The game depicts nudity and this guide does not ignore that fact. If you are morally opposed to nudity or are otherwise not legally able to view or read about it, please stop reading here and click the "back" button to return to the previous page. I tried my best to avoid using vulgar language throughout this guide, but there are times where I felt it necessary to convey the exact message the game had, using language that would be considered offensive to some. Please be aware that by reading past this point, you are doing so at your own risk and you may find objectionable words. I cannot be held responsible if you find this guide to go against your morals and convictions. You have been warned. I would like to say that this guide, as well as the other guides for adult 3DO titles I have written are 100% serious. I have received some e-mails making light of them. I have an appreciation for the worst of the worst in the video game world, and that includes awful pornographic titles for a failed system. I wrote this guide and all the others in the interest of preserving this shameful, yet hilarious, part of video game history. Almost every person I have ever had conversation with has never heard of, let alone imagined, pornographic video games. These guides are to help you understand what they are about, exactly, and help you realize that they are really not erotic at all, especially when compared to what is available on the internet today. This guide is intended to help you understand the story (what little bit there is) within this game. If you are looking for a detailed description of sexual acts, I suggest you look elsewhere. This guide is intended for those of us who are mature enough to look at breasts without gaping mouths and snide remarks. As always, I welcome feedback. You can reach me by e-mail at Arguro AT hotmail.com or on MSN messenger at the same address. I am not always at my computer, so please be patient; I will respond at some point. I would like to say before we get to the story breakdown that this Vivid Interactive title has the most story I have seen in any of their titles. While it does still contain the randomness that they all seem to contain, the story seems to be more of a focal point and the nudity seems to be a secondary thought. With this being true, I am having a much more difficult time breaking the story elements down. While there is actually more story in the forefront, it is still vague and nondescript like all Vivid titles. I am doing my best to relate it to you, but if you have a different interpretation, I would like to hear it. Please e-mail me your thoughts and opinions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Controls (CONT) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- After the introduction screen, there will be a picture of the cover of the game on the screen. Press it again to make it resume When paused: Right skips ahead a frame ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 1 (CHP1) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The first chapter starts out with an overview of a map of New Guinea as seen when a book opens. We hear a woman's voice say, "There is no life without love and there is no love without you. Let each word bow my heart." Then a man's voice chimes in with, "Let each kiss seal my fate for eternity and beyond." They both will say together, "Time will wait for no one. Love will wait forever." "Blessed be this Immortal Desire." This is obviously where from the title of the game comes. What this is basically saying is that without love, life is meaningless. Love is forever, an eternity if you will, so that with love, live is an eternity, making one's essence immortal. The desire to love is the desire to be immortal. Next we are shown a field with the words "New Guinea, 1692" We are shown some random scenes spliced in to the view of the camera running through the brush as tribal music plays in the background. Various women are being shown briefly, most of them nude of nearly naked. I assume these women, especially the darker skinned one with the large (and clearly fake) breasts to be some sort of spirits or goddesses, most likely of love or passion. They are presumably doing their rituals. Suddenly, with a thunder clap and a flash of lightning, we are shown a nearly naked red-headed woman quickly sit up in bed. She is looking at a very old picture of woman who bares a striking resemblance to her. This picture is important later in the story, and it will be revealed of whom the picture is in the last chapters. We'll see two silhouettes kissing in a shadow of fire superimposed over the picture before the scene flashes quickly to a pan collecting rain water leaking through the roof. The red-headed woman will reassure herself that everything was just a dream; everything, in this case, is referring to New Guiana in 1692. The red-headed woman will look at the picture again and we well see her memories of the dream as she re-assures herself that she is not going crazy. The time on the clock will show midnight as she says, "I know who I am. It's just a dream." After a flash to the clock again, we will see a tombstone. The tombstone is that of Anna of Gable and gives the year of death. I am having the hardest time reading the year, but I *THINK* it says 1914 (which somewhat makes sense later on). "It was a time of love for Anna and Gabriel and eternal promise that they would love each other forever. Taken by her father, Gabriel know he would never sere Anna again. Destined to live eternal life without eternal love, he vowed he would find her if it took forever. That's the one thing Gabriel had: forever." This is some foreshadowing here. This is heard over the shots of the tombstone as well as a quick flash back to the old picture in the red-head's room. Next we see a woman and a man kissing passionately as thunder and lighting go off in the background. Next we will hear, "Anna... You know I can love you... forever." This is spoken in a slightly different voice. Since we just heard that Anna and Gabriel would love each other for ever, we can assume that this line is spoken by Gabriel himself. Next we see what appears to be a man screaming in agony over a mountainside, then a flash to a modern city before we see a woman on a swing set in old style dress. This woman looks very similar to the woman in the picture and is a red-head as well. Next we see a man smelling a red rose, the symbol for eternal love, before we wee the tombstone again. A quick flash of a high-rise building will bring the end of the chapter, but not before we know it is now in Los Angeles in 1993. **SUMMARY** So what we know is that a woman named Anna and a man named Gabriel are locked in eternal love. It appears that they formed their bond in New Guiana in 1692. We know that a very similar looking woman to whom we presume to be Anna awoke in the bedroom and thought everything we saw was a dream and nothing more. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2 (CHP2) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2 picks up right at the high-rise in Los Angeles in 1993. We see a close up of the old picture in the bedroom. It appears that this bedroom with the red-head in it are in this apartment in 1993, so the red-head is, more or less, from today's time period and is dreaming of a time long ago. With a quick zoom in on the old picture, we can see it is of the lady we just saw in the last chapter on the swing. After several more random shots of the presumed goddesses doing their rituals, we see a man and a woman in a room. It appears that the woman is a prostitute of some form, most likely a legal one in a brothel somewhere. The woman says, "Can I get you something? Some coke? Booze? Some smokes?" Coke in this instance is referring to cocaine, a popular drug in the early 1990's, especially in the underground world of prostitution, legal or otherwise. "How about some love?" is the response from this mystery man. The woman looks him over and realizes he is not from the area and says, "You're from out of town, aren't you? One of those lonely guys, huh? What's You're name?" This is where some things begin to clarify, and yet get all the more mysterious at the same time. The man replies that his name is Gabriel. We heard from the voiceover in the first chapter that Gabriel and Anna were locked in eternal love, making them immortal. Is this the same Gabriel? "Well Gabriel, you been here long?" asks the woman. "An eternity" replies Gabriel. This IS the same Gabriel that was locked in eternal love with Anna. After a few more seconds of back and forth, we are shown more silhouettes in the fire with Gabriel's face superimposed over the scene. "Anna... Promise me you will love me forever." A naked woman is shown, then we see two people in a field by a castle in what appears to be clothing from several hundred years ago. "I.. I will my love. I don't want to die. I want to love forever!" is the response from a woman's voice that we can assume is Anna. Another shot of a man on a mountain, this time screaming "ANNA!" Here is where things get a bit confusing if you are not paying attention. We see what looks like an woman in an old nurse outfit with Gabriel looking on. Then we see the prostitute in the woman's place. "You know, *NDISTINCT AUDIO*" The prostitute asks, if Gabriel is ok, then says, "You know, I am gonna be a nurse in ten months. I am really good with people." Throughout this, we see a heavily wounded man being bandaged up as well as the nurse woman. Gabriel cuts her off and tells her to sit, calling her by name: Julia. Julia is confused on how Gabriel knows her name but sits. Gabriel confesses that Julia was the name of the prostitute's great grandmother, from whom the prostitute got her name. "She saved my best friend in the war." Julia says her great grandmother was not in Vietnam, a reasonable statement considering how old Gabriel looks physically. Gabriel and the woman both say at the same time that she (referring to the great grandma) was in World War I. After some foreboding music, chapter two draws to a conclusion. **SUMMARY** This further proves the point that Gabriel is indeed the immortal lover bound to Anna. It would be very unlikely that Gabriel's best friend fought in World War One. Since we keep seeing shots of a man and a woman in the late 17th century, is it possible that these two are Gabriel and Anna? We know that Gabriel is searching for Anna because she was taken away from him. We know that eternal love brings immortality. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3 (CHP3) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now we see Verdun, France in 1914, right in the middle of World War I. It is obvious these people are in a bunker in the middle of the fighting. Here we see several men doing their normal routines, while we hear Gabriel saying that Julia's great grandma saved his best friend's life in World War One. During these scenes we see a huge explosion and one of the men gets hurt. "She was a very beautiful woman, Julia." After a few scenes we see the wounded man from the last chapter stretched out being tended to by the nurse we saw briefly in the last chapter. The two lock eyes for a moment while she is tending to his head wounds and share a smile. The man looks really beaten up and the nurse, who we can assume is the great grandmother of the prostitute looks very sad that this man is so injured. She cleans his wounds and gets up to leave, but the man grabs her arm and they begin to kiss. This leads to a rather passionate sex scene, despite his obvious head trauma. This scene lasts for some time, with clear shots of the man's face and head.. In between we see a woman dancing with fire. I believe this is to represent the passion between these two lovers. In the middle of the passion, she dumps his canteen of water on her breasts to further the excitement. In between we see pictures of a soldier. I am not sure, but I believe this to be Gabriel, watching the two have sex and longing for his long lost lover, Anna. The chapter ends rather abruptly here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 4 (CHP4) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- We start out with Gabriel seeing another red0head being caressed by what looks like the Phantom of the Opera for some reason before the scene switches to two lovers in a meadow. I assume these two are Gabriel and Anna. "Anna! You're still alive!" proclaims Gabriel to the red-headed woman after we flash back to the first scene again. "Um, do I know you?" the read-headed woman asks quixotically. This red-head appears to be the same one from the bedroom in the first chapter. How Gabriel went from a prostitute, to remembering what he saw in World War I to seeing this woman is a complete mystery, but it happens somehow. In the scenes that follow, we see a naked woman drinking from a glass of red liquid that I assume is blood. Immediately after we see 17th century Gabriel and a the swing set woman (who looks an awful lot like the red-head) kissing. We hear Gabriel again ask Anna to not leave him and love him forever and Anna replies the same as we heard before, but this time she also says, "There is speak of a potion, you know. One drink from the cup of eternal love can bless our immortal desires and makes us love beyond all time." "Anna of Gables! That is Sorcery!" Let us pause here for a moment. We hear here a couple of important things. The first thing is that Gabriel calls her Anna of Gables, which is the same name we saw on the tombstone in the first chapter. We also hear of a potion that binds love forever, blessing immortal desires that bring forever lasting life. This proves, assuming they drink it, that Gabriel in the prostitute's room is the same Gabriel we see in the 17th century and in World War I. "Do you love me?" is Anna's way of coaxing Gabriel into partaking in the so- called sorcery. "I ... I love you" is his response. They share a kiss and next we see several scenes of passionate love making by various people in different times. We also see the fire dancer. We are then shown the bedroom again. On the wall we can clearly see the picture of the woman we saw earlier who we now know is Anna. The redhead is in bed, tossing and turning and seeing blurry images of Gabriel in her dreams. Many repeated sexual scenes happen in her dream as she finally wakes up. Cries of Anna can be heard being made by Gabriel. She goes to the mirror to gather herself, but sees Gabriel's face in the mirror. Freighted, she turns around, to see nothing. She turns back to the mirror and sees Gabriel, in the flesh. "You don't know, do you?" says Gabriel. "What are you talking about? is the woman's freighted response. "I know what you're dreaming." "Are you.....?" "Gabriel!" He advances on her. "What do you want?" "What I have always wanted.. You're love and your destiny." Gabriel pushes her to the bed. He kisses her as we see flashbacks to the 17th century couple. With some creepy music, we see the red-head frightened (and suddenly standing again) as she seems to be remembering everything from her past. Why she forgot it is a complete mystery, but we do know her father took her away from Gabriel somehow. Gabriel hands the red-head, whom we now know is Anna a scroll and tell her to read it. She obliges, "There is no life without love, and there is no love without you. Let each word bow my heart...." Gabriel chimes in and they read the rest in tandem, "and each kiss seal my fate for eternity and beyond; time will wait for no one, love will wait forever. Blessed be this immortal desire." This concluded chapter four. **SUMMARY** The reading of the scroll is exactly how we heard the same words earlier in the very beginning of chapter one. So what we know now is that Gabriel and Anna did indeed use the sorcery to bind their love for eternity, making them immortal. What we do not know is how and why Anna and Gabriel became separated, other than Anna's father having something to do with it. Unfortunately, this is never explained. We just have to take it for what it is worth: Anna and Gabriel's love for one another transcends time and Gabriel stopped at nothing to find Anna again and make her love him, just like she used to. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 5 (CHP5) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The last chapter stars worth the same scenes of the goddesses doing their rituals. We then see Anna crying at what she has realized while Gabriel says, "those pictures in there (referring to the old picture in the bedroom) of you're great grandmother... they you!" "I know who I am! I know who I am!" screams Anna. More shots of the sex goddesses and various half naked sex scenes. Now we see Gabriel drinking from a chalice, which would most likely be the potion Anna referred to earlier. We see the nurse having sex again and other various and oft repeated sex scenes. After a long while we see Gabriel and Anna engaging in sex. Water is ripping through the ceiling from the storm outside making it very wet. Anna is riding Gabriel for a while before we see just her face as she moans in ecstasy lying on her back. We also see spit seconds of Anna and Gabriel in the past having sex. We see a close up of the picture again. Then the scene switches to Anna and Gabriel on the balcony. Anna is crying from the emotion of what has been revealed to her. Gabriel covers her up in a blanket to protect her from the rain and says he has a present for her. He opens his palm and reveals a ring. We quickly see a flashback to 17th century Anna and Gabriel and Gabriel gives Anna the exact same ring. This invokes the memories in Anna again as she takes the rind from Gabriel and begins to accept what is happening to her. They proceed to have sex on the balcony in the rain while we are shown more flashbacks to them engaging in the same act in the past. After the scenes, we see a woman standing in the dark asking if Gabriel is nearby. We see an old man saying "don't look at me! Look away!" He reveals his face and it is clearly Gabriel, very old. The woman, who shows her face as Anna, asks if she is still beautiful and an elderly Gabriel says she is. They have both become very old. We hear the same mantra from the beginning and from the scroll as we see the couple in the past once again. The book will close on Anna smelling a flower in a field. And this will conclude the game. **summery** Anna finally accepts that she is not dreaming everything we saw in the first scene and gives in to her sexual desires for Gabriel. After they engage in sex, they have found one another and have become complete. Because their love for one another has returned, they lose their immortality and die together, to live on and love in spiritual form. What still is never explained is why Anna's father took her away from Gabriel and why Anna does not remember anything. If they both drank from the chalice of eternal love, then why does only Gabriel seek out Anna and not the other way around? Also, was that Gabriel in World War I having sex with Julia like it does appear, or is that really his best friend. It is hard to tell with the bandages. Is he having sex with as many women as possible trying to find Anna or is he just a male whore? Perhaps that is really why they grew old and died: because Gabriel was not faithful to Anna. As you can see, this one can be very vague. I would like to know your opinions. Please e-mail me at the address at the top of the guide. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: What is this game? A: Immortal Desire is a pornographic 'game' made by Vivid Interactive for the 3DO system. It is less of a game and more of a very soft core porn. Q: Porn? So that means naked people having sex? A: Well, if you want to put it bluntly, yes. However, this is extreme soft core porn, which means that there is no actual intercourse involved. There are scenes of simulated sex, but you cannot see any penetration and I assume it does not actually happen at all. Q: So how much nudity is there, then? A: There are a lot of different women that reveal their breasts numerous times. That is all the nudity there is. There is a large statue of a penis, but it does not look much like one and is only shown for a second at a time. A woman does lick it. Q: Who are the actors and actresses in this game? A: I do not know. As with all Vivid titles, it seems to be very difficult to find out. I do not have the original cases or manuals for any of these games so I cannot find out if there are credits involved or not. I have not been able to find any manual scans online. If you know who is in this game or any other Vivid title, PLEASE let me know. I am very curious. ***Update!!!*** My curiosity has waned significantly. I quite frankly do not care who was in or who was responsible for this atrocity. However, if you do have some verifiable information, I will include it if you send it my way. Thanks! Q: How does this stack up against other Vivid Interactive titles? A: This one is quite a bit different than all the other Vivid titles I have played. This one has much more of a focus on the story than any of the others. While the story exists in all the others, this one really goes the extra distance to make it the prominent feature of the game and puts the nudity in the back seat. There are chapters that feature almost no nudity, but at the same time, the game is more graphic in terms of sexuality than other Vivid titles. There are three scenes of what could be considered hard core sex if more than torsos were shown. There is one scene where the couple is standing having sex, and though you cannot see any genitalia, you can see them both in full from a side view. Q: Is there lesbian sex in this game? A: No. There is not a single scene featuring more than one woman. There are several scenes that show only a single woman, though only briefly. The only scenes that show simulated sex contain one man and one woman. Q: What are your thoughts on this game? A: Well, first of all, I wouldn't even call it a game. It is more of a video disc with a menu to choose what chapter to watch. I think it has the most depth of any Vivid title I have played, but I do not think it is anywhere near the erotic level I would expect out of pornography today. I do not find it erotic in the least. I will say that the red headed woman playing Anna does look really good when she is in her nightly on in the balcony scene, but the plethora of fake boobs throughout the game is a huge turnoff. Look for my review here on Gamefaqs for