FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS (Global) Android Phone for Beginners F2P Author's Notes: ` This was at first intended for beginners, now it is an info dump but also aiming for beginners! ` Terms specific to the game are capitalized. ________ CONTENTS ________ -Note on JP vs. Global- -To play this game- -Re-rolling?- -Home Screen- GIL TIP -Game Controls and Battle- TARGET STATISTICS MODIFIERS CARBUNCLE AND REFLECT -Options- -Status Ailments- -Units- RECOMMENDED UNITS -About Experience- -Libra- -Lapis- -Friends- -Espers- -Vortex- -Dungeons and Explorations- -Silver Chests- -Towns and Quests- -Trophies- -Materials- -Trust Master Rewards- -Limit Burst- -Colosseum- -Arena- -What to focus on!- -What I do daily- -Resources- ________ -Note on JP vs. Global- FFBE was first released in Japan on October 22, 2016. FFBE was released world wide on June 29, 2016. Japan's FFBE gives a peek at what's going to be added to the game. -To play this game- 1. Must have an internet connection. 2. The game is saved on your phone so make sure to connect it to a Facebook account to permanently save it. -Re-rolling?- The point of re-rolling is to get the best characters (Luneth, Gilgamesh, Noctis, ...) because the best characters in the game have an extremely low rate of being summoned. Two Facebook accounts are needed: one that is linked to a FFBE account and another that is not. Start the game, go through the Tutorial, and use the free Lapis and Premium Summon Tickets to Summon Units. Link the account to a free Facebook account when satisfied. Sign in to the Facebook account that is already linked to an FFBE account through Options then Logout and repeat the process when not satisfied. -Home Screen- At the top of the home screen shows your: Gil, username, Lapis, Rank, and EXP. Gil is the game currency. Mostly needed for Enhancement costs. GIL TIP: If you are low in Gil, you can Enhance 1 Star Standard Summons (check if the Unit has a max level of 15) with a Metal Minituar (to automatically max the level to 15) and sell that Unit to gain 4,400 Gil. A maxed level 1* Unit gives 4,400 Gil, 2* gives 15,000 Gil, and 3* gives 32,000 Gil. ULTIMATE GIL TIP: Sell off event currency for gil! Lapis is the currency you can buy with real-life money. NRG (Energy) is used to enter Dungeons and Explorations. 1 NRG replenishes every 5 minutes. If awarded more NRG than maximum capacity, you will simply have more NRG than maximum capacity and therefore cannot replenish more until you have less NRG than maximum capacity. When you start off, no NRG is expended until you pass Rank 8. Rank is the level of you! When you reach the next Rank, your NRG (and Arena/Colosseum orbs) will be refilled to maximum so try to use it all before you Rank Up. EXP is your Rank experience. With every new increase in Rank, you increase your maximum NRG by 1. (By Rank 80, your maximum NRG is 90.) When you are rewarded EXP through Daily Quests, it goes to EXP. At the bottom of the home screen shows: Home, Units, Items, Shop, Summon, Friends. Home icon - click on this icon to return to Home screen. Units - View/Sell, Enhance, Awaken Units. Items - your inventory. Shop - mainly a Lapis shop. Add Slots, Buy Bundles, and other things. Summon - Summons of Units are conducted here. Friends - add/find/make Friends and accept Friend Points. To check information on any current events happening in FFBE go to Home and click on the little bulletin board icon next to the Mail icon. -Game Controls and Battle- Read the in-game Tutorial to figure out how to play the game, kupo!~ Battle basics: ` Click on the Unit's controller to attack. ` Swipe down for Defend mode. ` Swipe left for Items. ` Swipe right for Abilities and Magicks. ` Swipe up for Attack mode. Click on the foe to have all attacks target it (even when it has no more HP). Click on the foe twice if you want your Units to attack one first before the others. TARGET. If you press and hold on a sprite, you can see the current modifiers on it (this is applicable to either friend and foe). There is also the "Target" button, so you are also allowed to Target one of your Party members. Don't Target a Party member while one of your Units is in the middle of a Dual Attack, one of the attacks might land on the Targetted member! When Abilities are referred to as AoE or ST, AoE (area of effect) means an attack that affects all foes and ST (single target) means an attack that affects only one foe. CHAINING. Each Unit has a different amount of Hits it can make in different beats of time at different positions on the battle field when it attacks. When Hits are successively completed, a Chain is made and attacks become stronger. Chaining Hits and finishing with a strong move will make the strong moves stronger, especially ST moves. Magicks can also be Chained. There are 4 buttons at the bottom of the battle screen: AUTO, REPEAT, RESET, and MENU. Click on Auto to trigger all Party members to attack or activate whatever commands are inputted at the time. Keeping Auto on willatomatically make all Party members attack until it is turned off. Repeat mimics the moves used in the turn before it. However, the order and timing is not saved so the order is randomized. A new battle will not have the commands saved. However, in Japan the Repeat button will save the most recent commands throughout the run, so maybe that will come to Global one day. Reset will forget all moves that were used and all Units will automatically go back to Attack mode. Menu will open the Menu where you can check Party