Introduction This is a FAQ/Walkthrough for the Wii game World of Goo. It contains solutions for every level and a mini-review. ******************************************************************************* II. Getting Started On the left side of the title screen is the World of Goo. There are five chapters plus the Goo Corp sandbox. At the beginning, only Chapter 1 is playable, the rest have to be unlocked. On the right side you will see options to change the current profile or to view the credits. ******************************************************************************* III. Basic Gameplay ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A. Types of Goo ............................................................................... 1. Black Goo These are first encountered in Going Up in Chapter 1. They can have a maximum of two legs and cannot be removed once placed on the structure. ............................................................................... 2. Albino Goo These are first encountered in Hang Low in Chapter 1. Like black goo, they cannot be removed once set, but they can have a maximum of four legs. ............................................................................... 3. Time Bugs Not really a goo, these first appear in Impale Sticky in Chapter 1. Clicking on a time bug causes a flash that undoes your last move. These can be very helpful, as well as very annoying because they are easy to click on by accident. It's important to note that any remaining time bugs will vanish once you meet your goal and the continue handle appears. This may not seem like a big deal, but I've messed up countless OCD tries because I couldn't undo a simple mistake! ............................................................................... 4. Green Goo The best goo in the game! These are first found in Ivy Towers in Chapter 1. Green goos can have three legs, but their best feature is the fact that they can be detached and reattached to your structure as often as you like. Using the "Leap Hole" strategy is vital in obtaining OCD in many levels containing green goos. (Special Thanks to Melissia Blackheart for her email on this) ............................................................................... 5. Balloon Goo These are pink goos that are first found in Flying Machine in Chapter 1. When these are attached to a structure they fill with air and float. Balloons can be detached and used again. ............................................................................... 6. Clear Goo You first come across these in Drool in Chapter 2. Clear goos can only have one leg and cannot be detached from the structure. ............................................................................... 7. Beauty Goo These are what make up the beauty heads. The heads must be ground up into these goos so they can enter red pipes. These first appear in Beauty School in Chapter 2. ............................................................................... 8. Red Goo Red goos are first found in Burning Man in Chapter 3. They can catch fire and can form two legs which are also flammable. Red goos cannot be detached from\ a structure. ............................................................................... 9. Bomb Bombs are first encountered in Burning Man in Chapter 3. They can form two legs that act as fuses. If the fuses come in contact with fire (usually with the help of red goos), the bomb will explode. ............................................................................... 10. Skull Goo Skull goos are first found in Chapter 3 in Misty's Long Bony Road. They can form two legs and be detached and reattached. More importantly, they are not damaged by spikes! Loose skull goos CAN enter black pipes. ............................................................................... 11. Yellow Goo You will first find these in The Third Wheel in Chapter 3. Yellow goos can have two legs and can be detached and reattached. They have the ability to stick to most surfaces. You have to be careful though, because they can be popped by spikes and other hazards. ............................................................................... 12. Sticky Bomb These are first found in You Have To Explode The Head in Chapter 3. They are just like bombs except they can detached and reattached at will. ............................................................................... 13. Circle Goo Circle goos are first found in Hello, World in Chapter 1. They cannot be attached to structures but can be grabbed and launched like rubber bands. Unlike other goos, circle goos CANNOT be picked up and carried around! ............................................................................... 14. Square Goo These are also first found in Hello, World. The can be attached to a structure. They can only have two legs and cannot be detached. ............................................................................... 15. Infected Goo These are circle goos that have been infected with the grape vine virus. They can attach one leg to other infected goos to make a vine. They cannot be detached. Infected goos are first found in Grape Vine Virus in Chapter 4. ............................................................................... 16. Road Blocks These are first found in Road Blocks in Chapter 4. They aren't really goos, put can be used to support your structure. A quick tip when handling the rectangles: pick them up by the top and they will stay vertical, in the middle and they will stay horizontal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- B. Structures/Physics The goo structures are affected by gravity, wind, etc. If you aren't careful, your structure can tip over, break, or collapse on itself. Keep in mind that the loose goos running around on your structure still have mass and can cause it to wobble and tilt. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C. Object of the Game The object of the game is simple, you must use goos to extend your structure until it reaches the pipe, the pipe will then suck up any loose goos. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D. OCD OCD stands for "Obsessive Completion Distinction Criteria". What that means is that you completed the level with the optimum solution. The criteria is available from the menu of each level and falls into three categories: Number of goos collected, number of moves, and time. Whenever you complete a level with OCD, a little flag will appear for that level on the World Map. There is no reward for getting OCD on every level, the game doesn't even bother to give you a confirmation message :( ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- E. Whistle You receive the whistle after completing the Leap Hole level in Chapter 2. It is used to complete the next level, Whistler. You use the whistle by clicking on an empty part of the structure. It will call the goos to that area. This is useful for two reasons: you can call the goos so you don't have to go searching for building material and for redistributing weight so you can cut down on wobble or intentionally tip over a structure! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- F. Moves and Time When you complete a level, on the stats screen in addition to how many goos you collected, it also shows you how many moves you made and how much time it took. Some OCDs require you to finish the level under a certain number of moves or within a time limit, so it's important to know just how these are tallied. A move is pretty much anything you do that adds or takes away from a structure. This includes attaching a goo, removing a green goo, as well as attaching or detaching balloons. Simply picking up a goo, throwing a goo, dropping a goo, or setting him down on a structure (WITHOUT attaching him) does NOT count as a move. Time is simply the time from when the level begins until you click on continue after you have met the completion requirements. Needless to say, you should be prepared to click on continue as fast as possible when going for time OCDs. ******************************************************************************* IV. Chapter 1 "The Goo Filled Hills" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A. Going Up "Easy As Goo Pie" Goal: 4 goos OCD: Collect 11 or more goos This is the tutorial level. All you have to do is build your structure tall enough to reach the pipe. Here we are first introduced to black goos. These can be used to extend the structure. You have to be careful, once you place a black goo, it's stuck there and can't be removed. Your structure starts out looking like this: _ _ _ _ |\ /| | \ / | | / \ | |/ _ _ \| STEP 1: First you want to add a right triangle to the left side of the top: |\ | \ | \ |_ _ _ \ |\ /| | \ / | | / \ | |/_ _ \| STEP 2: Next you add a second triangle to the top, completing the box: _ _ _ _ |\ | | \ | | \ | |_ _ _ \| |\ /| | \ / | | / \ | |/_ _ \| STEP 3: Now repeat those two steps to add another box to your structure: _ _ _ _ |\ | | \ | | \ | |_ _ _ \| |\ | | \ | | \ | |_ _ _ \| |\ /| | \ / | | / \ | |/_ _ \| STEP 4: Now add a triangle, making sure the top of it reaches the pipe: ^ / \ / \ /_ _ _ \ |\ | | \ | | \ | |_ _ _ \| |\ | | \ | | \ | |_ _ _ \| |\ /| | \ / | | / \ | |/_ _ \| You're Finished! All you have to do now is wait for the pipe to suck up your loose goos. Once they have been collected, click on continue (make sure you've gotten all of them first). ............................................................................... OCD To get OCD, you can only use THREE goos to extend the structure. STEP 1: Build a triangle in the center of the box (stretch as high as possible). STEP 2: Next build a triangle to the right of that one. STEP 3: Now add a triangle on top, stretching as close to the pipe as you can. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- B. Small Divide "Easier Than It Looks" Goal: 8 goos OCD: Collect 16 or more goos You will notice some new additions here. On the other side of the gap you will notice some sleeping black goos. Sleeping goos cannot be used to build. In order to wake them up, you must get your structure close to them. The second thing you will notice are the two signs (the second one is up above the pipe). These were left here by the mysterious sign painter. They serve two purposes: to give you hints on how to solve the level and to tell the game's story. I won't reveal the messages here because they contain plot spoilers. If you are interested, I have created a separate FAQ that contains all sign locations and messages. The solution is pretty simple. You will first build a bridge over the gap, then wake up the sleeping goos, and finally build up to the pipe. Your structure starts out like this: _ _ _ _ /|\ | / | \ | / | \ | /_ _ _|_ _ _ \| STEP 1: Start by building a triangle to the right, place it on the ground for support: _ _ _ _ /|\ |\ / | \ | \ / | \ | \ / _ _ _|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \ STEP 2: Next add another triangle to complete the box: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ /|\ |\ | / | \ | \ | / | \ | \ | / _ _ _|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \| STEP 3: Add two more boxes just like that: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ /|\ |\ |\ |\ | / | \ | \ | \ | \ | / | \ | \ | \ | \ | / _ _ _|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \| _ _ _\| STEP 4: Your structure is now beginning to sag. If you add a triangle to the end, it should reach the ledge and stabilize your structure: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ /|\ |\ |\ |\ | \ / | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ / | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ / _ _ _|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \| _ _ _\|_ _ _ _ STEP 5: Now finish the box on the end (yours will be slanted like a rhombus): _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ /|\ |\ |\ |\ |\ | / | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ | / | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ | / _ _ _|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \| _ _ _\|_ _ _ \| STEP 6: The sleeping goos should now be awake and climbing onto your structure. Build a triangle on the end of your structure: _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ /|\ |\ |\ |\ |\ |\ / | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ / | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ / _ _ _|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \| _ _ _\|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \ STEP 7: Now you should be able to build a triangle up to the pipe: / | / | _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ / | /|\ |\ |\ |\ |\ |\ | / | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ | / | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ | / _ _ _|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \| _ _ _\|_ _ _ \|_ _ _ \| All done! ............................................................................... OCD Mike11986 emailed me the following OCD strategy: The trick is to stretch your triangles as far as you can. STEP 1: Start out by making a triangle whose bottom is flat with the ground. STEP 2: Add the next triangle, make sure it's top is level with the top of the bridge. STEP 3: Add two more triangles, stretching them as far as you can. STEP 4: Add another triangle, by holding your goo where you want the bridge to land, your structure should sway high enough. STEP 5: Once the bridge is across the gap, add two more triangles. STEP 6: Once you've woken the sleeping goos, stretch one more triangle to the pipe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C. Hang Low "Wake Up The Sleeping Goo" Goal: 8 goos OCD: Collect 22 or more goos Note: The ASCII is taking WAY too long, so from now on I'll just do my best to explain the solutions in words. Here we are introduced to the Albino goos. They are similar to black goos, except they can have a maximum of four legs. The solution is fairly easy. First build a ladder down to the sleeping goos to wake them. Then build a tower up to the pipe. Easy! After finishing this level, Goo Corp will now be unlocked and is accessible from both the title screen and any world map. ............................................................................... OCD someguy233 posted the following strategy on the GameFAQs message board: Grab one of your goo balls and throw him down HARD against the sleeping goos, they will bounce up towards the web and wake up. It may take a while to get them all, but eventually you will! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D. Impale Sticky "If You Get In Trouble, Just Go Back In Time" Goal: 26 goos OCD: Collect 42 or more goos This level marks the first appearance of the time bugs. Click on a time bug to cause a flash that undoes your last move. This is the first tricky stage. You have to loop your structure around the ledge to reach the sleeping goos and pipe. There are two obstacles to overcome, there are spinning grinders on the ledge that will pop your structure when touched and gravity, if you put too much weight on the left side of your structure, it will fall off! One important fact to keep in mind is that the loose goos scurrying around on your structure still have weight and can cause it to wobble. Start off by building some squares to the RIGHT. This will provide some counter-weight to keep your structure from tipping over. Next very carefully snake your structure around the ledge (making sure to avoid the grinders. Once you manage to get a leg on the top, the rest is smooth sailing. After beating this level, the path splits in two ... ............................................................................... OCD cat emailed me the following strategy: You don't need the counterweights to the right! When you start out, build towards the LEFT with a triangle, then another one on the side of the cliff for a brace, then work your way to the top. Once you reach the top, you need to build directly towards the pipe, if you try building towards the sleeping goos, you won't have enough to reach the OCD. To wake up the sleeping goos, just bounce some goos off of them to nudge them towards your structure. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- E. Ivy Towers "Brace Yourself" Goal: 2 goos OCD: Collect 16 or more goos Here we meet the best goo in the game, the green goo. Green goos can have three legs, but more importantly they can be detached and reattached as many times as you like! This level is not that difficult and a lot of fun. Your goal is to make your structure crawl up the sides until you reach the pipe. First create a triangle on the top left and stretch it until it hits the side, then repeat on the right side. Then put a goo on top so it makes a hexagon shape. Repeat this pattern until you run out of loose goos, then start plucking them off the bottom of the structure. Keep repeating the hexagon and your structure will slowly rise towards the pipe. The gap will start to widen as you climb and when you get near the sign, you will have to change your strategy. Nothing too major, you will just have to start making triangles on the sides to make your structure wide enough. Keep making your way to the top, remember you only need to collect 2 goos to win. ............................................................................... OCD Goonster emailed me the following OCD strategy: Once your structure reaches the pipe, detach the segment being vacuumed into the pipe from the rest of the structure. Now you just remove the rest of the goos from your main structure one at a time and place them on this segment. When you are finished, remove the bottom goo from the segment, this will cause the top goo to get sucked into the pipe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- F. Tumbler "Keep Growing" Goal: 8 goos OCD: Collect 35 or more goos This stage is very annoying, but easy to complete if you know what to do. The main problem is that the room is spinning and if you try to build a straight tower, it will just keep toppling over. Your goal is to build a ball around the white square. Start by making an equilateral triangle on the top. Then make three more on the other sides (wait for the structure to get turned over). Then put goos between the triangles to make a ball shape. Keep doing this over and over and it will eventually grow big enough to reach the pipe. You only need 8 goos to win so you shouldn't have any trouble making your quota. ............................................................................... OCD cat emailed me the following OCD strategy: Once your structure reaches the pipe, quickly disconnect a strand of two goos so they stay connected to the pipe. Then you just have to ferry the rest of your goos one at a time up to the pipe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- G. Chain "Balance" Goal: 15 goos OCD: Collect 25 or more goos This is a simple level. Start off by using your green goos to create a chain down to the sleeping goos on the left. Once they are all awake, you can dismantle your chain and use the green goos to build a new chain on the right side. Once those goos are awake, dismantle your chain again and build a tower under the pipe (using only green goos). The head rotates so you need to build on both sides to keep it stable. ............................................................................... OCD Start by building a structure of green goos to the pipe. Once it is activated, detach a segment of two goos from the rest of the structure. This segment will now be suspended in air, being held up by the pipe's suction. Now build down to the sleeping goos like before. Ferry all of your goos one at a time up to the pipe. When you are done, remove the bottom goo from the segment, this will cause the top one to get sucked into the pipe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- H. Flying Machine "Some Balls Are Lighter Than Other Balls" Goal: 4 goos OCD: Complete level in 16 seconds or less This is the first level the balloon goos appear in. Very easy level. All you have to do is open the gates, then attach a couple of balloons to the box. Start off by attaching the two loose balloon goos on top to the right side of the top gate (there are already two there). The top gate will open. Then attach the remaining four balloons to the left side of the second gate. Once that is opened, all you have to do is remove a balloon from each gate and attach them to a corner on the box. Once you have two balloons on the box, it will float right up to the pipe. ............................................................................... OCD The trick to OCDing this level is to attach a couple of extra balloons to the structure to make it float faster. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Fisty's Bog "Not Too High, Not Too Low" Goal: 6 goos OCD: Complete level in 14 moves or less Your goal here is to make a bridge from the frog to the pipe. The problem is that the top and bottom are lined with spikes. Without the balloons your bridge will sag and hit the lower spikes, use the balloons and if they hit the ceiling they will pop. The trick is to attach the balloons to the BOTTOM of your bridge, that gives you more head room to work with. STEP 1: Start off by collecting all your balloon goos and attaching them to the goo ball on TOP of the structure directly under Fisty's nose. This isn't really necessary at the moment, but I find inflating all the balloons before starting makes them easier to grab when you are in a hurry. Unless I say otherwise, when I say grab a balloon, assume it means from this bunch. STEP 2: First build a box out of two triangles directly to the right of your bridge. Then take on balloon from the bunch and shift it one goo over (keep on TOP). STEP 3: Now build a second box, afterwards take another balloon and shift it one goo over (should now be TWO balloons on the second top goo ball). STEP 4: Now it gets tricky. Build a single triangle to the right. Afterwards attach a balloon to the BOTTOM goo one slot to the right of your two balloons. STEP 5: Finish the box and add another balloon to the same spot you did last time. STEP 6: Add another balloon to the same bunch (should have three on bottom) THEN add the triangle. Now you have to QUICKLY shift the balloon you just added one slot over. STEP 7: Now take the final remaining balloon of the original bunch and move it one space over on the TOP. STEP 8: Now the pipe is in striking distance. First add a triangle on TOP of the end of the bridge and then quickly add another triangle to the side to hit the pipe. ............................................................................... OCD Mike11986 emailed me the following strategy: "The trick to this one is being quick and extending your goos as far as you can make them go. 1 Move: Add a triangle sticking straight out towards the bottom. 