in depth thoughts on the game. Q: I live in a region that did not see this game in retail stores. Can I import it and play it? A: Yes, you should be able to. As far as I know, there is no regional lockout on the 3DO and any game from any region can be played on any system. There may be issues with video playback, though, and since this game is ALL video playback, you could very well experience issues. Q: Does this game comply to Section 18 of the United State Code 2257 Record Keeping Requirements Compliance Statement? A: Because this game was produced before July 3rd, 1995 it is not subject to this law. Q: Does Vivid Interactive still produce games today? A: As far as I know, Vivid Interactive is no longer producing anything for any video game system and no current system allows adult only titles to be produced for it. They do, however, produce a number of adult video titles to this day and are considered one of the larger, well known adult entertainment companies. Q: Where can I get a copy of this game? A: If you want this game, you will have to buy it on eBay as it is not for sale in any retail stores. Be aware that this game will cost a lot as it has pretty high value amongst collectors due to it being fairly rare and of an adult subject matter. Expect to pay no less than $40 US. Q: What would you suggest as an alternative adult title for the 3DO? A: In North America, Neurodancer! Journey into the Neuronet is a little bit better because it actually has elements of gaming and makes you work for the nudity. However, the women aren't very attractive. If you have access to Japanese titles, I like the Virtual Cameraman series as they do present quite a bit of a challenge, especially if you can't read a word of Japanese like me. Oneesan to Issho! Janken Paradise is also an interesting title that is essentially strip Rock, Paper, Scissors. It does not require that you have any knowledge of Japanese to play, but you may not get the full experience. It makes you work for the nudity, but not as much as Virtual Cameraman does. Stay away from any of Vivid Interactive's other titles as well as Plumber's Don't Wear Ties. Q: Are there any cheats or codes for this game? A: I do not know of any. If there were, I cannot imagine what they would do, other than possibly show the credits. Q: What other titles did Vivid Interactive produce for the 3DO? A: The other known titles are as follows: Blonde Justice, Endlessly, The Coven, Love Bites, Mind Teazzer, Sex, and Supermodels Go Wild. There are also two known preview titles called 'Samplers' which are compilations of the video seen in several of their titles. There are also at least two unreleased titles: Raquel Released and Winner Takes All. Q: Can I host this guide on my site? A: No. I do not allow anyone to use my guides without expressed, written permission. I do not give permission unless I am asked, specifically, about this guide. I do not like automated e-mails. I will most likely only allow my guide to be hosted on a small website, usually one centered around the game or system my guide is for. For more information, see the Copyright section of this guide, at the bottom. Use of this guide without my permission is considered theft and will be reported to the proper authorities. ***Update!!!*** I am no longer such a tight-ass about this. Just e-mail me, and I will likely say yes. Please ask NICELY, though. Q: How do I contact you about this guide? A: E-mail is the best way to do so. My e-mail can be found at the beginning or the end of this guide, just remember to take the numbers 123 out of it because they do not belong. I keep them there to prevent auto scanning websites from obtaining my e-mail address. Alternatively, you can also contact me via MSN using the same e-mail address or on AIM using the screen name ArguroDeXill. While I am almost always online, I am not always at my computer and it may take as many as 8 hours to get a reply from me. Just be patient if this is the contact method of choice. I am not ignoring you, simply doing something away from the computer. ***Update!!!*** Once again, I laugh at at instant messaging, E-mail me! Q: What other guides have you done? A: Just simply click on the name Arguro at the very top or the very bottom (orange text in a black box) of this guide and it will take you to my contributor page. From there you can see all the different things I have contributed to Gamefaqs. Q: I really like your guides. Can I donate money to you in support? A: If you really want to, you can send a Pay Pal payment to my e-mail address which is at the top or bottom of this guide. Please understand that any donated money does not mean I will name you in my guide. It also does not mean I will do any special work for you and it certainly does not give you any rights to host this guide or publish it anywhere. I do not want the user to feel obligated to pay me in any means. This is a free guide for personal, private home use. I will not reject your offer to pay me, but I do not want you to feel it is necessary. If you do decide to donate to me, please only donate what amount you are comfortable with, even if it is a single penny. Once a donation is made, it is final and there will be no refunds. This is an odd question and I debated about adding it for a long time, but when I saw other FAQ authors had a similar question, I felt it would be a valid addition. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version History ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 1.00 completed June 10, 2010 at 9:37 pm Mountain Time Version included the guide in full, including all sections and the story analysis in full.