members' statistics. THROW. If you want to Throw Items, you must either use Items that can be thrown by any Unit (such as Bomb Fragment or Void Vessel) or have a member in the Party with the Throw Ability. STATISTICS MODIFIERS. When casting buffs (positive stats modifiers) and debuffs (negative or neutralizing stats modifiers), they are immediately in effect after their corresponding text indication is prompted at the top of the screen. When multiple buffs of the same variety are cast, the highest buff overrides the lower buffs. That means if Cheer (an Ability that gives +40% to ATK/DEF for 3 turns to all Party members) and Bravery (a Magic Ability that gives +20% ATK for 3 turns to one Party member) is used, only +40% ATK and +40% DEF is applied. If the foe casts a debuff, the percentage is taken away from your allies's current states. That means if you do not cast any buffs and then the enemy casts Deprotect (-20% DEF for 3 turns to one Party member), that Party member will have -20% DEF. If you had cast Cheer and then the enemy casts Deprotect, the target ally would have +40% and -20%, which means a total of +20% DEF. Casting Protect (+20% DEF for 3 turns to one Party member) to the aforementioned affected member would not add 20% DEF since Cheer is still in effect (which is a larger buff at 40%) and therefore Protect would simply be neutralized. This also applies to the enemy. Full Break or equivalent is a useful Ability that gives -30% ATK/MAG/DEF/SPR for 3 turns to an enemy (unless the enemy is immune to certain Breaks). Dispel or equivalent will neutralize all buffs/debuffs. Make sure to rebuff friend or foe after it is cast. CARBUNCLE AND REFLECT. The Esper Carbuncle has a unique Evocation that casts Reflect on all Party members. It is a wonderfully effective trick in multiplying a Black Magic by 6 fold (that is if you take a Friend Unit with you into battle to make your Party 6) against one enemy. Evoke Carbuncle, Target a Party member, and then cast an AoE Black Magic move from your best mage to trigger this trick. Carbuncle's Reflect is not in effect until after its animation: watch for the icon indicator to appear on your Party members instead of the text indication to make sure Reflect is properly cast on all members. Reflect can only reflect one Magic spell (Black or White), so do not Dualcast Black Magic onto yourself. Reflect will be consumed after reflecting a Magic spell, otherwise Reflect will stay for 3 turns. MAGIC POINTS. For long battles or Explorations, replenishing Magic Points might be a concern. Items such as Ether, Turbo Ether, and Elixir can be used to replenish Magic Points. The Ability Osmose takes 30% of a foe's MP and gives some MP to the user. Osmose can be learned by two Espers, Ramuh and Diabolos, as well as innately by certain Units. Lance takes 10% of a foe's MP and gives some MP to the user. Lance can be learned by the Esper Odin as well as innately by certain Units. The Rare Summon Unit Bartz has a unique Ability, Live Giver, that refills one ally's HP and MP to maximum at the expense of Bartz's life (so bringing along another Unit with Revive or equivalent is a must). -Options- Home > Menu > Options From here you can turn off individual "Battle Effect Options" for smoother gameplay. To automatically set which parties will be selected for Arena and Colosseum and which party will be selected as the Leader for your friends to use, go to Home > Menu > Options > "Select Party". Whoever you select as your Leader is who everyone else can take along. (Home > Units > click on the unit in your group > "Set as Leader" to set that unit as leader.) -Status Ailments- If you are having trouble with Bosses, Paralyze and Poison that unsuspecting fool. Paralyze will completely stop it for 3 turns. In the Standard Summons, Rizer can learn Blade Bash, which gives a chance of Paralyzing the target. Poison damages your foe for 3 turns at 10% of its max HP every turn. The Standard Summons Biggs's Bio Blaster (learned at 3* level 28) gives a 50% chance of inflicting Poison to all enemies. Beginning Bosses are susceptible to this combination (even the White Dragon in the Farplane!). Early on, Stone is annoying so make sure to stock up on some Gold Needles to cure petrification. If Paralysis is giving you problems, Unicorn Horns will get rid of that. And Blind can make you miss your attacks, even Limit Bursts are susceptible to this ailment. STATUS AILMENTS. Most status ailments affect foes for 3 turns. This may not apply to your Units. ` Poison [icon of green bubbles]; damages the equivalent of 10% max HP to the afflicted every turn, persists after battle for your party. ` Blind [icon of dude with shades on]; causes hit or miss situations (does not affect casting Magic Abilities), persists after battle for your party. ` Sleep [icon of 3 z's]; the afflicted will be unable to act unless is hit with an Attack, wears off randomly or after battle on your Units. ` Silence [icon of ... in a speech buble]; unable to cast Magic, persists after battle for your party. ` Paralysis [icon of 2 orange squiggles]; unable to act for 3 turns, wears off after battle for your party. ` Confuse [icon of 2 yellow stars circling around each other]; the afflicted will randomly attack foe or ally, wears off randomly or after battle for your party. ` Disease [icon of a prickly blue ball]; lowers base stats by 10%, persists after battle for your party. ` Stone [icon of a rock]; ally will not be able to act and will not suffer any more damage, persists after battle for your party. -Units- ATK