3 Moves: Add two more triangles (as far as you can go). 4 Moves: Add a balloon to the end of your third triangle (this should be at the bottom of your structure). 6 Moves: Add two more triangles. 7 Moves: Add another balloon where the first one was. 9 Moves: Add two more triangles. 10 Moves: Add a balloon directly to the right of the first two. 12 Moves: Add two more triangles. 13 Moves: Add another balloon where you just did. 14 Moves: Add one more triangle and reach the pipe. If you stretched as far as you can, you will be able to get in. Even with this strategy, it took several tries and some luck." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- J. Tower of Goo "Higher and Higher" Goal: 25 goos OCD: Collect 68 or more goos This level is simple, especially if you have spent any time in Goo Corp. STEP 1: Build a square to the left of your structure. STEP 2: Build a square to the right of your structure. STEP 3: Add NINE layers (3 squares each) on to the top of your structure. STEP 4: Add TWO boxes in the center of the top of your structure. STEP 5: Extend a triangle to the pipe. ............................................................................... OCD Here's how I got OCD: - The bottom TWO layers of my tower consisted of three blocks. - The next SIX layers consisted of two blocks (on LEFT side of structure). - The last THREE layers consisted of only one block (again on LEFT side). - Topped off with a triangle stretched to the pipe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- K. Ode to the Bridge Builder "It Looks Harder Than It Is" Goal: 8 goos OCD: Collect 38 or more goos This isn't too bad, you have to build a bridge over the gap. Start out by making your base wider. Then build at a diagonal up and to the right. When the bridge gets too unstable, add some braces underneath. STEP 1: Build two squares to the right of the structure. STEP 2: Build a triangle UNDER the second square to act as a brace against the cliff. STEP 3: Now build up and to the right using layers of two squares each. STEP 4: Keep building till you reach the other cliff. If your structure collapses, just use a time bug, then use a couple of goos to brace the UNDERSIDE of the bridge next to the cliff on the left. STEP 5: Once you reach the cliff, just extend your structure to the pipe. ............................................................................... OCD Telcontar emailed me the following OCD strategy: The trick to getting OCD here is to build a VERTICAL tower, making sure it collapses to the right and forms a bridge. OR HempFriend posted this solution on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tF2LljxuImU Basically what you do is build FIVE triangles along the side of the cliff, then build at a diagonal up and to the right. After every few blocks, use the whistle on the left side of the structure to get the goos off the arm, making it less likely to collapse. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- L. Regurgitation Pumping Station "It's A Secret" Goal: Make it to the top OCD: Finish in 42 or fewer moves This is probably the first level that people get stumped on (myself included). The goal is to make it all the way to the top (and beyond). Start out by making a wide boat. It should stretch all the way across the stomach. Next build a tower up the esophagus. Don't worry about the grinders, they will break your structures, but they goos DON'T die. Once your towers hit the rollers, it will be sucked upwards. Once you reach the top, it seems like there is nothing more to do. What you are supposed to do is grab the eyes and attach them to your structure. Attach enough and it will float into the sky. A cut scene will play letting you know that you have completed Chapter 1! ............................................................................... OCD Mike11986 emailed me the following OCD strategy: "The OCD strategy for this one is about the same, but the key is to NOT detach your goos in the process. Each detachment and reattachment is two moves. You may need to do some detaching in the esophagus, but avoid this as much as possible. As soon as you reach the top of the esophagus, just move the eyeballs around the top and lift the structure." ******************************************************************************* V. Chapter 2 "Little Miss World of Goo" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A. Drool "Welcome Back" Goal: 10 goos OCD: Collect 24 or more goos This is another easy level. The clear goos here can only have one leg and cannot be removed from the structure once attached. STEP 1: Grab a clear goo and attach it to the end of the "snot". STEP 2: Attach FIVE more clear goos to the end of the chain, it should be close enough to the water to wake up some of the sleeping green goos. STEP 3: Use green goos to extend the bottom of the structure to the left and right in order to wake up the rest of the green goos. STEP 4: Use green goos to build an extension from the middle of the chain to the pipe. STEP 5: Detach any green goos at the bottom of the chain and wait for them to reach the pipe before ending the level. ............................................................................... OCD Mike11986 emailed me the following strategy: Use SIX clear goos to reach the sleeping green goos in the water like usual, then build towards the pipe. Once you reach the pipe, build one more triangle to the LEFT of the pipe. After the loose goos have been sucked into the pipe, detach this triangle so that you have a segment with one goo being sucked into the pipe and the other leaning against the wall on the left. Now ferry the remaining green goos to the pipe. When you are finished, remove the goo that's against the wall, the other goo will get sucked into the pipe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- B. Fly Away Little Ones "Multi-Terrain Hover Mobile" Goal: 4 goos OCD: Collect 12 or more goos STEP 1: First we need to float the structure over to the sleeping goos. Start by attaching a balloon to the top of the structure. Then attach a balloon to the goo directly to the RIGHT of that one. Don't worry, the structure won't float off the screen. STEP 2: Now remove the leftmost balloon and place it on the first empty goo on the right side of the structure. Repeat this over and over. Your structure will start to spin and move towards the right of the screen. STEP 3: Once the structure is directly over the sleeping goos, remove the top balloon and wait for the structure to float to the ground. Once you have collected all of your passengers, reattach the balloon to the top. STEP 4: Now we need to float over to the pipe. Keep shifting balloons to the LEFT until the structure is hovering over the pipe. Now begin using the clear goos to create a chain down to the pipe. After you have dropped a couple of these, your structure will begin to drop. Go ahead and attach the final balloon to your structure. You may have to shift some balloons left and right to recenter your structure over the pipe. Continue with the chain and once it gets close enough, the vacuum will kick in and suck up the goos. ............................................................................... OCD Telcontar and Mike11986 each sent me an email with the following strategy: Start out by using the spikes to break the initial structure into a triangle. Then go pick up the remaining goos. The structure will be small enough to fit between the middle of the spikes, so you can maneuver it right next to the pipe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- C. Blustery Day "Here Come The Windmills" Goal: 9 goos OCD: Collect 18 or more goos I absolutely love this level! As "Bill Gates Son" on the message boards put it, this level is "****ing epic"! The obstacle here is the windmill. It provides three challenges. First, it's solid so you have to go over it. Second the blades will break your structure on contact. Thirdly, the wind will blow your chain towards the right of your screen, this becomes an issue after you have cleared the windmill and are trying to drop down to the pipe. Before we begin, remember to make use of the time bugs if you mess up! STEP 1: Start by attaching all your balloons to the clear goo on the tip of your structure. From now on whenever I tell you to attach a balloon, take it from this bunch. STEP 2: Attach a clear goo to the end of the chain and then attach a balloon to that goo. STEP 3: Add three more goos/balloons to the chain. STEP 4: Add another clear goo to the chain, but this time add THREE balloons. Your chain should now contain six clear goos. STEP 5: Add a clear goo and TWO balloons to your chain. STEP 6: Add another clear goo and TWO more balloons. STEP 7: Add one clear and ONE balloon. STEP 8: Add one more clear and ONE final balloon. We will now try to go down to the pipe. STEP 9: Add FIVE more clear goos and NO balloons to the chain. STEP 10: You should be close enough to the pipe now, add one final clear goo (stretch it towards the pipe) and you should be finished! ............................................................................... OCD I was able to get OCD by using the above strategy! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- D. Welcoming Unit "Please Wipe Your Feet" Goal: 36 goos OCD: Collect 61 or more goos Very easy level. STEP 1: Grab two balloons off the cloud and attach them to the yellow lever. STEP 2: Attach your green goos to the cable. Some of the black goos will jump on. As your structure is pulled up the chain, try to make it taller. The black goos will move to the top and will be more likely to make it over the Freedom Scraper 3000 and into the disposal hole. STEP 3: After reaching the top, the goos that made it will attach themselves to the pentagonal structure. Those that didn't will be swept back to where they started. Grab any green goos on the pentagon and carry them back to the rest of the goos. Attach your green goos to the chain again to pick up some more black goos. Repeat until you have all of them on your pentagon. STEP 4: Now all you have to do is attach four more balloons to the pentagon and it will float right up to the pipe. ............................................................................... OCD You may notice that there doesn't seem to be enough goos to make OCD. The secret is that you need to break the chain! STEP 1: Make sure you have ONE green goo remaining on the left side of the screen. STEP 2: The extra weight will make it necessary for ALL of your balloons to be attached to the structure. Make sure the extra balloons are already in the disposal pit on the right. Then remove the three balloons from the yellow lever. To get them into the disposal pit, carry one up underneath the grinder and let go. It will inflate and push the lever up enough to make it through. Grab it before it is carried back down and you can drop it in the pit. Do the same with the other two. STEP 3: Now to break the chain! You do this by attaching a green goo to the RIGHT side of the chain. This will cause it to bulge out and hit the grinder. Now you just have to sit back and wait for the gears to push all of the goos into the disposal pit. STEP 4: Once all of the goos are in the pit, simply attach all of your balloons to the structure to send it to the pipe. I ended up getting 85 goos! That's equal to +49 Goo Corp goos! Sinael sent me an email with three tips on getting even more goos!: 1.) You actually lose a couple of goos off the chain when it breaks. To prevent this, attach a balloon to the goo in front of where the chain will break. This will lift the chain up so you don't miss any! 2.) You can also get more goos by destroying the original structure in the disposal pit! First you need to make a second structure to the side of this one using green goos, then detach it. You will now have two separate structures, each with black goos. Float these up one at a time to get the black goos to the pipe. Now float the black structure over to the Freedom Scraper 3000 to break it and free the goos. 3.) When you fly the green structure to the pipe, use the "leap hole" technique to get all the green goos except two into the pipe. You should have a structure with two green goos and one balloon (the balloon should be attached to the goo being sucked into the pipe). Remove the bottom goo first and send him into the pipe. Now you have a structure of only a single green goo and a balloon. If you remove the balloon, the last green goo will get sucked into the pipe. If you did it correctly you should have gotten every single goo into the pipe! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- E. Beauty School "It's Time To Work!" Goal: 16 goos OCD: Finish level in 21 seconds or less Wow! Not only do we get a new type of goo, but a new pipe as well! The head has to be ground up into beauty goos and only these will be sucked into the pipe. STEP 1: Attach the two balloons to the structure to move it out of the way. The head will roll down. STEP 2: Once the head stops, pull off a green goo to break the chain. The head will be ground up into beauty goos. STEP 3: Use a green goo to extend the structure to the red pipe. ............................................................................... OCD To get OCD on this level, all you have to do is the exact same steps as fast as you can. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- F. Leap Hole "It's Not A Bug, It's A Feature" Goal: 6 goos OCD: Finish level in 13 seconds or less Another easy level. The goal here is to extend your structure to the pipe, then to strategically remove goos, relying on the pipe's vacuum to keep the structure from falling over. NOTE: This strategy can (and MUST) be used in other levels containing green goos in order to obtain OCD! (Special Thanks to Melissia Blackheart for her email on this) STEP 1: Add three triangles to the top of the structure in a zigzag fashion to reach the pipe. STEP 2: * * * 1 * * * * 2 * * The goos should be in a structure similar to this one. Remove the goo at position 1 and let him loose on the structure. Next remove the goo at position 2 and let him go. Both of those goos should get sucked into the pipe. STEP 3: * * 3 * * * * * 4 Your structure should now look like this. Remove the goos at positions 3 and 4. STEP 4: * * 8 * 7 * 6 * 5 Now remove the goos in order from positions 5, 6, and 7. When you remove goo 8, you have to let him go quickly because the pipe will turn off once the structure is gone. If you have done this properly, you should have collected 8 of the 9 goos! After completing the level, you will receive a message saying you have unlocked the whistle. ............................................................................... OCD Do this in 13 seconds or less to get the OCD, having a friend help makes this a lot easier! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- G. Whistler "Learn How!" Goal: 20 goos OCD: Finish level in 29 seconds or less This very easy level is meant to be a tutorial on how to use the whistle. STEP 1: Click on the far left of the whistle to call the goos. Their weight will cause it to tip over and wake the sleeping goos. STEP 2: Use two of the clear goos to extend the chain on the right side of the whistle down to the pipe. ............................................................................... OCD This is a very easy level to OCD, just do the above as fast as you can. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- H. Volcanic Percolator Day Spa "Bubble Up" Goal: 12 goos OCD: Finish level in 30 moves or less STEP 1: Carefully build up the structure below the head. The goal is to get it high enough to get sucked up into the grinder. Try to keep the head in the center. If it falls off, just use a time bug.
Be sure to keep away from the flower! It will pop your structure.
STEP 2:
Once you get it high enough, the head will get sucked into the current and
broken up by the grinder. Take apart your structure so the beauty goos will
fall to the bottom of the pit.
STEP 3:
Use your green goos to extend the black structure to the red pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD
Mike11986 emailed me the following OCD strategy:
There are two tricks to getting OCD here. The first is to make sure your
structure is solidly against the walls as you build up. This will cause the
head to bounce higher when you build underneath it.
The second trick is that once the head is broken up, build towards the flower,
this will cause your structure to disintegrate and allow the beauty goos to
drop to the bottom.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I. Beauty And The Electric Tentacle "How Did She Get Up There?"
Goal: 16 goos OCD: Collect 29 or more goos
The idea here is to move the head along the power line.
STEP 1:
You guessed it! Start off by attaching all of your balloons to the topmost
goo.
STEP 2:
Add a goo to the end of the chain and attach a balloon to it.
STEP 3:
Add FOUR more goos to the end of the chain.
STEP 4:
Add FOUR balloons to the end of the chain.
STEP 5:
Attach the other four balloons to the goo to the left of the head.
STEP 6:
Attach FOUR more goos to the end of the chain.
STEP 7:
Shift the right set of balloons to the end of the chain.
STEP 8:
Shift the left set of balloons to the goo to the left of the head.
STEP 9:
Add 3 more goos to the end of the chain.
STEP 10:
Shift the right set of balloons to the end of the chain.
STEP 11:
Shift the left set of balloons to the goo to the left of the head.
STEP 12:
Shift the left set of balloons two more goos to the right.
STEP 13:
Release the four balloons on the end of the chain. The head should roll into
the grinders and the goos will fall onto the structure.
STEP 14:
Grab a white goo and extend the structure to the pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD
In order to get OCD, you can use no more than EIGHT blacks goos to extend the
"tentacle". After adding the goos, carefully maneuver the balloons so that
the head lands on the cliff (it takes a few tries, the time bugs are VERY
helpful!).
After the head gets ground up and you reach the pipe, all you have to do is
ferry your remaining black goos from the tentacle to the cliff. They should
manage to roll down to the pipe on their own.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
J. The Red Carpet "Get Ready For The Close-Up"
Goal: 10 goos OCD: Finish level in 45 moves or less
STEP 1:
First you need to extend the green structure from wall to wall so it can
catch the head when it falls.
STEP 2:
Build a tower of white goos straight up on the block. Eventually the block
will descend and activate the red carpet.
STEP 3:
The head will roll down onto the green structure. Help move it along to the
right into the suction.
STEP 4:
Once the head as been sucked up and ground into smaller goos, extend your
green structure up to the pipe. Use the time bugs if you get into trouble.
...............................................................................
OCD
The trick to getting OCD on The Red Carpet is to not waste moves trying to
get the carpet to fall.
STEP 1:
Like before, start out by building the green structure to catch the head.
STEP 2:
Instead of building on the block, grab some white goos and throw them in the
air up and to the left.
STEP 3:
Once you have a goo to the left of the carpet, throw him against the TOP of
the carpet, this should cause it to fall and the head to roll down.
STEP 4:
Use your white goo to nudge the head into the suction.
STEP 5:
Once the head is sucked up and broken apart, just extend the green goos to the
pipe.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
K. Genetic Sorting Machine "Some Balls Are Prettier Than Other Balls"
Goal: 8 goos OCD: Finish level in 24 moves or less
Note: There are no time bugs on this level, so be careful!
STEP 1:
Use the green goos to build a structure to push the yellow heads, on at a time,
into the machine on the left.
STEP 2:
Once the pit has been filled, push the pink head into the machine on the right.
STEP 3:
Break the two green chains blocking the head's path.
STEP 4:
Once on the summit, attach four balloons to the structure to lift the hand
to the pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD
The trick to getting OCD here is to bounce goos in order to save moves.
STEP 1:
Use a single goo to build under the tan head on the left. It should get sucked
into the stream.
STEP 2:
Grab a loose green goo and throw him repeatedly against the side of the next
tan head to coax it into the stream on the left.
STEP 3:
Build under the tan head in order to raise it up, then throw a goo against it
to send it into the suction.
STEP 4:
Build under the red head to raise it up, then throw a goo against it till it
makes it to the suction on the RIGHT.
STEP 5:
Break the green chains when the head reaches them.
STEP 6:
Attach 3 balloons to the triangle to lift it to the pipe.

VI. Chapter 3 "Cog In The Machine"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A. Burning Man "Welcome To The Factory"
Goal: 4 goos OCD: Finish level in 11 moves or less
The first level in Chapter 3 is a tutorial on how to use red goos and bombs.
