Screen ------------ When you first start the game you are presented with the title screen. This is your first clue that both the game and your TV are working, and that you have the right [or wrong, depending on your point of view] game in the system. Here you get to make the important choice to either keep playing, or turn the game off. Assuming you're going to try your hand at this challenging game, you get to either move forward or back in the serious of daunting test patterns, by pressing "reset" or "select" respectively. ############################################################################### (C-02) PATTERNS ############################################################################### Here I will describe each of the 14 patterns that you experience in the game, so that there is no confusion. They are presented as if you are going forward through them, with the "reset" button. If you mess up and go to the wrong one, you have a few options, my suggestions are as follows: You can either panic, turn the game off and count to 10 before trying again, or you can simply use the other button of the two, in order to get back on track. With that in mind, here are the patterns: -------------------------- Pattern 01 - Coloured Bars -------------------------- This is it, the makers of the game have pulled no punches and go straight for the money-maker. The pattern that you paid to see, it's coloured bars. Made up of 7 vertical bars across the top 2/3 of the screen and 4 coloured blocks below, this is the pattern that you'll be showing off to anyone who thinks this game was a smart buy. Here's a rendition of this impressive pattern on your screen: ---------------------------------- |GRGR|YLYL|CYCY|GRGR|PIPI|RDRD|BLBL| |GRGR|YLYL|CYCY|GRGR|PIPI|RDRD|BLBL| GR = Grey |GRGR|YLYL|CYCY|GRGR|PIPI|RDRD|BLBL| YL = Yellow |GRGR|YLYL|CYCY|GRGR|PIPI|RDRD|BLBL| CY = Cyan [light blue] |GRGR|YLYL|CYCY|GRGR|PIPI|RDRD|BLBL| GR = Green |GRGR|YLYL|CYCY|GRGR|PIPI|RDRD|BLBL| PI = Pink |GRGR|YLYL|CYCY|GRGR|PIPI|RDRD|BLBL| RD = Red |GRGR|YLYL|CYCY|GRGR|PIPI|RDRD|BLBL| BL = Blue |GRGR|YLYL|CYCY|GRGR|PIPI|RDRD|BLBL| BC = Black |----------------------------------| WT = White |BCBCBCBCB|WTWTWTWTW|DBDBDBDBD|BCBC| DB = Dark Blue |BCBCBCBCB|WTWTWTWTW|DBDBDBDBD|BCBC| |BCBCBCBCB|WTWTWTWTW|DBDBDBDBD|BCBC| ---------------------------------- ---------------------------- Pattern 02 - Monochrome Bars ---------------------------- This pattern pales in comparison to the coloured bars pattern mentioned above, but it's still pretty impressive. If your TV isn't a colour model, then this will be the pattern that you burn into the screen with pride. It's made up of 8 vertical bars that fill the whole screen. The leftmost bar is white and each bar is a slightly darker shade of grey. The rightmost bar is shaded black. ----------------- Pattern 03 - Grid ----------------- This pattern is a grid of solid white lines on a black background. Which pretty much fills the screen with 8 rows of 11 squares, for a total of 88 squares. ----------------- Pattern 04 - Dots ----------------- Although the last pattern was pretty advanced, this one drops all the lines and only keeps the points where they crossed. Which leaves you with a screen filled with 70 dots [7 rows of 10 dots]. --------------------------- Pattern 05 - Vertical Lines --------------------------- This pattern takes the grid from pattern 03 and removes all the horizontal lines. This means that you are looking at 10 vertical lines here. ----------------------------- Pattern 06 - Horizontal Lines ----------------------------- This pattern takes the grid from pattern 03 and removes all the vertical lines. This means that you are looking at 7 horizontal lines here. ------------------------- Pattern 07 - Four Corners ------------------------- This pattern involves 4 large boxes, as the screen is split into 4 sections. -------------------- Pattern 08 - Circles -------------------- This pattern has two large circles on the screen. The larger outer circle is thicker than the inner circle contained within. --------------------------------- Pattern 09 - Black And White Bars --------------------------------- This pattern has 8 vertical bars running from left to right. The bars alternate in colours, between black and white. The leftmost bar is white, and the rightmost bar is black. ---------------------- Pattern 10 - White Box ---------------------- This pattern has a solid white box at the left side of the screen on a black background, and nothing more. ------------------------- Pattern 11 - White Screen ------------------------- Like a polar bear in a blizzard, this pattern is completely white. No other colours or lines are anywhere on the screen. ------------------------ Pattern 12 - Blue Screen ------------------------ This pattern is a screen that's totally blue, much like the ones they used to use in older movies for some special effects. ----------------------- Pattern 13 - Red Screen ----------------------- This pattern is just like the last 2, except it has red everywhere. ------------------------- Pattern 14 - Green Screen ------------------------- This is the final pattern that you come to, and the game goes out with whimper rather than a bang. Instead of being impressed with a pattern that rivals coloured bars, you are left with a screen composed entirely of green. ############################################################################### (D) THANKS ############################################################################### Huge thanks go out to the following contributors: 12345 A Hung Bunny aamanda Aranel Argus Anakin's Arm Axiom Bad Mojo Banana Barbeden BBBD Bernie O'dwyer Bokista Boovis Bubble Gum Jr. Burmart Chief-BE Choice Clamhat CodeBlue40 Coffey colonelrhythm Corpsebed CorpseDance Cosine Dan Hibiki DaShotta Dave Muscarella Degauss DJ Maniak Dog Welder Dr. Chris Cooper DrCoathanger Dran DrunkBear DuchessOfSporks Eclipsed Sun econochrist Envark EvilBeard FAA Faelina Fallom Ferquin Fez FishWife Flacodiablo Flagnads Flat Fly Frank Gotch G-III Goblorn Grimlock Guy Incognito HG3 HMS HungSolo Isabelle jack klugman Jared Sloan JESBUS Jigglypuff Joe Fisto Kap`n Kakakaway KDub Kirbson kristina Marco Salvetti Max The Bastard Mento mich Montasque Motewolen MrTimCaum Nobuki Noid Ook Outrider Paisley Daddy Peepers Pomar preschoolho Reverend Nick Rivothed Roosevelt Sabdek Scott B Scythemantis Seven Shadrack Shy Guy slapass Slowking Sluggo SoupMaster Stopheles Subatomic Brain Freeze superunknown SZJ T Almighty TeflonBilly Thaw The Volta theDNAfish TheRealJon Thorne Thrillhouse Tokka Travis Rajewski tsg Ubik VatoRudo Wakarimasen WattDogs Wendell Xyon Yuffie ############################################################################### (E) EXPERIMENTAL ############################################################################### For a little while now I've had a paypal link in all my FAQs at the very bottom here. Mainly as a small experiment since a few other FAQ authors have also had the same idea. I had a few people email me before I put this link in because they wanted to send money, so it's here for those people. For the record I've received about $87 (which works out to a bit more in Canadian lol) last I checked, so I've been getting cases of pop and making some excellent progress on a few FAQs. If you don't want to send money or can't then send me an email, it's nice to hear what people thought about my work and there's always room for improvement. My email address and paypal address for those that want to contribute are both dan.engel.2017 (AT) gmail (DOT) com Many thanks, and I hope you continue to use my work! ~Dan