means "attack" and is calculated into the Unit's physical damage. MAG, "magic," is for magical damage (and also factors into healing abilities a bit). DEF, "defense," is for physical defense. SPR, "spirit" ("mind" in Japan), is for magical defense as well as increasing your healing abilities. SUMMON. The act of getting more Units is called a Summon and they are permanently added to your inventory. AWAKEN. Your Units can be Awakened after a certain level. This changes their sprite animation, makes them stronger, and allows them to learn new skills. Check their maximum level by going to Home > Units > View Units > click on the Unit you want to see. When you hit their maximum level you can Awaken them to the next Star. They will start off at level 1 again and weak, just like the Final Fantasy games. Particular Materials are needed to Awaken Units. The most prominent Materials to keep an eye on are Sacred Crystals, Holy Crystals, and 6* Awakening Materials (most 6* Materials are obtainable through events). STAR. A 3* (3 Star) Unit has a maximum level of 40, a 4* is 60, a 5* is 80, and a 6* is 100. RECOMMENDED UNITS. If you don't have 4* and above Units, below is a list of incredibly useful Units. If you get any of them, max them out immediately! ` Rain. (Your easy Full Break Unit.) Undermine Ability is a Full Break, Leadership Ability gives all allies +40% ATK/DEF/MAG/SPR for 3 turns. ` Exdeath. (Powerful Black mage!) Base 3*, max 6* Variety of elemental Magicks, innate Dual Black Magic skill and Osmose. ` Cloud of Darkness (CoD). (Powerful attacker!) Base 3*, max 6* Especially powerful against Humans, Omniveil Ability gives +30% resistance to elemental damage for 3 turns to all allies, Comeback Ability cures all allies of all status ailments except Stone. ` Cecil. (Beastly defender!) Base 3*, max 6* Innate Cover Ability, learns Curaja, unique Limit Burst buffs ATK/DEF/SPR of all allies. ` Firion. Base 3*, max 6* Incredible amount of stats enhancing passives and damage enhancing killer passives, can equip almost anything! ` Bartz. (The amazing MP battery!) Base 3*, max 6* Live Giver Ability recovers all of one ally's HP/MP (at the cost of own life). ` Lenna. (Good healer if you don't have Refia.) Base 3*, max 5* Learns Curaja, Esuna, Dispel, and Cheer (+40% ATK/DEF buff to all allies for 3 turns). Below is a list of other useful Units. ` Charlotte. (A pretty ok tank.) Base 3*, max 5* Greater chance at Cover than Cecil, can cure all status ailments except Stone to all allies with her special shield, learns Shellga. ` Krille: base 3*, max 5*. Innate Black Magic Dualcast, can learn Curaja. ` Arc: base 3*, max 5*. Innate Black Magic Dualcast, learns most elemental Magicks. ` Tellah: base 3*, max 5*. Learns most elemental Magicks, learns Raise. ` Shantotto: base 3*, max 4*. Learns all elemental Magicks. ` Xiao: base 3*, max 6*. High Attack stats without both weapon and shield equipped (but get her to max level). Additionally, FFBE events have a trend of encouraging players to Summon new Units by adding a Bonus towards the total earned event currency received at the end of an event run if they are in the Party. Spending Tickets to Summon a couple or few new Units to bring along is what I do. -About Experience- Your Units will gain their own exp after finishing a Dungeon/Exploration and you will separately gain Rank experience at the same time. All Units in the party (excluding Friend Unit) will take a share in the experience equally. Maxed out Units will still share in the experience, though they cannot receive it. The less Units in your party, the more experience each member gets. Story Units and Brave Exvius Units require less EXP and Materials to level up and Awaken (about half as much as non Brave Exvius Units). METAL CACTUARS. There are obtainable Units called Metal Minituar (5000 EXP), Metal Cactuar (10,000 EXP), and Metal Gigantuar (30,000 EXP). In Japan, I believe there is another tier of Cactuars that give 100,000 EXP. They are solely used for Enhancing into Units, the EXP will be transferred by doing so. This is done through Units > Enhance Units. Currently, THE best way to max a Unit's level is by combining it with Metal Gigantuar Units. The Enhancement cost of any Metal Cactuar is solely dependent on the level of the Unit, disregarding rarity of both the Metal Cactuar and the selected Unit. The higher the level of the Unit, the higher the Gil price for each Cactuar. (A single Metal Cactuar costs 120 Gil to enhance when the Unit is at level 1, no matter what Star rarity it is. If the Unit is level 25, it costs more. If the Unit is level 99, it costs an exhorbitant amount of Gil.) Therefore, The best way to level a Unit is at the Unit's lowest possible level with the maximum amount (5) of the highest rarity of cactuars, since reaching higher levels will increase the Gil needed. This also applies when enhancing Units with Units (though, that's a waste of Gil). It takes over 300,000 Gil to Enhance over 100 Metal Gigantuars into a Unit to get to level 100 (6 Star rarity). (From level 1-60, the equivalent of about 18 Metal Gigantuars are needed. From level 1-80, the equivalent of about 35 Metal Gigantuars are needed. For level 1-100, I'm guessing around 67-70 Metal Gigantuars are needed.) -Libra- Using Libra or equivalent on a foe will show its weaknesses/strengths, immunities, and HP. Using Libra will add the monster to the Bestiary. Useless Monster info is located in Home > Menu > Guides > Monsters. If you missed out on using Libra in the beginning Dungeons and