Time Crisis 3 Namco 2003 Arcade Version Random Information FAQ Version 1.0 FAQ Created on April 24th, 2003 ----------- Welcome to my FAQ. My "GameFAQS" name and name on the internet is DeepBlueVibes, and this FAQ is basically about random information that I know of in Time Crisis 3. -------- Sections: Section #1: Combo Information Section #2: Exploding Objects Section #3: Bosses Section #4: Weapons Info -------- --- SECTION #1: COMBO INFORMATION --- In this section I will explain some information about the combo system (to the extent of my knowledge about it). Basically, in Time Crisis 3 there is a "combo" system that gives you more points than normal if you manage to hit enemies consecutively at a high enough speed. You can miss while shooting an enemy and the combo meter will not stop, but you only have about one second after you have shot an enemy before the combo drops back down to zero. If you get hit, you also lose your combo meter. Basically, (although with exceptions of course, mostly bosses) the optimal weapon to rack up combos is the regular handgun. With 9 shots, it makes it very easy to take out a group of three regular enemies, get a nice, easy 9+ combo and quickly reload. Plus, obviously it has infinite ammo, so no worries about running out. However, on bosses, it's recommended that you use the Machine Gun for bosses that just sit in one place (the huge electric tanks on the last area of the last stage, the boss of area 3, stage 1, so on) and you should use the Shotgun for bosses that move around a lot (the area 3, level 2 boss, Wild Dog and Wild Fang, so on) and you should NEVER EVER use the Grenades in the game EVER if you want to get a high score, since they pretty much annihilate your combo, let alone they don't even do that much damage to begin with. Here's some info on enemies: Regular enemies (gray suited, red suited, and the yellow suited ones who give out weapons) only take one shot to kill, and you can shoot them two times afterwards, which means you can fully shoot three gray/yellow suited enemies with one clip of your handgun. The "Claw" enemies that are in light blue suits usually take 5 shots to kill, and can be shot once or twice afterwards (it's pretty random which). The blue suited enemies with the flame throwers/rocket launchers and the yellow suited enemies with machine guns take 6 shots to kill, and can be shot twice more afterwards. These are the only regular enemies in the game that I would recommend using the Machine Gun on, just to keep up your combo. Also, I'm not totally sure on this, but if you manage to not miss while shooting up enemies, you get a nice 500 or so point bonus if your shots never miss the mark during your combo. Not much by itself, but a lot of them can make or break your scoring on the boards. Also, in sections where there are objects that you can shoot besides the enemies (dishes, fruits, computer screens, so on) those also add to your combo multiplier, so obviously waste all of those. --- SECTION #2: EXPLODING OBJECTS --- In Time Crisis 3 there is a few sections where you can shoot an object and it will explode, killing every enemy on screen and giving you 5,000 points. However, it isn't recommended to do so RIGHT AWAY, rather you should kill all but one enemy, shoot him down to his last dot of life (if it's a 1 shot kill guy like a red/gray/yellow suit, don't even shoot him) and then blow up the object. Areas where there are objects that can be blown up are; Level 1; Area 1 - A bit after you head out onto the beach, there should be three barrels stacked in a pyramid type fashion to your right, under a rock arch. Shoot the bottom left barrel repeatedly to blow it up. Area 2 - A jeep will suddenly pull up with a few enemies in it right after you try to get outside, it's about midway through the Area, but more towards the end. The same jeep (somehow) will later ram through the wall of where you're at, you can blow that up also. Also midway through the level there's a huge tank of gas that you can blow up while you're in the piping part of the level. --- SECTION #3: BOSSES --- Here I'll cover all of the bosses in the game, and advice for defeating each. LEVEL 1; Area 1 Boss - A huge cannon. Just use a machine gun on it, if you're on the 2nd player side you shouldn't even have to dodge any bullets if you're fast enough, should only take about 50 or so hits. Area 2 Boss - Uhm... A Jeep? It's not even a boss... just blow it up. Area 3 Boss - First it's a plane, and then some psycho Guile look-alike with red hair. For the plane, you can get a GREAT 100+ combo very easily here. Just use your machine gun, target the plane's lower machine gun turret, then go to either of its missile launchers (and blow up the missiles coming at you, those add to the combo) and then take out the other missile launcher. You should easily have a 100+ combo after all is said and done. Next, it'll have three turrets on each side of it, just use a machine gun on those and take them all out. The jeeps driving by you are easy to kill, just use your handgun. Then when the psycho dude comes out, his first attack will be just normal shooting stuff at you. Now you get to see the first instance of an attack I call "Stealing Combo", which is where you repeatedly shoot a boss AFTER his life bar