The head is blocking the pipe, to move it you have to light the matches and
explode the bombs.
STEP 1:
Extend the structure so it reaches the flame. You have plenty of red goos,
so it should be easy.
STEP 2:
Once the structure reaches the flame, it will catch fire and go up in smoke.
The pipe is now clear, so all you have to do is attach the two balloons to the
structure and it will float to the pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD
ansley0269 posted the following strategy on the GameFAQs message board:
It is possible to beat this stage in two moves! First grab a red goo and
fling it to the right towards the flame so it will bounce off the wall and
back onto the structure. If you do it right, the goo will catch fire then
light the structure.
It may take a few tries, but throwing a goo does NOT count as a move and since
you can't rescue any of the red goos anyway, so if it isn't working for you,
just keep trying.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B. Second Hand Smoke "Some Balls Are More Flammable Than Other Balls"
Goal: 12 goos OCD: Collect 25 or more goos
The goal here is to burn away the red goos around the white structure so it
will fall into the hand and enable the black goos to reach the pipe.
STEP 1:
First use the red goos to build on the SIDES of the white structure so that
the wooden legs are connected in a circle around the structure. They need
to be even so both sides burn at the same time.
STEP 2:
Build as straight down as possible to the flame. The flame will travel up
and burn off the wooden legs allowing the structure to drop down. If you did
it right, it should land in the hand. The goos will then climb aboard and into
the pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD
Irzunn emailed me the following OCD strategy:
After STEP 1, move all but 3 red goos down to the hand. Then build down
to the flame.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C. Super Fuse Challenge Time "Everyone's A Winner"
Goal: 10 goos OCD: Collect 32 or more goos
The trick here is to work fast, once the flame reaches the top, your structure
will go up in smoke! You have plenty of red goos to work with and since they
can't enter the red pipe anyway, so go nuts!
STEP 1:
Build up your structure to the clouds to wake up at least three groups of
pink goos.
STEP 2:
Extend your structure to the pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD
In order to get OCD, just build as fast as you can. You have to get all 32
pink goos, which means your structure needs to reach all eight clouds. Once
all the pink goos are awake, use your whistle on the pipe to hurry them along.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D. Upper Shaft "Strategic Demolition"
Goal: 10 goos OCD: Collect 45 or more goos
You need to do three things: lower the explosive between your structure and
pipe, light the fuse, and then build a bridge to the pipe.
This stage can be tricky (especially during Step 7) so make use of the time
bugs.
STEP 1:
First we need to lower the explosives. You'll notice that above the bomb is
a chain of goos with a bunch of loose green goos on it:
*
1*
*3
2*
*
Add green goos to positions 1 and 2. Now remove the green goo at position 3.
This will increase the length of the chain. You will have to do this a total
of NINE times. When you are done, you should have one loose goo remaining.
STEP 2:
Once the explosive is in place, ferry all of the red goos except for one up
to the chain on top of the box. This will keep them safe and give you some
extra goos to work with later on.
STEP 3:
Now we are going to extend the fuse the same way we did the chain.
*
*
1*
*
2*
Grab your last free green goo and place him on the fuse in position 1 then add
your red goo to position 2. Then remove the green goo to extend the fuse.
STEP 4:
Place your green goo on the fuse and go grab one more red goo from up top.
Extend the fuse like you did in Step 3. This time when you remove the green
goo, hold on to him and wait for the fuse to finish burning and the bomb to
explode.
STEP 5:
You can now use your rescued green goo and two of the red goos to add TWO links
to the chain hanging from the ceiling using the usual technique.
STEP 6:
Use your black goos to extend the structure to the ceiling chain.
STEP 7:
All that's left to do is to (carefully!) extend to the pipe. If you hit the
spikes and pop your structure, use a time bug to retry.
...............................................................................
OCD
alex78160 posted an excellent video on how to OCD this stage on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXzu30W17C8
He uses four "tricks" to accomplish this:
TRICK 1:
When extending the chain to lower the box, he alternates between using green
and red goos.
TRICK 2:
This one's a doozy! You see that metal pin that is left on the bottom of the
chain after the explosion? That pin is actually magnetic! The idea is to
get it stuck on the wall on the right. To do that, build two triangles to the
LEFT of it. Now highlight the goo on the left and repeatedly press A. This
will motion will cause the structure to swing to the right.
Once you've gotten the magnet on the wall, use a green goo to build a triangle
directly under the magnet and braced against the wall. Now disconnect this
structure from the chain, if you did it right, it should now be stuck to the
wall. If your structure falls, use a time bug and try again.
TRICK 3:
Now use your remaining loose goos to extend the structure LEFT. The idea is
to create a net to catch the goos you remove from the chain. When you are
done, go ahead and remove all of the goos from the chain hanging from the
ceiling. Use the extra green goos to extend the structure to the other one
on the left side of the cliff.
TRICK 4:
Once you've gotten all of the goos off the black structure, disconnect the
green goos and build towards the pipe. Once all the loose goos go in, it's
time for another "Leap Hole" trick. Disconnect a segment from the main
structure and ferry your remaining goos to the pipe.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E. Misty's Long Bony Road "A Love Story"
Goal: 8 goos OCD: Collect 26 or more goos
Looks like Fisty's made a friend! A lot of people seem to have trouble with
this level, but it's not that bad. The main idea is to build a bridge using
the skulls as support.
STEP 1:
Build a box to the right of the structure using two goos. Now attach a skull
to this new box.
STEP 2:
Build another box and attach a loose skull to the bottom.
STEP 3:
Build yet another box and attach a loose skull to the bottom.
STEP 4:
Build another box but this time do NOT add a skull to the bottom.
STEP 5:
Add another box and put the last loose skull on the bottom.
STEP 6:
Build another box. Remove the second skull from the LEFT (in the middle of
the trio) and place it here.
STEP 7:
Shift the leftmost skull one box to the right.
STEP 8:
Add a new box and move the second skull from the left here.
STEP 9:
Add a box (NO skull this time).
STEP 10:
Add another box and move the second skull from the left here.
STEP 11:
Build another box, this time move the second skull from the RIGHT here.
STEP 12:
Build another box and again move the second skull from the right here.
STEP 13:
Build a box and shift the second skull from the right over one box to the
right.
STEP 14:
Build a box and shift the right-most box to the right one square.
STEP 15:
Build a box, don't move any skulls.
STEP 16:
Build one final box, again don't move any skulls.
STEP 17:
Build a TRIANGLE on the right side of the structure and stretch it to the
structure, it will just barely make it!
...............................................................................
OCD
If you used the strategy above, you should have collected 24 goos, just two
shy of the OCD! This isn't obvious, but as the sign says the skulls ARE
goos and as such are able to enter black pipes!
Carefully remove the skulls (starting from the LEFT-most) and let them loose on
the structure near the pipe. You should be able to get three of the four.
Irzunn emailed me another OCD strategy:
"Make a "wheel" from the skull goos. First attach all four skull goos to the
black structure, then detach the first two, leaving an independent structure of
two skull goos.
Then make a structure like this (From the skulls):
o--o (a)
/ \/
o--o
Detach the skull from pos a. The structure should then roll to the right.
Reattach that skull to complete the structure once again. Repeat this until you
reach the big hill. From here you got to sacrifice some of the black goos (I
used 3 if I remember correctly) to tip the balance toward the right direction.
Move the black goos to the skulls on the top of the hill then create the final
structure from there. I managed to save 41 goos (waa...y more than the OCD
) this way (and it could've been better, I made some mistakes
along the way)"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F. The Third Wheel "Hey, Look Over There!"
Goal: 16 goos OCD: Finish in 9 moves or less
The goal here is to use the yellow goo to attach your structure to the
moving wheels and carry it to the top of the level. The only real difficulty
here comes from the fact that the titular third wheel is covered in spikes!
STEP 1:
Use two loose green goos to build a box on top of your structure.
STEP 2:
Attach the yellow goo to the top of the box so that it will grab onto the
spinning wheel.
STEP 3:
Once the structure reaches the top of the wheel, detach the yellow goo and
reattach it to the other side of the triangle and grab the second wheel.
STEP 4:
Allow the structure to ride around on the wheel for one full rotation so you
can collect the two skull goos sitting on a cloud.
STEP 5:
The third wheel is covered in spikes, so when you start to approach, attach
the two skull goos to the side facing it. Quickly attach the yellow goo to
one of the flat grey blocks(they're the only safe spots on the third wheel).
STEP 6:
Once you reach the top right, the structure will automatically be scraped off
the wheel.