Explorations, you can do it on the Colosseum monsters. The first Esper you get can learn the skill Analyze, Certain Standard Summon Units can learn it, and you can eventually obtain a Libra Recipe. -Lapis- As stated before, Lapis is the currency you can buy with real money. However, it is easily obtained throughout the game, through events, and through other situations! You get by completing Dungeons/Explorations, completing Achievment Rewards in Dungeons/Explorations, completing an area Stage, when you Rank Up, daily Quests. Events might give Lapis, sometimes the game moderators give out free Lapis (for reasons), and extra Community Events give out Lapis. FFBE is a generous f2p game. Players who buy an outstanding amount of Lapis in order to pull the best Units are lovingly referred to as "whales." F2P STRATEGY. F2p or free to play means you don't spend any real life money on a game. If you're a f2p player don't spend your Lapis! Lapis is for the daily 250 Lapis Featured Summon, buying Special Bundles that involves a Premium Summon Ticket (if it is a good price), and adding Slots to Friends, Material, Equipment Slots. (Though I sometimes splurge and use Lapis to replenish NRG, come back from a Game Over, or buy event Bundles.) If you play long enough, daily Summoning is enough to pull different Units and sometimes even summon a rainbow Crystal. The one daily pull is also effective for the chance of getting the new Units at the time, as adding more and more Units to the roster only makes any specific Unit just as hard to pull as a rarer one. Also, using 5000 Lapis for 11 Summons all at once is just too much Lapis to blow on any banner when you can get almost double the Units for the same price through daily Summons. Save all Tickets. My Tickets are being saved for absolutely must-have anticipated Units (like Rikku, Tidus, Orlandu). Or Summon a lot only if the banner has many good Units (like the past Final Fantasy Tactics banner) as there's a high chance of obtaining good Units if most of them are Units that are good. Author's Note: Wait until the last day of a Featured Summon banner's rate up to Summon. I believe rare Crystals (*cough* rainbow *cough*) have a higher chance of dropping on the last day. (On December 8 of 2016, I used 20 Tickets to pull for Gilgamesh, 5 of the pulls were yellow Crystals [one was my first Warrior of Light], but no Gilgamesh. On December 9, I used 4 Tickets and got Gilgamesh on the 4th Ticket. You may not get the top Unit of the banner and I may have been lucky, but this was the only time I ever got a top tier attacker! If you're wondering how and when to Summon Units, The_Real_Gataru's guide on Reddit really helped me out: https://www.reddit.com/r/FFBraveExvius/comments/5g ydr6/unit_pulling_philosophyguide/ -Friends- A fun thing in this game is that you can add another player's Unit to your Party during a run and have complete control over it! Friends are obtainable through requests to the players: Home > Friends > Add Friends. You cna also search for an existing player if you have the player's Player ID number. You can also request friendship by finishing a Dungeon/Exploration with a stranger and sending a request at the end. If you guys become Friends, you can keep using their Lead Unit. If you don't see a certain Friend Unit in your list of available Friend Units to use, you can restart/refresh the game (or it's because you already used it and must now wait a while before being able to use it again). Departing with a Friend Unit will shuffle the list of available Friends. Departing without a Friend Unit will eventually shuffle the current list of Friends. Using a Friended unit will give you 10 Friend Points while using an unfriended Unit will give you 5 Friend Points. The other player also receives Friend Points. You can check how many times someone has used your Leader by going to Summons > Standard Summons and calculating how many points you have gained since the last time you looked. A Friended Unit means you can control that Unit and use its Limit Burst and Esper. An unFriended Unit will allow you to use that Unit but not its Limit Burst or Esper. You can also send Items to each other. To check what you can receive from Friends go to Home > Friends > Send Gifts and click on the icon your Unit is thinking about (from here you can also change your personalized greeting that others can see). Don't forget to take the time to send gifts every day! Expanding your Friend Slots means having a larger list of Friends. Extra help, Friend Points, AND extra items?!: definitely take advantage of this system! (o'3'o)/\(o'3'o) In Japan, depending on how many times Friends use your Leader, you can gain buffs to stats, experience gains, and other things. Maybe the "Times Helped" counter (Home > Friends > Gifts) is an indicator of this coming to our future? -Espers- Secret Espers can be obtained through unordinary means! After getting an esper, you can view it by going to Home and flicking through the Arena/World/Craft/Esper carousel until you see Espers. From there you can Enhance or Train a selected Esper. ENHANCE. In Enhance you can use Magicite Shards, Magicites, and Megacites to level up Espers. Colored ones give 50% more experience to specific Espers. The game tells you who gets more exp by showing "EXP x1.5" above the Magicite icon for whichever Esper you are trying to enhance at the time. (Blue for Siren, red for Ifrit, orange for Golem, violet for Shiva, yellow for Ramuh, black for Diabolos, white for Carbuncle. Green is for any Esper until