The game depicts nudity and this guide does not ignore that fact. If you are morally opposed to nudity or are otherwise not legally able to view or read about it, please stop reading here and click the "back" button to return to where you came from. I tried my best to avoid using vulgar language throughout this guide, but there are times where I felt it necessary to convey the exact message the game had, using language that would be considered offensive to some. Please be aware that by reading past this point, you are doing so at your own risk and you may find objectionable words. I cannot be held responsible if you find this guide to go against your morals and convictions. I would like to say that this guide, as well as the other guides for adult 3DO titles I have written are 100% serious. I have received some e-mails making light of them. I have an appreciation for the worst of the worst in the video game world, and that includes awful pornographic titles for a failed system. I wrote this guide and all the others in the interest of preserving this shameful, yet hilarious, part of video game history. Almost every person I have ever had conversation with has never heard of, let alone imagined, pornographic video games. These guides are to help you understand what they are about, exactly, and help you realize that they are really not erotic at all, especially when compared to what is available on the internet today. Love Bites for the 3DO is a soft core porn title produced by Vivid Interactive. This particular title is somewhat different than their other 3DO titles in the fact that this one is a lot better at giving an erotic feel. The production value seems to have been increased. There are voice- overs in many of the chapters which help convey essence of the sexiness. While there isn't any acting per say, there will be a woman's voice throughout the game explaining what it is to be a vampire. I actually found this title to be very interesting and not anywhere near as boring as every other Vivid title I have played. While it is far from erotic, it has a certain essence about it that makes you not want to look away. The women used in this title are much more attractive than previous titles and the clips do not feel like they are randomly placed together in some sort of social commentary that only the producer understood. This title also features six chapters, which is one more than any other Vivid title I have played. Each chapter is broken up into a different story, which is very different from past Vivid titles. All in all, this is the best Vivid title on the 3DO I have seen. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Controls (CONT) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- When you are on the main menu, there will be five pictures. There are some important things that are mentioned here, as well as a look at the different half-naked vampire women you will see throughout. After the Heavenly Studios screen shows, there will be text on the screen that says "the beginning." A voice-over says Neophytes, which essentially means someone who is new to a group that is seeking admission. One of the more common places this term is used in today's society are in fraternities. After you pledge a fraternity on a college campus, you become a neophyte. You are allowed to live amongst the other members, but you are not yet a member. Vampires can be thought of in the same terms. There are people (at least in stories and lore) that wish to become vampires. They have to prove them selves to a vampire that they are indeed ready for the immortal life they will be given. A great example is Ann Rice's book, "The Queen of the Damned." "Innocence. Bite me... Do it!" are heard next. Along with these words is a woman who takes off her night gown. Even though we don't see her speak, we can assume she is the one who is wishing to become a vampire. We can make this assumption because we see a close up of her mouth and she does not have the trademark sharp teeth that vampires typically have when depicted in movies. From here we see many exposed breasts of different vampire women. Music plays in the background and it is actually very difficult to understand the words that are being spoken. We can hear "Love bites" said repeatedly. All throughout the credits will play. This is just an introduction, trying to get you into the "mood" if you will. "Sleep my darling... You must sleep now." can be heard a little later. Within the lore of vampires, once a human is bitten, his or her blood will be drained. If the blood is drained just before the point of death, that person will basically fall unconscious and become a vampire after sleeping for a while. What we hear here is a vampire telling the girl we first saw that she needs to sleep now in order for the process to be complete so she can go from being a neophyte to a full fledged vampire. The Book of the Vampires now flashes across the screen with some cheesy music that must be public domain because it is heard in every cheesy vampire movie from the 50's and 60's. We then see "the shadow is fading" on screen with a vampire woman in the background. We then see a castle in the twilight. "There are still several hours before dawn. Here begins the land of the phantoms." This could have many meanings, but it probably means that this castle shows is where the first vampire lived and preyed on her victims. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2 (CHP2) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- At the beginning of this chapter, we see a rather good looking woman in a see through night gown. The voice over says, "Vampires become more powerful after dark. The sun will be setting soon. Transparent without substance. You must not leave now." "It is just so painful to shrink back into the shadows" can be heard next. This is a reference to night turning into day and how the vampires will lose their power at this time; having to struggle with good and evil, being an outsider. We then see several shots of the vampire lady removing her clothes. Her breast are exposed and looking very nice. After a minute or so, it goes back to the voice over as she is walking around in an empty castle. "In a nightmare without cease, you dream of a poison to bring peace. In isolation, I dream of finding Him again. Or maybe, he will find me..." This is a reference to the vampire that she loved; the one that turned her into a vampire in the first place. Within vampire lore, there is often a deeper connection, one on an emotional level, to the one who turned you into a vampire. We now see her naked once more with the best parts just obstructed from view. The image fades to the castle then fades completely. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3 (CHP3) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Men do not always recognize the dangers that beasts can sense at certain times" in shown on screen. "Nosferatu drinks the blood of the young, the blood necessary to his own existence." We then see a very ugly woman, who looks like a midget (they could be appealing to all fetishes here) with wings and text that says "VAMPIRE BAT." It then shows a bat flying away. Nosferatu is another term for a vampire, Dracula specifically. Some vampires are said to be able to turn into bats and fly. There are such creatures called vampire bats that are known to suck the blood of small animals. Some vampire lore links these real creatures to humans that do the same. From here we see quite possibly the best looking woman in the game dancing seductively, showing her breasts and sharp teeth. She is wearing pants that expose her rear end. She is holding a small glass that contains what we can assume in blood. Since it is filmed in sepia colors, we can only see that it is a dark liquid. We can also see that she is wearing a necklace with a cross on it. A cross is a symbol in the religion of Christianity that is fabled to be a vampire repellent. In some lore, vampires cannot look at a cross, because they are possessed by demons and a cross is the symbol of good. This, however, is not the case in all lore as can be seen here. She is also holding a very large cross, made out of what appears to be iron with pointed ends. She is licking it seductively, as to simulate licking the phallus of a man. This is a common practice in soft core porn where genitalia are often not exposed. Near the end of the chapter, she will poor the blood down her naked body in one of the hottest scenes in the game. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 4 (CHP4) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- This chapter is presented quite a bit differently. I assume it in an attempt to be artistic, but it just feels out of place more than anything else. We see a black and white TV with static on in and we can just barely make out a woman removing her bra. We then see what looks like a 1950's American family trying to adjust their TV. There is a man saying, "we expect to resume broadcasting very shortly. Please stay tuned for..." then a woman's voice says "Elsa, The Vampire Slayer. In black and white, we see a very evil looking vampire female with a blond woman in lingerie saying that she is Elsa, a vampire slayer. We then see many clips of Elsa and vampires naked or nearly naked. It is interesting to note that another one of the vampires is wearing a cross on a chain. This is the shortest clip and it almost seems like it cuts off abruptly. The rest of this scene can actually be viewed in chapter five. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 5 (CHP5) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter five continues from where chapter four abruptly ended. We see more of Elsa and the vampires she is hunting, all naked. What is ironic about it is that Elsa is carrying a wooden cross as one of her hunting tools, despite the fact that the vampires she is hunting wear crosses around their necks. We see a couple of men, dressed in suits walking into a cave with flashlights glowing. This is the first instance of men within the game. There will be a vampire woman dancing around up against a cave wall and the flashlights will illuminate her as well as what can be assumed to be a Latin phrase carved into a wall. What can be seen is, "...AVDIOCE.....COS-IM......RCVLANENS. I do not know what that means. He entire phrase is not shown. This is another reference to vampires being able to transform into bats. Bats are oftentimes thought of as dwelling within caves and spelunkers will encounter them all the time. However, this time, they encounter a vampire in her human form, naked and dancing up against the cave wall for some reason... We then see Elsa stab the evil looking vampire with a wooden steak through the heart. In vampire lore, this is the only way to kill a vampire. Some stories have other ways of killing vampires, but this is perhaps the most abundant way of removing a vampire from it's immortal life. We then see another castle in the twilight. A page form the book appears on screen that says, "Only a woman can break his frightful spell - a woman pure in heart - who will offer her blood freely to Nosferatu and will keep the vampire by her side until after the cock has crowed." Before your mind wanders into the gutter, the cock referenced here is a rooster. Basically, what this is saying is that the only way to kill the head vampire, as it were, is to have a woman offer her self freely to him. A woman that he will be so infatuated with that he will stay with her until after the morning sun rises, thus weakening her power and allowing him to be killed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 6 (CHP6) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Once in a blue moon...." is heard on the voice over, this time spoken by a man. A woman wakes up in a bed and walks towards the window. She will then approach a mirror that looks to be made of water. Her clothes will magically disappear too. The male voice is Nosferatu. He very rarely takes a victim and turns her into a vampire, hence the blue moon reference. We see several images of the woman in her coffin, in bed, and with the teeth marks still fresh in her neck. This is the woman we saw in the first chapter, the one that wanted to be a vampire. She is the one that was referenced in the last chapter, as the woman who would offer herself freely to Nosferatu in order to have him become distracted and weakened. In the final scene, we see her, sitting on a bed with blood pouring down her neck and shoulders and a look of anguish on her face.. She was able to defeat Nosferatu, but at a terrible price. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frequently asked Questions (FAQS) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Q: What is this? When was it released? Who made it? A: This is an adult game for the 3DO. It was released by Vivid Interactive in 1995. It is essentially a soft core porn title on the 3DO. Q: Is it any good? A: Surprisingly, yes. While it isn't on the level of a great video game, when compared to all the other Vivid titles on the 3DO, this is very good. It has an intricate plot as well as good looking women and sensual scenes. Q: Does that mean there is a lot of nudity? A: No. There isn't a lot. There are many women who expose their breasts and dance or pose suggestively, but that is all there is. Q: My 3DO keeps resetting when I go to play one of the videos. It doesn't do it constantly though. What is wrong? A: As near as I can tell, it is just a bug in the game. Since it happens randomly and not every time, it isn't anything too serious. Just try the video again when you get back to the title screen. Q: Does Vivid Interactive still produce video games? A: Not that I am aware of. There is no system that currently allows adult only games to be produced for it. Q: How long would the videos be if they were all strewn together? A: About 20 minutes long, give or take a few minutes. Have not timed it, so I am unsure. Q: You said it was hard to hear the voice over at times. Are the videos captioned as well? A: No. There are no captions at all. It would be nice if there were though, because it is very difficult to understand at some places. Q: Does Vivid Interactive still exist today? A: I am not 100% sure of this, but I believe they still are in existence today. Vivid Interactive is a division of Vivid Entertainment. There is an adult film company by that name that still produces videos today. I Googled the address in the "coming attractions" part of Vivid Interactive's game Blonde Justice, and found it was linked to several porn distributors, including one called Vivid. Vivid has a web address, you can google it to find it. The address there are not congruent with the addresses found in their games, however. They have statements in their record keeping portion of their website that says the have productions made before July 3rd, 1995, which would be when these games were made. Q: Does this game comply to Section 18 of the United State Code 2257 Record Keeping Requirements Compliance Statement? A: Because they were produced before July 3rd, 1995, it is not subject to this law. Q: What would you suggest as an alternative adult title for the 3DO? A: In North America, Neurodancer! Journey into the Neuronet is a little bit better because it actually has elements of gaming and makes you work for the nudity. However, the women aren't as attractive. If you have access to Japanese titles, I like the Virtual Cameraman series as they do present quite a bit of a challenge, especially if you can't read a word of Japanese like me. The Yakyuukyen Special is also an interesting title that is essentially strip Rock, Paper, Scissors. It does not require that you have any knowledge of Japanese to play, but you may not get the full experience. It makes you work for the nudity, but not as much as Virtual Cameraman does. Stay away from any of Vivid Interactive's other titles as well as Plumber's Don't Wear Ties. Q: Where can I get a copy of this game? A: If you want this game, you will have to buy it on eBay as it is not for sale in any retail stores. Be aware that this game will cost a lot as it has pretty high value amongst collectors due to it being fairly rare and of an adult subject matter. Expect to pay no less than $40 US. Q: Are there any cheats or codes for this game? A: I do not know of any. If there were, I cannot imagine what they would do, other than possibly show the credits. Q: Can I host this guide on my site? A: No. I do not allow anyone to use my guides without expressed, written permission. I do not give permission unless I am asked, specifically, about this guide. I do not like automated e-mails. I will most likely only allow my guide to be hosted on a small website, usually one centered around the game or system my guide is for. For more information, see the Copyright section of this guide, at the bottom. Use of this guide without my permission is considered theft and will be reported to the proper authorities. Q: How do I contact you about this guide? A: E-mail is the best way to do so. My e-mail can be found at the beginning or the end of this guide, just remember to take the numbers 123 out of it because they do not belong. I keep them there to prevent auto scanning websites from obtaining my e-mail address. Alternatively, you can also contact me via MSN using the same e-mail address or on AIM using the screen name ArguroDeXill. While I am almost always online, I am not always at my computer and it may take as many as 8 hours to get a reply from me. Just be patient if this is the contact method of choice. I am not ignoring you, simply doing something away from the computer. Q: What other guides have you done? A: Just simply click on the name Arguro at the very top or the very bottom (orange text in a black box) of this guide and it will take you to my contributor page. From there you can see all the different things I have contributed to Gamefaqs. Q: I really like your guides. Can I donate money to you in support? A: If you really want to, you can send a Pay Pal payment to my e-mail address which is at the top or bottom of this guide. Please understand that any donated money does not mean I will name you in my guide. It also does not mean I will do any special work for you and it certainly does not give you any rights to host this guide or publish it anywhere. I do not want the user to feel obligated to pay me in any means. This is a free guide for personal, private home use. I will not reject your offer to pay me, but I do not want you to feel it is necessary. If you do decide to donate to me, please only donate what amount you are comfortable with, even if it is a single penny. Once a donation is made, it is final and there will be no refunds. This is an odd question and I debated about adding it for a long time, but when I saw other FAQ authors had a similar question, I felt it would be a valid addition. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version History (HIST) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 1.00 completed September 2nd, 2008 at 11:19 am Mountain Time Version included the guide in full, including the introduction, controls, plot analysis, FAQs, Version history and copyright sections.