STEP 7:
Use a green goo to extend the structure to the pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD Strategy
In order to get OCD, follow the above strategy, but in step 5, attach only ONE
skull goo to your structure.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G. Water Lock "Eureka"
Goal: 36 goos OCD: Collect 44 or more goos
This is one of those levels that will give you fits trying to figure out what
to do. As the title suggests, it all as to do with buoyancy ...
STEP 1:
Wait. Just sit tight and wait for your structure to collect all of those
black goos bouncing around.
STEP 2:
Attach the yellow goo to the middle of the "wishbone" and let it drag you
under the water.
STEP 3:
Once are underneath the pipe, release the yellow goo to go flying up towards
the pipe.
STEP 4:
Repeat as necessary.
...............................................................................
OCD
To get OCD, you must collect all 44 black goos. Just keep repeating Steps 1-3
a few times and you shouldn't have any trouble.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
H. You Have To Explode The Head "The Original Cog In The Machine"
Goal: 4 goos OCD: Collect 49 or more goos
What we are going to do here is build two towers on the sides of the level,
connect them in the middle, then build a spire up to the bomb to wake it up.
STEP 1:
Build FOUR boxes on the ground to the left of the structure.
STEP 2:
Build ONE box on top of the third box from the left.
STEP 3:
Build a tower on the 2 left-most boxes by adding SIX boxes on top of each.
STEP 4:
The tower will be wobbly, add a triangle on top of the third box from the
left for support.
STEP 5:
Build an identical tower on the right side.
STEP 6:
Now join your two towers in the center.
STEP 7:
Build a spire in the middle up to the bomb to wake it.
STEP 8:
Grab the bomb and attach it to the left side of your structure so it hits the
flames.
STEP 9:
Once it catches fire, attach it to the head.
STEP 10:
Once the head has exploded, extend the white structure to the pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD
brainboy2 emailed me the following:
"You don't actually need to build two towers to get the bomb to wake up; all you
need to do is build a structure that will get close enough to it for a split
second to wake it up. So I just built one tall tower, and when it started to
sway I added a couple more goo balls to get it to fall towards the bomb, waking
it up. Then I finished the level just as you described."
I was able to get OCD using his strategy. There is some luck involved (it
took me two tries). Don't forget to grab the green goo that the bomb was
hanging on!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I. Incineration Destination "The Puzzling Adventure"
Goal: 12 goos OCD: Finish level in 34 or fewer moves
This level looks scary, but once you know what to do, it shouldn't be that
difficult.
STEP 1:
Build a bridge across the gap using ONLY red goos.
STEP 2:
Now cover the ENTIRE bridge with WHITE goos. (Once the red goos are burnt,
this will be how the pink goos make it across to the pipe.)
STEP 3:
Attach one sticky bomb to the right exclamation point and the other to the
left exclamation point. Make sure the legs are attached to RED goos.
STEP 4:
Use RED goos to extend bottom of bridge to flame. Once it ignites, QUICKLY
whistle on the white section of the bridge to draw as many loose goos there
as possible.
STEP 5:
Once the two barricades have been blasted away, use your remaining goos
to extend the structure to the pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD
Irzunn emailed me the following strategy:
Use both white and red goos in turns from the start. Build a red-white-red-
white 2-goo thick structure with red on the bottom with occasional red support
from the left cliff. You should end up with a very weak bridge by the end but
enough to be connected to the other side.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
J. Product Launcher "Happy New Year"
Goal: N/A OCD: Finish level in 12 or fewer moves
The final level of Chapter 3 is very easy.
STEP 1:
Remove the three green goos on the right to break the chains and release
the black goos.
STEP 2:
Once the black goos reach the top, use the red goos to build a tower up to
the flame.
...............................................................................
OCD
STEP 1:
Remove the top green goo on the left.
STEP 2:
Remove the green goo on the left of the middle chain. The weight of the three
balls should cause the bottom chain to snap.
STEP 3:
Use TEN goos to build a tower on the RIGHT side of the base up to the flame.
OR
It is possible to bounce a goo off the ground so that it hits the flame and
catches fire.
OR
bob emailed me the following OCD strategy:
"The most popular OCD solution involves throwing red balls. It sounds like you
can also build a tower of reds, with great difficulty, provided you detach no
more than one or perhaps two green balls (I have not managed this myself).
However, there is a fairly reliable 12 step solution.
- Detach two green balls, one each from the lower two blobs on the right (don't
touch the third/top blob). Drag these green balls up through the Z so they can
crawl out onto the red structure.
- Attach the two greens, roughly centered under the flame, in such a way that
you can then...
- Build a new segment, using two red balls, attached only to the green balls.
- Throw away roughly 20 red balls, just to make it practical to select the
green balls; then detach and discard the green balls, letting the new segment
fall.
- Load up the new segment with about 15 red balls (hopefully, it fell in such
a way that you can identify it and do this).
- Attach two balloons to the new segment, at the end that will cause it to best
encounter the flame.
Don't attach a balloon (not even one) to the new segment before removing the
greens, because it will rise too fast and burn without falling down. You need a
bunch of extra balls on it (and therefore a second balloon), so that some will
have a chance to catch fire and fall."

VII. Chapter 4 "Information Superhighway"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A. Hello, World
Goal: 4 goos OCD: Finish level in 9 seconds or less
Another tutorial level! This level will give you some practice on using
circle goos, which are found throughout Chapter 4.
STEP 1:
Grab one of the circle goos and stretch him out to the two o'clock position
and let him go. He will bounce off the right wall and onto the structure,
waking up the square goos.
STEP 2:
Use the square goos to extend the structure to the pipe.
STEP 3:
Go back and shoot the rest of the circle goos over.
...............................................................................
OCD
To get the OCD you have to finish the level in 9 seconds, so work fast!
STEP 1:
Shoot THREE circle goos over the gap.
STEP 2:
Quickly extend the structure to the pipe.
STEP 3:
Use the whistle on the pipe to make the goos move faster.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B. Bulletin Board System "System Packet Loss Mitigation Operation"
Goal: 4 goos OCD: Collect 13 or more goos
This is a tricky level, not only will the gears kill the goos on impact, but
they have their own "gravity" which will curve your shots.
STEP 1:
Launch a circle goo at four o'clock so it will land on the next structure.
STEP 2:
Use only ONE square goo to make a triangle on the right side of the structure
(if you want OCD, you can't use the second square goo).
STEP 3:
When the circle goo is on the tip of the triangle, launch it at one o'clock
up towards the next structure.
STEP 4:
Once your intrepid circle goo reaches the bottom right of the square, launch
him at four o'clock so he will curve around the gear and hit the final
structure.
STEP 5:
Use the three square goos to extend the structure to the pipe.
STEP 6:
Now go back and send over the rest of your circle goos.
...............................................................................
OCD
This is a difficult stage to OCD, you have to get ALL 12 circle goos to the
pipe and also carry the leftover square goo from the second structure.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C. Grape Vine Virus "The Benevolent Infection"
Goal: 4 goos OCD: Collect 13 or more goos
Like usual, if a sign tells you not to do something, do it anyway!
STEP 1:
Send EXACTLY TEN circle goos into the red water to "infect" them.
STEP 2:
Once they have been carried up to the second structure, shoot one of them onto
the third structure.
STEP 3:
Now send him over to the fourth structure. Be mindful of the gears.
STEP 4:
Now onto the fifth structure.
STEP 5:
Once on the fifth structure you will notice a vine of infected goos hanging
from the ceiling. Shoot at the BOTTOM of the vine to attach him.
STEP 6:
Now ferry the next infected goo to the FOURTH structure. Again you will aim
for the bottom, but be sure to wait till the vine is swinging TOWARDS you.
STEP 7:
Add the other 8 infected goos to the vine. It should now reach the pipe.
STEP 8:
Send the remaining green goos to the second structure, remember that you have
to collect ALL of them to get the OCD.
STEP 9:
Shoot the circle goos onto the vine and they will go into the pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD
If you follow the above strategy without making any mistakes, you will get OCD!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D. Graphic Processing Unit "Unauthorized Upgrade Mod"
Goal: 6 goos OCD: Collect 12 or more goos
STEP 1:
First we need to wake the sleeping infected goos on the top structure. You
need to launch a green goo from the TOP RIGHT corner of the structure at
three o'clock. It should slingshot around the planet and land on the top
structure.
NOTE: If any of the red goos end up missing, don't sweat it. You have extras,
so just try again!
STEP 2:
Now we need to create a vine above the pipe. Launch a red goo from the TOP
RIGHT corner at 3 o'clock. It should end up latching onto the red goo
floating above the pipe.