the new JP one is added.) I suggest saving the different colored magicites for the corresponding Espers. TRAIN. In Train you can choose which active/passive skills Espers will learn. Leveling up an Esper to their max levels will not give enough SP (Esper Skill Points) to complete the board so focus on obtaining Skills rather than statistic enhancing blocks as Skills will be more useful than adding a tiny bit of stats. Equip an Esper by going to the Unit (Home > Units) and click on the box underneath any Unit. Whoever is connected to that Esper gains 1% of the Esper's stats, can use the Esper's Abilities learned through Train, and can evoke it's special move once the Esper Gauge is filled. If you're wondering which Esper to equip to which Unit, here's a summarization: Siren - Not outstanding in stats or skills. Can learn Dispel, Analyze, Cleanse. Ifrit - High HP/ATK. Can learn Beast Killer, Plant Killer. Shiva - Outstanding MP, High MAG/SPR. Can learn Imperil, Magic Break, Libra. Golem - Outstanding HP. Can learn Provoke, Cover, Last Stand, Stone Killer. Ramuh - Outstanding MAG/MP. Can learn Osmose, Dispel, Imperil, Libra. Diabolos - Outstanding MP, High MAG. Can learn Osmose, Imperil, Darkside, Demon Killer, Reduce Encounter. Carbuncle - Outstanding SPR/MP. Can learn Barfira, Barblizzara, Barthundara, Cura, Dispel, Last Stand. Odin - Outstanding ATK, High HP. Can learn Bladeblitz, Lance, Fingersnap, Dragon Killer, Mental Break, Magic Break, Undead Killer MAGICITES. Magicite Shards, Magicites, and Megacites are farmable through Dungeons, Explorations, the Arena board, and events. Different places drop certain colored ones. A special Vortex called "Chamber of Crystals" sometimes pops up (see -Vortex- below for more information). You can also buy a load of Megacites through current events (this is the most steady source of a load of Megacites). -Vortex- EVENT. Events are usually event Dungeons/Explorations playable through the Vortex. Exchange event currency with King Mog for event items. Vortex > Exchange to instantly reach the Moogle King. VORTEX OF DESIRES. There are four chambers and you can open one of them at a time without using Lapis. They are open until the game resets its 24 hour cycle. After unlocking one, there's an option to open the others using 100 Lapis each, which I highly do not recommend. The most useful one is Chamber of Experience ADV: it gives ~30,000 EXP for 15 NRG, and all into one Unit if you only take the one Unit and an OP Friend Unit as your party. If you don't have enough Sacred Crystals from Events, Chamber of Awakening INT has great chances of dropping Sacred Crystals. Chamber of Awakening ADV has great chances of dropping Holy Crystals. VORTEX OF TRIALS. There used to be a pathway called Vortex of Trials but now there is only Chamber of Fallen and you can get into Chamber of the Reborn through there. Chamber of Fallen is where you defeat different bosses to obtain unique weapons and armor. Chamber of the Reborn is where you can fight the bosses you faced in the Farplane (at the Tower of Earth). There are also temporary recurring Vortex Dungeons usually open for a weekend. Chamber of Crystals is a recurring event Vortex Dungeon and only drops Magicite Shards, Magicites, or Megacites. The higher the difficulty, the better grade of Magicite dropped. IMO this costs too much NRG, but if you're impatient to level your Espers quickly then why not? Gil Snapper's Cave. A recurring vortex. Obtain Gil Snappers, Units solely used for selling to obtain Gil, of varying worth. Though it's not worth the NRG. CACTUAR DUNES. A recurring vortex. Obtain Metal Cactuars, Units solely used for Enhancing into other Units to gain Experience, of varying worth). Great for maxing Units! THE ENCHANTED MAZE. A recurring vortex. PRIZES: Great for for obtaining Metal Gigantuars and Sacred Crystals, good for obtaining 6* Awakening Materials, and randomly encountering and obtaining Burst Pot Units (Units solely used to give experience to another Unit's Limit Burst). DUNGEON RUN-THROUGH: The correct doors are randomly generated every run. The only tell of which door is correct is if there is a Moogle standing behind one. The Moogle is a new feature added in December 2016 that happens only when the game thinks you're having a hard time advancing through doors (example: you reached 3 dead ends on the first door in 3 runs). The Moogle will only help in the beginning and towards the end of the path so good luck with the in-between. The dead end doors will always contain a Metal Gigantuar. You'll know you reached the end when there is a fork in the road; one door has a dead end reward and the other has the ultimate reward of 3 Minituars, which can either drop Star Quartz or Scream Roots when defeated. TIP: At the beginning of each run, decide whether to go right, middle, or left on the first door and keep picking the same door for the rest of the run. That's what I do. I don't mind the results because it's not like you know which door to pick anyway. Just pick one route (left, middle or right) and stick with it for every run. -Dungeons and Explorations- The last Dungeon (the one at the top of the List and usually right below the Exploration of a Dungeon) most likely contains a boss. ACHIEVEMENT REWARDS. Gaining Achievements is a great way for free Lapis. If you're not sure if a skill is a Magic or an Ability, check the icon after you ready your Unit with the selected command (before you issue the command). Magic is a symbol of an exploding pink burst. Ability is a crystal. Author's