has been depleted. The way to pull that off on this boss is to just whip out your machine gun AGAIN, and shoot him constantly with it, dodging shots, ect. it should only take about 35-40 hits. Now after he reels back, continue shooting him and you should rack up about another 20 or so hits at most. Then some enemies will come out, use the hand gun on them, then he'll come out again and start shooting normally, blast him again with the machine gun (you should be pretty low by this point, even if you saved up bullets from before) and then he'll retreat again, enemies will come out again and now you'll see him come out from the rear of the ship. He'll be throwing grenades at you, just whip out your shotgun and blow them all up for a nice 6 or so combo, and then go to town on him with the shotgun, all the while blowing up grenades. Then he'll come back out with a MASSIVE gatling-gun type weapon, which will block your shots. You must shoot his legs/head/arms to damage him. After you deplete this life bar, he's down and out. LEVEL 2; Area 1 - A bunch of big boats that take 40 hits each (or 20? Can't remember) Just whip out the shotgun or machine gun on them, you shouldn't even have to dodge. Area 2 - No boss? Forgot, sorry... Area 3 - Yet ANOTHER Claw boss in the series. He has two golden claw henchmen who will take way more damage than the normal blue suited claw enemies, and the main boss himself in red you can't do "Stealing Combo" on, but that doesn't really matter since he's easy as hell anyways. Just use the shotgun on him when he starts bouncing around the girders and then finish him off with the machine gun when he's standing near the ledge shooting rockets at you. LEVEL 3; Area 1 - Wild Dog is back yet again, and with a new partner, Wild Fang (truly the COOLEST person in the game). This is probably the biggest place in the game to rack up combos, since the only time you CAN'T "Steal Combo" from Wild Dog or Wild Fang is when Wild Fang is kneeling on a box right in front of you, on his last life bar. Otherwise you better hope you saved up your machine gun and shotgun ammo, because you're going to use it ALL. Every opportunity you get, just unload on them as much as possible. Remember never to use grenades though. Eventually Wild Fang will die or whatever, and then Wild Dog will run around, and use a flame-thrower on you. Easily dodged, then just blow him away. Area 2 - The traditional "millions of enemies" before the last boss scenario, no real boss here. Area 3 - This boss must be on steroids to take this many bullets. =X Anyways, his first attack will be to shoot a bunch of bullets at you and then slash like Cloud from FF7 crazily at you. Dodge the slashing, ect. and just machine-gun him. Then some henchmen will come out, blow them away, and then he comes back out again... repeat a few times, you follow him around and this same pattern goes on and on... blow up the computer monitors and displays to get a few more combo points. Eventually he'll jump between two big ass "electric/lightning" tanks. Just unload with the machine gun/shotgun on them, should take around 60 hits or so, but dodge their lightning attacks obviously. The main boss will come in and slash at you a few times during your attack, dodge this too. After you blow up the two tanks, a third one will roll in, if you start shooting it the minute you see it, it shouldn't even be able to get a shot off. Then the boss will equip two large rocket launcher devices, just shotgun him to death and it's end game. --- SECTION #4: WEAPONS INFO --- Handgun = Your default weapon, and in my opinion the most versatile and best weapon in the game. 9 shots at maximum, infinite ammo and fires as fast as your finger can press the trigger. Does normal damage. Machine Gun = The 2nd most valuable weapon in the game, this fires at a much faster rate than the handgun can keep up (unless you're insane with your fingers... I can get it up to machine gun rate every now and then for a second or two) and it's maximum capacity is 200 bullets. However, while the firing rate is obviously the fastest in the game, it unfortunately seems to do a tad bit less damage than the handgun, but then again that's fine for racking up combos. Don't want to kill them off too soon, now do you? :P Shotgun = 3rd most valuable weapon in the game, this has a pretty slow reload time, but it fires 5 shots at once in a sort of "X" pattern. Pretty useful for taking out enemies in large groups, but then you don't get that much of a combo since you're going to obviously miss some. It's best use is probably on the parachuting enemies right in the first area of the game, since it can nail them all and probably get around 2-3 combo hits off of each one. Seems to be more powerful than the handgun though. Maximum capacity is 50 bullets, which is 5 shots per bullet. Grenade Launcher = Stupidest weapon in the game, and should only be used if you suck. Basically it does the damage equivalent to about three or four shotgun shots, but it's maximum capacity is only 5, and the reload time is HORRIBLE, but it's the only weapon in the game with splash damage. Still, you should NEVER EVER use it if you want to get a high score. ------------------- FAQ Copyright Deep Blue Vibes AKA DBV, or my real name Dezmond Castner 2003.