STEP 3:
Now launch a red goo from the top right corner at ONE o'clock. It should
latch onto the bottom of the chain.
STEP 4:
Now launch a red goo from the top right corner at FIVE o'clock.
STEP 5:
Now launch one final red goo from the top right corner at five o'clock. The
vine should now reach the pipe. If not, keep launching red goos, they are
expendable.
STEP 6:
Start with the green goos on the BOTTOM structure. Launch them at a three
o'clock angle and they should end up on the vine.
STEP 7:
In order to collect that green goo on the TOP structure, launch him from the
top right corner at TWO o'clock.
...............................................................................
OCD
If you follow the above strategy without losing any green goos, you will get
the OCD.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E. Road Blocks "Tech Supports"
Goal: 4 goos OCD: Finish in 22 or less moves
Another level that looks a lot scarier than it is. The gears on the walls will
not only pop your structure, but will also destroy the blocks!
STEP 1:
Carefully take FIVE square road blocks from the water and add them to the stack
of three at the bottom of the level.
STEP 2:
Grab one of the rectangles from the water(make sure to grab it in the MIDDLE)
and lay it down flat on top of the tower.
STEP 3:
Now it's time to extend your structure. Use FOUR goos to add two squares to
the right side of the structure.
STEP 4:
Add a third square to the structure and QUICKLY add a triangle. If you did it
right, the triangle will now be resting on the road block tower. The rest is
easy.
STEP 5:
Add a triangle on top of the current one to finish the box.
STEP 6:
Add three more blocks to the right.
STEP 7:
Stretch a triangle to the pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD
If you followed the above to the letter, it takes only 21 moves, 1 under the
OCD!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F. Graceful Failure "Unblocked"
Goal: 4 goos OCD: Finish the level in 36 seconds or less
The object here is to systematically remove blocks so the structure ends up
in the hole. One thing to keep in mind is the you CAN use blocks to nudge
the structure.
STEP 1:
We are going to start by removing some of the rectangle blocks first. Leave
the rectangle the structure is on alone and move down to the next rectangle.
Yank it to the right (like removing the tablecloth from under dishes!).
STEP 2:
Move down to the next rectangle and yank it LEFT.
STEP 3:
Move down to the next rectangle and yank it RIGHT.
STEP 4:
Move down to the next rectangle and yank it LEFT.
STEP 5:
Move down to the next rectangle and yank it RIGHT.
STEP 6:
If you did it right, there should be two stacks of square blocks, with the
structure's rectangle resting on top of the left stack. Carefully remove the
three squares on the right (try not to knock over that rectangle).
STEP 7:
CAREFULLY slide the rectangle the structure is on to the right so that it
falls down into the middle, then throw it away.
STEP 8:
Remove all the squares of the left tower.
STEP 9:
CAREFULLY lift up the middle square so that the structure will fall down
between the two other squares and then throw it away.
STEP 10:
Slide the left and right rectangles over just enough for the structure to
fall into the pit (you may have to give it a push with a block).
STEP 11:
Extend the structure to the pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD
Irzunn emailed me the following OCD strategy:
You have to take the first horizontal long blocks from the bottom. Take the
right one then the left (not sure if it'll work the other way) so that the goos
fall to the hole. You'll need a careful timing and a bit of luck here.
(This does work, but it may take quite a few tries -Brian)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G. Alice and Bob and the Third Party "Somebody Is Listening"
Goal: 30 goos OCD: Collect 42 or more goos
You could probably guess that you are going to use blocks to channel the
green goos, but you need to prepare the way first.
If you want OCD, you need ALL of your blocks. They originally bounce up and
down in the water, but if you bump into one, they may start crashing into the
gears on the side, so be careful.
STEP 1:
First grab the rectangle that is lying on the top left stack of blocks and
use it to cover the gears on the RIGHT.
STEP 2:
Remove the square block off the bottom right stack and place it on the TOP
right stack.
STEP 3:
Pick up the rectangle you just uncovered and place it over the LEFT gears.
STEP 4:
Take two squares from the water and add them to the top of the bottom right
stack.
STEP 5:
Now take two more squares from the water and add the on top of the top right
stack.
STEP 6:
Grab the last two squares from the water and add them to the topmost stack.
STEP 7:
Take BOTH squares from the bottom left stack and add them to the topmost stack,
the flow should now be cut off and the green goos should start dropping down
towards the vine.
STEP 8:
To extend the vine to the pipe, shoot some red goos straight down, they
will jump back out of the water and latch on to the vine.
...............................................................................
OCD
You need to collect all 42 goos to make OCD. Sometimes they get stuck on the
way down, just give them a nudge with a block.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
H. The Server Farm "CPU Cycles At Low Low Prices"
Goal: 4 goos OCD: Collect 24 or more goos
I tried to find a step by step solution for this stage but there is just
too much improvisation involved.
The method I find easiest is to build two towers, one on each side of the
board, then extend the right one to the pipe. Go slowly and if your towers
get too wobbly, be sure to add supports to the side. Make sure to build
evenly, keeping the board balanced is key.
...............................................................................
OCD
Ratt6166 sent me an email with the following strategy:
Build squares straight up as fast as possible and if you timed it right,
when the structure tips over, it will get sucked to the pipe.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I. MOM's Computer "Welcome Home"
Goal: N/A OCD: Finish in 15 or fewer moves
In this stage you finally meet MOM! You have to build a tower out of
application and game windows.
STEP 1:
Click on Applications and place the box on the open window.
STEP 2:
Stack FOURTEEN more applications on top. (If at any point your tower falls,
go ahead and click on Retry so you can get OCD on your first completion and
avoid the bug headaches!)
STEP 3:
Click on the icon that says 'shortcut to MOM' (If it tells you to come
closer, you need to make your tower higher).
STEP 4:
Click on the text box to begin your conversation with MOM. The first two
choices are plot filler, to finish the stage you need to go through all of
the third choices.
...............................................................................
OCD
WARNING: There is a glitch in the game! Once you accept the Terms and
Conditions you CANNOT beat MOM's Computer again. Make absolutely sure that
you have gotten OCD before moving on, otherwise you will have to start a new
game to earn it!
When you retry the level, make sure you use exactly 15 applications (clicking
on MOM does NOT count as a move). When you get to MOM, you'll notice the
third option isn't there. To make it reappear, select the second option and
when prompted, delete your cookies. Once you've deleted your cookies, you
will be sent back to the desktop. Simply click on MOM again and select the
third option. When you finish the level, your new score should be saved.
xeltrio sent me an email saying it is possible to reach MOM using only EIGHT
Games. You have to stack them vertically and make sure they are 100% centered.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
J. My Virtual World Of Goo Corporation "beta!"
Before you can move onto to the last level of Chapter 4, you must go to Goo
Corp and accept the Terms and Conditions.
STEP 1:
Click on the computer terminal, there should be a letter showing in the
display.
STEP 2:
Click on Accept.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
K. Deliverance "Recycle Bin And Back Again"
Goal: N/A OCD: Finish in 7 or fewer moves
The goal here is to get the undelete pill to the bottom of the pit.
STEP 1:
Shoot goos so they go through the flame and explode the blocks and floor.
STEP 2:
Repeat until the undelete pill reaches the bottom and gets stuck in the net.
STEP 3:
Shoot a goo at the vine.
STEP 4:
Now the hard part. Shoot another goo at the vine while it is moving AWAY from
you. Then shoot the first goo so he travels through the flame AND hits the
vine. Use the whistle to get him to the top right side of the net.
If you hit the vine while lit, then net will go up in flames and the pill
will drop into the "stomach".
...............................................................................
Zelloss sent me an alternate strategy:
"For the final step, you can also set the rope itself on fire, rather than
shooting a goo into it. To do this, 'shoot' the goos at the string from the
left side towards the middle "section" of the hanging part to send it swinging.
You can do it in about 4-5 goos with a bit of luck and timing - you want to
'shoot' at the hanging part when it's on the left side, but starting to move
back to the right, to get the most momentum built up."
...............................................................................
OCD Strategy
This OCD requires more luck than anything else ...
STEP 1:
Launch THREE goos from the left structure so they pass through the flame and
destroy blocks on the RIGHT side.
STEP 2:
Launch the last goo from the left so that it will land on the floor and
explode, causing everything to drop. Now if you are lucky, this will cause a
chain reaction such that the goos will catch fire and destroy the barriers on
their own.
If the chain reaction does NOT happen, hit Retry and start over.
STEP 3:
Use no more than THREE goos to light the vine.