Note: I usually bring a Friend Unit to remind me what Achievement is needed. Luneth for "no Limit Burst" and "no deaths." Lightning for "lightning damage." Exdeath for "use magic." Noctis for "defeat [boss] with Limit Burst." Elza is good for activating Limit Bursts, and Bartz's Entrust too. Maxwell's Limit Burst drops a lot of Esper orbs that fill the Esper Gauge (the more enemies, the more orbs) for "evoke esper" missions. Shantotto is useful because she can learn all the Elemental Magicks. When an Achievment asks for a specific Ability to be used it is usually an Ability a FFBE main character has (max out all main characters if you want all the Achievments). I don't know if they fixed it but there was a misprint of using Power Burst as an Achievement Reward: it is supposed to be Power Break, Power Burst does not exist. -Silver Chests- Silver Chests are chests that require Magic Keys to be opened. They can be found in Dungeons, Explorations, and Towns. Many aren't worth opening, but the ones that contain +10% to stats Recipes or Bar-element-ra Ability Recipes are definitely worth it. Magic Keys must be equipped in your Items to open Silver Chests in Dungeons and Explorations. Magic Keys can be Crafted with Screamroot x1 and Fine Alcryst x1. There's a chance that a Fine Alcryst will be crafted along with any Ability. The easiest way to obtain Screamroots (and also Fine Alcrysts) are through events. There's no need to stress about getting Magic Keys, if you keep playing the game and doing events you will earn a lot. -Towns and Quests- Visit all the places in Town to add warp points to Town Menu. Don't forget to touch Farplane Monuments. In Town, you can sometimes find NPCs (non playable characters) wanting you for your services. Talk to them to accept Quests! When you're in a Town, you can check accepted Quests through the Town Menu by clicking on Quest Report. If you have a Quest finished and have to find your Client: go to the Town the Client is in > Town Menu > Quest Report > click on the completed Quest > click on Report. This transports you directly to their face. Most Quests allow you to do this and some don't. While you're in Town: Town Menu > World to go back to the World. Menu > Home to go back to Home. Fat Chocobo Shops can be found in certain Towns. They will exchange items for Star Quartz. Some useful items are: Healing Staff (has Cura), Earrings (MAG +20%), Black Belt (Counter), Holy Lance (Light Element), Man-Eater. Or just keep 'em: maybe better shops will open up in the future. -Trophies- Check what Trophies you've obtained through Home > Menu > Trophies. Collecting Trophies will net you many different rewards and get that flying Moogle with a key closer to a treasure! 30 TROPHIES. The Moogle will give you the Hero's Ring Recipe (+10% ATK/MAG accessory!) at 30 Trophies. Materials needed: Fire Megacryst x10, Ice Megacryst x10, Silver Ore x3. 40 TROPHIES. Monarch's Ring, +5 DEF/SPR and +10% ATK/DEF/MAG/SPR. Materials needed: Wind Megacryst x20, Earth Megacryst x20, Light Megacryst x10, Dark Megacryst x10, Hero's Ring x1. 50 TROPHIES. Domination Ring, +5 DEF/SPR and +10% ATK/MAG/HP/MP Materials needed: Lightning Megacryst x20, Water Megacryst x20, Light Megacryst x10, Dark Megacryst x10, Hero's Ring x1. 60 TROPHIES. Ruler's Ring, +5 DEF/SPR and +15% ATK/MAG and +5% HP/MP Materials needed: Light Megacryst x20, Dark Megacryst x20, Fire Megacryst x10, Ice Megacryst x10, Hero's Ring x1. 70 TROPHIES. Ring of Dominion (Exceed Ring in Japan), +7 DEF/SPR and +50% ATK/DEF/MAG/SPR and +30% HP/MP Materials needed: Hope Diamond x3, Flaming Blood x3, Koltz Star x3, Hero's Ring x3. Hope Diamond has a practically, impossibly small chance of being crafted along with the Monarch Ring. Flaming Blood is similar but drops from Domination Ring. Koltz Star is similar but drops from Ruler Ring. Crafting an Exceed Ring is probably the hardest thing to ever do in this game. If crafting an Exceed Ring is in your aim, below are friendly recommendations on how to commence this harrowing endeavor. As more Trophies will not be added, having 70 total Trophies will be quite difficult to obtain as there is only a total of 75 Trophies. The most difficult Trophies would be getting Gold in Forger of Bonds (receive 1,000,000 Friend Points), Fabled Smith (Craft 1,000 Equipment), Divine Technician (Craft 1,000 Abilities), Esteemed Explorer (complete 10,000 Explorations), Supreme Evoker (evoke an Esper 10,000 times), Noble Champion (10,000 Colosseum victories), Budding Gladiator (participate in the Colosseum 10,000 times), Rule of Ares (10,000 Arena vitories), and Battle King (participate in Arena 10,000 times). This means to change the item you want your Friends to send you to Friend Points and keep it at Friend Points indefinitely. Be sure to focus on Crafting 5 minute recipes of Equipment and Abilities that uses the least amount of Materials daily. (There is also a Trophy for Crafting 1,000 Items, but this is easy if you have Copper and the Shuriken Recipe.) Make sure to enter Explorations as often as you can (Grandshelt Isle's Earth Shrine Exploration is only 3 NRG). Always Evoke any Esper when possible. And pick between Colosseum victories/participation or Arena victories/participation since they both use the same NRG currency (orbs) to enter. Ideally, the 5 Trophies not to get Gold in would be the the 2 mentioned Colosseum ones, 2 mentioned Arena ones, and Supreme Evoker (IMO this one is really hard) or Forger of Bonds (time is the only enemy here). Stealing from Colosseum foes will not