*******************************************************************************
VIII. Epilogue "End Of The World"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A. Infesty the Worm "Infesty Grows Up"
Goal: 4 OCD: Collect 16 or more goo balls
The goal here is to use the balloons to move your structure like a slinky
while slowly increasing the length.
STEP 1:
Attach all four balloons to bottom left corner of structure.
STEP 2:
Build a box on top.
STEP 3:
Detach all balloons.
STEP 4:
Add five balloons to bottom left corner of structure.
STEP 5:
Attach last balloon to top right corner.
STEP 6:
Shift two balloons from top left to top right corner.
STEP 7:
Build two boxes and a triangle on top of structure.
STEP 8:
Detach one balloon off of the right side of structure and let it float down to
next platform.
STEP 9:
Build box on LEFT side of structure.
STEP 10:
Attach all balloons to left side of structure, four on each corner.
STEP 11:
Build two boxes on top.
STEP 12:
Shift balloons to top.
STEP 13:
Build a triangle on top.
STEP 14:
Detach two balloons from right side and attach to middle of structure,
it should float down towards the pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD
Irzunn and Saintly each sent me an email with this OCD strategy:
In order to get OCD you really can't spare any goos for building. First
attach all four balloons to the left of the structure. Once it is standing
straight up, quickly remove the balloons and reattach them to the bottom.
The idea here is to make your structure intentionally fall off while it's
vertical. Whistle at the top so your goos stay here while it is falling.
Eventually you will hear the sounds of goos dying, we WANT this. The structure
will now be light enough to fly. Now it is a simple (and tedious) matter of
detaching and reattaching balloons to make your structure float over to the
sleeping goos and then the pipe.
OR
bob emailed me the following OCD strategy:
"The only OCD solution I have seen for this so far involves destroying part of
the original structure, so that you have enough balloons to transport it.
However, it is possible to get exactly 16 balls (the OCD requirement) without
doing so.
- Start by doing two flips of the structure. In each case, extend the structure
by one ball on the 'landing' end. Go for maximum extension, i.e. make it come
to a point, rather than extending one of the straight sides. This uses up the
only two balls you have to spare.
- Note that on the second flip, you will only manage to wake up one of the two
balloons, but that's all you need for the moment.
- Use all available balloons for the third flip. It's not quite long enough to
reach the fourth island, but you can eventually get there. Once it is all the
way up, move two balloons down to the bottom point. You need to drag or bounce
the bottom point over to the right side of the island. This is fairly easy to
do, with the other end either up in the wind, or sagging down below island
level, and then repeatedly attaching one of the two lower balloons to help it
bounce over. Stop just short of falling off, by about the diameter of one ball
or slightly less.
- Now comes the hard and tedious part. You need to take advantage of the
swaying of the island support (on the third island) to extend your reach to the
fourth island. There are several possible approaches here. You can get the
structure up into the wind, or let it sag down below island level - both tend
to get it to lean right, though I seem to lose most of that lean by the time I
can get the balloons rearranged to get the structure level again. I think the
better way is to distribute the balloons so the structure is horizontal and as
straight as possible, and then get it to undulate - either by whistling balls
side to side, or slightly rearranging balloons.
- This is very delicate, and as I said, I haven't worked out a reliable method
(nor do I intend to), but it can be done. As soon as you get the right end to
barely land on the fourth island, move balloons over to the left end to do the
final flip (don't let it sag too much, or it might fall off an edge).
- The good news: if you blow it, and one end falls off the end of an island,
clicking a time bug usually seems to restore you to a state with the third
island bent well over to the right, making for an easy landing (I consider
this marginal cheating, and with patience and time, you can succeed without
it).
- Once it goes over, you'll get the final balloons and be able to fly."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B. Weather Vane "Cloudy With A Chance Of Doom"
Goal: 6 OCD: Collect 42 or more goo balls
This is like a harder version of Blustery Day! You are really going to be
burning through time bugs completing this one!
STEP 1:
Build a layer of three boxes across top of structure.
STEP 2:
Build two more layers on top of the structure.
STEP 3:
Build two more layers.
STEP 4:
Add on two more layers.
STEP 5:
Build a box in the CENTER of the top and build a triangle on top of that to
wake up the goos on the highest cloud.
STEP 6:
Build a box on the SIDE of the top layer on the left for counter-weight.
STEP 7:
Build a box on TOP of the right most box.
STEP 8:
Build a second box on the left counterweight.
STEP 9:
Build a box on the right SIDE of the top, you should wake up a balloon.
STEP 10:
Attach the balloon to the top of the triangle.
STEP 11:
Build another box to the right, attach balloon to top.
STEP 12:
Build another box to the right and attach another balloon to it.
STEP 13:
Build another box, add another balloon.
STEP 14:
You should now have two free balloons left, attach both of them to the top of
the triangle.
STEP 15:
Build another box to the right, add a balloon from the triangle here.
STEP 16:
Add another box, then shift the left-most SINGLE balloon here.
STEP 17:
Add another box, move a balloon from the triangle to here.
STEP 18:
Add another box, shift the left-most single balloon to here.
STEP 19:
Add a box BENEATH the right most box, we are now going to build down towards
the pipe.
STEP 20:
Add another box, move that last balloon on the triangle to the TOP of the arm.
STEP 21:
Build a box, then a triangle to the pipe.
...............................................................................
OCD Strategy
As long as you are stretching your goos as far as you can and building as
efficiently as possible, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting OCD here.
One thing to look out for is when you are waking up sleeping goos, some of them
will try to jump on your structure ... and miss! Pay attention and be prepared
to catch any goos that decide to go kamikaze.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C. Horizontal Transportation Innovation Committee "Blue Sky Smackdown"
Goal: 12 OCD: Collect 40 or more goo balls
The final challenge isn't that hard if you know what to do. The secret here
is to build UP, using the balloon as support.
STEP 1:
Build a layer of two boxes across top of structure.
STEP 2:
Attach balloon to CENTER goo on top.
STEP 3:
Build FOUR more layers, attaching balloon to top center after each one.
STEP 4:
Build a triangle off the left SIDE for counter-weight.
STEP 5:
Add another layer and move the balloon up.
STEP 6:
Now whistle at the BOTTOM of your structure to move the goos down there, this
will cut down on wobble.
STEP 7:
Add two boxes on top of the RIGHT box, then attach balloon to top left corner.
STEP 8:
QUICKLY add two more boxes to the top (don't bother moving the balloon), the
tower will tip over and "should" land on the opposite hill.
STEP 9:
Now all you have to do is extend the structure to the pipe!
...............................................................................
OCD Strategy
Saintly emailed me an alternate strategy:
Start out by manually ferrying some black goos over to the ledge with the
sleeping goos. Next attach the balloon to the structure and extend it so it
tips over. If you are (very) lucky, you'll end up with a barbell shaped
structure of two goos. Float this over to the pipe. Stretch the balloon
towards the sleeping goos to wake them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D. Observatory Observation Station "This Is It!"
Goal: N/A OCD: This one is mine. - the Sign Painter
You made it to the final level! This is the easiest level in the entire
game!
STEP 1:
All you have to do is attach ALL of the fish to the top of the telescope (they
act just like balloons).
STEP 2:
Once the telescope starts to rise, just sit back and watch your very much
deserved ending!
...............................................................................
OCD Strategy
I don't think there is a way to get an OCD here ...

IX. World Of Goo Corporation
This is a sandbox mode where the goal is to build a tower as high as you can.
Extra goo balls that you collect are sent here. They will all be black, but
can be detached and reattached like green goos. The Goo Corp will change as
you progress through the main game.
You can collect a maximum of 300 goo balls. Supposedly there is something
at the top if you can build a high enough tower. My best height is 27.4 m.
If you have an internet connection active, you may see clouds floating around,
these represent the towers of players across the world. The clouds will have
that player's country's flag, tell how high the tower is and how many goo balls
they are using. (This is what the sign means about seeing towers in the
distance, you can't actually see the other players' towers.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A. Campus 2.0
This is unlocked after completing Hang Low in Chapter 1. There is a computer
terminal to the left of your structure, but it has no messages yet.
You may be asking if this is 2.0, what happened to 1.0? Supposedly the PC demo
just contained Goo Corp and this is considered 1.0.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B. My Virtual World Of Goo Corporation "beta!"
After completing Chapter 3, Goo Corp will become digital. The graphics and
music will change. There is a new sign from the Sign Painter.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C. Tower of Goo Memorial Park and Recreation Center "Now 20% more
"infinite in all directions"
After completing Chapter 4, Goo Corp becomes a park. The graphics and music
have changed yet again. The computer terminal is now gone and the sign has
been changed by the Sign Painter again.