count towards Legendary Thief (Gold is having 1,000 stolen items). Certain Standard Summon Units can innately learn the Steal Ability (Paul and Eldin), as well as Rare Summons such as Vaan, Locke, and Mercedes. Item Whiz Gold can be obtained by buying usable items (Potion, Antidote, Eye Drops, Smelling Salts, Echo Herbs, Unicorn Horn, Hi Potion, Ether), equipping only those items, using the entire inventory in a Dungeon or Exploration, Items > Restock, and repeat. Undying Myth Gold (100 consecutive Arena victories) must be completed in the one week cycle of the Arena, so watch out for when the week refreshes. Lastly, make Hero Rings whenever possible and stock up on all Megacrysts! -Materials- If you want a certain Material and don't know how to find it, check Exvius Wiki or click on the Material and click on the magnifying glass icon to pull up a list of locations it can be found at. Alcrysts (needed for Crafting Abilities) are buyable at Ability Shops. It is definitely worth the Lapis to upgrade your Materials Slots. Events might take up extra Material Slots. WHAT TO SELL. If you are having a tough time deciding on what Materials to sell off, you can pretty much sell off anything in your Materials list in between Farplane Soul and Screamroot (and _definitely_ do _not_ sell off Farplane Souls and Screamroots as these items are usually needed for Crafting Abilities and Magic Keys). However, be aware that some beginning Quests involve coughing up certain items. From the top of my head some Quests require Chromatic Jelly x3, Abominable Wing x3, Dragon Scale x3, Elemental Tear x3, Magicite Shards x24, Iron Ore x??, Lumber x??, White Magicite x8. You can also sell off Beast Meat, Esper Cryst, Esper Shards (it's dropped from every monster so it's too easy to get), Corpse Fly (it's just under Screamroot so I didn't mention it before). Beast Meat, Pearl of Wisdom, Allure Powder, and Esper Cryst are all buyable in shops. You can sell mostly anything between and including Beast Meat and Esper Cryst as these are just Materials needed to Awaken Units. Just make sure what Units you have and which Materials they need for Awakening. If you aren't worried about Crafting Abilities, you can sell off all your Crysts, they are requestable from Friends as gifts. Do not sell off Megacrysts. -Trust Master Rewards- Getting 100% Trust Mastery from a Unit will give you a reward (a TMR, or Trust Master Reward). What reward you get depends on what Unit you are getting it from. There is only a 10% chance to obtain a gain of .1% to a Unit's Trust at the end of any Dungeon or Exploration run. Along with any trust a Unit has already obtained, each Unit automatically gives 5% Trust when enhanced into an identical Unit. For example, gaining 16% on each of five identical Units and Enhancing all 4 into the fifth Unit will give 100% Trust. Fuzing nonidentical Units into each other will not give any gains in Trust. Trust Moogle Units, when Enhanced into a Unit, will give Trust. 5% or 10% gain in Trust from certain Moogles is possible. NOTABLE TMRs: ` Zidane [TMR: Dual Wield], can equip weapons in both hands = increases ATK and enables unit to attack twice in one turn. ` Gilgamesh [Genji Glove], Dual Wield and +10% ATK/DEF. ` Ludmille [Dualcast], cast Magic twice in one turn. ` Chizuru [Blade Mastery], +50% ATK if equipped with a Katana. ` Miyuki [Sakurafubuki], high ATK Katana. ` Cecil [Excalibur], high Attack Holy Greatsword. ` Bartz [Doublehand], +50% ATK when equipped with a single weapon. ` Luna [Barrage], attacks 4 times at random at a very slightly lowered ATK. ` Lenna [Magi Staff], high SPR staff. TMRs that grant double attacking possibilities are the best and should be the top TMRs to obtain (Genji Glove, Dual Wield, Dualcast). For more information on TMRs, below is a good Reddit article that explains it all: https://www.reddit.com/r/FFBraveExvius/comments/5pxzix/trust_master_rewards_gui de_what_where_how/ -Limit Burst- Each Unit has a unique Limit Burst. Leveling up Limit Bursts will make them more powerful/effective. The max level of Limit Bursts is 25. Level up Limit Bursts by continually activating a Limit Burst. The best way to level up Limit Bursts are through Enhancing Units with Burst Pot Units. Only Cecil's Limit Burst is worth leveling up. If you do want to level up his Limit Burst then max it out in his 3* form first before Awakening him. It is overwhelmingly easier to level up Limit Bursts in the lowest Star form than higher Star forms. -Colosseum- If you keep going on with the story, eventually the Colosseum will be unlocked. The Colosseum can be entered from Home > Arena > Colosseum. A maximum of 5 orbs can be filled. One orb is expended every time you enter battle. One orb is refilled every hour. When you Rank Up, all the orbs are refilled, so make sure to expend your orbs before Ranking Up. Friend Units are not allowed in the Colosseum. Colosseum foes have different Stealable Items from their Dungeon/Exploration forms. Beginner Rank C Round 3 has many monsters with Earth's Core. Beginner Rank S Round 2's Aqua Elementals, Goblins, and Mages all have a possibility of dropping Farplane Souls. -Arena- Arena is the pvp (player versus player) of FFBE. Opponent players will set up teams and artificial intelligence (AI) will battle as them. Make sure to check the Rules: every week it changes and practically anything can be prohibited. Arena shares the same orbs with Colosseum. If you leave or your game crashes in battle, you lose. REWARDS. Weekly and Monthly Arena Rewards do not stack. You get what you get. MEDAL EXCHANGE. Medals are earned by obtaining victories. Once all rewards in the Medal Exchange board is claimed the board will reset with different, similar prizes. ARENA DAMAGE. Damage output is capped at 999, unless attack is chained. Tip: Exdeath, Arc, and Krille has innate Dualcast ability. ARENA BATTLE AI. The sophistication of the battle AI seems to be linked to the Rank, so you'll always have an easier time beating a Rank 40 than you would with a Rank 80 team. Tip: Cloud of Darkness (CoD) will instantly be knocked out with a Raise or equivalent skill. If CoD is in the opposing team and in your team you have a Refia (who has Full Raise and Embolden), cast Full Raise on CoD before buffing the team. BATTLE. AI will usually cure any member who is low on HP (especially with Curaja if available). AI will not usually pick an attack with the most damage output, unless you are fighting against a high Ranked player. Random status ailments can be devastating (Exdeath's Limit Burst, Black Cat Lid's [BCL] Hex Strike, Juggler's Pandora's Box, Ling's Dance of Death, ...). Having a Unit who can equip Golem Staff and can hit all Units at once (such as using Bladeblitz, Hit All, Area Blast, etc.) or who has Counter can be quite rewarding if the opponent's Units are not resistant to status ailments. The Esper Diabolos can learn Darkside and Odin can learn Bladeblitz. OPPONENT UNITS. Some Units have a chance to retaliate with an attack, aoe attack, healing, aoe healing, or other skill after your Units attack them. Lightning, Chizuru, and Luneth are examples of Units who can ST attack. Dark Fina and White Knight Noel can strike back with aoe magic. Santa Roselia can retaliate be healing her party. Noctis can heal himself. Refia is innately immune to many status ailments. AI will always make Refia use Curaja and Stona when needed, but not Raise. Noctis by himself has the potential to KO your entire party, especially if his team is allowed to go twice in a row and he uses Flask Abilities that cause Stop or Random Status Ailments. Cecil is the perfect tank in Arena. Luneth is not only a strong attacker but is also innately immune to many status ailments. Lightning's AoE elemental attacks are troublesome if you don't have Omniveil, Rainbowveil, etc. Elza can Lance out all MP from a Unit. STRATEGY. If you can't overpower your opponent in 1-3 rounds, go for survival. Survival: Buff Units first, keep HP up, have a curing Unit for heals/buffs/status ailments, pick off the weakest opponents first, cause status ailments on opponents, and wait for the 10 Rounds to be up. Focus on taking out Refia, Cecil, or Units with Curaja if your team can take the hits from the opponent's main attackers. Use Osmose to take away MP from the most pesky Units. Equip items that give immunity to status ailments. Overpower: Forego buffing to start off with your best attacks, make sure you can use 2 Curajas in one turn when needed, tanks can be heroes. Multiple Exdeaths Dualcasting Meteors will do the trick! STRATEGY AGAINST COVER. Some damaging abilities (such as Exdeath's Meteor, CoD's Call of the Void, and Gilgamesh's Divider) can bypass the Cover ability (usually exhibited by Cecil, Warrior of Light [WoL], and Charlotte). STRATEGY AGAINST REGEN UNITS. Maxwell can heal ~1800 HP every turn. Noctis might not only Evade an attack but can also heal a good amount of HP. He can retaliate for every intended hit against him (even if he was Covered by another Unit) with healing, that means it is possible for Noctis to heal multiple times in one turn depending on how many times your Units attack him. Leave these units alone until the end. Author's Note: I personally only aim for the daily 5 Arena Participations to get the Lapis, Star Quartz, and the Monthly Reward of 2 Trust Moogles. Put one weak character in your Arena Party so that it can be knocked out instantly. -What to focus on!- I give you a text wall and also this simple list of what to focus on: ` Send Gifts to Friends ` Daily Quests ` Level up Units ` Events ` Complete the Map ` Obtain Espers -What I do daily- Send gifts. Events! Craft Libra/Fire, Bronze Knife/Staff/Iron Gauntlet/Hero Ring. Daily Missions. Daily Arena participation. Steal Farplane Souls from Beginner S2 Colosseum enemies (for Crafting Fire). (As you can see, I'm aiming for Trophies.) Going back and Completing Dungeons/Explorations for the Lapis (if there isn't a farming Event happening). Hoping Noctis drops out of a daily pull (I haven't played FFXV, I just like him). I'm not into TMR grinding but I'll run Earth Shrine Exploration with my Trust Reward gaining Party when I'm finished Completing Achievement Rewards. My Trust Reward gaining Party is Maxwell, Chizuru, Miyuki, Cecil, and Bartz (mainly to Entrust into Maxwell's Limit Burst to evoke Espers or give other Units a chance to use their Limit Bursts) since I only have one Maxwell, Chizuru, and Miyuki (and no Zidanes!). Also, Earth Shrine Exploration is for the Exploration Trophy, Esper Trophy (why not), and Materials for Crafting for Equipment and Ability Trophies. My TMRs: Lenna's from grinding (Trust Moogles were not available at the time :P), Dualcast and Genji Gloves from Trust Moogles. -Resources- http://exvius.gamepedia.com/Final_Fantasy_Brave_Exvius_Wiki Exvius Wiki - an accurate resource for FFBE information! https://www.reddit.com/r/FFBraveExvius/ The FFBE Reddit - an incredible information and social outlet! http://ffbe.kongbakpao.com/ Kongbakpao - an avid JP player with great knowledge and a great website!
